I was planning on going to a usual breakfast spot this morning but quickly made a right turn into the parking lot of Henry's when I saw a sign they serve breakfast. This is nestled in a cute plaza near downtown Wallingford. I thought there would be a wait but there were only a few people inside! The waitress was lovely and attended to our every need. My guest and I ordered a Belgian waffle & eggs Benedict. Some places say they offer Belgian waffles and it's just a plain waffle. Henry's has a DELICIOUS Belgian waffle. I highly recommend ordering this. I plan on coming back here every weekend I want to go for breakfast. I plan on trying pancakes and an omelette next time. I give it 4 stars because the bathrooms had restaurant supplies in there which was a little odd. Haha read more

Food is good, but the people are what make Henry's, starting with Henry himself. Knowing that it was a full lunch service when my family went, he senta quick complimentary item out to our daughter, who he saw, and likely overheard saying that she was hungry, as we sat at the bar area. I've been eyeing this place for months. Decided to finally go there for brunch and I am so mad I didn't come to this place sooner! The chef (I'm assuming an owner) extremely friendly- greeted us as soon as we got into the restaurant. Everything on the menu looked delish. if I could give this place zero stars I would. the food was repulsive and burnt. the waitress which seems to be only one was horrendous. the service was terrible and the lady was miserable. don't even get me started on the ambiance. TERRIBLE. it was dirty and sticky and the chairs were all dirty. let's just say that if the health department paid them a visit they wouldn't be open anymore. there were flies everywhere and had to cover your food before a fly landed on it. We absolutely loved Henry's! We were greeted by the owner, Henry, who made us feel right at home, very cozy little restaurant. Food was delicious! We had the eggs Benedict and blueberry and raspberry pancakes and would recommend! Our only regret is that we weren't hungry enough to try more of the tasty looking options on the menu! Henry's has the best omelets and breakfast fries I've ever had. And I eat lots of omelets as they're a favorite breakfast/dinner of mine. The service is very friendly. Unfortunately I could not sit down in the restaurant to eat because of Covid19 restrictions but it appears to be a nice place to sit, eat and catch up with friends. Nevertheless, I truly enjoyed the omelets, fries and chatting with the folks there. If you want delicious comfort food, you'll love this place. read more

We have been spending a lot of time at Henry's since our kitchen was getting remodeled. Everything we've had is just homemade deliciousness. I love the cod with the lemon butter sauce, the chicken pot pie served in a huge bowl with crisp, buttery pie crust on top, and I love the peanut butter pie. There is something so different about it- the texture is similar to a fudge. It is so dense and decadent you need the vanilla ice cream to go with it for sure! There's always specials posted so you have something new to try. And the pie case is always full so don't forget about dessert! (Seriously get the PB pie) It's a small place so seating can be tight depending on when you go. Plenty of parking in the back of the building which is a plus for a small place. There's a lot of similar small restaurants in Wallingford but what you'll get at Henry's that you won't get elsewhere is outstanding service- he is always out greeting customers and if you've been there just once there's a good chance he'll remember what you had! An incredibly kind and friendly man in addition to his great culinary skills. He's there day and night so pay him a visit- you won't be disappointed! read more

I saw Henry's add in the Record Journal today and just had to come in for his Turkey meal. I give 5 stars because my meal was exceptional. Turkey moist and cooked to perfection, Iam a stuffing person and his was cooked to perfection along with my real homemade mashed potatoes and my gravy was just delicious. A very homey atmosphere and the owner made us feel like family. A must place to visit and prices are to low for this superb restaurant. Will be back !!!!! read more

We were looking for a place to have lunch after working out. We found this place on Yelp. It was either here or our old standby, Knuckleheads. We decided to try this place as we prefer locally owned establishments. Out server was young and new and made some novice mistakes but was coached by the seasoned servers. She was pleasant and welcoming as was the restaurant. I had a turkey club, my old standby. It was good. My friend had chicken pot pie. It was good. He also had the NE clam chowder which was also good. The word here is good. There was nothing bad about this place,it is just average. We had dessert. Lemon meringue pie and strawberry rhubarb pie. Both pies were good. So I gave this 4 stars because I think they can make some improvements in the menu. Perhaps improve the presentation of the food and expand the menu to make it more exciting. It is diner food, maybe a bit higher in quality but diner food none the less. Would I come back, yes for the pie. read more

We had lunch at Henry's today for the first time. Very inviting friendly atmosphere. 2 of us had the fish and chips and one had the chicken pot pie. The fish and chips were excellent. My family and I decided to give it try since we pass the quaint restaurant all the time. We were greeted right away and sat. For a Saturday morning , the place was rather empty which was very surprising . The decor was very nice. I was confused at first because one waitress started us and then a girl with pink hair came over and took over the service . She was pleasant and took our order. When we got our food, it looked like the grill wasn't cleaned because the pancakes were FULL of left over black grill residue , my eggs were undercooked and I barely had any home fries on the plate . Can you spare some ?Those too seemed like they were scraps left over from a dirty grill since they were all charcoaled. We tried but there are many other breakfast places around that are just better. Sometimes (more like all the time) you just want to find a place where there's a heart felt "good morning" a hot cup of coffee and a breakfast that can stick to your ribs to get you through the day. Well the search ended for me after hearing so much about and finally trying Henry's. The Belgian waffle I ate today was a Belgian waffle not just pancake batter poured into a waffle iron. Absolutely THE best corned beef Reuben in town! The corned beef and dressing both taste homemade, though I didn't ask. Tried some home fries off my husband's plate and they were delicious. Just what we were looking for. We had chicken pot pie, a pastrami sandwich and a burger. The place is cozy and inviting.

I tried Henry's a few months ago, and their eggs benedict was excellent. The waitress was incredibly nice, and it was overall a lovely experience at a really great price. Upon my second visit a few months later, it seemed the place had gone down the pipes. The home fries were under-seasoned, my boyfriend's eggs were undercooked and pretty much thrown on top of the corned beef hash, creating quite the mess of a plate, and we could hear Henry in the back screaming and yelling. Awkward to say the least. We tried again today, hoping that our second visit was just a fluke, and Henry was just having an off day due to the volume of customers at brunch that day. NOPE. Eggs were very runny--the food came out MUCH too quickly to be cooked properly. Home fries were burnt and, again, underseasoned, and were barely a reasonable portion for my money--obviously cooked on high heat just to get them out of the kitchen. My boyfriend's over-easy eggs were barely cooked, and one yolk had broken. Instead of replacing that egg, like any normal chef would do, they decided to serve him a broken yoke. Unacceptable. There were only FOUR different tables being served at the time, so there is really no excuse. On top of it all, two coffees ended up being around $6. Two very small cups of coffee. $3 each? Seriously? I could get more coffee (better quality as well) at Starbucks. What a rip-off. Very sad to say we will not be visiting again. I had high hopes for this place. Henry needs to get out of the kitchen and hire someone; he obviously cannot handle managing and cooking. read more

If there was 6 stars I would have given Henry's six stars. We had the barley soup today,it was fabulous,followed by buffalo salad and of course his apple pie. Food is excellent,service was the best and you even get Henry out on the floor waiting on you,how good is hat. The place is small but neat and plenty of tables just to be cozy. Atmosphere is nice, clean and the staff is welcoming and friendly. However, the menu is very limited. If you are looking for something fresh and healthy, this is not the place. Their side of fruit is not always fresh. One time I ordered it and the fruit was mushy and appeared a few too many days old. It's never busy which is nice because you get service right away but I think it's not busy for a reason. And while I said the staff was nice, they look bored, standing around waiting for you to order or be done with your meal. Not the greatest experience. read more

The menu was limited but that didn't deter us - we figured maybe they do just a few things and knock it out of the park. We were wrong. We both ordered breakfast dishes. What came to the table was disappointment on a plate smothered in cheese, grease and paprika. We tried to give it a chance because the servers were nice but the food was just terrible. Small sign in front but parking and entrance in back. The waitress was so sweet and the owner, who is also the cook was so nice. I wanted clam chowder and a lobster roll. I did not see lobster roll on board so I asked. Henry said he was out but would make me a clam roll, since I did not want the platter. My husband did not want clams so he made him shrimp with butter and garlic and put it on a roll. Everything was delicious. The clams were meaty and sweet and lightly fried. The clam chowder was one of the best I have had and was filled with clams. If I lived there I would eat here all the time. If we go back, I will definitely eat here again. read more

I've been to this restaurant twice now. The place itself is cute and the staff seems friendly. However, I don't have enough money to spend the few dollars allotted on bad food experience. The side salads are fresh but small with few toppings. The fries seemed fishy like they used old oil or the same oil as fried fish. The hamburger was greesy. The rueben was greesy. The chicken pot pie tasted like celery broth, canned peas, almost no chicken, and a saltine cracker crust. Both bills (for two people) were over $30. This was my third time at Henry's. I usually wait three times before weighing a review just in case you catch the chef or server having a bad day. Today there were 5 of us and all were happy (all my other trips here have been good too) I had a red pepper and goat cheese omelette that was amazing. My wife had poached eggs and hash that was great. The server was also great VERY attentive and every time my coffee was low she was there topping it off. I believe it was the owner that rang us out.
