So Cortina's is 5 minutes from my office, but I've probably gone there 4 times. The food is delicious. The outdoor patio is nice. The service is attentive and efficient. The only problem is...it's always packed!!! And they're open only for a few hours a day. Today I decided to do takeout. I ordered and paid online from the restaurant and I got a text with the time my order was going to be ready. I parked in their private lot and found my order ready to go on a shelf to the right of the front door. The cashier came out from behind the counter (without me even asking) to get me the bag of jalapeño chips that I ordered (which was very nice since the place was packed and the chips were on the far wall). The sandwiches are huge! I got a 6" tuna and my husband got the 10" Cortina's Special. Both were loaded! I had to eat mine open faced and I could only eat half! Unfortunately, the whole wheat roll was delicious, but the tuna was a little too much on the sweet side (I have a similar complaint with the tuna at Board & Brew). Recently went to visit but left disappointed. Ordered two different sandwiches for pick up. When we checked, expecting pastrami sandwich, it was one with mortadella and banana peppers?! Drove all the way back and when I told the staff at cash register, they just asked the guy in back and placed it in my bag. No apology, no offer to comp sandwich. So, told staff that it was an inconvenience, they couldn't get order right, and I had to drive all the way back. Then, they offered to refund my payment. Pastrami sandwich: took one bite and it was just fat. Opened it up and saw that half of the meat was fat?! After removing the fatty parts, there wasn't much left to eat. This place doesn't need the shoutouts or advertisement - both locations are great, and do well without but I'm still going to leave a review because for 10+ yrs, we have been enjoying their food/sandwiches! I have to start with their cannolis: one of the best I've had! Crunchy, enough filling. I like both but my favorite is the chocolate one. You guys know how big and depending on what you get, how filled the sandwiches are! It doesn't matter which one you get, they are just the best!!! The reason for my 3 stars is that I ordered a sandwich with no cheese, due to being allergic to cheese I specifically told them. However, they gave me a sandwich with cheese in it. My mom found this place through a coworker who is a regular. She brought Cortina sandwiches for a department lunch one day and that's how the good news spread. Cortina's has become my favorite sandwich shop. My mom usually drops by there once a week to pick up lunch for the family. My step dad loves the roast beef dip, my brother go to is the philly cheesesteak and my mom's favorite is the Cortina Special. For me I've had the Fireball, pastrami, philly cheesesteak, Rocky Balboa, Meatball, Sausage and peppers, Cortina special all of them delicious but the Philly cheesesteak is my favorite. I have yet tried their pasta. Maybe someday I will. Overall service is good but they do get busy because of their limited business hours. I'm surprised I've never seen this place before, but it is in an industrial area. They are only open weekdays for lunch. I ordered the Cortina's special sandwich which is basically an Italian. I also had spaghetti and meatballs. I was surprised with the sandwich. Most places skimp and give you mostly bread. The sandwichis here are loaded and very good. The spaghetti and meatballs was also very good. The meatballs were moist. Some places they are dry. You also get garlic bread. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Sodas are from Stubborn, meats and cheeses are Boarshead. I feel you get your money's worth here. To bad they aren't open evenings and weekends. read more

Just like the Anaheim location (which I love), this place has amazing food and great service. Today he had a friend ordered the 10" Rocky Balboa and the cheesesteak sandwiches (We both take a half of each so we have some variety). As always, the Rocky Balboa is the champion (pun intended), you just can't beat the flavor. The cheesesteak was also excellent. Not only are the sandwich ingredients amazing, but the bread is just to die for. So good! I wore my Smiths band shirt today. Imagine while we're eating three Smith songs came on in the restaurant. So, obviously, on my first visit I had to order the Cortina's Special which is a cold Italian sandwich. I was a bit disappointed that the bread didn't have the crunchy outside and slight chewiness inside as I expected. Another friend in our group of 4 at this lunch also concurred as he also had the same sandwich. But more disappointingly is that the sandwich is just so-so, nothing really stand out. In fact, I even had to go to the counter and asked for more Italian dressing to amp up the flavors. I've been coming here for over a decade so why the eff am i barely doing this long over due review, because I just love to eat and writing a review takes too damn long and too much effort. Honestly I've tried their Philly cheese, meatball sub, roast beef dip, sausage, I think all their hot sandwiches but hands down my favorite is the Rocky Balboa! For over a decade I've been eating the rocky balboa and dipping it in the au jus and it hasn't changed one bit. It's still a 5/5 amazing and hits the spot. Their bread is just outta this world perfect: fresh, crisp, chewy perfect for a a hot sandwhich that's gonna be dunked in au jus cuz this bread doesn't sog up and flop. The pork is succulent, the broccoli rab is perfectly cooked still holds a crisp and not soggy at all, the provolone adds a nice ooweegooeiness. They got some garlic and red pepper flakes to kick up the flavor. And all that happens from the first bite to the last bite. Au Jus doesn't have to be there cuz it's already juicy but if you want some extra juiciness don't stop dipping, the jus is amazing! New York has Katz and Los Angeles has Philippe's/Langers/etc and representing Orange county is Cortina's solid 4.5 but I'm rounding up cuz they are consistent with flavor, quality, and serving size. read more

Italian sandwiches close to work?? Dangerous. Lol but just tried Cortina's for the first time after a coworker said he's been going there since high school. Now these weren't the same kind sandwiches I had in Italy (I'd say the main difference was the bread - they use more baguette style loaves), but they were so good. I tried the caprese and Rocky Balboa - these 10 inch sandwiches are huge, only half is plenty for me for lunch. The caprese was amazing, the pesto mayo is really what sold me. The Rocky was good as well, never heard of broccolini in a sandwich! The pork was a little fatty for me so it was a heavier sandwich to eat for lunch but to each their own. My only complaint is the price - we ordered on Yelp and each sandwich came out to about $20 after tax and tip which is kinda absurd to me. Regardless, Cortina's definitely knows how to make a good sandwich and the work crew will be getting lunch from here in the near future. We were all very satisfied with our meal. Yeah, it's a great sandwich. It's been years since I've been to Cortina's. I've only visited the Anaheim location, but Orange is less chaotic and we were feeling like sandwiches today so we went for it. 1130 is still a solid time to visit. The food arrived quickly and we were able to find seating without an issue. The sandwiches prices have definitely gone up, but they are pretty large so it you at least get a very full meal out of them. No major complaints from the table. Overall, all the food was enjoyed. I probably have the biggest gripe-I was the only one that got a hot sandwich, the chicken marinara, and my biggest issue is that it was at best lukewarm so the temperature was just not right. Cheese wasn't melted enough. It could've used some extra time warming it up however they do it. This is not the type of sandwich you want to eat at room temperature. It still tasted good and the bread is fantastic. Now that I returned, I want to run through the menu some more and knock out some other items. But let's be honest, the real reason I'll be coming back is because of the black cherry soda, which is delicious. If you've been there, you know. Most of people seem to get it. Friends have been recommending Cortina's for years. It's in an industrial section of Orange (just off Katella). The sandwich & other food options are wide and the buns are excellent with a soft inside and crispy outside. As you can see by the menu pics I've posted, they have such a great selection. The prices are fair - the 6" sandwich is actually very filling - even for me. If I buy the 12", I'd be bringing most of the extra home. Service was great. Very fast. Very friendly. They get real busy as you get closer to lunch, but the staff does a great job keeping up with crowds. The ambience is fun. Casual and a great place to meet up with friends. They have an outdoor patio facing the street which is comfy for those who prefer the open atmosphere. I had the pastrami sandwich and while the meat was trimmed well and very juicy, I'm not a fan compared to the taste of a few other places. But I was not unhappy. It was still good. This place is nestled in the business area of Orange right in front of a Boars Head Provisions warehouse. They sell deli sandwiches that are served up in their delicious bread. I got the sausage and peppers sandwich and bottled Coke. It was a good amount of sandwich for a 6" and it was tasty reminding me of basically of marinara sandwich. It was good not spectacular, but good. I would like to try more. I also ordered some potato salad that was just average and some potato chips. Service was order at the counter and be given a number and get your food at your table routine. There was a small say 10-20 people capacity inside dining and maybe another 10-20 more outside patio dining. Verdict - I'd wanna like this but I feel it could be a notch better. I've been to the Anaheim location dozens of times, but today was closer to Orange, so I decided to come here. Same sandwiches, same prices. I went with a Large Cortinas Special. This place was busy! Took a little while for the sandwich to come out. Took it to go and ate it at home. How was it? Bomb! Cortinas Special- This is their cold cut sub. So delicious. All fresh ingredients on freshly baked bread. Damn fine sandwich...one of the best you can get in CA, and definitely the best you can get in Orange County.
