    Penang curry

Walking around Granville and Robson and this place caught my eye, modern brightly lit storefront when compared to the bleakish surrounding environment, for those who are familiar with Granville Street you know what I'm talking about. In the mood for something Asian and this place stood out like a guiding light in a heavily fogged wasteland. Notice their dish prices were quite inexpensive when I realise there were extra charges for protein if desired (chicken, shrimp, beef). Vegetarians would love this place. Ordered the Laksa with shrimp ($3 extra) and the Penang curry with chicken ($2 extra). Both dishes were not bad, both dishes arrived piping hot. The Laksa was slightly spicy with a rich coconut based broth, plenty of vegetables with shrimp (previously frozen) Penang curry was very good, again plenty of vegetables with sliced white chicken meat. I was not expecting much but this fast-food style Asian restaurant was unique when compared to the surrounding pizza, burger, Mexican, middle Eastern food places on Granville. Kudos to the owners for their bravery in establishing a rice and noodle option for the denizens of Granville street.

Tried 6 mini dishes at rice & noodle today and everything was so delicious! My favourite was the curry chicken with rice dish the location is great especially after a concert at the Vogue and it's open late too! The set up inside is super efficient and bright! The house made satay sauce was very tasty. The spring rolls nice and crisp! Will dedinirely be back!!

This place really has not only a long, never-ending line of customers waiting for a table, but also a steady stream of takeout orders. It's an old establishment that's been around for many years; even though it's in a remote location with limited parking, its popularity remains undiminished--which speaks volumes about its quality.

The unfortunate downside for getting a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Butter Beef - beefy, garlicky, herby, tangy, sweet, it's got a little bit of everything. Very tender Trieu Chau Fried Rice - this dish is fantastic. One of the better fried rice dishes I have had. It has the wok hay and I would have been perfectly happy just to eat this as a meal Phnom Penh Chicken Wings - the first bite I had, I was not impressed. I dipped it in the lemon juice with pepper and it had some crisp, but was really lacking in flavor. Then we found a small pile of fried garlic near the bottom of the plate. That's where all the salt and flavor was. We put that onto the wings and they were quite good. Wish that was just set to the side at the beginning. Green Papaya Salad - this thing is packed with flavor. I liked it quite a bit, but I thought the beef jerky was an oddball ingredient Filet Beef Luc Lac - thinly sliced beef that is tender and covered in a silky sauce. It was quite salty so it went well with our rice. No major complaints about any of the food and I thought they had some pretty unique takes on dishes. My family scores: Brendan - 4.0 Charlotte - 4.0 Shanying - 4.0 Winston - 4.5

The restaurant is located on a busy street and is unassuming/easy to miss so I'm glad my boyfriend pointed it out for us to try with some friends. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share. They all arrived relatively quickly and my favourites were the pad thai and the khao soi. The pad thai was fragrant and on the sweeter side which I like. I also liked the fresh raw bean sprouts on the side. The khao soi was curry noodles with tender beef and crispy egg noodles. The curry was very flavourful with a hint of heat and sweetness. This was also my first time trying curry noodles at a Thai restaurant. The green curry was filled with bamboo shoots, peppers, and a good amount of chicken. The flavour from the bamboo shoots really comes through as well. For the crab fried rice, it came with a spicy sauce and pickled vegetables. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough to go around so I didn't get a chance to get a good taste of it with the rice. However, I scooped some curry sauce from the khao soi onto the crab friend rice and it was delicious! Finally, we tried the mango sticky rice and my goodness, it was so pretty! The rice was warm and sweet which paired beautifully with the slightly tart mango. I'll definitely have to come back to have more of the khao soi noodles!

They also have seasonal special. We ordered different dishes & all the dishes were good. We are coming back for sure!
