Pretty good coffee. The cappuccino was on point. The ube latte was decent, but not as ube-y. Same with the matcha latte. Probably the most solid coffee in this side of town, and went back multiple times. Think I'd stick to the classics. HOLYYYY SHiiii!! This place is more than just a coffee shop! Their Açaí bowls were fire! I got the almond bowl. We ended up giving their food items a try and honestly I was pleasantly surprised with the Ham and cheese croissant - they snuck a hash brown in there and OMG! That just changed the game! Nice specialty coffees. A great twist in there latte. Like the ube latte or ube coffee cake which was delicious. It was dense and not spongy like most coffee cake but it was great tasting. I loved the Christmas decorations inside! A little disappointed our sandwiches didn't come out with any eggs on them. (Ordered the hashbrown/bacon croissant and 2 everything bagels. ) You may be wondering why I didn't just go back and order the eggs. Well a few reasons -- One being the line was long at this point, also earlier we sat through an entire time share presentation at our hotel and didn't eat ALL morning -- we were starving !! The coffee and service here are really good! I enjoyed my Kona coffee a lot. It was smooth and delicious just like I was hoping. I'm also glad they served it in a reusable mug. The service and overall vibe in the shop was friendly. They were also playing some Hawaiian themed music which was nice. I was indifferent to the açaí bowl. It was ok overall. My iced ube latte tastes like milk, not even sweet milk. Just milk. I do love their salmon lox toast, I appreciate that they have an option to half it. But I definitely recommend other coffee places if you are looking for amazing coffee, the island is known for its coffee so please don't waste your money on one just because it's 'pretty'. read more

As we are not native to Hawaii, it was nice for the cashier to explain few of their drinks. The shop offers a variety of coffee, smoothies, açaí bowls and food items. They sell logo merchandise, coffee and matcha. I settled on a 16oz Iced Jaboticaba Matcha White Mocha with coconut Milk, avocado toast and 12oz cup of Kombucha. We loved both drinks and avo toast. The avocado toast was sourdough bread, avocado smash, tomatoes, mixed greens, feta cheese and furikake. YAS, it as good as it sounds. My mom had the locally made kombucha with local honey from Wai Meli Honey. My drink was heavenly, with fruity, creamy, sweet blend. This HiCo location is extremely convenient if you're staying in the Waikoloa. The HiCo Organic Acai Smoothie Bowl was refreshing -- fruits were fresh, texture of the acai was more of a smoothie than a sorbet (which was just right), and the granola was good. We also got an iced americano, which was pretty big for it's price. Vibe: The cafe is spacious and there was a guitarist outside singing and playing music, which made for a relaxing atmosphere. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. They sell merch inside the cafe and there are restrooms outside in the shopping center. The service was good and quick. This location is also quieter than the other locations and make it a great place to co-work or remote work. 10/10 They have a variety of baked goods and tasty food options. My boyfriend and I wanted to grab some brunch before lightly exploring Big Island for our 1st Day. HiCO was recommended when I was planning our itinerary, and it did not disappoint. We ordered: Smoked Ahi Toast - we ordered 1 toast (since they charge either 1/2 slices of bread) and it was just enough for 2 people to share. The color of the toast was so vibrant and refreshing, and it tasted amazing. The flavors complimented so well together. It was like a deconstructed sushi in a sense. My boyfriend is usually hesitant about trying new things, but he was really surprised at how good it was. They had Hawaiian Hot Sauce, so we tried that over Cholula (since we already had that in California). It was a good combo, but the hot sauce could use more of a kick. I would recommend and get this again, it was their popular item as well. Hashbrown & Bacon - we also ordered something very basic, but I also added turkey for some protein. This bagel was generously stuffed and it tasted ahmazing. You could pick between a bagel/croissant for your sandwich as well. This was great to share amongst the 2 of us. I would like to try their other starred items next time. Enjoy the pictures, hope it entices you to order them! For coffees, we ordered an Ube Latte which was okay, the shot pulled seemed to give the espresso a bit of sour taste per my boyfriend since he didn't enjoy his drink much. This was not an easy review to write because, as you can tell from my history, I'm basically Yelp's Mother Teresa. I hand out five-star reviews like Oprah handing out cars: you get a star, you get a star, everybody gets a star! If I don't like a place, I usually just ghost it like a bad Tinder date. But this time? No. This is serious. Before moving from Waikīkī to the Big Island, my partner and I had visited a café in this exact spot (different name, different owners), and it was chef's kiss. So naturally, when we came back today, we were ready for magic. The vibes were on point, cozy inside, breezy outside, staff friendlier than your neighbor who owns a leaf blower. We thought: This is it. Today's gonna be one of those breakfasts you remember forever. The coffee? Incredible. My partner ordered a hazelnut latte, I got a 100% Kona iced latte with mac nut milk and syrup, basically a liquid vacation. I took one sip and thought, Oh great, cancel my mail, bury me here, this is home. We were even extra excited because we'd brought along Crevice: A Life Between Worlds, just published by our friend Anna Redsand. The plan was perfect: great coffee, tasty breakfast, and cracking open a new book we couldn't wait to read. And then...the sandwiches arrived. Bacon, egg, and cheese croissants. Simple, classic, safe. Except the croissants tasted like they were smuggled out of the Safeway freezer section under someone's armpit. Not bad exactly, just aggressively average. But hey, fine. We ate them. Cut to a couple hours later: nausea, headaches, full-body regret. My partner and I went from "What a beautiful island morning" to "Who will feed our cats when we're dead?" in record time, before remembering, oh right, we don't even have cats. To be clear, we never actually puked or hallucinated about owning pets. It just felt that awful. The kind of sick where you lie on the couch making vague promises to the universe in exchange for survival...while glaring at the book you were supposed to be enjoying and thinking, sorry Anna, today your words must wait until the Croissant War has ended. So yeah. Instead of a chill Sunday, we got a 12-hour misery marathon sponsored by Bacon Egg & Cheese Croissant™. Was it expired ingredients? Was the kitchen hygiene a game of Russian roulette? Who knows. All I know is we'll never be back, at least not until we're certain the croissants are less biohazard and more breakfast. Two stars only because the coffee was so good it deserved its own parade. Otherwise: RIP our stomachs (and our imaginary cats, and our reading plans). We were visiting Hilo side for the weekend, but drove all the way to Waikoloa on our last day because I really wanted to check out their drinks-- honestly BOMB!! I got 2 drinks for myself because their drink menu was soo cool. I tried the jabotica white mocha or something, and the ube matcha. This location is easy to find with a lot of parking, this is the third HiCo on the island. They have an inside outside concept here. The location is nice, bright and open. The employees are very welcoming and they have a lot of seating for eating and remote working. They have açaí bowls, bagels, toast and pastries. I love their matcha with ube foam and their coffee is delicious as well. The coffee here is amazing! I spent a week driving all over the island and HICO was top 2 coffee for me...and I tried a LOT of coffee places. I really enjoyed the Ube Foamed Cold Brew. It was really bomb. And I really love haupia, so I tried the haupia flavored cold brew. It was good, but I think I liked the ube better. I also enjoyed the parking lot chickens just casually walking inside the store, eating the crumbs from under the tables. Where else but Hawaii? LOL. read more
