Visited this spot twice during winter 2026 restaurant week for $45 three course dinner. Make reservations--this place is tiny, so seating is very limited and you won't be able to just walk in during peak dinning hours [especially Friday through Sunday]. The bar is tiny, seating only 7 people, and it's where we sat Friday night. The bartender [and our server] was phenomenal--wish we got his name. He had an earing and deserves all the kudos for spectacular service all night long. We took our time and never felt rushed. He made perfectly balanced drinks, keeping us happy. Espresso martini and all the non-alcoholic drinks were superb. Very refreshing and balanced. The manager/owner mingles with customers, ensuring everyone is happy. He was attentive and that was appreciated. Tuesday night, we had a very different experience. All the staff looked like they were still in high school. Our drinks tasted like they had zero alcohol, and comparing to a delicious experience Friday night, we knew that the issue was with who mixed the concoctions. People are other tables also left their mixed drinks almost untouched. Unfortunate timing. Maybe the new staff were being trained. Our order was also messed up a few times. Then our dessert was forgotten. Seems like logistics were off that night. All small things, but they add up and take a star off. The atmosphere is casual and low key. Tables are very close together due to space constraints, so this isn't a spot for big groups or intimate chats. Prepare for higher than average noise levels as the cacophony of conversation rises in a tight space. The prices are higher than what you'd expect for such an unassuming, casual, minimalistic environment. That is due to the quality of food, so prepare to spend a pretty penny here. I totally understand this for quality meat--game is not cheap. We paid $300 for two people on our first night and $200 for two people for our second visit [when we got bad luck with watered down drinks and decided not to waste more money on repeats]. We are not wine people, so we cannot speak to the extensive wine selection here. However, all the mixed drinks should be strong and adequately sized for the price. Getting a microscroping glass of an espresso martini or hot toddy for that price AND not tasting any alcohol in those baby glasses is not acceptable. Complimentary foccacia with olive oil is a nice touch. Turtle soup [served with a side of sherry that I highly recommend adding to give it that extra oooomph] was delicious. Definitely try this if you can. So hearty and satisfying. Additional $6 upcharge for venison bourguignon was so worth it. Such delicious meat. Divine sauce. I could eat this dish daily and be happy. Tender and flavorful venison. Additional $8 upcharge for a side of Fries. They were superb--fired in beef fat/tallow, the quality shows. I never eat fries, but these I devoured both times and felt supreme joy. Not greasy or heavy. Perfectly satisfying. It's insane, but I'd return just for these. What a difference quality ingredients make. You can taste it. Additional $8 upcharge for a side of Brussels sprouts. They were not my favorite. They were not crispy. Sauteed in oil with some bacon. You can skip this. All the desserts looked scrumptious--so there is no wrong choice here. Keylime pie was perfectly tangy and satisfying. Flourless chocolate hazelnut cake was a divine conclusion to the meal--not too sweet, dense and decadent and chocolatey and warm in the best way possible. Would I return again? Yes, the food was delicious, I'd want to try more menu items. Would I return outside of restaurant week considering the prices, the tight seating, and potentially wacky service? Winter Restaurant Week Review 3/6- Recommendations for restaurant week: Apps- Goat cheese salad or pappardelle. Mains- Pomegranate duck, schnitzel, or branzini. Desserts- Persian lime pie. Lime pie is Steve's quality, and you can quote me on that. I went to this American spot for restaurant week a few days ago, having been there once ages ago when I used to live in Cobble Hill. I had a different experience than most folks probably had or will have during restaurant week, with our group sharing food outside of individual desserts, of course. The service was friendly, and we were seated in a somewhat cramped space in this slightly dim place (in advance, pardon the lighting for photos.) Their special is $45 for three courses, which is pretty reasonable given that most appetizers on the main menu are around $20 and most main dishes range from $35 to $45. However, the caveat is that many of the better dishes are an extra $6, with some worth it and others less so. To drink, I had a Hot Toddy with bourbon, St. Germaine, honey, lemon, and clove for $12, which was standard and helped warm me up after walking across the bridge to get there. They gave us some Focaccia and olive oil to begin with, which was tasty. For appetizers, my favorite that didn't have an extra charge was the Pistachio Crusted Goat Cheese Salad with roasted beets and citrus vinaigrette. The highlight, of course, was the goat cheese, which was nutty and slightly funky. I wish there were more roasted beets, and otherwise, I found the dressing a bit light. For $3 extra, there was the Pappardelle with buffalo oxtail ragu, which was small but tastier. The pasta wasn't the biggest portion, but it was perfectly cooked, and the ragu had a good consistency. If you don't mind paying a bit more, I would recommend it. The remaining appetizer, the Ozark Bar-B-Q Ribs, was a bit disappointing. While I liked the sauce, which had a sweet and spicy flavor, the ribs were very tough and a bit too fatty. For the main course, my easy favorite was the Duck with pomegranate sauce, which was a $6 supplement. The portion was very large, consisting of several pieces of sliced duck along with a duck breast. The sliced duck was tasty, but the larger piece was even more tender and flavorful. The sauce itself had a mild sourness and sweetness, and at the end, a few folks were mopping it up with the remaining bread. Also tasty, but $3 extra, was the Pan Roasted Branzini with white beans, escarole, and tomato confit. The fish was cooked well, being tender with crispy skin. The beans were mildly cooked and still had some texture, and I particularly liked the fish with the escarole, as the mild bitterness worked well. This was pleasant but perhaps a bit mild, and I think a light sauce would have helped, possibly with garlic and other ingredients. We also got Grilled Scottish Salmon with three mustards, cream, and horseradish. The fish was cooked nicely again, but I found it a bit too pungent. The remaining dish with supplements, the Venison Bourguignon, with carrots, pearl onions, mushrooms, and bacon, was good, though a bit small compared to the other dishes. This was $6 extra, and the meat itself was tender, while the sauce was rich. I found it just a little bit salty, and I presume that was from the bacon, but it was good and honestly better than many of the generic bistros in the city. Speaking of bacon, we also got an $8 side of Brussels Sprouts, which were decent. The best main dish sans supplement was the Chicken Schnitzel with porcini gravy, mashed potatoes, and dill. The chicken had a nice light breading and was very tender. The mushrooms added earthiness, and the mashed potatoes were soft and buttery. Also lightly fried, but worse was the Veal Lemonese with breaded cutlet, Grana Padano, and lemon cream sauce. Outside of sauce preferences, as both were prepared well, the veal was unfortunately much less tender. For dessert, most of us got their highly recommended Persian Lime Pie with fresh lime pastry and a graham cracker crust. Instead of being a wide piece, this was more of a pie jar, similar to how Mia's in Cobble Hill, among other locations, serves it. However, the comparisons end there, with the flavors being much better. The filling had a perfect mix of sourness and sweetness. In terms of NYC, this was honestly the closest thing to Steve's Key Lime Pie that I've had. Another person had the Flourless Chocolate Hazelnut Cake with whipped cream, which was a bit above average but not comparable to the pie. We overall had a pretty good meal here at this neighborhood spot. It's not the best for any particular dish, but it was mostly worth it for the price, especially if you don't mind paying extra for some things. Mid 3 bumped up. read more

My friends and I dined at Henry's End before an event in the neighborhood. Everything was perfect, from the food to the service! Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and everything we ordered was delicious. We started with their spritz cocktail - refreshing and delicious. One of my friends and I shared the mushroom salad - it was amazing. The mushrooms were warm and plentiful, and the dressing over the greens was the perfect complement. I ordered the sole with mushrooms and lobster for my main dish and ate the entire thing, which I never do. It was delicious! For dessert I shared the Persian lime dessert - think key lime pie but lighter. It was so flavorful and light and I wish I ordered my own... maybe next time! Even the decor was warm and inviting, and I liked the neon artwork on the wall across from the bar. We said upstairs and the space is small, but they do have a cellar downstairs where you can dine as well. I'll definitely go back and would love to try dining downstairs next time. read more

Caught the tail end of their wild game menu and I'm so glad I did. I've been meaning to come here for years, so it was exciting to finally check it out. Sure the ambiance leaves to be desired (not bad just bland), but it's a genuine hometown place and the service is great so you really can't hate on that. But the menu is the star anyhow -- we ordered some squab dumplings (only four, but tasty if not a little under seasoned), wild boar ragù (lovely! Wild boar is interesting, more steak-y than pork-y but with the texture of carnitas), and some elk chops (absolutely delicious and interesting. Hard to describe but only because it's a subtle and lovely flavor). I was also thrilled that our timing lent to the bread basket coming with matzoh and charoset -- now that's some gaddamn Brooklyn for ya! Also tried the calvados old fashioned and the Antibody which was a rather delicious gin and St Germain cocktail. Both were nice, unique and pleasant. I love this sort of low key New York institution, glad it's still around and can't wait to come back. read more

Visited on a Friday night and took advantage of the restaurant week menu on offer (3 courses for $45). We were booked for 6pm and although there were only a couple of tables occupied when we arrived the place was full by 7pm. We ordered oysters as a pre starter and were looking to follow this with the Ozark BBQ ribs and West Indian shrimp. We saw other tables be served homemade focaccia but we didn't get any of this (it did look nice though). Unfortunately our oysters and starters all arrived at the same time. The manager did come and ask us if this was what we intended once it was all delivered and we said no but we would make it work (we didn't want to send food back/cause any issues for the kitchen). We worked through the oysters first so by the time we got to our hot starters they were just warm, but still very tasty. The sauce on the shrimp was really good (some bread to mop it up would have been great haha). My other half said his ribs were excellent - sauce was tangy. For mains we both went for a supplement charge item. I had the duck and my partner had the pork porterhouse, both of which were really tasty (and cooked perfectly). Something I wasn't made aware of though is that most of the main courses didn't come with any accompaniments at all, so I was just served a plate of duck. The pork did come with some cannellini and fava beans so that bulked the dish out a bit more. I do wish I had been told the duck didn't come with anything as I would have ordered a side, maybe something for the staff to work on in the future. For dessert we had the key lime pie and the mud pie. Both were good (and the mud pie was a generous portion). We shared a bottle of wine and all in all (including tax and tip, which they include automatically on the bill) the total came to $230 for the two of us. It is worth noting that the portions for restaurant week are smaller than usual, so just keep that in mind. In hindsight we wished we had just ordered a full sized starter and main from the normal menu. We also felt a little rushed (we were leaving just after 7pm, after arriving at 6pm, for a 3 course meal and oysters). All in all I would give Henry's End 3.5 star based on this experience. The food quality is very high but on this night the service just let things down slightly. However, we would try Henry's End again on a quieter night (and probably ordering from the main menu). read more

Came here for our anniversary and I gotta say it was a true pleasure! Our reservation was honored early as we traveled in from eastern long Island. Manager, server and bartender all showed awesome service and hospitality. I came for the wild game meniu and my wife enjoyed things from thier traditional menu. GET THE TURTLE SOUP! As a lover as all things wild game, i was thrilled when I heard about their wild game menu. 38 years running, HE sports a special menu in the winter months. I couldn't have been more pleased. This family owned restaurant definitely delivers. Warm and cozy inside, we tried the squab dumplings, turtle soup and the elk chops. Each dish was perfectly prepared and was such a nice departure from the usual. Our server (owner's daughter) was great-easy to chat with, welcoming, and provided great recommendations. The meal was exceptional, the owner found time to match wines and discuss as we had a common interest in wine, his choices were fantastic, the waiter was as close as we have experienced to waiters in Paris, subtle and timely without being intrusive, the coffee was as good as we have found in the USA, and on a par with Italian or Australia, the meals were to die for, we had venison, New York steak w peppercorns and venison, all perfect cut the steak with a butter knife. Came here with my family for restaurant week, party of 3. Another uncomfortably tight restaurant. Not even the servers can properly get around to fill water cups or deliver food. The food was good but there were some questionable things. First, we had a West Indian shrimp appetizer which was delicious but shrimp could've been cooked more. It was chewy to the point where I spit it out. Next, I ordered the Herb-crusted Salmon and was asked how I wanted it cooked "medium rare or medium". I ordered medium because that was the most cooked option I was given. When it came out I was iffy on it, it had the nice buttery texture but that was because it wasn't completely cooked through. I ended up switching plates with my mom because her chicken schnitzel was too salty for her, and she sent the salmon back to be cooked more. I think they honestly put it in the microwave but she didn't finish it. Dessert was the best thing we had, highly recommend the apple cobbler and flourless chocolate cake! We arrived early (left from Long Island early due to traffic) and was sat in their outside area, which is at an angle. The manager did say, "happy anniversary." Which is nice. We tried to order the appetizer first while we perused the menu, but the waitress told us she had to put it all in at once. Alright. We ordered the corn crusted calamari, my husband some kind of fish, and I ordered the special, duck with pomegranate. I had decided on this restaurant because they had duck and game in their menu. Calamari was good, flavor was nice but I felt the aioli was just a bit too spicy for me. That's a personal preference. My husband enjoyed it. I had one of the best dark and Stormies ever. My duck came out, and was ICE cold in the center. I have never experienced that before. The waitress was apologetic and after discussing with the manager the dish I could get fired the quickest (remember it's my anniversary I wanted to dine WITH my husband), we decided on the tuna. After my husbands fish was cleared (he enjoyed it) and maybe ten minutes later my tuna came. I scarfed it down and tried to make the best of it by ordering desssert, the black and white mousse. It came out on a plate that said, "happy anniversary" in chocolate. Nice We get the bill and obviously they removed the cold Duck, but not any other adjustments to compensate for ruining by anniversary dinner. My husband and I have always had a really lovely time at Henry's End - during the summer, we love to take advantage of the outdoor seating and dine with our pup, and the staff are always super friendly and accommodating. Delicious rotating specials and a great drink menu as well - love the sangria. Portions are generous with quality ingredients, and well-seasoned. They currently have an amazing butternut squash soup. We also look forward to the complimentary bread every time - so fresh and yummy. We've never had an issue with reservations, and while they were extremely busy last week, we asked if we could stop in - owner/host was agreeable and said as long as we could finish up by the next reservation time, he could fit us in. I think communication goes a long way these days, so if you're looking for something and unsure - just ask. Pro tip - sign up for their mailing list and they send a sweet postcard in the mail for $25 off a dinner entree. Great waiters and service ! But food very disappointing, my husband had the duck it was gamey and not good tasting at all , I had a veal dish which wasn't bad, but was very tiny portion. My à la carte mashed potatoes tasted like instant mashed potatoes. The salads were blah with not much dressing too bad for a neighborhood place. My mirror usually reassures me that I'm an exotic creature and I finally built up the confidence to join my kind, and then eat them. Our friend called in to make reservations without actually making reservations but the host was kind enough to sneak us in for a table before the horde arrived. We ordered big bird potstickers, Rudolph's unlikeable cousin, Bambi, Bugs Bunny and truffle fries. I'm a sucker for chicken so the rabbit was my favorite sacrificial meal for the night. Consistently a shining star of a Brooklyn dining experience. They are all about the customer- making you glad you chose to have a meal there. Service is tops as is the carefully crafted cuisine. While the food, service and atmosphere will be presenting you with finer dining, it is more relaxed and unfussy. There is a reason they have been around long enough to see other revered places come and go- they know what they do and they they do it well. This is the kind of place that you can easily enjoy a date or impress out of town guests that probably have pre-conceived notions of what Brooklyn dining is like. Decided to come to Henry's End as it was very close to our apartment and the menu seemed impressive. When we arrived, we definitely felt like we were in for a treat. The restaurant was nice and had an overall really cool vibe, and our server was super friendly. The service was top notch and our server was fabulous, and nothing was left to be desired in that department. When it comes to the food, however, that is a different story. The menu, while impressive to the eye, leaves you disappointed in terms of taste. I had the walnut crusted chicken and it was very dry. I also ordered a side of mashed potatoes and received a plate of cold, clearly frozen mashed potatoes that tasted like they did in elementary school. The mustard chops weren't welcomed, thank you-- I ordered the elk chops; they had an excessive, overpowering amount of mustard. I enjoy and can handle well spicy foods, but this was an overkill. I was tearing up, and couldn't taste the meat allegedly exquisite meat underneath the mustard. Shame on the chef! The black sea bass and the consommé were alright, to be fair. Nice Pinot Noir, ok.
