Being from south central Texas, I'm a harsher judge of breakfast tacos. These were quite possibly the best I've had. Just need a little more heat in the salsa. This is my fun place to go when traveling from Durango up to Purgatory! Breakfast & lunch are both delicious. The best burger by far in the area or anywhere, really! The breakfast burrito is my son's all time favorite. The portions are huge and the food has always arrived to the table piping hot. The servers always seem happy to see customers and work quickly to get new arrivals seated, which is surprising because they are always busy. The place is cozy and feels like it is cared about by local owners. The cinnamon rolls and expresso drinks are great to grab and go if I'm in a hurry. I've eaten here many times and always enjoyed my meals. They have a great menu with solid recipes. But the best aspect of this are the cooks. Good technique matters a lot with all food and they are great. Their burgers are top shelf because the patties have great sear and the cheese is melted into all the grooves, like it also should be! If you ask for crispy hash browns in other places, they typically just leave them on longer and you get a mishmash of undercooked, crispy, and burnt hash browns. Mine today were crisped to golden brown, with no underdone parts nor any burnt bits. Just sublime crunchy yummy spud. Their eggs are cooked properly to order. They just execute what the menu suggests it will be to a great standard. These things make the difference that we've all experienced between a menu that's a list of good ideas and a good meal. read more

Our unpleasant experience was based upon some of the worst coffee that I've had (it tasted like burnt popcorn) and the callous and rude behavior of what turned out to be the owner. Hermosa Creek grill was posted as having "breakfast and brunch" on their Yelp listing and open until 2:30pm on a Sunday. I (incorrectly) thought that brunch would be served until then. When we arrived, we found out that they stopped serving breakfast at noon. As we were sitting down, my wife got up to find our waitress and then ask her if they could make an exception for *any* breakfast items on their menu. While standing next to the kitchen, a different waitress cheerfully offered, "absolutely.... we could probably do bacon and eggs." At this point a man approached her and asked, rather brusquely, "is there a problem?" to which my wife retold the story that we got in really late the night before, that we had a small child with us who is a picky eater (she is a Leukemia survivor, having recently finished chemo and still lacks a robust appetite) and that we were hoping that they might be able to still offer an item or two off of the breakfast menu. The three waitresses tensed up as the man barked, "NO. It's lunchtime. We're serving lunch." repeating that two more times. At this point, my wife walked away, she quietly explained to me what had just happened, so we decided to leave. By the way, Kassidy's in town is very solid. read more

My family and i have come here several times over the past couple years. Its always been good. Not great but good. The breakfast is bland but my parents love the pancakes and green chile grits. The french fries are good as well. Unfortunately i found a dark coarse hair in my burger the other day and decided i will not be eating here anymore. Its disappointing cause its convinient to go to since we camp at durango riverside but i cannot get past the disgust of finding that in the middle of my burger, like it was mixed in when the meat was raw. My dog liked the left over burger tho. I give it 3 stars because the service is always good, the people are very kind and its a cute little place i just hope that they are more vigilant in the future about contamination and such. read more

We found this place on Yelp and we were excited to stop in for a late breakfast...we showed up just before 12 and we were devastated to find out that they stopped serving breakfast 5 minutes before we sat down. The server was friendly and apologetic but man we were looking forward to hashbrowns. We ordered lunch and we were all happy with our plates! Some stand out items were the sweet potato fries and the onion rings. Our friends really enjoyed their burgers. I ordered the Cobb salad and it was fantastic and a very large portion. Very good bargain. For diner fare, it won't get much better relative to the price, this is definitely worth a stop on your way from Durango to Silverton (and better than most places in Durango). Green Chile sauce is not as good as I expected; I hope at some point they can invest in a different sauce and still keep the price down. However, beware the service. I've now been here a handful of times in a few weeks, and the service here has been painfully slow when dining in. read more

2/25/2020 NEW breakfast menu this morning and it's awesome! I had huevos rancheros w/sausage added and the cheese grits. My wife had items from the pick three menu, eggs, ham and cheese grits. I must say you guys have done it once again. The huevos were served on a crispy tortilla, black beans, two eggs cooked medium with green chili sauce and cheese on top.....omg what a generously portioned flavor explosion!!! It was not too spicy either. The cheese grits were delicious with some diced green chili's to add to the flavor. My wife's plate was a simpler standard breakfast but there was ample ham to take home and her eggs cooked perfectly. Her comment on the cheese grits I can't repeat but I took it that she really really liked them. Great job guys, you have raised the bar for a Durango breakfast. read more

The first time we stopped in we thought it a bit odd having a restaurant attached to a storage unit, but the place was packed and people seemed to be enjoying their meals so we gave it a try. What a great decision that was! They have such a nice patio space --part of which is covered and heated in the winter and the place has some serious small-town character. We love that we can bring our dogs to sit with us on the outside patio--they bring us water bowls which always wins some points. Service has always been good and with friendly servers. Now onto the food. I've stopped by for their to-go bagel sausage breakfast sandwich and I seriously crave it now. The bagel was buttery and delicious and the sausage was clearly quality meat. My two sandwiches were freshly cooked and ready to go in about 5 minutes. Their breakfast burrito is best if you get it smothered in green chili sauce and is big enough to share. I definitely need to get up in time on a day off and try something new here for breakfast. We usually come by for lunch. They make a killer burger. Probably the top burger I have eaten anywhere and definitely the best around Durango. Meat is from a local ranch, I believe. I have a hard time trying something new off the lunch menu because I am obsessed with the burger which is the only problem I can find ha. Their fries are super yummy as well. My fiance almost always gets the south-west Philly cheese steak and it is a crazy good combo. I also think the prices are more than fair for the quality of food here. read more

just drank sour disgusting coffee creamer. If they dont know what is expired on the tables how do they know whats expired in the kitchen. I went outside to start hacking and my family followed me. When we went outside our waitress,Essence, took the cream container away so I couldn't know how expired it was. My grandpa wiped it and little curds were smeared on the table. Out food was NOT served hot nor warm and it a shame because the food woukd have been favorable if it was a warm temperature. Also we ordered a "fresh" cinnamon roll. My husband and I have traveled from Missouri southwest to the Grand Canyon and back northeast through Colorado to get home. HCG was by far the best meal we have had. Real home cooked style food with a southwest flavor. I got the southwest scramble. It was amazing. Hash browns, eggs, cheese, and an amazing green chile sauce all with chunks of bacon throughout and a tortilla which I ripped up and ate with bites. Fantastic! My husband had the country fried steak and eggs. We both agreed that it was the best country fried steak we had ever had. APRIL was our waitress and she was so nice, helpful, and even shared some menu secrets with us. We will make it back one more time before we leave. Apparently, the pancakes are really good too. The restaurant is very quaint with an eclectic atmosphere. It's very clean and offers outdoor seating at the bottom of a mountain. They also have indoor/outdoor seating which allows you to be inside but still see the views. If I lived in this town I would likely eat here daily!!! read more

Hands down one of the best breakfast spots Ive eaten at. The biscuits and gravy were superb! The coffee was super fresh and smooth too. My wife had the greek omelette and i stole a couple of bites for Myself - both of us loved that dish as well. Pricing was reasonable ( for a family of 5 we got out of there for under $60 with tip. ) but if you compare to the quality of the food it was a steal! The staff was ALL super friendly and attentive. Our server was on top of everything and took great care of us. The patio seating had a great view and the Colorado air / temps made it all the more enjoyable.
