Everything here was SO good--we had the tator tots, onion rings, pulled pork, brisket, pork ribs and navy beans. Don't come too close to closing bc they run out of food frequently. They don't do phone orders but you can call to see if they still have food that day. The service was amazing too. It really felt like eating with family... we'll definitely be coming back regularly. I really loved this place it was homey, and Pitmaster Rick came around and talked to us about the meets served and his experience! I had the brisket which was really great, and my boyfriend had the beefs ribs. He's from Texas and has high expectations for bbq and these surpassed them all!!!! Served naked (as it should) the meat needed absolutely nothing. It has got to be the shining star of the place- It was that amazing! Can we talk about that Mac-n-cheese? Super velvety- eat it hot tho. Lovely flavor combination and those sun dried tomatoes are a perfect compliment... so good! Hubby chose ribs (3 bones) with tots for his side. Ribs were so wonderful, the smoke and the seasoning was spot on! The tots were tots, however that little fairy dust they sprinkle on top is so good! Use the honey mustard to dip... you'll be glad you did. It's an excellent honey mustard - perfectly balanced. We shared an order of onion rings. $10 for onion rings seems high, but really, it could be shared between 4 comfortably. The breading is so tasty and it's got a seasoning o can't put my finger on, I think it's their fairy dust - whatever it is , it works! Again, use the honey mustard if you're a dipper. They gave us a taste of their chili. The meat they use is ridiculous. So good! So soft, and picks up the flavor of the spices. The spices are very pronounced. Too much so for my husband, but I enjoyed it. Very earthy and warm, I swear I taste notes of coffee and cinnamon- 5spice, maybe? Not sure, but I do think it would be fantastic with cornbread. Not sure who the gentleman was that came around making sure we enjoyed everything, but I appreciated him asking."Is there something you think we can do to improve anything?" Wow. I wish Hickory was open all week. The quality of meat that comes out of this kitchen is amazing. Pork ribs and beef ribs are fall off the bone tender! The brisket and pastrami are juicy. Flavors are outstanding! The cashier is always has a smile on his face. The bar displays lots of awards for you to see the love and passion that goes into the food. Hands down, the best BBQ I've had. I'm PICKY with BBQ because I feel like BBQ sauce is too sweet and ruins the meal but the brisket here is SOOO good, you don't need to put anything on it. It's beautifully seasoned and cooked perfectly it melts in your mouth. The onion rings are the reason my husband brought us here and they did not disappoint. Breading and seasoning were on point Got our daughter chicken nuggets and tots and those were also delicious. We each stole a nugget from her basket and in the car, she started eating leftovers and I almost lost a finger with how quickly she snatched it and shoved it into her mouth. The mac and cheese had good flavor but the noodles were a little overcooked for my taste. Maybe it was just a bad batch but definitely not worth losing a star on this review. What we did order more of was the tater tots. Oh, the tots! Come for the brisket; stay for the tots. And then stay longer for the banana pudding. I don't usually love pudding, but this pudding is different. Great big chunks of buttery wafer cookie inside! For 4 adults we ordered a pound of brisket, half rack of ribs, 2 orders of tots and 1 order of onion rings. It was the perfect amount. We were all satisfied. Sadly, no leftovers! Their breading was so tasty and I just could not get enough of it. Additionally, their service was fantastic. Waiters came by consistently checking on us and asking if we needed anything. This is a quaint place in a strip mall. There is a beer bar and a side fridge with bottled drinks. The chairs are comfortable. There are 2 large TVs and a simple, country decor I had the pulled pork sandwich $14, which was tasty and comes by itself my friend had the brisket plate which comes with 1 side $22 (unless you order the large size, which includes 2 sides). Considering I just had BBQ yesterday at a 5 star restaurant, I am in a comparing mode. For the price and portion size it is fair but not worth the price. When they say inflation is giving restaurants the excuse to raise their prices to unimaginable highs...this place takes the cake! This was my first time here. I don't eat red meat. Went with family and my vote didn't count. First off---not many choices to choose from. No chicken. So I had to go with the 20 dollar turkey salad. On side note the bbq plates are 32 dollars and up. No thanks. So I get the salad and I thought it had to be a joke. It was basically 3 pieces of turkey on top of a bed of plain lettuce. Seriously? 20 dollars for this???? Wtf! Turkey was decent but salad was gross. Hubs really liked the ribs but we will not be coming back. And I don't think with prices like these this place will attract a lot of repeat business.
