I struggled to rate this place because I really would give it a 3.5/5. My husband and I went here for a Friday evening date night and drinks. It was quite since we were there fairly early in the evening and the service was attentive. We ordered some drinks (Wine for me and a special bourbon cocktail for him) and a charcuterie board. The tempranillo wine was DELICIOUS and he says his bourbon drink was made to perfection. For dinner, I ordered a scallop meal and he ordered some type of steak item. My scallops tasted well-made, even though it seemed like there was barely any food there to taste. That was really my biggest concern with it. My dish was mostly corn (as you can see) and it was REALLY small. His steak was prepared to his liking, but seemed odd to have fries on the side. Nothing special there. Overall, I ended on a 4 star because the ambiance is really nice and the food/drinks were really good. While overpriced and portions were small, it still was a nice meal. read more

This was the best meal we had during our 10 year anniversary trip to Nashville! When I made the reservations, I told them it was our anniversary and they took care of us. After we had a drink at the bar, they sat us and brought us a couple glasses of prosecco on the house. The hostess and waitress were both extremely helpful in making recommendations and they didn't steer us wrong. We got the hot crab dip and old bay saltines to start, as well as the hush puppies. The dip was our fave! Portions were surprisingly generous for this trendy spot. For entrees, we got the cheeseburger and the scallops. My husband is somewhat of a burger "connoisseur" and he loved it. Great meat to bun ratio and the shoestring fries were tasty too. The scallops were delicious but as per usual as scallops go there were only about 3 on the plate. The cocktails were just OK. My husband did the Manhattan cart where you design your own Manhattan, pick your whiskey, vermouth and bitters from a cart at your table. It's like the make the guac at your table experience at some Mexican restaurants. They start with dry ice to frost the mug which is fun, but the Manhattan didn't blow our minds. Overall though, the Henley made our anniversary dinner an amazing experience that we'll never forget. Tip: If you're into dancing, walk down the street to REBAR afterwards. We ate here on date night before a show. We were able to secure a reservation within 24 hours. We parked quickly and were seated promptly upon entering. The restaurant has an open concept but still feels fairly intimate. I wasn't a huge fan of where we sat...it definitely felt like we were on a date with the other couples on either side of us. Our server was amazing, made several recommendations, and brought everything out to our table quickly. The food was tasty and unique. Although, we found ourselves eating a lot of it with our hands (the mussels and quail). I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for decent sit-down dining in a pinch. read more

We were there for dinner on the first night of their newest menu. We enjoyed the country fried Brie (odd pairings but boy do they work!) for an appetizer. My husband ordered the braised brisket reginetti and I had the pan roasted scallops with grits. Both were delicious. We also got the everything rolls- must try!! For dessert we enjoyed the vinegar caramel cheesecake. I thought the vinegar was a weird twist (would've preferred it without) but the actual cheesecake was probably one of the better ones I've had around town. I ate at this place during my stay at the attached hotel based on the convenience. The food was good, but the service left something to be desired. At a typical restaurant you expect to see either a bartender at the bar, a hostess, or waiters buzzing around, but not here. It seemed that everyone was avoiding the patrons. They'd pay attention enough to get your order, clear your plate, and bring the bill. No follow ups on refilled water, cocktails or if the food was good. If this place wasn't attached to the hotel and it wasn't raining out, we wouldn't have gone. read more

The good...the service was good and very friendly and the drinks were well made. Mussels were the only highlight of the meal. The bad...the food was mediocre at best and ugh at worst. When you call a meal a risotto you would like something creamy and amazing. It was neither. I dont know what my wife ate but it was chevy and kinda disgusting. The burger I ordered med rare came in well and was sent back. The replacement was ok. The bouillabaisse was ok but a small piece of catfish with a high price point expected more. The ugly... First off, we visited Henley on Valentine's Day and they were offering a price fixe menu which included 5 courses. The cocktails here were very creative if maybe a bit overthought and we enjoyed one before corking our own bottle of wine. First course was a blood orange garden salad which was very refreshing and tasty. Next was a lobster bisque with lots of actual lobster in it. The next two courses were a blurs but there was a pork and risotto dish and another fish and black ink pasta. Food was decent but certainly not worth the $140 or so for the tasting but it rarely is at that price. The interior of Henley is very cool though, centralized around the bar with a very intimate vibe. This is probably a great happy hour spot but I will need to try the regular menu again before I recommend to others. read more

Came here on a Thursday night, while visiting Nashville. They offer valet, only $3, so thats nice. We were promptly greeted and seated, as we had reservations. The server was very friendly and personable and gave us good recommendations for things to do in Nashville. We had the hand pie appetizer, the shrimp pasta, the skirt steak and the apple Brown Betty for dessert. The hand pies were really good. The pasta was awesome, a little spicy, but not overwhelming at all. The skirt steak was cooked perfectly and the broccoli was awesome....make sure to order it as a side. The Apple Brown Betty was also really good. We'd definitely come back here if we were ever in town. read more

I was not very impressed with this place. First let me say, the staff was incredible. Extremely friendly and informative but the food was not so good I got the meat & cheese board, skirt steak and the blondies with ice cream The meat and cheese board was good but the skirt steak was not at all. I asked for it to be medium and it came out almost well-done. Skirt steak is one if not the cheapest cut of meat and it was almost $30 which is a little ridiculous. It was extremely chewy and didn't have much flavor. The dessert was very dry, and the ice cream, as I was told was "vanilla" it didn't taste like vanilla. I don't know if it gone off or it was a completely different flavor other than "vanilla" but it was very good. My wife ordered the Soufflé, it was eso rich of cocoa, NOT chocolate but just straight cocoa powder. It was pretty nasty. Which you have to wait 20 mins for and it's the most expensive dessert and it was not good at all. For what we paid it was too expensive for what we were given. Unfortunately, I will not be returning as the food just wasn't impressive for what you paid for it. It really seemed like they were trying to "wow" with specific ingredients but it really isn't needed. In my opinion if you're looking for "atmosphere" this place has it but there are tons of "atmospheric" places in Nashville that the price is about the same if not a little cheaper or just a tad bit more expensive but the food is WAY better. read more

Good: the atmosphere is very pleasing, its dim and romantic and comfortable. The staff were super nice (like almost weirdly nice i.e. Publix or Chick fil a). The egg rolls and sorghum rolls and burger were all very, very good. Not so good: The food was a little TOO literal in its Southern-ness. I am indeed a globe-trotting high-falutin' city girl, but little do many know, I come from an old southern family and I know my biscuits, k??? I got the duck confit and it was too salty, stringy and SUPER greasy. The gnocchi dumplings were good but it was just all soooo heavy and greasy. I also got the burnt broccoli salad, which was disappointing. The broccoli was basically steamed (ew) with a couple "burnt" spots and some bacon bits and kraft pre-grated cheese tossed on top. We also got the blondie dessert (mediocre, and no ice cream or whipped cream with it!!) and the banana pudding (I liked it but my husband wasn't impressed). Despite this, I might actually possibly try this place again. They have the atmosphere nailed and I'd like to try the chicken dish next time. read more

I returned to Henley recently and was wildly impressed! The last time I was there,service was scattered and sometime a bit snooty. This time around, we had a very warm and informed server who guided us through the brunch menu with confidence. And what a brunch it was! I had a perfect cappuccino, and my husband had hot tea. We weren't in a boozy mood, but tables around us we're enjoying mimosas, bubbles and other morning delights. The food was WONDERFUL! I'm not usually a sweet brunch person, but I confess I was delighted that my son ordered the exquisite cinnamon apple pancake - served piping hot in a cast iron skillet topped with ice cream! Let's face it - the dish was basically dessert, but it was so yummy! My husband leaned toward the light side and got a lovely omelette with a side of lightly dressed greens. I also opted for a side salad, but instead of a light entree, I had the mouth watering hot chicken sandwich. This masterpiece was so much more than the sum of its parts. The chicken thigh had been brined in pickle juice and expertly anointed with a spicy and savory breading. There was a Thai style carrot slaw to cool the heat,and the bun was perfect. This place has cleaned up it's act and then some. We were beyond impressed. The girls and I found this place on open table and came for a late Sunday brunch. Normally I don't like martinis but the espresso martini is a must try. Perfectly foamy, not too booze tasting or coffee tasting. You can tell they know what they are doing at the bar. The scramble was yummy but the cat fish toast wasn't what I expected. It was a little too much like a salted tuna so I sent it back for the avocado toast and our server was so sweet about it. My friend liked the cat fish though she has a salty tooth. The avocado toast was perfect and basic for my hangover. The egg on the top and the cherry tomatoes was a nice touch and the presentation was beautiful. The décor very Gatsby and the all black bathrooms gave a speak easy vibe that was cute. It was not crowded at all, only two other tables so I think you could walk in without a reservation. read more

I didn't realize this restaurant existed until my husband brought me here for Easter brunch. The inside decor was beautiful! I would describe the decor as The Great Gatsby meets Los Angelos. And the adjoining lobby to the hotel was really nice too. The bar was plentiful. Our server was not the most welcoming. Many of the menu items are procured locally and so the menu changes seasonally. I ordered the mushroom toast; it was the perfect amount of food and very tasty. My husband ordered a salad and I really liked the flavors and dressing, although I would say it was a bit small considering the price. Part of that day's brunch menu included a strawberry and rhubarb Dutch Baby. Neither of us had ever tried a Dutch Baby before, but I love strawberry rhubarb pie so I gave it a shot. But to our disappointment, our Dutch Baby arrived at the table with baked apples. No strawberries. No rhubarb. It would have been nice of the server to warn us about the menu change when we placed our order. And anyway, I ended up hating the Dutch Baby. The food was decent, but the prices were a little overinflated and the place lacked that warm Nashville feel. They did have an assortment of small desserts for free after your meal, but I'm not sure if this was only because it was Easter. Parking is free in the adjoining garage for the first hour. read more

I'm slightly obsessed with Henley. After two experiences I am thrilled to give them full stars!! I'm going to focus most of the review on a standard experience, which was a busy Friday night where we had dinner at the bar. They were booked up but we were able to get two seats and the bartenders were extremely busy and seemed short staffed. But we weren't in a hurry so it didn't impact our experience much. We ordered some cocktails which were delightful; the Long Weekend which was a nice vodka cocktail with prosecco and fancy things I can't describe. It was refreshing and delicious. My BF had the Old Belle which was very delicious and more booze heavy; a very nice cocktail. Not gonna lie we had a bit of a struggle ordering because it was so busy, but we ordered the trailer baby crackers and duck hand pies to start. Both appetizers were delicious, but the crackers were fantastic; pimento cheese, gulf crab, and celery which melded together on your palate in a perfect bite. We were so close to ordering a second helping of them they were so good. For entrees we had the squid ink gemelli and skirt steak. The gemelli had shrimp and was pretty salty, but in a good, "straight from the sea" kind of way. The steak was great too and perfectly cooked. We ordered a second round of cocktails and both liked our first ones better. I had the Last Years Crop which was made very well, but it was a mezcal drink which isn't my favorite, but if you are a fan should definitely order it! My other visit was a very special one-of-a-kind experience at Henley going to the Rabbit Hole, which is a private, table of 4 in the kitchen with a specially prepared multi-course chef's tasting menu with the optional drink pairings. It's a unique, memorable experience and worth the cost. It is pricey though, so come for a special occasion or prepared to spend some $$. I finally made it! I don't know why it took me so long, but better late than never... this place has such a warm atmosphere I barely wanted to leave once I got here. And the service and food was equally great. We decided to try a little of everything and share, that was a good choice because I promise you that you will wanna have a bite out of every dish that lands on your table! We started with the lamb skewers that was just so very tasty, bursting of flavors, juicy and served on a stick made out of sugar cane - yes you get to chew the sweetness out of that one, yummy! We got the mixed local greens that was beautiful presented with viola flowers on top and came tossed in a buttermilk dressing. (I forgot to ask for the dressing on the side and I'm very happy about that) if you are in doubt of what to order, do the 2 mushroom angelotti, that was the winning dish of the night, and let me tell you that was some stiff competition. The past was perfect al dented, and the mushroom creamy filling paired with little crispy pieces of bacon took us straight to food heaven! We then tried the soft shell crab, fried crisp and melting in your mouth, the manager came over to see if we liked it because they just put it on the menu, I hope they keep it for you to try it as well. Last but not least, we decided that there is always room for desser! I tried the upside down pineapple cake and we also got the lemongrass panacotta with chai ice cream. Get that one! Our server Jeanette was also one of the best servers we've ever had in our life (6 of us and were all in the service industry). She was so kind, personable, attentive & made our time here great. We stayed at the hotel so had breakfast here our last morning. Wish I would have tried sooner! The interior is beautiful! Service was fantastic! I'm a bit picky when it comes to omelets most of the time I shy away from ordering them at all. Most places serve them overcooked or smothered in oil/butter or cheese. You would think something so simple wouldn't be such a big deal but there are so many different ways to prepare them and all preferences are subjective. France is the only place I can order omelets with no qualms. But I went for it so I requested my omelet to be prepared with no butter, very little oil, light cheese and very light dressing on my salad...and...wait for it.....boom....nailed it!! Score!! It was so good!! I thoroughly enjoyed my entire breakfast! I tasted the hot chicken sandwich and fries and both were good esp those fries! Great coffee also! Unfortunately I can't review Henley's food as we never got to try it. We had made plans to travel to Nashville for Christmas and needed a restaurant for Christmas night. a lot of places were closed and Henley had very solid reviews so I made a reservation via Open Table about a month or more before our reservation. Christmas afternoon they called to confirm the reservation which I confirmed we would be there. Unfortunately once we arrived and got seated we learned for the first time that b/c of the holiday they went to a 5 course prix fix menu of $80 per person. Also, even though it was only 7PM, 3 of the items on the list were already gone. We had a round of drinks and they advised the server we would not be eating there as we were not interested in a prix fix menu. Obviously this put us in a hole trying to find somewhere to eat on Christmas night. I am giving 4 stars despite all this as the manager handled this situation so well. He came to apologize. I explained that neither in the open table reservation information, nor when I was called to confirm the reservation had anyone mentioned this prix fix menu. He was so sorry, offered to get us individual items off the menu if we wanted, picked up our drink tabs and went even further to help us find a restaurant to go to given the limited number of restaurants open this night. I was so appreciative and I can't imagine a better way to handle this unfortunate situation. We will be back to Nashville soon and I can promise Henley will be at the top of my list to try because it is obvious they care about their patrons and that is a large step to becoming a go to restaurant. read more

I realize it's been months since james garrido made a response to my rating of Henley restaurant. Just can't let it go. Everything is of course is my expressed personal opinion and evaluation. My response. My friend was not the bachelor. The plastic cup he had was not full of whiskey. I don't think Mr garrison tasted the drink as one would think following his statement. The uber had a construction across the door causing my friend to fall. Not alcohol. He was just to say bad things about the Uber. Your statement on continuing feeding him alcohol was and outright lie. You were even there. Your waitress served me the special old fashion. Worst drink ever. He tasted it as did the rest of the table so all would know the pathetic drink it was. We did not serve him alcohol. Outright lie. I told the agm this but was not offered a resolution. In my opinion again, your restaurants racial and political profiling is right on. We were not wearing buttons but it was obvious we were the only middle class white males in the restaurant and it showed on the service and food. I do not have much information on the AGM "pretty gurl" response. I can state from memory the waitress was pretty but was rude, had a poor attitude, messed up the entire order at the table, And made no apologies for her rudeness, poorly cooked food , and overall bad service. Yes, it was a bad night for us, all because we came to the Henley to celebrate. But we got bad service, incorrectly prepared food, rudeness and now lies from you who makes statements while not being there. All the above are my personal opinions and self evaluations. You do deserve to be disparage as a business. Also, your business did not serve good food or drink to our party. And again. I wish I could give Henley ten stars. This was one of my favorite dining experiences in Nashville- from the food to the wine to the service, everything was top notch and stunningly delicious. My table of 9 did the tasting menu in addition to a few snacks / communal dishes. If you can do the tasting menu, DO IT! It's not just food- it is an experience. It started off with yellowtail fish, which is a super light, beautifully plated and highly flavorful beginning. Think of this dish as any of John Mayer's old songs- like 3x5 or No Such Thing- simple but simultaneously complex and delicious. Then we had the agnolotti (a type of pasta) which was smooth and warm. Since I'm comparing these dishes to John Mayer's music (let's roll with it, it's 8am as I write this), think of this dish as Bigger Than My Body. Next was a surprise dish from the chef made of rice and crab and truffle and everything glorious. It was actually the highlight of my night and I hope they put it on the menu! John Mayer pairing is the whole Continuum album because I never wanted it to end. The pumpkin seed risotto was the table's overwhelming favorite, and it was definitely a thing of beauty. It's a play on traditional risotto, only made with pumpkin seeds, fermented pumpkin milk and topped with sunflower petals. I've honestly never had anything like it- the texture and flavors were very unique, like Mayer's country album I forget the name of. On to the 120 day aged sirloin. This steak was UN.REAL. It was cooked to perfection, and the leek ash / onion caramel concoction was SO rich and full of warm, smoky flavors. Another highlight for me, for sure. This is John Mayer's Gravity because every bite was epic. Then, because of a slight mixup that ended up working in our favor, we had chocolate soufflés for dessert. They cut open the center for us and put a ginger ice cream inside, which made for a beautiful, rich combination with a slight kick from the ginger. I guess this could be Mayer's new album because it is familiar but with a new twist? Did I take the John Mayer thing too far? Maybe. Do you need to try out Henley? 100%. read more

I've been wanting to try Henley for some time now. I struggled with my rating for a couple of reasons. between a high 3 to low 4.. Food wise 4.5 Let me start by saying - you'll need to park in the garage. There is no street parking. 1st hour is free. Good luck being done with anything within that time frame. The atmosphere - Wow! It is gorgeous inside. From how seating is set up and the rustic furniture this is a place I can go, have a good drink, and friendly or intimate conversation. It's really nice. Staff - although super friendly, it took about 10 mins for someone to come by just to put water on the table and another 5-10mins to come back to get our drink orders. By that time we knew drink wise and food items we were ordering (we didn't want another 10mins to go by so we needed to be ready) Food: The oyster - OMG... We only ordered a small plate to try - I could have gone a dozen by myself not because oysters are easy to eat, but they were delicious. The spiced lamb carpacio was also amazing. The short rib - they were out and I was bummed. So instead we went with the roasted whole chicken (this should be plenty for 2-3 people) It was very well cooked and included sides. It was wonderful. We wasn't sure if all this was going to be enough so we included the heirloom grits. The food overall 4.5-5.. easy. The knock down slightly was due to being out of the short rib. Drinks were well made and dessert was not bad, but I can almost eat anything sweet. Will definitely go back, i'll more than likely call first to make sure they have the short rib as I wanted to try it given that it's all I saw posted on their IG and Yelp. read more

PRETENCIOUS CRAP. I was amazed to see how this place could pretend to be a fine dinning establishment - when in reality - it was far from it! I am by no means a person that runs around giving good or bad reviews on a whim. In fact, I rarely give reviews unless I am extremely happy or upset by the food at a given establishment. Henley is one of those that was so far off the mark that I had to review it for the sake of others thinking of going there. I come from a background where high-end culinary foods are found in the majority of restaurants where I travel and so it's easy to see when a restaurant is trying to present themselves as a high class establishment - but fails miserably. The Henley has some of the worst interpretations of elegant or masterful menu items that I've had in a very long time. Each dish I tried was a poor attempt at blending what should have been truly elegant flavors and classical presentations. I was glad to have the opportunity to sample many different menu offerings, as it helped seal my conviction that this establishment failed to come close to offering anything that would be considered fine dining. The owners and/or managers need to get out into the world and see what fine dinning really is and taste truly exquisite dishes. If they really do feel their food is up to par, then I feel terrible that they could be so blind. Not worth the location. I had the sirloin entree. It came with potato spirals that tasted out of a can. Very limited menu. Not good.
