There are big chunks of lamb but a bit rubbery. Broth is not as oily as other noodle stores. Broth is also on the blend side. I ended up added more salt into the broth which I never do. Noodles were perfectly cook to al dente. I have requested refill noodles but the noodles were under cooked. Another noodle we've order was intestine with vermicelli. Just a disappointment. This is a Chinese joint for noodles in soup. You can choose to create your own noodle bowl with a choice of their meat or choose their signature noodles. We came here on a Saturday night around 830pm and the restaurant was still pretty packed. I got 02 (minced pork), and 04 (pork intestine) less spicy and the broth was very flavourful. It had a good sesame and peanut ish flavour to it with a hint of spice. You can choose different levels of spice (up to extra numb) and even get extra toppings like cilantro, green onion, sesame, etc at no extra charge which was nice. Got the beef brisket and pork belly extra spicy, normal numb, and with regular noodles. The pork belly was well marinated and melted in mouth. The beef brisket was also very tender. Me and my boyfriend have a very high tolerance for spice so the extra spicy option was too bad in my opinion. What we didn't like was how oily the broth was. The spicier it is the more chilli oil they used. It was so thick and oily that we couldn't even get more than a couple spoonfuls down. Love their selection of different proteins to add to your noodles and the ability to choose firmness in noodle, amount of soup, spice level, and adjust the toppings you'd like on your noodles. The noodles taste very chewy and their spicy added sesame which it taste extra flavorful. We also order some side dishes which aren't so good. Basically choose your base (like what sort of soup base, main topping like meat), then choose your noodle type, spicy/numb level, toppings, soup level - each person can have their own variation, lots of room for customization! Tried their steam fried dumpling as well, taste was not bad but just a little too soft for my liking, but as the name implies, it's more so steamed. Noodles were terrific though. Hey Noodle is in a strip plaza past the business of Highway 7 area that was previously not really noticeable. It was relatively busy on a weekday lunch with noodles (and make your own noodle choices) ranging from $13.99 or so upwards. At your order you will have a painstakingly annoying choices of noodles, spicy and numbness (?) levels. Noodles were nothing spectacular but it's commendable that they do have generous portions of meat to noodle ratio, which I find is always lackluster at any noodle place. There's even a piece of lettuce amongst with the usual overpowering combo of green onion/cilantro. Would be interested to try again but do find the price point a bit high. Good heat, but missing flavour. Had the beef brisket and marinated pork. Both were tender and juicy but lost in the oil. The black fungus appetiser was light and mildy spicy. I enjoyed that more. Don't get me wrong. I like spice, but there needs to be something behind it. Egg noodles are okay, free refills with satisfy the gluttons. Good luck parking on a busy night. The place was PACKED at 7:30pm on their grand opening Sunday night since everyone there was hoping to get the "$1 chongqing street noodles" promotion. My friend and I waited for an hour to be seated haha Food: The chongqing street noodles are typically $6.99 and it's vegetarian on its own so if you want to get meat or other toppings, you have to pay more. My friend got an egg for $1. You can also choose the level of spiciness. I personally love spicy food and the regular spicy level was just right, not too numbing. The soup was flavourful, there was some lettuce, preserved veggies, peanuts, and cilantro. There's also free noodle refills but it's literally just the noodles, so if you plan on getting this, don't drink all of your soup at the beginning. We both got a refill and were decently full. Ambience and service: The decor's pretty nice and the restaurant's relatively small. While we were waiting, we could look into their window and see the chefs prepping the noodles. The servers were quick and polite, so it didn't take long at all for our noodles and refills to arrive. Our bill came to a total of $3.39! Can't get better than that. Overall, I'd definitely come again and try their other dishes. The parking lot is pretty small so if you come during peak hours, might have to wait a bit considering there's still other stores in the strip plaza. read more

3 1/2 stars. They now have an online ordering site! You can customize your spice levels and numbing levels as you could if at the restaurant but now it's so much easier! The online form gave me the final push to order from Hey Noodles. I write this as my husband takes a nap. Portions are generous. He had the Tomato beef noodles soup and I had the classic dry noodles. He shared the noodles with my 5yo, and we got extra noodles for $2 extra. Probably didn't need to order the extra since they barely touched it. I was only able to eat 1/2 my portion of noodles and I'm a big eater. My noodles were quite tasty w crunchy peanuts and relish mixed into the noodles. Quite satisfying. It might be a little bit on the expensive side for $14 for that tomato soup and doesn't come with a drink. For those with shrimp allergies, the soup that comes with the Dry Noodles have dried shrimp inside (no big deal - just give it to a buddy). read more

Came to try their chongqing street noodles when they had the $1 special. The wait time wasn't that bad surprisingly (probably cause it was a Monday night) and they turn out their dishes pretty quickly. The noodles are nice and chewy. Their soup is flavourful but a little on the oily side. I got extra spicy and I think that's probably why because they add the spice by adding more chili oil. They also offer unlimited noodles so you can ask for more as you finish. It's just the noodles though, you don't get more broth. I ended up eating an additional half a bowl of the noodles (the other half went to hubby). Hubby ordered another additional bowl of noodles for himself so for the average male I would say they can probably have at least 2 bowls. There were some young guys on the table beside us and they each had 3 lol. We also tried their chicken feet and popcorn chicken as appetizers. The noodles themselves were okay, but it was the issue with paying that I did not think was professional. Make sure you carry cash with you because you need to spend $30 individually to use debit. When my friends and I ordered I first started off by stating that we were paying separately. It was only when we were paying that they informed us about this rule. When I asked if there was a sign that showcased this, they pointed to a small sticky note that stated the rule on the cashier machine. How would I be able to see this rule/note when we entered the restaurant and were immediately seated? The waitress should have informed us of the rule when I stated we wanted to pay separately BEFORE we even ordered instead of forcing us to get charged at the ATM machine. Even though the charge wasn't much and not a big deal, it was the way that this was not explicitly showcased that I thought was a little sneaky and the attitude the waitress at the cash had when I was asking about the sign. She was rude and giving faces the whole time. Did not enjoy the service, will not be coming back again. Went here yesterday. First time in any Hey Noodle restaurant. Very nice, modern and clean-looking inside. Had no idea how to order as we wanted soup bowls and the server was very nice and helped us build them. We both ordered the beef brisket with regular noodles. Food arrived quickly. Noodles were great, broth very tasty BUT the beef brisket was inedible. We asked for 2 empty bowls to pull out all the fat pieces. There was no actual beef to be eaten in my husband's soup. It was all very large chunks of fat. Mine was pretty much the same but I did manage to find 3 pieces that were half beef and half fat. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be but we would never eat fat like that. Ever. When leaving I looked into the pots in the kitchen and every one had an inch of grease floating on the top. We will not be going back. Good concept and flavours and we need a good noodle place in our part of Markham but not one that serves up this much fat. Too bad! read more
