My fiancé and I had dinner here last night and had a wonderful experience. Our server, Isabel, was attentive, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable of the menu. She was able to provide us with recommendations since it was our first time dining here. Our meal started with cocktails (I tried the Blue Dream and really enjoyed it and my fiancé had the Negroni special which he enjoyed as well). We had the whipped ricotta as a starter, shared the red wine dry aged sirloin (because we had to at least try a piece of steak), and entrees including the bolognese and the pork chop. Each dish was delicious, with vibrant flavors and cook time/temperature was perfect on everything. My husband and I treated ourselves to a birthday happy hour meal at Herd Provisions. They have quite the selection of food and drink, and considering the quality and sourcing of the food, the prices were stellar. The wings were fifty cents a piece and from local pasture chickens. The dry rubbed wings were really well seasoned, lacking in moisture, but they were served with house ranch so that helped. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and had a good kick. The sliders were just what you would want, nothing too special but super tasty nonetheless. Service was so professional, but also fun and attentive. They don't take themselves too seriously at Herd Provisions which is always refreshing when visiting a higher priced establishment. We were particularly impressed by the wine list, most of which were natural or organic, chosen by their 'resident wine nerd.' If they still have the Gotham Project Grecian on tap, please consider ordering, it was just incredible! Quaint place but also open and nice. We went for a coworker-style birthday dinner after seeing the mozz on Instagram. It's as good as it looks. Meat! I've been here twice now and I can say the menu is delicious up and down. While there is a veggie section of the menu (good as well) the apps are off limits if anyone in your party has a meat aversion as everything is prepared with meat or in a fryer with meat. They have $1 off specialty cocktails/draft beer of the week, $3.50 bud light, $4 well drinks, $6 house wine, and food specials as well. I tried out the Tequila Mockingbird, which had tequila, agave, lime, and fresno chile. It was tasty, but for the price of $11, I expected a bit more. Christian went for the bourbon ginger for $4 on happy hour and he enjoyed it! For food, we went for the seasonal veg ($4) and 2 burgers ($7 each). The seasonal veg was shisito peppers with a sweet and spicy sauce, amazing! I tried out the veggie burger cause I wasn't that hungry and it was made of mushrooms, quinoa, and black beans. It had a ton of flavor with pickles and special sauce added, I didn't miss the meat one bit! Christian had the regular burger, which was juicy and also had the delicious special sauce. We had a great night on the patio, which is also dog friendly! We will definitely be back because it is right across the street from the dog park. This was a huge disappointment. There are so many wonderful places to eat in Charleston and I was hoping to add this to the list. We started by getting the flatbread special on the day. The crust was not crispy and tasted like cardboard. When the waitress came by to ask how it was, we were honest and told her we were disappointed by how it was prepared. Her response was "really?" and walked away. She completely ignored it for the rest of the night. Our party of 4 all ordered burgers because a $60 steak seemed a little outrageous, especially after our appetizer. While the burger was good, the fries were way too heavily seasoned with Old Bay and had too much salt. We also sat close to the kitchen, which if you're going to have an open kitchen you probably shouldn't have the chefs and wait staff arguing with each other - especially in front of customers. We booked a dinner on July 4th without too many expectations outside of a nice meal. We ended up getting to sit at the chefs table which turned into a whole culinary experience filled with appetizers compliments of the chef. We tried the shishitos, beef tar tare, pork roulletes, and cornbread, all of which was unbelievably good. The local fish, whole pulled pork pig, and chicken dishes were phenomenal. The service, a team that seemed more like a family serving fresh ingredients from local farms with a unique flair bursting with flavor. I'm only offering 3 stars right now and hope this will change! They have a beautiful restaurant, but the service is terrible. We have been 3 times and pretty much the same but the last visit we have some scars and will take a break here. We had questions on the menu but our server couldn't answer them. "I don't know" shouldn't be in their vocabulary! So we ordered the Kale salad which was great a few weeks back, but this time even tho we asked for no anchovies they must have forgotten then remembered and pulled them off. All I could taste was fish. Then we ordered a special 20oz ribeye bone in and they served it all cut!! Our server neglected to tell us this was the presentation. Needless to say we never would have ordered that had we known. We each tried a piece and sorry it was tasteless. Then we did something we never do! Sent it back and cashed out. They took the stake off but left the potatoes which we didn't touch and the bill was $78 for two glasses of wine and two beers. We left and headed over to Heavy's for a burger! read more

This was our first time here. It's a true farm to table establishment. The beef and pork come from the owners farm in Virginia. Quality protein. All I can say is outstanding. From the appetizers to the rolls to the service-all fantastic! We had poutine with hand cut fries as an appetizer. Absolutely delicious. We also had an order of light and fluffy salted buttermilk rolls with sweetened butter. Our entrees were all super delicious-burger, chickens and pork. All portions were ample and satisfying in size.
