2020 Sonoma Green Audi TT RS Purchased from HGreg Lux, Costa Mesa, CA.

I've been casually looking at Audi TT RS's for sale since I paid off my TTS last summer, checking what they are selling for. Most of the cars I had been finding were out of state and being sold by non-Audi dealerships. The problem with purchasing a car from outside of California is they must past CA Smog Emissions, so any cars with modifications can't be purchased and brought into California. Other issues include having the car inspected, trying to fly out to see the car in person, going for a test drive and then paying over $1K or more to have the car shipped back to California, especially since some areas of the US are having poor weather. Another issue is agreeing upon a price prior to even flying out of state to test drive the car. I had several misses on cars while waiting for the dealer's insanely high prices to come down to reality! Imagine one dealer is trying to charge $84,000.00 for a non-Heritage Edition 2022 TT RS, when a Heritage Ed. Is selling for $74,000.00 with less than 3,000 miles on it! Finally, this uniquely colored green 2020 Audi TT RS showed up in California at HGreg Lux for $67,988. Yes, there was a 2021 Turbo Blue TT RS, 11,949K, $66,795.00 at a Mitsubishi dealer and a 2021 Nardo Grey TT RS 9,380K $67,500.00, but the blue one had all these extra add-ons that were jacking the price up needlessly and I'm not a huge fan of the Nardo Grey color. So, I called HGreg Lux and talked to Luis and asked him about the green car, because the CarFax has it listed twice at out of state DMV's as being blue, and obviously the car is green metallic, and knowing southern California car culture I'm thinking this was a non-OEM custom paint job. Turns out it wasn't. After my other leads for out of state TT RS's were sold, I decided I got used to the idea of this green car and decided to get serious on purchasing it. I again contacted Luis and asked about bringing the car to an independent repair place for a pre-purchase inspection (PPI), to see if there was any room in the price and if he could please send me a Bill of Sale, so I could clearly see the price and any crazy add-ons if any. Luis sent me the Bill of Sale, showing just the price plus applicable sales taxes, vehicle title registration and minor fees for Pre-delivery $85.00 and electronic filing fee $33.00. No crazy mandatory Extended warranty, no dealer prep fee for $895.00, no delivery charge $500.00, no processing doc fee of $495.00, no under coating protection fee $595.00, no BS!!! He had the general manager, Sari Maleh call me to discuss any reservations I might have buying the car. We had a man to man talk and Sari told me he likes to be upfront and point out any defects and problems the car might have and not hide any junk fees that are typically revealed in often tortuous negotiations associate with purchasing any vehicle. After our discussion I made an appointment for the PPI at Strom German Auto, who a friend recommended and had the car brought over there by HGreg Lux. The PPI revealed a few minor issues of possible leaks and rust corrosion and Sari agreed to cover the cost of these items to make sure the car would meet my approval. Upon completion of the positive inspection, Sari put the car on hold for me, so I could fly down and do a test drive and in person inspection of my own, and then purchase the car if I liked it. I flew down and was picked up by Luis at the airport. We went on test drive and I decided to buy the car. In less than two hours I was out of the dealership with signed paperwork including the time to test drive the car, my own thorough inspection of the car's AC, heated seats, lights, oil level etc., taking photos with Luis and Sari by the car, me checking out two of their Aston Martin's and other high-end luxury cars, and making arrangements to pay for the Audi through my credit union. Never before in my over 30 years' experience of buying nine different vehicles have I been in and out of a dealership so fast and not felt it was an excruciating process!!! After the sale I had a couple of issues with programming the car's information functions and both Luis and Sari went the extra mile to resolve them for me making sure I was taken care of! I highly recommend HGreg Lux's Costa Mesa, CA branch and I would definitely consider buying another car from them in the future!!!

Very disappointing experience -- especially after having a great experience here in 2023…read more I originally leased my 2023 Toyota from this dealership and had a great experience, which is why I was so disappointed by what happened when I recently came back to discuss my end-of-lease options. I was shown a vehicle they had in stock and simply said I didn't like the color and asked if they had one in white or black. The manager came over and repeatedly acted as though my preference about the color was ridiculous. At one point, he literally wrote "COLOR BLIND" on a piece of paper. He also repeatedly brought up my credit score and made it clear that he believed I wouldn't be able to get a better deal anywhere else because I was already with Toyota Financial. I told him multiple times that I was not ready to trade in my vehicle that day and wanted to take some time to figure out my options. Rather than respecting that, he continued pressing me with, "Well, what do you need to figure out?" He then told me that if I didn't take the car that day, I would eventually end up without a car and would have to Uber to work. I was also told that my lease buyout was about $4,000 higher than the amount stated in my lease agreement because of a "certification." That didn't sound right to me, so I decided to step back, review my actual lease paperwork, and get an independent opinion before agreeing to anything. I left feeling pressured, belittled, and honestly pretty shocked by the way I had been spoken to. Then comes the part that really says it all: the very next day, I received a voicemail from the dealership saying they were suddenly able to get the color I had originally asked for. So after being told they didn't have the color I wanted and being pressured to take what was available that day, suddenly the color I wanted could be found. I completely understand that dealerships are businesses and that negotiating is part of buying a car. What I don't appreciate is being pressured, having my credit score repeatedly used against me, being told I would essentially be stranded without a car if I didn't make a decision immediately, and being made to feel ridiculous for having a simple preference about the vehicle I was considering. I had a genuinely positive experience with this dealership in 2023. Unfortunately, this experience completely changed my opinion. I would strongly recommend anyone considering doing business here to know the terms of their lease, get the buyout numbers in writing, and don't let anyone pressure you into making a decision on the spot.

I never felt pressured or rushed, which made the buying experience that much better. Morris went above and beyond to answer all of my questions and made sure everything was handled smoothly from start to finish. The Cayenne is beautiful and exactly what I was looking for, and I truly feel like I had a first-class buying experience. I took it back three times, and the last time I took it back, they said they replaced all the pads and rotors but didn't give me a receipt. About two months ago, the manager called me back and tried to guilt trip me into removing the review. He said, "Did we really deserve that one star? We tried everything we could to fix the problem." I told him, "You didn't fix the problem. That's just an excuse. "The reality is you did not fix the problem." He said, "Well, at least give us some credit. We put in new rotors and the pads." I said that was nice but it doesn't fix the problem, and they keep lying over and over. Lies over lies. Yesterday, I took it to have the brakes inspected and get an oil change, and come to find out, the front is at 7 and the back is at 3. I drive about 200 miles a week, so there is no way. They probably never even changed any brakes or rotors at this point since they never gave me a receipt. They lied to me repeatedly. I hate when I am taken out to look like an idiot, and I have the proof from the inspection receipt. I will report this to the Better Business Bureau now.

I feel bad for customers who may not know to do that research and could end up paying far more than they should. Despite promising an upfront discount, they packed a massive $2,379 in mandatory, hidden dealer add-on packages (labeled as TPP and VPP PLUS) right back onto the bill. No pressure tactics, no surprise fees, fair pricing, and a quick and easy transaction. It's refreshing compared to the typical used car dealer experience, and I genuinely appreciated that. The Bad: I drove off the lot and immediately noticed two warning lights on the dash: charging port fault and airbag. You know how cars flash a few lights on startup and they disappear within seconds? That's what I assumed. Besides, you're spending $50K+ on a car and you don't expect to drive away with these active warnings. I simply trusted Zed on that. Both turned out to be real issues. $1,400 paid to fix it. During my inspection, one of the Falcon Wing doors hesitated when opening. Zed said it was probably the sun, shade, or dust interfering. I took his word for it. It wasn't. $650 quote from Tesla. One week later, a steering rack warning appeared. $4,000 quote. Total damage in week one: over $6,000 on top of the purchase price. My Take: I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he didn't know about these issues. But either way, it's clear these cars aren't being thoroughly inspected before they hit the lot. I'd give 3.5 stars if I could, but $6,000+ in repairs within a week makes 4 stars hard to justify. Would I buy from here again? "Maybe..." But next time I'm bringing my own inspector, spending more time on the test drive, and checking every light, every panel, and every moving part myself. Bottom line: Good dealer. Smooth process. But do NOT skip a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Do NOT assume the car is in good condition because you're having a good experience during your time at the dealership.

The week before that, a friend offered to help me sell my Jeep but he tried to get me to sign my title without a date saying that's what all sellers do in advance of selling cars. (Never sign the title until the money has been surrendered to you and the buyer is standing in front of you. I felt betrayed and disappointed by the so-called "friend". I had already contacted a shop owner & friends who only purchase Jeeps. They all wanted to buy my Jeep but times are tough lately & no one was liquid to purchase. I'm telling you all this to let you know how discouraged and roughed up I was feeling by the time I arranged my appoint my for Phillips Auto to see my Jeep. I am spreading the word now that your experience with Phillips will also feel great. You will be greeted in a friendly, professional casual manner. I finally met the affable Andreas (who had been communicating with me about my Jeep I was thinking of selling) and the impressive Bianca who feels like a friend from the start. She is in charge and you feel comfortable and charmed and informed. Both are kind and efficient while appraising my vehicle. Bianca's experienced eye and candor helps the checklist go fast. Their offer price was transparent and fair; very close to my Kelley Blue Book estimate. Bianca is prepared and lets you k is what she is thinking & openly helps you along with understanding the process. Also, there was no pressure; they gave me the time I needed to call a couple friends' approval to hear their thumb's up. I got free water & a peaceful environment despite other customers & representatives doing business. The showroom is busy but not loud or bustly. Yes, I could have gone privately to sell my Jeep. But I had to get real with myself; I have never sold a vehicle privately before & my Jeep was older & would need time & investment of staging it well to sell it in my own. I did not have the knowledge to do all the trudge work necessary & not the time to meet & haggle with prospective buyers when Phillips has the staff & equipment to pass the Wrangler along to someone who would be just as happy with it as I have been driving it. The paperwork was quick. Phillips will do everything needed. All I did was sign & cancel my car insurance--and that process was not as nice as selling the car, wouldn't you know?! (I certainly felt taken advantage of by my car insurance later that day. That is a different and not as cheerful of a Yelp review & I have been with the same insurance company for 40 years.) Phillips treated me better on our first transaction than my long term insurance agent. Phillips Auto even provided me a complimentary Uber ride home. The wonderful element about Phillips is integrity & decency at this family-owned dealership. My car insurance franchise is also family-owned. Mind boggling with how wonderful I regard Phillips Auto. I'm going to keep referring all whom I care about to do business with Phillips Auto. Bianca is stellar. Please tell her you read this review. She is great people!!
