Can't deny it, Henry's Tavern sets a comfortable bar when it comes to an airport sit-down eatery...and yes, bar. Fabulous, friendly service (thank you Whitney) that laughs at your "just got off a morning flight terribly timed jokes", great pacific northwest views, clean and well-spaced tables and two-tops, and delicious, clearly-just-made food and snacks. A+ seasonal pineapple jalapeño margarita, calamari and that freshly made in-house brownie sundae... omfg... sorry for the sugar high on the next flight seat 4B, so very sorry read more

While waiting for our flight, I was trying to find a place to eat. There's not much to choose from in the airport. I was craving a burger so I decided to stop in at Henry's Tavern. I haven't stepped foot into Henry's Tavern since they close the downtown Portland location. The restaurant was so busy, as it always is when I am traveling. Pretty much all the tables were full, I saw a waitress wiping down an empty table. We waited about 10 mins before we were seated, which wasn't bad considering how busy they were. Ordered a couple drinks while we waited for the food. The drinks were okay, nothing special. My exotic mojito tasted so sweet, like nothing but juice. Ordered a chicken club and a side order of the Gorgonzola fries. These fries were pretty much the reason I used to go to Henry's Tavern before they closed down in Portland. The chicken club was a little disappointing and very underwhelming. The chicken on the sandwich was so thin and so skimpy, and the sandwich lacked flavor. It was such a tiny piece of chicken that the sandwich was basically all veggies. The Gorgonzola fries were almost as good as I remember! Lots of flavor with the perfect about of saltiness. Restaurant was clean, very busy and the waitress we had was nice and friendly. Checked on us once while we were eating. Got our food in a reasonable amount of time and fast enough to where I had time to eat and didn't feel rushed before my flight. Finished my food 20 mins before my flight. read more

I came in during peak airport chaos at 6am with flights actively taking off and a completely full bar. There was a clear sense of urgency and airport anxiety in the room but instead of feeling rushed or overlooked I felt taken care of. Skill moved with purpose and awareness. He understood the immediate need and worked quickly without losing kindness. Even while managing a full bar that early in the morning he made people feel seen. It really made me appreciate hospitality on a deeper level. Being heard acknowledged and served efficiently mattered more than being buttered up with extra time we simply did not have. Ironically and fittingly his name is Skill because that is exactly what defined the experience. read more

This was one of the only spots in the terminal that looked appealing so we gave it a try! Service was super quick and the beer selection was good! I ordered the Mac and cheese with bacon and it was insanely yum! The bacon was sprinkled on top and folded into the entire dish. We also ordered the BLT turkey sandwich with fries. They forgot to put the bacon and we had to call the waiter to get a side of it. The fries which were extra crispy and seasoned well! read more

Portland still surprised me everyday. We went to Henrys before our flight to grab some bites. Usually we would head for a mod pizza or sandwich at potbellies. Never disappoints. But this time we wanted just relax and get some service. We did and we have been pleasantly surprised by a nice service but even better food. Now when you think of airport food you think of often fried something quickly made. And sure you get this here but with a nice twist. We had the tempura fried cheese curds and this would mostly be it on any other airport. But her me you get the curls and onion with peppers in tempura. Accompanied by a delicious pepper jelly. Then a wedge salad nothing surprising here just a fresh piece of a wedge easy to split between two. The main was a veggie burger which we opted for additional Gorgonzola fries. The burger bun was crispy and as ok as a white bread can be and the veggie & bean paddy very tasty and lightly crispy pan fried. This was one of the few restaurants open late by our gate. We were sat and helped right away. The server was great and she was fast. We ordered fries, hummus, and cheese curds. The cheese curds are tempura fried which makes them really light. The serving of fries was very small. We probably shouldn't have ordered them. The hummus was probably our favorite. It was flavorful and the serving size was pretty large. read more

An airport burger joint is exactly what me and my girls needed after a long day of traveling. These burgers and fries hit every point we needed and wanted! They were juicy, flavourful, and perfectly portioned. The service was quick and friendly which in an airport doesn't always apply.... We got here about 15 minutes to opening on a Friday night and there was already a line. We were fortunate to still get a spot outside which worked out because it wasn't too hot and the outdoor space is much more spread out than inside. We ordered a dozen oysters to start. Love their various droppers with infused mignottes and hot sauces. Really made it fun to try out different combos. We also got the cold smoked mussels, the hamachi crudo, grilled oysters, lobster roll, rockfish, and the little gem salad. In order of least favorite to favorite, the little gem salad was good but just not that memorable or spetqcular the way the other dishes were. Next, the grilled oysters were flavorful with the garlic and lime but I wished there was a little more kimchi flavor and overall more sauce given the size of the oysters (they were huge!). The lobster roll was good and I appreciated the different take on a lobster roll but my favorite lobster rolls that really accentuate the lobster flavor and this masked it a little. The hamachi crudo was a surprise. It's a dish you see a lot and I was a little worried about how the pineapple might overtake the rest of the flavors but that didn't happen. The balance between sweet, savory, sour, and crunch from the peanuts was perfect and every bite was really enjoyable. Finally, my favorite was the cold smoked mussels. You never know how fish sauce and tom kha might overwhelm everything but again, their chef understands flavor balance really well. You could taste all the flavors, the smokiness, the slight bitter and sour umami flavors and slight sweetness to round it out. It was outstanding and highly recommend. They also have great cocktails that go well with their dishes. Really enjoyed the experience here and will definitely come back.

The low rating is mostly due to the service I received. The tattooed blonde female bartender on lunch shift was incredibly rude. I think it was the worst service I ever received anywhere... From the moment I arrived, before I even sat- she was barking orders at me about how to sit and where to put my stuff. She was terrified I might take up an extra seat at the bar and cost them money. Which I wasn't about to do because I'm considerate and actually a bartender myself. I ordered food, but not alcohol and that might have something to do with her neglect. My water didn't arrive for about 15 minutes and when it did it had stuff floating in it. So I let her know and asked for another. She didn't say a word, grabbed the glass and angrily threw it down the drain and stormed out of the room. Didn't show her face again and didn't give me another. This was my only beverage. I had to wait another 10 minutes before I could get the other bartender's attention and finally get a water. He wasn't any more attentive than she was. It really wasn't that busy from a bartender's perspective either. So there's no way to excuse this. Absolutely rude service. She weirdly and inappropriately interjected herself in my conversations with another patron when her opinion wasn't requested. She had an arrogant and demeaning tone, correcting this woman needlessly. She just seems like she has a really aggressive and combative personality- so wrong for this industry. She was also wearing an extremely short skirt which is inappropriate for the type of environment Henry's is trying to be. I'm surprised management allows it. I guess I just got caught in the middle of a bad shift (or life) she was having but I definitely won't return. She knows how to make people very uncomfortable with literally no provocation. Henry's is better off with gracious and humble staff who isn't trying to alienate guests. She's not an asset, her temper is a liability. read more

I had the pleasure of dining at Henry's Tavern in the PDX airport, and I can't say enough about the fantastic service and delicious food. Natana and Ryan were both exceptional, making the whole experience seamless and enjoyable. We tried three different entrées: the mac & cheese cheeseburger with garganzola fries, a southwest chicken salad, and a classic hamburger with a side wedge. Each dish was absolutely excellent! The burger was juicy and flavorful, the salad was fresh with just the right amount of spice, and the mac & cheese cheeseburger with those incredible fries was a standout. It's rare to find such quality in an airport setting, but this place really exceeded expectations. Thanks to Natana and Ryan for their top-notch service, we'll definitely be back! read more

I had a great experience at Henry's Tavern while waiting for my flight at PDX. The service was quick and friendly, which is always appreciated when you're on a time crunch. I ordered the chicken strips, and they were surprisingly delicious -- crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and served with tasty dipping sauces. You never quite expect airport food to impress, but this totally hit the spot. The atmosphere was relaxed but lively, and there were plenty of screens if you want to catch a game while you eat. Hateful hateful bartender... it was pretty sad- I pronounced the word 'elysian' different then her and her attitude was insane! She corrected me 3 times... she then began to threaten and insult me, I laughed and smiled because I was in shock, someone who lives off tips could act so childish. She has feather earrings and tattoos. I asked for the Manager she ignored me. Writing this review right here at the bar, so I'm not intoxicated. Really I hope she is just having an awful day because her actions were 100% uncalled for and borderline mentally ill. One thing wrong: someone needs to rethink the coleslaw!!! Everything else was amazing! Mac and cheese with chicken, very good!! Fish and chips, very good!! But the coleslaw sucked. Please fix it!! And my friend loved his burger and salad. And the drink menu is really amazing, too, with over 60 beer taps, plus a full bar. Perfect thing to fuel up or unwind. And while the prices are, like all airport fare, a couple dollars higher than what you'd expect at restaurants outside the facility, I still think the portion size and quality are pretty decent for what you pay. The big draw here, however, are the views. You of course have a fantastic perspective on the tarmac between the main terminals, seeing the planes coming and going through the giant windows. But you also get some great balcony seats overlooking the entry hall, with its cool wood architecture and tons of trees. I've enjoyed just spending a little time over a glass here, doing some serious people watching. Service was very friendly. But it can get a little backed up, even with only moderate crowds. And beyond that, this is a place to cater to people passing through the airport. So anyone who is not catching a flight or just landed is going to have to pay airport parking fees, or take the train, to come here. All told, a nice quick lunch at a gorgeous spot. Travelers through these terminals would do well to swing by, if they get a chance.
