I understand the pull to eat seafood when in Kittery, HOWEVER, I would highly recommend H8 as my FAVORITE sandwich shop in the state. Hand carved roast beef, turkey, and pork sandwiches - with some incredible combos on a soft warm roll. I had the Squire with the cranberry sauce and hot gravy and my partner had the Tower of London- a twist on the Reuben. There are. GF options as well. The outdoor seating is well covered, and there were people sitting here with dogs. A great idea for travelers and tourists with pets. Perhaps the best part? The gentleman at the counter was one of the nicest people I have encountered working in a COVID-esque environment. Absolutely in love.

I stop in when in Kittery. Nice clean restaurant and cool theme. The sandwich roll is the bomb and always soft sour dough fresh... I ordered the court Jester roast beef that has hot gravy and mushrooms.... Excellent sandwich. My same complaint each time I eat there is meat would taste more tender and easier to eat than cubing meat? Not sure why cubing vs. slicing? Actually likely easier to cut on-a slicer than hand chopping. Quick service, in and out without dealing with a tip or waitress/ waiter service.

This is a must stop whenever we're in Kittery. Their sandwiches are SO good. Warning - do not get the straight up horseradish sandwich because it is really spicy just like the warning on the menu states. The roast beef is not sliced like other delis but rather chopped like other reviewers have said. I don't think this is an issue but some people may not like it. The horseradish mayo is delicious. There is plenty of seating inside and outside but we opted to take our sandwiches with us during COVID and so we could enjoy it when we got home. Wish it was closer!

Ordered two Henry VIII to go. Their signature sandwich?? Could almost be mistaken for finger sandwiches. What a rip off for 10.50 a pop. Small amount of cubed meat and horseradish sauce maybe a teaspoon worth. Nothing special here. Certainly not worth the stop. Disappointed.

I came for a roast beef sandwich. I got a roast beef sandwich, with Cheddar, lettuce and tomato on a terrific tasting roll. BUT.......instead of being thinly sliced to enhance the flavor and tenderness of the beef, they chose to cut into chunks resembling poké. The flavor of the beef was outstanding but I could not enjoy it because it was too chewy. My potato salad was quite fresh and delicious. I prefer potato salad with egg and some kind of pickle on it. This didn't have that but was nonetheless delicious as evidenced by my empty bowl. If I were to remain in the area, I'd try one of their other sandwich offerings - pork loin, ham, turkey.

Fairly decent sandwich, but just way overpriced for what you get. The sandwich is small. I would rather pay a few dollars more and get a larger sandwich. Feels very similar to earl of sandwich. Bread was fairly good. The meat was tender. Something about the ratio was off though. Still a decent find in a random off beaten city.

Some of the best roast beef I've ever had. The spice of the horseradish was perfect. And the clam chowdah was pretty awesome too. Buttery!!

The service was very good, our bartender was attentive throughout our dining experience. The food was amazing and came out pretty quickly. We had a lobster roll (ordered warm) which was buttery, if you like it that way & Haddock tacos. My martini was very strong, maybe a little too much for myself, but not complaining! For dessert, we split the blueberry cheesecake, it was DELICIOUS. Would definitely return here if I was driving back to Maine in the future.

His replies were delayed, his tone was monotone, and he did not seem confident with the menu. When my wife asked if they had the blueberry beer, he took the menu from the table and stood there reading it silently instead of checking with the bartender. Later, when my wife went to modify a dish, he said he was not sure they could do that. She told him, "I know they can. I do this every time I am here," and that is when he mentioned he had only been working there a few months. It explained the uncertainty, but it did not make the interaction smoother. The strangest moment was when I said I did not like the club soda. He came back and said, "Since you do not like the club soda you will not like the flat water, so I brought you a sparkling bottle instead since it is the same price." It was not rude. It was simply a very odd assumption and not something I have ever had a server decide on their own. On the positive side, the star of the meal, and honestly every time we come, is the shrimp cocktail. Huge shrimp served over crushed ice with cocktail sauce and extra horseradish. The shrimp were incredibly fresh, very firm, and had that perfect crunch with each bite. Absolutely delicious. The kitchen continues to deliver, and the rest of the staff seemed great, but the service at our table did not match the usual experience. We will be back for the food, especially that shrimp cocktail, but hopefully with a more confident and consistent front of house experience next time.

We also tend to skew all over the place regarding the ethnicity of foods we like. I go for Asian foods and that's not my husband and son's preference. I happen to love street food from all countries as I know that is usually the best! What fun to have a place to try various types. This place was perfect for multiple reasons. Everything we had was tasty and satisfying. The decor was fun and the service was friendly. They both got lamb shawarma, my kid had it with fries. They were both very satisfied. I had a an Asian salad with a protein of Korean bbq beef... There were a number or different proteins offered. One of the ways I can tell if I like a restaurant if they have good salad dressing (imho most don't) and the salad dressing was delicious. A nice lemon vinaigrette. Will definitely stop by again on another one of our trips to see Grandma.

This was our first visit, and we tried the chicken sandwich, potstickers, and cauliflower. Everything had really good flavor and a nice level of spice, and the portions felt fair for the price. The chicken sandwich was tasty, although I thought the chicken itself could have been a little thicker and juicier. I also liked that they cut the sandwich in half, but the tape around it felt a little excessive and made it harder than it needed to be to actually eat. That said, the flavors were very good, the pricing felt reasonable, and I enjoyed both the food and the beer. From a value standpoint, I thought they did a lot right. The main thing that kept the experience from being better was the service on the patio. The staff was not unfriendly at all, but it was difficult at times to get someone's attention, and simple requests seemed to take longer than they should have. That's something I'm noticing more and more in restaurants lately. If guests are being asked to tip at full-service levels, there still needs to be consistent follow-through and attentiveness throughout the meal, especially on a patio where it can already be harder to get someone's attention. Overall, though, I would recommend the place. The food was flavorful, interesting, and reasonably priced, and I'd definitely be willing to come back and try more of the menu.
