raw "peppered" steak

Absolutely unacceptable. One of the worst Jamaican food experiences I've ever had. I ordered pepper steak with rice and peas from Henrica's, and from the moment I opened the container, it was a red flag. The "pepper steak" was battered in flour--which is already questionable--and when I took the first bite, the steak was clearly undercooked and raw inside. It was disgusting and completely inedible. I stopped eating immediately. The rice and peas was just as bad. Bland, dry, and missing the most basic elements of what rice and peas is supposed to be. There was no coconut flavor and barely any peas at all. It honestly looked like plain white rice with a few peas sprinkled in as an afterthought. This meal was not edible, period. I called the restaurant right away to report the issue and was told I'd have to bring the food back in person for them to "review it" and then they would issue a store credit. Why would I want a store credit from a Jamaican restaurant that can't properly cook pepper steak or rice and peas, two absolute staples? The meal was only $10.59, so the pushback made no sense--especially when they expected me to drive back out of my way just to prove their food was poorly cooked. The lunch special also came with a so-called "juice." It tasted like straight white sugar water--no real flavor at all, just a red tint from who knows what. Completely artificial and unpleasant. Between the bad food, poor customer service, and the lack of accountability, I truly don't understand how this place is still in business. As a fellow Jamaican, this was especially disappointing. This type of food does not represent our culture or our cuisine. 0/10. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Save your money and your time. Run the other way. The only Jamaican restaurant I trust in Queens is The Door. upon return and after examination had to nerve to tell me it's red meat that's how it should look these people are BBC DISGUSTING AND NASTY

Jerk pork & Henrica's Jerk Chicken Pasta Alfredo

This place has been around for years, I've always ordered here but never actually been. I've ordered the jerk pork and chicken pasta. It was so good I mean absolutely delicious. This meal was so big it can feed two. I was greeted with amazing service by our waiter. She attended to us the entire time. I would say they can use a refresh with there interior. It does seem a little outdated I feel. But overall this place has been a 10 out of 10 definitely recommend. I will be coming back here for sure. Also tooooo, the PINA COLADASSSS ARE SOOOOO GOOD!!!

Was invited by a family member to this spot for drinks and appetizers. Easy to get to. It is close to Belt Parkway. LIRR Is also a short walk from this place. There is street parking as well as meter parking. It was a Wednesday afternoon so it wasn't crowded. But the pepper shrimp were delicious. They did leave our fingers red, but they were flavorful and not too spicy. The wings were deliciously crispy and saucy. The jerk chicken was tender and juicy. The dipping sauce was yummy! The service from Tanisia was great. She was pleasant and not overseen. Her timing was perfect! I would definitely return. I heard they do a buffet and music on certain nights. Hopefully I can attend

I've been to Henrica's many times over the years and I always enjoy myself! My family had my college graduation dinner here in 2019 before I got on Yelp. But I was here recently with my mom and niece and had to do a review. My mom loves this place. The food never disappoints. The staff is always nice and there's a live DJ sometimes. This night I had the curry shrimp, and carrot juice and I LOVE me some carrot juice. I was not disappointed. My mom tore her cowfoot up! We'll keep coming back to Henricas.

Came to Henrica's for a few drinks. The bartender here was such a sweetheart! I don't know her name, but she was awesome. I ordered a rum punch which was strong (in a good way)! She also had some left over strawberry daiquiris which she gave us a sample of. Overall seems like a chill spot for food and drinks.

Fried Shrimp appetizer...ALL Raw Shrimp. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING

Long time customer. This restaurant always has subpar service & Turn around time on food. Food Is delicious and it's the only reason I return. Visited recently and experienced something I have never experienced ANYWHERE. I ordered 2 Fried Shrimp Appetizers amongst other things. The shrimp was the issue. Crispy on the outside, Raw Shrimp on the inside. I checked both orders. Cut into each and every shrimp. Same. I'm writing this because not only am I disappointed with raw food but when I went back to return the food there was no regard for the mishap. No apology. No emotion or regret behind that counter. Unacceptable.

These people are so fuckin slow!! never order take out from henrikas tou will be waiting for an hr after the order.

Henrica is my go to for Jamaican food in Queens. The serving sizes are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious.

It is in the parking lot of Walmart/Home Depot but closer to the BJ's side. The wait was a bit long to order the food. They have a great ordering system in that they have a megaphone to call out your receipt number. I had a bit of a wait to receive my food. I initially went for corn soup and I should have just stopped ordering right there. The corn soup was very tasty. I didn't care for the dumplings that they had in it though. I poured pepper in my soup and it was real nice. I should have gotten two soups. I got an aloo pie with channa, pepper, tamarind, mango, cucumber, and chadon beni. This could have used more flavor, which is surprising, especially with all of the toppings on it. I got bake and saltfish with tamarind and pepper. I truly did not like or enjoy this at all. I took one bite and knew I shouldn't eat anymore. I took another bite to be sure and after that bite decided to just take my L and throw it all out. The saltfish was rubbery, at room temperature, and it tasted off. The bake itself seemed like it would taste okay but it was soggy and soaking in liquid. I literally opened this shortly after getting it so i don't know how the bake could be so soggy. I would not recommend the bake and saltfish at all. The aloo pie is okay but it wasn't giving what it needed to give. However, the corn soup was delicious. Def go for the corn soup.

I was just as excited to come here as I was for the concert! First of all, the service was SO PERSONAL. Everyone there was so friendly, chatting with us about veganism, etc. The owner especially was so sweet and made us feel like we were really being taken care of. We didn't want to go crazy with ordering since we were going to be going to a concert right after and tried to order light by sharing the jerk chicken sandwich, a pumpkin patty and a jackfruit/chickpea patty, cassava fries, and a slice of pie which I think they said was some type of potato "pudding"? Everything was so delicious, substantial, and satisfying! The cassava fries were light and not greasy at all but still had so much unique flavor, I was swooning over them! The jerk chicken was out of this world and I regret not getting a whole one for myself! The seasoning, the crisp of the "chicken," even the bread it was on was perfect. Both patties were warm and savory, a perfect handheld snack. AND THAT PIE! Unlike anything I have ever eaten - it was just the right amount of sweet, loaded with spices and flavor, dense and chewy. One of those things that you eat and then can't stop thinking about. We had half of it saved and I'm not going to lie - I thought about it a few times during the concert and then immediately dug into it in the car afterward! I don't want to come back here, I NEED to come back. The menu is so extensive and I want to try some of the entrees - hoe many places do you know that serve vegan oxtail?? I need to try it. I am so happy that we found Toma-Tis and I will be recommending it all of my friends, vegan or not! (FWIW, my husband is not vegan and he devoured everything happily!) If you live nearby, I am so jealous. I would be a regular if I did!

When you walk in for the lunch or dinner rush, the sheer volume of options hits you immediately. The protein lineup alone is a masterclass in variety, covering every angle from deeply smoky jerk chicken, BBQ, and rich brown stew to curry goat, tender pork, and pristine fish like porgie and red snapper. It's supported by an endless array of staples--perfectly executed rice and peas, clean white rice, green bananas, and sweet, caramelized plantains. There is quite literally too much to list, but the execution remains remarkably high across the board. The staff keeps the line moving with a pleasant, welcoming energy, and while the legendary Jamaican breakfast menu remains uncharted territory for me, the dinner rotation alone makes this place an automatic favorite. Food (4/5): A massive victory for variety and flavor. To pull off this many traditional Caribbean proteins--from oxtail and curry to perfectly fried fish--and keep them all consistently tender and deeply seasoned at a buffet scale is a serious achievement. Decor (3.25/5): Unpretentious, functional, and clean. It's a space built for high-volume neighborhood traffic where the visual focus is kept exactly where it belongs: on the food. Customer Service: The staff is consistently warm, patient, and efficient, maintaining a welcoming neighborhood vibe even when the counter gets absolutely slammed. Price: Around $15 per person. For a heavy, high-quality, fill-your-plate to the brim ..... Caribbean feast in this day and age, the value here is completely unmatched.
