I tried out Hibachi88 this past weekend for date night after receiving a mailer--turns out, it replaced the old Chinese #1 spot. The Good: Friendly staff - Welcoming and attentive. Totally remodeled interior - A nice, fresh update. Solid portion sizes - No complaints here. Fair pricing - Especially with the mailer deal (buy one entrée at full price, get the second 50% off). Decent food quality - Good, but missing that extra flavor or pizzazz to really stand out. The Not-So-Good: No free water option - Only bottled water for sale. Skimpy on veggies - My rice and chicken came with exactly four broccoli florets. Four. Come on now. To-go style dining - Even though they have tables and booths, all orders come in takeout containers, making it feel like they expect most people to just grab and go. Overall, Hibachi88 is fine--decent food, reasonable prices, and a nice space. But a few small changes (like offering tap water and adding more veggies) could make it even better. Would I go back? I absolutely loved this place. I was in the mood for hibachi and looked up some spots, and this place came up. There is one in Durham, but I felt like driving out to Cary. It was in an easy to find area, and very nice. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the nicest woman ever. We had a great conversation about our love for NSYNC lol. I picked up my order, and ate it as soon as I got home. Cary is a good 15 to 20 minute drive from where I live, and the food was super hot still! I ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp with clear soup and crab rangoons. Everything was delicious. Solid fast Chinese spot. I tried the soa chicken noodles and a miso soup. The miso soup was delivered to my table first and a few minutes later the noodles. Both were very hot which is excellent. The miso soup was average, but for just 2.28 I can't knock it much. The noodles had an excellent flavor. The zucchini was cooked all the way through, but retaining a slight crunch almost like a slightly meatier pickle. the quantity was large enough for just about anybody's hunger. The total of the meal was 11.67. I would definitely return here if I'm looking for a decent lunch with quick downtime. read more

This new, cute spot had really high reviews so we decided to try it. I ordered hibachi steak and shrimp & my ordered shrimp fried rice. The steak was a rubbery and dry. The sauce they gave me really didn't help. The shrimp was okay but would've preferred larger size. My husband said the fried rice taste like it was prepared from an instant meal and not fresh. The crab Rangoon was good. They need to upgrade their plastic forks from those flimsy cheap kind and move away from styrofoam while dining in the restaurant. Has to be my favorite Hibachi spot. You get a good amount of food especially the chicken or steak. Tastes really great with lots of flavor and wow I love the yum-yum sauce. This has become our go-to spot when ordering hibachi. The dumplings are also pretty good too. read more

Hidden in the corner of a plain Jane Lowe's Food shopping center in Morrisville, it's very easy to miss Hibachi88. It's not fancy but it is a good fast casual healthier option for this part of West Cary. This is the standard order at the counter & they cook to order. The only issue I had was that we had to repeat our order 3-4 times to the young girl behind the counter & she still had the order wrong. Entrees were all served in disposable to-go containers with plenty of white and ginger sauces. They all came with fried rice and sautéed veggies. we were in town for a few days and needed something quick & easy the night we arrived. we ordered over the phone & it was ready quickly. the staff were super friendly & the food was SO good! we got the gyoza (spectacular) the crab rangoons (pretty good, just not big fans of the sauce), the different hibachi plates (SO good!), and some extra white sauce... this entire review is biased on how spectacular that white sauce was. it was the best i've ever had in my life. i'd buy a bucket of it to take home if i could. The Hibachi Shrimp and Steak is way too skimpy and the Steak totally lacked taste for the price the shrimp are way too small and the so call steak is a few really small measly chunks an absolute ripoff,they fill the container with their tastless fried rice to make it look like you get a lot such a shame.The white sauce comes in a package which is way too watery and has a tiny amount of taste I like my Hibachi with a good white sauce this place has the worst pre-made sauce in a package.I will look for another Hibachi place with better quality food this place is not the one this is not a real deal Hibachi Restaurant at all read more

Was so excited when I saw a hibachi place opening in Cary and this did not disappoint! The service was fast and the employees were very nice. We got our food pretty quick and decided to eat in the restaurant as it seemed nice inside. I got the hibachi steak (ask for extra teriyaki sauce on the side) and it came with veggies and fried rice. I also got the clear soup. All of these things tasted so good. The soup was hot and very flavorful. The steak and rice tasted great with the extra sauce and the veggies were perfect since they weren't doused in sauce like some other places. Will be recommending to neighbors! Originally coming from NY and a foodie, I would give Hibachi 88 a solid "meh!?" On a scale of one to five chef hats, I would give this place maybe a two and a half. The food is not at all comparable to a real Hibachi [steak] restaurant like a Benihana. I really didn't expect it to be. However, as far as fast food take out, I'd rather stick with decent Chinese take-out. I ordered the steak and shrimp combo, which considering take-out prices wasn't all that inexpensive. However, putting that aside, you get what you pay for. The steak was over-cooked [too well done}, not that they ask you how you want it...they don't. The shrimp were OK as was the rice and vegetables. Overall, it was unremarkable and for my taste, pretty bland even with the sauces they provide. The salad with the ginger dressing was OK as were the spring rolls and the plain soup. All I can say is that places like this are not for me. I don't mind paying extra money for quality.
