I've never written a review before, but this place has so many of my favorites so I just had to give them some credit. I came from the west coast to spend the week with my family for Halloween and I was absolutely jealous of what they are serving here compared to what we get back home! They have so many of my favorites, such as oysters, crab, and calamari. They also serve whole fish on tray, unlike those fish fillets you'd get frozen in packages, these looked freshly caught! They also serve a variety of food you'd expect from other Chinese restaurants, like Sushi, hibachi grill, as well as few America dishes. Decor is simple but not lacking. They have a really beautiful fish fountain perfect for picture taking and even better if you have children because they let you feed their fish! Overall I gave them a 4 star, because there are other minor setbacks but It was a really enjoybale experience nonetheless. I will definitely visit this place a few more times before I return home! read more

I came here with my brother and his friend after a long night out. This was the greatest thing that we could have stumbled upon in the area. The sushi was very fresh and delicious, with the meal overall being very good. Some of the other cooked dishes like the chicken teriyaki could have used a little more heat but it was still good. A typical Chinese buffet = bright colors from wall to wall, plethora of food options, mediocre service, decorative fish pond and waterfall in the entrance, but the food was ultimately sub-par (best-thing was the teriyaki chicken skewers). The hibachi option is provided for no additional charge but the wait isnt worth it. The parking lot may be full and the line may be out the door, but they do a good job of getting people in and out. I had a little 5 minute wait on a Friday night and the place was extremely crowded. This place I have to say is one of the best chinese buffet in Connecticut. I took a road trip with one of my friends and we stop here. When we first arrived we was seated immediately. That is a great start for great customer service. What was truly interesting is how they have the two sections. One section that they make a wonderful performance, and they have a buffet section. Which was soo many food options. Which was a plus. As for cleanliness. It was not the best. Sorry to say. The bathroom needed to most attention. Because there was toilet paper everywhere and it was not well maintained. -1 star But as for price it was very very reasonable. When I go to a chinese buffet in nyc. You have to pay 15 dollars for dinner or maybe more. But this buffet in Connecticut you pay only 10 dollars. Like come one NYC. So Connecticut wins my vote. As for customer service it was great. The nice chinese lady was very attentive to me and my friends and made sure we was important. As for food it was delightful the most part. My friends and I were studying late and were starving after having not eaten all day, so we decided to grab a bite. They are fans of this place, so I returned to give it another shot. I felt that the food had improved, or simply I picked better things to eat - the key is to avoid their deep fried food. So I dined on hibachi and sushi, as well as a few other items. Their sushi is alright, but definitely not of the caliber of a true sushi restaurant. It tasted fresh and didn't trigger any concerns for me. The hibachi, likewise, was good but not of the caliber of a hibachi restaurant. The service was disappointing. It was generally a challenge to get our waitress' attention for the bill and so on. I must say, though, that the cost/value ratio here is good. Recommendations: -Avoid most of the fried foods -Fill up on lighter fare instead Verdict: Although I wouldn't personally choose to dine here again, I wouldn't object and would return with friends if they wanted to eat here. read more

The waitress sat us at a table with complete strangers. It was very uncomfortable. I looked at the waitress and said, "are you serious?" She said there's no other option, they are too busy right now. We could have waited... but she never gave us that option and we didn't want to offend the people she was sitting us with by demanding to wait for our own table. Also, the staff stands there watching you eat. Then once you're done, they take your plate away. When you start getting dessert, they get your bill. They might think they're being hospitable and efficient, but it's very uncomfortable being watched and stared at while eating at a buffet. read more

Food is quite decent for a buffet- waitresses are generally friendly.... Until the check comes. You tip them based on their service right? You give them a tip, but they WILL judge you based on it and will say "oh no, more tip". Not exactly something that deserves a high tip at all. Didn't see much seafood like the picture they did We went there for lunch .The food wasn't that much like we expected pretty disappointed. When we almost finished ,some of my friends told us that they brought more seafood so he took it !! But we didn't know that it was dinner time. The food the fancy foods that they just served it was for dinner customers ! Because my friend didn't know English he couldn't read or speak English so he not even realized that there was label next to the food that he took. When I was taking it I saw the labels so I told him but we couldn't do anything he and his wife eat it all!The waitress look at us but she didn't say anything . Terrible service on the sushi bar, guy refuses to restock California rolls. Makes every wierd roll imaginable but that, asked numerous times and was ignored. Went to ask up front for more and guy who appeared to be a manager was extremely rude telling me to be patient despite the fact I was already waiting there close to a half hour. I am NEVER coming back to this place, and if you like sushi I'd suggest finding another place to eat at!!!! read more

The food is a little below par for Chinese buffets. The service is what kills it, however. The sign on the door says that they close at 11 on Saturday. We got there, tonight, at 9:18. Plenty of time, right? At 10, they took away the serving utensils from the buffet. When I returned to the table, I found they had taken my silverware, too, even though my wife was still sitting there. Dessert items were the first thing packed up, too... In terms of Asian buffets in CT, this place ranks really high on the list. Choices are very consistent in terms of availability and quality. The sushi bar is well-stocked, which is already a major plus, since a lot of buffets advertise sushi, but have a small selection or take forever to restock. The staff work hard here and it shows. I eat here often because it is so convenient and you can eat all you like! Perfect for family situations, where everyone's got their own preferences--something for everyone. The only downsides are that the furniture and seating could use some updating. It's gotten a lot of use, but is still manageable. Also, one bit of advice, scan the dining area for where you want to sit and tell the hosts. The hosts tend to seat visitors in very clustered/tight arrangements, but if you tell them beforehand where you want to sit, they are more amenable. I read some of the other reviews on here and can say part of the negative reviews for this place resides more from people's personal biases than the food/service itself (e.g., that Alexander Z. reviewer--he didn't even review the food and just made a potentially racist joke). It's a buffet people and it's not the Ritz Carlton of dining facilities! If you are so smug and uppity about buffets, don't knock it for the rest of us, who can live with the balance of price and quantity/quality. Compared to other buffets, you don't realize how good you have it! Overall, for the price and the quantity/quality of food, this place really hits it out of the park. Went there for the first time food was good (for the most part) but I couldn't finish it all so I asked for a To go box & the lady brought it to me but never said anything about charging me extra for the food I already had on my plate so we paid & as I'm walking out to the door the hostess stands in front of me & tells me I need to pay for my left over food I already paid for, like r u for real I told her it's my left overs from my dinner I PAID FOR ALREADY & than she attempted to put her hands on me to stop me from walking out the door she insisting I pay more for my food again I said I already touched the food I jst couldn't finish it at that moment I wanted to take it home to finish later but she wouldn't let me leave til she got more money out of me which NO I did not pay for food I already paid for, she told me to go sit back down & finish it but I wasn't leaving w/o paying more.... I have been here twice and and the food actually isn't too bad. I ate like two plates of food on both occasions however one thing did bother me. At both times when i was paying the waitress who was giving me refills was hovering over me asking for a tip. It's almost like they were begging. The first time i gave a decent tip and she got mad it wasn't more and in a way yanked the receipt out of my hand and walked away. She almost tripped doing so too. My father contracted a seriously horrible stomach disease from this place. He is such a sweetheart that he refused to complain to the department of health - but I am not afraid! This place is absolutely awful, but then again you get hat you pay for. The target for this place is college students. Most college students have low funds therefore low quality in food. You may from time to time catch something fresh but for the most part the food is relatively old from sitting there for a couple of hours. You have to really be lucky to catch actual fresh food. In one of my previous reviews for a Chinese buffet place, I stated that Asians as a people are buffet experts. Well, the entire Chinese population of Connecticut may have been here for lunch during my visit. A tour bus from Massachusetts then dropped off another two dozen Chinese people. So I guess this place must not suck if all my peoples were here. The selection here is really extensive. It even has kimchi! It wasn't great kimchi, but it was definitely edible kimchi. I ate so much stuff, but I can't really describe anything I ate because they all started to taste the same after a while. I did finish my meal with some lychee jello though. Overall, if there was a 3.5 star option, I would give them that. The food was good, but it was pretty standard. The most enticing thing about his place is that my lunch was $8.07 (with tax, without tip accounted). It's been quite awhile since we've ate at this buffet. After several years I said to my mom let's give'em a try for lunch and see if they've gotten better. When we first walked in......it's the same ole gloomy place. This place really needs a renovation. The rugs look horrid!!!!!! The wooden accents are all scratched up really bad. The tables.....alot of them look like someone took mini blow torches to them with melt bruises on them. The place as a whole really doesn't seem clean to me. At the end of several of the buffet stations on the floor were dirty nasty dish rags. Don't understand why they would keep them there.....but it's a total turnoff!!!!!! Now the food. I'd say 98% of what I had was cold.....and just plain blechhhhh!!!!! Now I know why this buffet isn't crowded anymore. When we came here about 5+ years ago you'd have to drive around several times to find a spot.....now you can park wherever you want. The majority of the food selections seemed to be drying out. Starting as fresh.....juicy.....and possibly good.....and turning back to hard....dried out. I had what looked to be a giant stuffed clam. The outside looked like it was done....but when you took a bite the inside seemed close to raw. I had white rice.....and you know that.....that is always safe. It was chewy and hard in certain bites. I was like really?!?!?!? A Chinese restaurant that can't make rice?!?!?!? What I think happened is.....the rice is sooooooooo old and un-fresh it's going back to it's dry state. The only things I thought was edible was the wonton soup and the fried chicken wings. Everything else I'd give a total thumbs down. I also think the health departments rating of an "A" is bogus. If I was with the health department I'd give them an D- today. Bad bad bad. I won't be returning to this dog of a restaurant. Oh.....I forgot to mention our waitress Anna. This place has tons of food choices hot bar, sushi bar , hibachi bar , and ice cream bar. You honestly don't know what to choose. I love the coconut chicken , , Terriyaki chicken , fried shrimp , plantains , crab legs , macaroni and cheese , Chinese donuts , crab meat casserole and of course the pizza !! To name a few When you check in they give you a number of how many in your party and call you when your tables ready. It's large and has tons of your typical options (American, Chinese, Hibachi- yum!, and Sushi). You really can't beat the lunch price even if you get one plate of sushi or hibachi. Until one thing happened: Hair. Many things were inedible. There was about 1/2 of the usual amount of food available,but the things that were available were disgusting and no where near fresh. If you want good hibachi, go to Hayama next door. If you're on a budget and you really don't want fast food, this is a much better alternative than Micky D's. Couldn't belive that our bill was $10 less than when we go to the diner! So you get what you pay for and then some. Wide variety of dishes. Sushi is really just a bunch of rolls, only a few of them actually contained fish. But not terrible. If you get the hibachi, when selecting your meat get about 3 or 4 times the amount you think you need. Those little medallions of meat shrink up and are only a little thicker than potato chips! Also I didn't see any fish selections for hibachi ( aside from that fake crab stuff that I've never ever seen in habachi cooking ). Buffet was ok. I'm a fish eater, but couldn't persuade myself to try the fish dishes, they just didn't look good sitting in the warming tray. Wait staff was pleasant and quick to wisk away used dishes. Overall fairly clean for a buffet and fun interior decor, but still feels a bit like a cafeteria. Reading reviews a lot of people seemingly had a negative experience with this place, but I had the complete opposite. They state they have over 350 items in the bar, and they're true to their word. This place is pretty massive, and granted some items on the buffet aren't the best, but it's a buffet, and a cheap one at that. I love buffets for their variety - I go with the expectation that the food will not be good as restaurants where food is made after you ordered it. This is one of the larger Chinese buffets in the area and it's cheaper than the one in Derby by my home. The variety is impressive. There's a hibachi area - more veggies than the Derby one, and there's even rice that you can mix in with your noodle. YUMMY. But the only thing was I didn't see chili sauce as an add-in, which I really like! There's more variety of seafood here than just shrimp and salmon. There's also a larger sushi section. I ate some raw fish and no issues the next day :). The price is great for the selection and I'd go back again next time I am craving a huge variety of food. For the price that you pay for the food, this place is awesome. First off, because of the price it will attract a certain crowd. It's definitely not a high-end hibachi/Japanese restaurant where everything is $20 and up. It's a decent "catch a weekend meal" fast type thing for little. The selection is huge and it's just like any other Chinese take-out place plus a few other things. Taste-wise, it is not bad. I mean, what can you really expect out of an American-style Asian place? For the price, food is not bad at all. Relatively fresh, good flavoring, huge selection. Service and the dining experience is what knocks off the stars here. The section I was seated in had a pungent, unsanitary smell. I thought I was sitting near a bathroom, but that didn't seem to be the case. Immediately requested to change the seating area, but even after moving to a different table at the other end of the section, the smell lingered.
