Although the char siu was super fatty, it had a lot of flavor. The egg tart was delicious. I believe they get them ordered from Maxim's bakery. I could eat more than one back to back. I loved the sauce that came with the salt baked chicken. The marinated eggplant had so much garlic, which I also loved. The chicken wings were so good. Food was GREAT - their pork belly on the bbq plate is amazing and dandan noodles are done just right, especially when you let the noodles cook for longer in the hot broth. Love that the bbq plate includes some gai lan. It's different to Chinatown BBQ which is my other go-to. Also ordered Pu'er tea and black sesame balls. Yum. Service was terrific. We were downtown and looking for a quick bit. Searched some reviews and this was only a couple blocks from where we were. The menu looked solid and we were hungry! We started with the prawn toast, which was perfectly crispy and loaded with savory goodness. The balance of texture and taste made it a memorable start to the meal and my absolute favorite! The dan dan noodles followed, bringing a satisfying kick of heat and a rich, nutty sauce that complemented the chewy noodles beautifully. I didn't need the extra bbq pork I added... or did I? Friday night at Heritage Asian Eatery on Pender Street doesn't disappoint with Prawn Toast, Dan Dan Noodles, Roast Duck BBQ Plate and Duck Bao! This is our first time at Heritage Asian Eatery. This Chinese restaurant is an upscale eatery that delivers bold and delicious comfort food with a modern twist. We walked in on a Friday night and we were initially seated at the bar as all the tables were full. After we ordered, a staff approached was that a table freed up so we moved to a table seat with ease. Each dish was just delightful and brought great memories and feels dining with my parents (who are both no longer with us) and siblings just sharing comfort Chinese food. Service was great! We got in right before the rush even without a reservation we were seated very quickly and were given refreshments and menus. The space is small, so the downside is that when the lunch rush entered we kind of had people towering over us a bit near the door just from where we were sitting. There was construction occurring so it was also quite loud. Staff were polite and timely. I am a huge chicken fiend. I will ALWAYS order wings no matter where I go if it's on the menu, haha. Their chicken wings were okay. Great crisp, but it was missing on the flavor. I got the salty fried flavor but nothing was super spectacular about them. Came here because my boyfriend saw a post on instagram raving about their unique dimsum. I didn't end up getting the dimsum because the truffle shiumai that we wanted was sold out when we came. We opted for the dandan noodle and the honey roasted pork instead. The dandan noodle was not what I was expecting at all as I expected more of a dryer noodle rather than a soup. The taste was also completely different than what I would expect from a dandan noodle. This one had a peanut base while I am used to sesame and sichuan peppers, typical of dandan, on my noodles. While it took me by surprise, the taste was quite good, just not sure if I would consider this dandan. The honey roasted pork on the other hand was very juicy and flavorful. It was soft and I love the sweetness in the pork. I'd come back here just for the pork and maybe to try out the chili garlic noodle! The restaurant is a bit on the smaller side but I like that it gave more of an intimate feel. From what I remember, it is pretty quiet inside too, but I did go on a week night. read more

Tasty and hot. 4/5 Pork Belly Bowl: Rice topped with shredded veggies and what appears to be taro, marinated pork belly slices, and egg. Comfortingly delicious. We were so delighted walking out of the restaurant. Who knew! We were on our Sunday morning walk to check out a bakery nearby. Hunger stroke in the late morning and I had a craving for dim sum. I was thinking about Victoria but my husband reminded me of Heritage which we had read about recently. We ordered 3 items to share: 1. A rice dish with BBQ duck, BBQ park and roast chicken 2. Prawn toasts 3. Wonton in chili oil We walked in around 1130 and there was only one table seated inside. Service was extremely attentive. The server told us what the popular dishes were given it was our first visit. I love prawn toasts. The bread was crispy but soft on the inside. The paste had a nice slightly chewy texture. The heat level of the chili oil bathing the wontons was just right. All 3 meats on the rich plate were very nice. The duck pieces were juicy and tender and had a good layer of fat under the skin. The BBQ pork also had good proportions of fat and meat from belly part of the pig. The roast chicken pieces were flavourful and very tender as well. I'm glad to see that the restaurant was full by the tine we left around 1230. read more

Unfortunately, when my girl and I went on August 27th there was pretty loud construction outside so the place was noisy so we tried to exit faster than we would like. The staff were very nice and accommodating considering the circumstances. I ordered the duck rice bowl and this was some of the best duck I've ever had. Few things to note for this review 1. Used uber eats 2. Ordered 1.5 hours before closing on a Thursday. 3. Picked food up around 15 minutes past time it was ready. With all that being said, I would not tell anyone to eat here and I certainly would not come again. The quality of the food was very subpar. The meats were dried up from either being overcooked or being cooked long before being ordered, rice was dry and the siu mai left very much to be desired. I normally don't eat at restaurants that get rated less than 4 on Yelp but there was a huge difference with google reviews so I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and try it. This restaurant was right across the street from our hotel and it had good reviews on Google so my family decided to try it one day when it was raining. I don't know why their Yelp review is not very good because the food and service are both fantastic. We ate inside with our young child and it was great for that since we were looking for a more casual family friendly place in downtown. We got BBQ duck and pork plate, Dan Dan noodles (more broth than typical but it was still tasty), prawn toast, and sesame balls. Everything was super delicious, and that's coming from a Chinese person who eats a lot of authentic Asian food! Something that got me really annoyed was I kept seeing photos of dishes on their Yelp & Google pages but they don't actually exist on their menu. I'm not sure if they are revamping their menu or if it's crossing over with their other location or what but it's definitely misleading and disappointing. (I posted a pic of their menu as of 8/10/22) Overall, the food was decent. I enjoyed the duck and pork bowl. I did not like the Steamed Salted egg buns - I didn't taste any flavor in the filling and it was mostly bun. The cauliflower was OK - could've been more crispy. XLB was lacking in flavor and bland. We were walking in Vancouver downtown, and wanted to visit the German village in Burrad Street, but we had not gotten the tickets and so we strolled around the bay until we got exhausted and were looking to eat some hot tasty food. Heritage Asian eatery came up in our Yelp search and we decided to trudge along and enter this small but modern place. The receiving staff was very polite and seated as immediately. He recommended and we ordered the pork belly and chicken barbeque because this is an Asian Chinese barbeque joint along with rice and bok choy. Once we had that which was fantastic, we had garlic, chilli, noodles, dan-dan noodles, chicken wings, which were extremely tasty, best we had in a long time. All in all of food was fantastic, served hot, and we experienced the best of of modern Asian food. A must visit for anybody in downtown Vancouver. read more

Team was in on our weekly Wednesday office day and everyone was undecided on where to go for lunch. I suggested going to Heritage Asian and off we went. The menu seems to have changed since the last time I came. They have a 1, 2 or 3 BBQ meat bowl and I asked if it was possible to order the 2 item bowl but get one BBQ meat and the other to be eggplant. The server told me I could order the 1 item bowl for $12 and order an eggplant as a side for $3 which would basically be almost the same price as the 2 BBQ meat bowl ($15.75). What I ended up getting was a large portion of eggplant, a steal at $3. The dish was so large that I ended up sharing it with the rest of the table. The soy chicken bowl was also of good portion for $12. Great friendly service that was prompt. I also really appreciate the free homemade chili oil they provide. Solid place for a meal! read more

We had Chinese broccoli with garlic chips, two types of dumplings, sable fish, fried tofu and rice. We added their chili oil and their housemates scallions ginger sauce. Based on the reviews here, we explicitly asked if the dan dan noodles were wet or dry, and were assured that they were dry. Nevertheless they were in a peanut broth and served with a spoon and soy egg and I can't see any way they could be described as dry. We ordered drinks to start - my friends had pinot noir and I ordered the freixenet cava which came with a cool bottle. We shared everything family style. We had the XLB to start which was fresh and tasty. The soy sauce was a bit strange to me but otherwise the chili oil gave it a slight kick. The marinated eggplant was so crispy and delicious with a slightly sweetened glaze. We also ordered radish cakes which were tasty. Saw this place online and came looking for a quick dinner. A nice small fast casual spot with different types of bowls and other good stuff. We got the pork belly bowl and the matcha mantou to share. The pork belly bowl was huge and good to share for a small dinner. There was a lot of rice and braised pork belly along with some crispy taro, pickled veggies, and a soft boiled egg. Only not so great thing was the egg was a little overdone but it was around an hour left before closing. The matcha mantou are deep fried donuts with a matcha dipping sauce. But I'm full already, and I'm in a rush to go back to the office, so I didn't take up his offer. So I just asked for the bill, and honestly, I'm quite surprised the server didn't offer any discount to compensate for that. I came here to pick up the food and was surprised that the restaurant was super busy during lunch time. The noodle itself was not bad. It was a bit too spicy for me. There was a lot of meat inside the noodle. As a tip, its better off to eat in than to have it to go. Their take out boxes are smaller. Overall, I liked the dan dan noodle. It was very flavorful. The menu has changed since I originally started visiting this place, way back when I was working downtown. I can only comment on the chicken bowl really since that's one of the items that has stayed on the menu. I like the chicken bowl a lot. The pieces are deep fried and a little tricky to eat but I like the crispy texture. The ginger scallion sauce tastes pretty nostalgic and like the sauce you get with chicken at Chinese BBQ places. For me it was always a solid option for lunch while working even if it has gone up in price. Prior to the pandemic it was great value, now it's just so-so. The portion is big enough that you'll be full without ordering anything else, though. I'd probably skip the sides, I don't think they're worth it and they're just ok. Ambiance inside is pretty nice, it's clean. I prefer to eat in but if you get the rice bowl to go it's still pretty good. read more
