I have lived near this place for over 15 years and only just started going there a couple months ago. Food is good, cheap and plentiful. The barbecue sandwiches are average. Service is always pleasant, the staff are always polite and friendly. I've heard the chili cheeseburgers are good, and I love chili cheese burgers, so I'll try that next time and come revisit my review. read more

This is a great place to eat! I have been here twice and both times were great. When I walked in I felt welcomed from all of the employs and it was pretty busy in there. All of the cooks and other workers were working hard and seemed like they cared about costumer's. The place its self was also welcoming it is homey and country. The food was wonderful! Little dumpy BBQ place, the best kind. Wait in line to get your food, but quick service and good prices. The pulled pork was very good, and their sauce is delicious. The stew was a bit odd looking, but tasted great. All in all, if you are riding by, stop and grab a meal, you will like it. read more

Was not good barbecue. Barbecue sauce is mostly ketchup and the meat didn't even taste smoked. Probably better for burgers and hotdogs than for barbecue food. read more

Everything you hope to find in a road side 'greasy-spoon' with incredible fare! The Brunswick stew is made from scratch, pulled pork BBQ is inside meat and melt-in-yo-mouth tender. Also tried the chili-burger and it was better than anything you find at the Varsity! You know the place is good when their slogan is "no phone, no sign, open at 11, closed at 9." By 11:45 on a Friday the place was brimming with diners, including the local law enforcement. Country music blaring on the radio was authentic. The restroom is outside (50 yr old bldg) but spotlessly clean. We'll definitely be back when we're in Paulding Co. read more

The Hickory Hut has been my family's go-to BBQ place for DECADES. Everything is fresh and fantastic. The BBQ is always perfect and it's carefully chopped smoked meat, super moist, and no extra fat. The Brunswick stew is fantastic. The food has been delicious and the service has been excellent and consistent for as long as I can remember. I don't know what all the hype is about. I wasn't all that impressed. Ordered the hickory salad. My husband ordered chili burger. The chili burger was good. The Hickory salad however was the driest pork I have ever put in my mouth. The barbecue sauce is awful and a sweet tea is so sweet if you drink too much of it you will die of diabetes. Now I'm a Southern girl born and raised in Georgia. My home cooked BBQ is way better than that and the sweet tea is just sugar and water. Not be back for a burger if I'm in a hurry but I will never eat their barbecue again. But the service is fast and friendly and that's where they got three stars. read more

This place is not what it used to be. The food is still good, at least! Hence the two star rating. In the past everyone was greeted warmly and made to feel like family. The staff today gave the impression they would just as soon we weren't there. We were never welcomed, no thanks or smiles were given even though we tried to engage them. This is a great place to eat! There isn't much bad that you could say about it. The smell of good BBQ hits you before you even get out of the car. The atmosphere is what you would imagine in a little tiny mom and pop joint. The service is friendly and the prices are great. I highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

I've been going here since I first moved to the area 30 years ago. The BBQ is standard Georgia style BBQ, not very much, if any, smoke flavor in the meat. This seems to be a universal style in Georgia for some reason. Why go to the trouble of cooking over wood if you aren't going to let the smoke flavor permeate the meat? Still, this is serviceable BBQ if you order it sliced or pulled. The sauce is abominable, I take my own with me. Their hot dogs are a style unto their own. Served on what seems to be a row of those small, sweet, dinner rolls, with a seasoned, watery, hamburger meat sauce. It sounds bad, but they are surprisingly good! Try one! The building is in a sort of depressed area and is kind of run down looking, but it is absolutely safe to go in there. Just salt of the earth type people there. read more

this is a Really great HOLE in the wall type of BBQ place. Food is really good. We love to go here. Clean place. Staff is always really nice. Prices are excellent as well, generous portions. The food was ok, but I have had better BBQ elsewhere. The pork was smothered with too much sauce, and it had too much tomato. The same was true for the Brunswick stew... it just tasted like tomatoes. You did get a lot of food for the price which was very reasonable. Based on the constant flow of customers, this place is very popular but it wasn't my cup of tea. read more

Just ok BBQ. I had the pork plate. Meat was ok, but the sauce was average at best (I'm being nice there) and way, way, way too much of it on the meat. Best to get it on the side or better yet - get it plain and bring your own sauce. Didn't care for the slaw at all. The stew was fair. I love their bar-b-que sandwich. I'm 59 years old and i've been eating here since i was 9 years old. Small inside, w/ booths, so it will not do for a large group of people. But if you eat there you'll love their food and you can order for a large gathering you may be having elsewhere (the park or at home) and pick it up , take it with you. I love to take my grandchildren there. They love the bar-b-que sandwiches and fries. There is tables outside and kids love to eat outside. It's fun. So take your kids. Sometimes when it's not real busy, they can eat at their own booth inside -mine does. The adults get a booth and the kids get a booth. They enjoy that. All there food is great. The BBQ plate is almost more than I can hold. The succulent pork with their homemade sauce is to die for, as is the Brunswick stew. They give you a hearty serving of steak fries, along with a steamed bun to boot. My wife and I drive past three BBQ restaurants on our 11-mile one-way track to get to this one. I had eaten lunch here a couple days ago, which was good. But, when I went to wash my hands in the outside bathroom, there was no running water in the bathroom! It says "employees wash hands", but there is NO water!!! yuck! I won't go back because of this. read more
