Trendy ambiance with FANTASTIC service, which is why I feel so bad for giving 3 starts because the food was just ok. We ordered the clam chowder, brisket, and pork chops. The clam chowder was the one thing that was delicious. The brisket had a lot of sun dried(?) tomatoes that overpowered the dish, and there was nothing particularly great about the pork chops. One thing to note is that the still water is $7, so if you don't want to pay for this, make sure to ask for the unfiltered tap water. The food was delicious, especially the fries that came with the burger; they were thin and crispy (I am a French fries snob). The Henley is a nice comfortable place to eat with a beautifully decorated inside that you could easily steal some ideas to decorate your own home. Connected to a hotel which is never a good thing in my book but does lend for a good parking situation (parking garage connected) As we walked in the front door of Henley we were greeted by a less then friendly hostess, she either was having a bad day or just really didn't want to be a work that day, but none the less there is room for improvement. Our server made up for the less then friendly host with a warm smile and friendly personality. We ordered: Crab dip + pimento cheese crackers 5 cheese quiche Apple French toast. All the food was good, solid, just not over the top crazy delicious..... EXCEPT the Apple French toast!! Take my advice and order the Apple French toast. They have happy hour Monday through Friday with an excellent selection of drink options - such as their surprise drink of the day - and some killer quick bites. I've been coming here a few times now and the service is always top notch. They have acoustic live music on certain nights of the week which definitely gives it some Nashville flare. Went for jazz brunch Sunday and were wowed. We're actually staying at the Kimpton, so this spot was easy, but it may end up being one of our favorite meals in Nashville. First, the vibe is on point. Jazz not country, very cool decor, and a little more grown up vibe than downtown spots :) But then the flavors are delicious. We got two brunch orders and then a kale Caesar salad which is sizeable but not too crazy since we split it along side our main bites. It was so good! A great dressing that has lots of flavor but isn't creamy like most. Luscious baby kale, not too stiff or bitter, then house fried focaccia croutons and fried Haloumi bites. I'm gonna have to try to recreate this one. The pork belly and fig jam waffle was also delicious. The waffle is actually a semi reasonable size because it's thin but still has a good crust with soft insides. It's soaked in butter and syrup and then fig jam holds the pork in place. There were some jiggly parts but my fave were the actual meaty parts that were basically caramelized... Maybe my fave though was the black pepper biscuit breakfast sandwich, with a fried green tomato, fried egg, herby goat cheese, and a little dressed frisee. The biscuit is the star and is soft and moist. The sandwich crumbles, as expected, but it's worth the mess :) read more

Looking for a last minute brunch reservation in Nashville ended up with us coming here on a Sunday. The ambiance is cute, love the live music. Started with some mimosas and wanted coffee cake that's on the brunch menu... when we inquired what the special cake was today (per the menu) the waiter was very confused and said they only had beignets. I said so your brunch menu is not accurate? He shrugged, guess not. Alright, ordered the burrito for my meal and while tasty is was SO TINY. Everyone did enjoy their food but portion sizes are rather small. I left hungry admittedly and that was disappointing. Also no alternative breakfast meat options, only pork. The night we stumbled upon this place for dinner quickly became one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Good food was becoming hard to find in Nashville and as an Arizona girl Who has a passion for food I could feel the sadness kicking in. As my colleagues and I sorted through countless reviews we agreed upon Henley and decided to give it a shot. Now the food here is amazing but they also have a secret weapon and his name is Brian. I've had good servers before but none compare to Brian. He patiently walked us through the menu, he asked questions about our likes and dislikes and suggested items specific to our needs. He was funny and it was easy to tell he has a can do spirit and great energy. Now add in some delectable food and you've got yourself the perfect night. This place is swanky feeling on the inside and boho feel on the outside patio, and it's located inside Kimpton Aertson Hotel. I enjoyed the ambiance. I went in on a Tuesday around 6pm. Sadly they do not have a happy hour. The AC was on full blast inside so we opted for an outside table. The only drink special was about 8 different versions of a Manhattan for $8. Unfortunately, I do not care for Manhattans. The cheapest glass of wine was $12 and the pours are only 5oz. Seemed steep for the size, in my opinion. Most items on the menu sounded delicious it was difficult to select just one. I opted for the pan roasted scallops and celery root entree. I was also eying the duck and dumplings as it sounded delicious. My entree comes out and it's three medium sized scallops and deli thin slices of celery and apple for $28. I'm sorry, but it was appetizer size, not entree and that price was extremely high for what was on the plate. The dish tasted good, I was just put off by the cost of it. The scallops were about 1.75" diameter and 1" tall. I'm curious what the portion sizes are like on other entrees or if maybe a scallop or two were left off my plate by accident... read more

Lovely! A great spot for dinner in Nashville away from all the insanity of Broadway and the preposterous amount of tractor/bus/firetruck-rolling-white-claw-bachelorette-wagons. The decor is fabulous. Loved the tufted sofas-booths. Cocktails were excellent and the menu had a great assortment of options for both foodies and no-so-foodies. The smoked wings and fried brie were excellent. The mussels were a generous portion but not as pristinely fresh as one might like (I mean, Nashville is pretty dang far from mussel-growing waters so I am being fairly nitpicky here). The quail was a good choice and a generous portion (two whole quails!) and friends raved about the burger as well. The chocolate souffle was worth the short wait and the banana pudding was also solid. Very happy with the meal and would definitely return if I brave Tennessee anytime again soon! read more

I went for a group for brunch, and everyone in the group of 12 was impressed with their food. Great mimosa special ($20 for a bottle and unlimited juices). The OJ taste fresh. I personally had the pumpkin french toast and hash, both were great. I think the most standout part of our meal was out waiter! He was phenomenal. He looked out for my food allergy, he made jokes, frequently checked back without being annoying, appeared to be in a good mood and enjoyed his job, and he was knowledgeable. The only negative was we signed up for a "brunch and bouquets" event which was advertised that we'd all her bouquets but it ended up being one/two tickets per table. We were a little disappointed with that. However, what kinda killed the mood was we were shown how many tickets they had for the day (which appeared like a lot) and then told "oh but you only get 2, because we want them to last until 2pm". My boyfriend took me here & it's perfect for date night -- the ambiance is romantic & the lights are low. When we arrived, the host made a comment along the lines of "we're super short-staffed tonight." Sure enough, there were only two waitstaff in the restaurant. However, our waiter was absolutely on point & really made the meal. He deserves all the props. Our drinks, the espresso martini & Prosecco cocktail, were fantastic. We started with the fried Brie, which was accompanied by pickled berries & frisée. This was far better than other fried cheese I've had at comparable restaurants in Nashville! So good. As our salad, we shared the haricot verts which were grilled & chilled with a light creme fraiche & new potatoes. For our main, we tried the cornbread gnocchi chicken & dumplings. This was basically deconstructed -- it was a piece of chicken with gnocchi dumplings, heirloom carrots, & peas in a broth. We were so intrigued that we had to try it. The chicken was cooked perfectly & the carrots were great, but the gnocchi itself was extremely bland & the peas were a tad dry. We got a side of new potatoes with chèvre & pesto, which were amazing. Of course, we had to try the coffee & chocolate devil's food cake for dessert. It was divine. Went here for Sunday brunch - it wasn't too crowded but we did have a reservation on OpenTable. We tried the coffee cake of the day (caramel) and it was delcious, almost had more of a croissant type texture. Also got the Biscuit beignets which had no taste to them at all, would pass on these next time. My mother in law got the heuvos rancheros which she said was good and had a nice spicy kick to it. I just got a side of bacon and wheat toast, both good, bacon was nicely cooked and thick. I tried ordering a cocktail off their specialty menu but they were missing ingredients so ended up with just a Captain and Coke. First time at Henley, I was a bit hesitant because I've heard mixed reviews. Atmosphere was super cute and the staff was very friendly, from the valet to the host, to our server and our chef. We started off with the caramelized onion dip, fall squash hush puppies and the bear creek farm beef tartar... we were disappointed and I started getting nervous about our entrees. All of our entrees were amazing. I got the grouper over smoked potato chowder, loved it! The ribeye was perfect, scallops & duck were also great dishes. We shared the side dishes. Food was very good. Looks like both the kitchen and the bar just released new menus. My wife and I ate dinner here and then the following day had brunch at The Chef and I. While we were eating brunch we both looked at each other and remarked that the food we had the previous evening at the Henley was superior. We tried probably half the menu, and everything was good or great. The cocktails were phenomenal with bartenders that knew what to recommend and enjoyed serving everyone at the bar. Zero complaints and we will definitely look to stop back in the future. When other cocktail bars are packed during the evening go here instead. You will not be disappointed. read more

After recovering from surgery, I had 8 breakfasts in a row at Henley while staying at the Kimpton hotel and never got tired of it. The most wonderful aspect of the Henley, however, is the staff. Every person who served us was delightful, hilarious, kind. The most amazing was Nyah, who went above and beyond at every opportunity to make me feel welcome and comfortable, whether that meant bringing me pillows to support my back or bringing food to my room when I was too weak to come downstairs, even enthusiastically greeting me when we crossed paths in the lobby, she went out of her way to make my experience fantastic. Went for breakfast and was very pleasantly surprised! I tried this place because it was attached to my hotel, so I wasn't expecting much--especially since most of the reviews on here are for lunch/dinner. But I had the Jambalaya Breakfast Burrito (I'm a sucker for culinary cultural mash-ups) and it was absolutely delicious. Just spicy enough that my nose was running a bit by the end, but not so spicy that you needed to constantly have a drink to cool your mouth down. It came with an herb cream that you could spread on it, but I tried it and liked it better without. Also, if you're a coffee snob (which I would reluctantly consider myself to be) you're in luck! Whoever the roaster is for this restaurant has great quality beans. I got a cappuccino and it was one of the best I've had in years--no exaggeration. Overall, it's a bit pricey, but as someone who travels for a living, it's one of the rare cases where you don't feel like you wasted a ton of money on boring/bland hotel restaurant food. I would eat here next time I'm in town, even if I'm not staying at this hotel. Worth the price tag. read more

Stopped by to check this place out after a night in Midtown and was not disappointed. Henley can be reached from the street or the lobby of the hotel, and at 11:30 on Friday, there were a few groups of people at the bar but it wasn't crowded. We looked over the drink menu and the bartender chatted with us, gave some great recommendations, and didn't make us feel pressured to order immediately. After some guidance on the menu, we got a few drinks and enjoyed watching them being expertly made. Having been to other speakeasy type bars, I expect a cool atmosphere, interesting menu, and friendly service -- all of which I got at Henley. But, this time I actually truly enjoyed my drink and want to come back. It's a change of pace from some of the other bars in the area, but I really enjoyed it and look forward to returning! read more

My husband and I went down the Rabbit Hole for dinner last night and it was truly a once in a lifetime experience! Hidden behind a wall in the restaurant is the four person chef's table that plays off of Alice in Wonderland as its theme. Diners enjoy a tasty shot as the beginning of the experience before venturing inside the kitchen. What follows is a unique culinary experience that you won't regret. Set aside the night as the meal spans over three hours. Of the fourteen courses we enjoyed last night, there were a few standouts IMO. 1) Beef w/ salsa mache & chocolate mousse--that was such a creative combination! I've had the flavor profiles before, but putting the aerated chocolate on top of the beef and letting it melt together was AMAZING. 2) Scallop crudo w/cantaloupe--yum! The chosen herbs really brought this dish together for me and it was a nice way to get the meal started. 3) Omelette--I can only wish to create eggs as awesome as these. The smoked trout roe on top was just the right pop of flavor as well. 4) Dessert--the three dessert courses were just perfect. Thanks to Chef Daniel for overhearing me say that I was craving chocolate because I was lucky enough to get a souffle to myself! In addition the the tasty meal, the service really made the night. Chef Daniel takes the time to explain his thinking behind each dish as it's presented, and GM James had a nice commentary to accompany the different beverage pairings. I wish I remembered the name of our server as she was just perfect, especially in dealing with some of my strange requests...like taking two entire courses home rather than eating them there (insert eyeroll). Couple of thoughts: 1) Cross your fingers for good table mates if you're going as a party of 2! We were lucky and meshed well with the other couple, but I suppose it could be an awkward experience for some. 2) It's costly, especially with the beverage pairings, but worth it! 3) Ask questions! I feel like we enjoyed our meal just that bit more because the four of us were being inquisitive with the chef and with each other. read more

I struggled to rate this place because I really would give it a 3.5/5. My husband and I went here for a Friday evening date night and drinks. It was quite since we were there fairly early in the evening and the service was attentive. We ordered some drinks (Wine for me and a special bourbon cocktail for him) and a charcuterie board. The tempranillo wine was DELICIOUS and he says his bourbon drink was made to perfection. For dinner, I ordered a scallop meal and he ordered some type of steak item. My scallops tasted well-made, even though it seemed like there was barely any food there to taste. That was really my biggest concern with it. My dish was mostly corn (as you can see) and it was REALLY small. His steak was prepared to his liking, but seemed odd to have fries on the side. Nothing special there. Overall, I ended on a 4 star because the ambiance is really nice and the food/drinks were really good. While overpriced and portions were small, it still was a nice meal. read more
