This place rocks. Stiff drinks and friendly locals. Live music on the weekends is typical.

Bite the Bullet debut night at the Hi-Brow!

I'm glad I got to see the debut of Bite the Bullet live, right here in upland! The Hi-Brow was a great place for live music and drinks right here in Upland, tucked away in an unassuming shopping center. The band was high energy right away with a great vocalist singing familiar yet fresh songs all night. I had a lot of fun trying different drinks with the friendly bartender (my fav mix that night was a simple vodka, sprite and watermelon syrup). I'll be back to the Hi-Brow for engaging live performers, great battening service, and play pool under neon lights. I wish I could post a video, but here's a pic of Bite the Bullet!

    "Bite the Bullet!"

Fun little place to get some heavy poured drinks, listen to music, and play some pool. Such an amazing Saturday night of drinks and seeing the local band "Bite the Bullet" (who were a 10/10)!

Thanks for the free tires. Because unlike you this boss is covered. Wouldn't have gotten it without you.

Adam and Jill are two of the bartenders that I know that have been there for years and they are super friendly and personable.

It's a small place with a pool table and jukebox box to play music of the bartender is not already playing country or that new rap. It's a cool place, but unless you are family/friend, or become a regular, don't be surprised if you don't get the vip treatment the people sitting at the bar stools get. Unfortunately they do not have food. They do occasionally have chips for sale, but that's it. We like it. We keep coming back.

During the halftime show, when Spanish music was playing, we noticed people in the bar hollering and making comments. Instead of letting the broadcast continue, the bar changed the entire channel and switched to country music. What made this especially frustrating was how it felt like the presence of other cultures in the bar was being ignored or dismissed altogether. It didn't feel like a neutral decision--it felt like an intentional choice to cater to one group while denying others the same space and respect. The vibe instantly shifted from enjoyable to uncomfortable. A bar hosting an event this big should be welcoming to everyone, not selective about which cultures are acceptable. Unfortunately, this experience came across as tone-deaf and, honestly, racist. There are plenty of better places to watch a game where everyone feels welcome.

The menu is on the smaller side, but the food is surprisingly good simple dishes done well, with that cozy pub comfort you hope for. When we called ahead, no one mentioned they were only serving a limited St. Patrick's Day menu today. Nothing from the regular menu was available. My daughter ended up eating plain fries the whole time because there wasn't a single kid-appropriate option. It felt misleading after being told it's family-friendly when we called prior to coming. The place was packed. The line was out the door, and we had a long wait. Inside was uncomfortably hot and stuffy too. I was eyeing the Cottage Pie but asked the server about peas (not a fan), and she said it might have a lot, so I passed. My wife ordered it instead since she doesn't mind peas and surprise, zero peas in it. She said it was just okay, nothing special, so I guess I didn't miss out. I went with the Irish Nachos instead. They were fine, but the house-made potato chips were underwhelming. Crispy but not flavorful. The standout was the lemon pepper wings. Those were actually really good. Green beer was a fun thematic touch too. Atmosphere is lively for the holiday, but for a regular visit or even future St. Patrick's Day? Probably not coming back. If you're planning to go on the big day, brace for crowds and waits. And for fun, here's a limerick summing it up: There once was a pub in Upland so grand, For St. Paddy's we joined hand in hand. But the menu was slim, Kid options were grim, Just fries for our lass, what a bland! The heat made us sweat, lines out the door, Cottage Pie? "Peas maybe." We weren't sure. No peas in the end, Wife said "meh" my friend, Nachos were fine, wings we adored. Green beer was cool, but that's all the cheer, Average at best, won't return here. Three stars is the call, For the holiday thrall. Fun once, but not every year!

The blue cheese burger I wished were a bit stronger in blue cheese flavor (as a person who loves lots of blue cheese), but the burger was definitely filling for both the eyes and the tummy. The only thing I wished is that the burger didn't feel as heavy/greasy, but if that were the case, I probably wouldn't have chosen a burger. That said, the grease did feel like it took away from the flavors, making the burger tasting milder than I had wanted. That said, it was very enjoyable overall. The dog menu was surprisingly different from what I've seen. It was surprisingly healthy looking with the amount of vegetables they added to my dog's bowl including some Brussels sprouts. There was no rice at all, which was fine for me since my dog doesn't really like rice. Unfortunately, he is so picky, so he picked out the chicken from the vegetables even with me pre-mixing it, and I think the vegetables are too firm to his liking. However, I appreciate the food being healthy and the portions, even if he himself will not really eat most of it. I'm sure some other dog will do a lot better with the bowl!

This pub is part of downtown upland, so there is sporadic parking located in surrounding areas. You'd get parking in the front if you're very lucky. As we walked in, we noticed some patrons sitting outside with drinks. We walked in, and the bar area with the bartender was quite packed. So packed, we couldn't walk towards the back. Luckily, the barista announced to us there's a server in the back and self served seating. When the patrons heard that, only then did the make room for us to walk through. We seated ourselves in the back near the kitchen, where a server named Danny was sweet enough to help us out. He had gotten us two IPAs and a margarita pizza. He also let us sample an additional IPA, since we were quite torn between two. He was very sweet and humorous, so shout out to him! He made our visit amazing! As for the pizza, I wasn't very impressed. Although I liked the dough, the pizza itself was quite plain. I've had some fantastic margarita pizzas, and perhaps this wasn't it. We promised Danny that we'd be back to try a different one, because he swears by it! Overall, the decor was quite interesting. I enjoyed seeing all the street signs and the alternative rock music they had playing. We will be back, as promised, when we crave another pizza.
