It's still a great place to get car maintenance. The only problem I have is the upselling - the customer reps on my last visit and the visit prior to that tried to sway me into getting "routine" work that was not needed. Those recommendations were made before the car was even looked at. Lo and behold, no recommendations were made to do any of that work once the inspection report was printed out at the end of my appointment. A polite customer service rep to be sure, but was a bit on the pushy side. I already was fine paying for 300 dollars worth of work. Absolutely awful SERVICE experience! Will never return, and will definitely share my encounter with all neighbors in our Park Ridge community. Brought my 4Runner in for an oil change- they proceeded to pitch their "necessary services". I agreed to a tire rotation and I left once they returned the vehicle to me. Living 10 minutes from the store, there was no reason to exceed 40mph. Well! Took it on the highway and was scared to death once I hit 50mph. My steering wheel felt like it was going to fly off in my lap. I pulled over immediately and called my husband. He suggested I call the Service center back. I called them to explain my vehicle is now unsafe to drive after their tire rotation... even worse, we have a 6-hour drive tomorrow for a funeral service. They advised we bring it back in. Even though I'm scared to drive it. Eventually my husband had to meet me on the side of the highway to bring them the truck again! Not only did they not fix the problem, they unwound the tire rotation and kept our money. Zero accountability for anything and said because they performed the service we would not be refunded. Except they allowed me to drive an unsafe vehicle after it never had any issues prior to the arrival. It was our first visit there!!! Terrible. Both my husband and myself drove carefree before this service visit. Unbelievable to not even offer to compensate our time, our safety, or simply fix whatever we paid for originally- a tire rotation that THEY recommended, that THEY do daily. I am filing this review because of repeated negative experiences with this business. The customer service has been consistently poor, and the situation was made worse by the manager's unprofessional attitude. During a service visit, I noticed that $5 was missing from my vehicle. At first, I thought it might have been a mistake or that I had misplaced it. However, during a later visit, I intentionally left money in the vehicle to test whether it would happen again. After the service was completed, the money was missing once more. In addition to the missing money, the staff repeatedly unplugged my dash camera during service appointments. This occurred multiple times, making it impossible to review what happened while my vehicle was in their possession. I find this highly concerning and unacceptable. When I attempted to address my concerns, I received poor customer service and no satisfactory resolution. The manager was especially unhelpful and dismissive, which only added to my frustration. I believe customers should be able to trust a business with their vehicles and personal property. Based on my experiences, I no longer have confidence in this company. This review for Bredemann Toyota at Dempster Rd in IL did not come lightly. It was present here today after repeated abuse by them. The first abuse happened years ago. At that time, I took my 2010 toyota camry in for a routine engine oil change. Their service consultant, "Andy", a frog-shaped male, worked with me. He told me during the oil change that the air filter in the channel towards the seats was dirty, and suggested replacing the filter and cleaning the whole oil pipe system in the engine due to dust precipitation. My car had about 30K miles on it at that time, and the filter was for the seating area. I knew he was scamming me, so I refused the pipe clean up. Although no damage was done to me at that time, but his evil mind bothered me for a while. The second abuse happened around 2022. The exhaust pipe of the same car was disconnected from its catalyzer due to the catalyzer's decay at that time. It was clear that the catalyzer needed to be replaced; the exhaust pipe and the pipe between the catalyzer and the engine were in good shape. A different consultant from Bredemann worked with me that time. He told me that the catalyzer and pipe connect the catalyzer to the engine, and one part of the engine itself was a whole piece; they all needed to be replaced together at an estimated cost of over $2000. He could not just replace the catalyzer itself. At that moment, I was not sure if he was fooling me, so I accepted the service. After the service, I saw a new catalyzer and a new fragment of a tube connected the catalyzer to the engine, but the engine part seemed not to have been touched. That engine part was shiny before the service, but I did not mark it before the service, so I did not argue and paid for everything. It was a rip-off if those three pieces were not together. The third abuse happened weeks ago and was the main reason why this review was made. The same car was taken in due to a tire pressure light and a radiator leakage. The "frog" man became a manager now, and the new guy taking his seat at the service desk worked with me. That guy told me he needed to run a diagnosis on the car. Each diagnosis costs $188; specifically, $188 for the tire pressure light and $188 for radiator leakage. I did not dispute, even I knew that one diagnosis fee was charged routinely. 30 minutes later, the guy came back to me with three diagnoses: one failed tire pressure sensor, a leaking radiator, and a broken water pump (my engine ran fine, no temperature increase). He presented me an estimate showing $377 for sensor replacement, $1200 for water pump and $1779 for radiator replacement. There were no itemized charges, just a lump charge for each replacement. I questioned why their charges were higher than market prices, he replied that that was how they charged; he also warned me that the car was not drivable due to the cooling failure. I was stupid at that moment to take his words and sign the service agreement even though I knew the engine did not have a temperature issue. After my signature, he told me he was going to order parts soon, but the repair would not start until two days later, since a tech was not available then. I left my car with them and went home after the encounter. At home, I reconsidered the actual value of the car (16 YR OLD) and the costs for the repair, so I decided not to replace the tire pressure sensor and the water pump (I did not think it was broken), but to continue replacing the radiator. I went back to the guy and expressed my ideas about 2 hrs later. The guy told me they took off the water pump and radiator already. I questioned, "Did you say the repair would not start until your tech was in two days later?" he simply replied, "We started to work once you signed the agreement". I could not do anything about it, but requested not to replace the pressure sensor. He said "ok" but I had to pay the $188 diagnosis fee for it. I insisted on looking at what they had done. He led me to the site, and I found the radiator was on the floor but no water pump. The service man said the water pump was taken down minutes ago and was took away already. They needed to retrieve it if I wanted to look at it. Apparently, the water pump was in good shape and usable, so they took it away. I did not say that to his face and went home with an awkward feeling. In the next two days, I did not hear anything about the car, so I drove back to find out if the repair went well. The guy was talking with a costomer, so I went to their manager's office, where the frog man sits. I told other manger, "Mike", why the guy did not show me an itemized bill instead of a sum. "Mike" questioned me if I spoke to the guy, I told him I just walked in and the guy was busy with somebody else, so I did not ask him the question yet. Mike was angry that I came to him before speaking with his man. He kept asking what I was looking for in a loud voice even I told him multiple times that I wanted an itemized bill. read more

I had the most horrible experience with their service department. My 2019 highlander transmission needed to be replaced and it was on back order for 3 months. They provided me a loaner. The loaner car was stolen from a parking lot while shopping on a Sunday. When I went in the next morning to discuss with the Service Director Mike Cooper, he says "Don't expect to find the car, it is probably on a shipping container going across the country". And then proceeds to ask me if I filed a claim with my insurance since I am responsible for the car. He then refused to provide me another loaner because he said they are out of a car. The car was stolen, how was that my fault? Long story short , the car mysteriously showed back up in the shopping mall parking lot 3 days later parked in 528 ft from where I left it on the next lot over. Funny how the GPS didn't work to track the car. Then Mike Cooper gaslights me to make it seem that I just forgot where the car was parked. I was with my husband and he remembers exactly where we parked. Plus If that was the case the car would have been found that night in the lot since the shopping mall closed at 9 pm and that would have been the only car on the lot with huge white letters on the back window stating Bredemann Service Loaner. So it looks like Northbrook Police wasn't doing their job either? I called Toyota Corporate to ask if they could help me with a loaner car and they just pushed me back to the dealership. They said they were going to make the GM aware. I never heard from the GM, but my car all of sudden had a new transmission and I was able to pick my car up a few days later after my call to corporate. This entire situation was sketchy from the start. As a result of this situation, I am no longer a Toyota customer. read more

Beware of a tire scam at Bredemann Toyota Service Department. When I had my car there two months ago, the service rep told me that the technician found a slow leak in one of my tires. The leak, he said, is where the tread joins the sidewall, at a spot that can't be repaired. And the nail is so small, he said, they couldn't easily show it to me. I immediately was suspicious. Such a leak in real life has to be rare, but apparently it happens so often with Bredemann customers that the service department needs a diagram on the wall to explain it. He recommended that I replace that tire and not just that one, but a pair and preferably all four; and with new tires, I would need a front end alignment. This would cost about $1200. I said I needed time to think about it. In the two and a half months since then, the allegedly leaky tire hasn't lost a single pound of pressure. I know it doesn't leak because I'm able to monitor the tire pressures on my dash display. I went back today to complain about their apparent deception. The service rep and also the Service Dept. Manager insisted that they could show me the leak. They said that if I let them take the car into the shop and put it up on a lift, they would find the leak and then come to the waiting room to get me to show me the leak. I told them that the only way I would consent to their attempt to show me the leak of a tire that isn't leaking is if I could stay with the car the entire time. They refused to do it this way. I firmly believe that if I had let them take my car into the shop today, I would indeed have had to buy a new tire. They would have pierced and ruined my tire to be able to prove to me that it leaked. This tire scam obviously is a well-oiled scam headed up by the service department manager. I'm never taking a car back to Bredemanns. I won't believe anything they tell me now. I recommend avoiding this place. read more

I've never bought a car from Bredemann but as they are close and convenient, I do the maintenance here on my Toyotas and have done so for a decade now. Staff are cordial, and the services I have received have always been timely, fair, and reliable. They offer coupon specials on some of their services but with prices going up everywhere, I am not sure what the savings really are anymore lol. Synthetic oil changes here used to be very reasonable, and sort of still are, especially for a dealer and compared to the various car and oil change shops out there. It's easy to make a service appointment via their website. They used to be great for quickly putting air in your tires on those cold days just by pulling in, but now they require paperwork just for that, so it's not a handy service anymore. They have also shrunk down significantly from their pre-Covid days but that doesn't bother me as far as my needs here. Overall, quite nice to have them in the neighborhood. read more

I have not had any success bringing my car for any issues at this dealership. Rear camera is out of calibration. I was charged $179 tax included. The technician agreed that the camera was out of calibration, but it will require another $530 evaluation and even then, that will not find the problem. We have an extended warranty but any little issue they say the warranty does not cover it. Little frustrating, but it appears they are only looking to make $$ from maintenance work. read more

Like many people, I have my guard up whenever dealing with a dealership, expecting that they will attempt to take advantage whenever possible. Bredemann has proven me wrong. When taking my vintage Toyota in for an oil change, I noticed they do auto detailing. The days of cleaning and hand waxing and buffing a car are behind me. An exterior detail was $100, so I thought I'd gamble. Well, I was completely blown away. While I had tried to clean up faded headlights (with some improvement), the details people buffed them to almost like new condition. My 23 year old Solara Convertible is gleaming and looks like it belongs on a showroom floor. And while I did not pay for the interior details, it also was cleaned and polished. I am very impressed and pleased. And yes, they detail non-Toyota brands. read more

I came with my partner to Bredemann to drop off his car for an oil change, and we stopped into the main dealership to just look around at vehicles. Immediately a gentleman near the door on the maintenance side came up to me, shook my hand and gave me his card. We had not made an appointment but he let me and the kids sit down and wait for my partner. When he came, we all walked around, he didn't interfere and just let us approach him which I really appreciate. We were able to check out the Venza, which I personally like best, and then outside we looked at a Carolla, and the man showed us his Camry. We're looking for a car with the best gas mileage, and my partner further spoke with him. We are likely to come back soon to choose a car to order. To be fair, I've never had the opportunity to experience the quality of their work. Had an appointment for 7:15am this morning. Unfortunately I had an unexpected trip to Midway airport and the drop off took a little longer than I expected. At 7:00am, I called the service department to let them know I was running about 45 minutes late. They said they wouldn't be able to see me until a week from now. Kind of a surprise, I think? I recently returned to Chicago from Las Vegas and am looking for a Toyota dealership for all of my scheduled services and maintenance (I guess I trust the dealerships for this stuff). I was interested in buying a RAV4 Plug in Hybrid. They told me they don't have any and it's a long wait list to order one and told me I could get a regular hybrid. I said I only want a plug in because I want a car that runs on gas and electric. The guy told me they are all electric and don't run on gas (not true). So I asked what is the difference between the plug in hybrid and an all electric car and he ignored me and continued to tell me how I want a regular hybrid. They clearly were just telling me this because that was the only one they had in stock to sell me. Representative Rony Collins took my car, checked the body for any damage/scratches and I signed that everything looks correct. After maintenance, they returned my car with a long scratch on the hood (aprx 20 inch). Rony Collins saw the scratch and called the Manager. Rony was very apologetic about it. The service manager, however, raised his tone and in a rude manner didn't accept the mistake. Even though they attempted to clean the scratch, the scratch was still plainly visible. Be very carefull! I have always come here to get repairs and maintenance. Richard Velasquez always been nice even though he tries to sell you a lot of packages but it's just his job. There was one time I asked him if I can watch the mechanic change the oil filter because I tried to change it but it was so tight the oil filter wrench I bought on Amazon broke. I told Richard I only wanted to learn how they take off such a tight oil filter (I'm trying to start changing my own oil to save money) but Richard wouldn't let me watch. I was telling him I'm just trying to learn but he wouldn't let me see. He said to watch through waiting room window but I can't see from there. Kind of arrogant of him to not let me watch. I'm not going to be in the way. I've been coming here for over 10 years. They usually hook it up with deals when they can. In the end I was able to get a hold of the mechanic by waiting for him to pull up after it was done. He did say the filter was very tight on. The last mechanic that changed it (Romeoville Toyota) definitely over tightened it. Hopefully in 3000 miles I'll be able to change the oil filter. read more

Went for oil change and tire rotation. They said they can't remove one of the tires due to bulged lug nuts. They said they can forcefully try to take the lug nuts out however is anything breaks it will cost about 150 dollars to repair I went to Firestone for tire rotation and they had no issues taking the lug nuts out. Went in today, August 12, 2023 intending to purchase a used vehicle. The dealers advertised hours were open until 5pm. We were ready to "write the deal" at 4:40pm, but told the finance people didn't want to stay past 5pm - so, if I wanted to purchase the car, I would have to put a deposit on the vehicle, and then return Monday by 6pm to complete the purchase - which is 2 hours before they "close". In my 20+ years of purchasing vehicles, I've never encountered a dealership that essentially "closed" 2 hours before they were advertised as closing. All other dealers stay to finalize the deal. I took my 2011 Toyota Camry in for service as I was concerned about a slight noise when I turned my power steering wheel. After taking a little over an hour to analyze analyze I was told I needed all new hoses and that they were leaking for the power steering. I was also told my back rotator brake was frozen and I needed a new rotator. Bottom line was everything would be over $3,000. I decided to go to another service company and they said power steering was fine and that it only cost $200 to fix the brakes. I don't know if Toyota is doing some type of scam, but what they did was not right. read more
