One of my go to places when visiting Ventura County. Used to love to come get my Filipino food fixed with daily specials that included my fav: adobo! Came here on a Sunday morning around 11am. Place was packed but the wait was only 15 mins for a party of two. There is outside seating but we opted for indoors since it looked gloomy outside. I got the fried chicken, fried rice, eggs, and pancake. The fried chicken was pretty good. Not too oily. I actually thought having fried rice for brunch was kinda weird at this kind of establishment but it was actually good. The pancakes were also on point. This island eatery is a hidden gem. Having been in the area for a couple of years I did not know it existed until I was introduced here by my Chamorro friends and I fell in love with the selection of food they serve. Their food reminded me of the food I had grown up with at my native island. Basically anything with fried rice, sausage and sunny side eggs for breakfast reminds me of childhood memories. Their other types of food are delicious as well. I have not had one that I regret ordering. The staff is great and helpful and the owner is friendly whom from time to time will stop at your table and try to converse with you. Overall, I highly recommend this place especially if you are craving some island food. This place is a true hidden gem! read more

We finally made it to this cafe after many recommendations from old high school classmates (Channel Islands High - Go RAIDERS!) Well, the recommendations DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Many great options! This place was ok and the food was good but not great. The flow was terrible. I was in a party of 4 that got seated together with a party of like 15+ out on the patio while the inside of the restaurant was basically empty. Waited a bit for our order to be taken since it seemed like only one waitress was working both patios. The waitress you could tell was working really hard while receiving no help at all from any of the other staff. All orders were taken together with my party last. Naturally that backs up the kitchen resulting in 45+ wait for small portions and ok food. What was really terrible about this place was the manager or owner. While the waitress was refilling our coffee the owner/manager yelled at her "get inside you have more tables". As I thanked the waitress the manager literally talked over me and almost grabbed the poor girl said to her "didn't you hear me??" That's not how you treat people. As we were boxing our food we hear her say "finally". Excuse me? We got up to go as the manager/owner said to the waitress "you have another two 8 tops coming in". Service--I have never had such a wonderful dining experience like the one I had at this lovely little cafe. Servers were friendly and helpful, and they welcome dogs! When I arrived they immediately offered to bring my pup a water bowl. They also offered some coffee for the road! Note: between 3-4 stars. To be reassessed. Came for a brunch with a large group (11) and made a reservation. We sat in the 'outdoor' porch that is covered nicely to keep most of the heat out. They were very kind to not rush us on the reservation (luckily) and can provide high chairs as well as lay-aways for any babies in strollers. They provided kiddie menus and spoons for the babies and were very courteous in their service. In total, my group of three had a short stack with chocolate chip add-ons (3 pancakes), loco moco with fried rice (not deluxe), eggs benedict with fruit on the side, and a side order of chicken (4 pieces). Totally thought it would be a lot of food, but we surprisingly finished everything with a little wiggle room to spare. To begin, the pancakes aren't bad. Not overly thick or thin and fluffy middles. The chocolate add-ons are a bit excessive, but the group wanted them with chocolate chips. Not bad pancakes and close to being the better/best I've had before actually. The loco moco was the most disappointing item. My date have had the loco moco before there and said she enjoyed it. Getting it again, the burger patty was grilled/charred too much that it gave off bitter and burnt tastes, which affected the entire dish. The patty was severely overcooked and the egg on top (asked over easy) came out between over-medium to fully cooked. The fried rice was basic in my opinion and the gravy is very light and bland-ish tasting, but that might be affected by the burnt patties. In addition, the quantity of fried rice was surprisingly very little. My date said it's a lot smaller than she recalled. Next, the eggs benedict. Nicely made poached eggs with runny centers, but the hollandaise sauce is visibly grainy and very runny (overcooked egg yolks). The sauce didn't taste terrible at least. The ham used was browned both sides, but the muffin used didn't taste and appear to be toasted. The side of fruits is normal and a good amount is provided. The big winner of the items is the chicken pieces. Four pieces were provided: breast, thigh, drumstick, and wing. Each one was fried nicely to obtain a crispy outer skin, but not overcooked as the chicken was still moist and tender. Even the chicken breast piece was still moist and tender and not dried out. Personal preference, a little bit more salt to accentuate the chicken flavors, but the way it was already deserve my praises. If anything, I wouldn't mind ordering the chicken and waffle item (someone else did). The waffle is huge and very thick. Overall, I wouldn't mind giving them another try for other items or to come back for their chicken to see if they are consistent. I thought about trying their country hash, but it didn't look that appealing when I saw someone have it. In all, worth a try and don't let the décor throw it off for you. The place seems to have a decent quality and quantity for the price you pay. read more

Were sat in a very uncomfortable and crowded outdoor 'booth' waitress came for our drink order then we were left to wait for over 10ish mins..then yah! my $5.50 latte arrived served in a dbl espresso cup?! My daughters milk for her tea Never arrived and another 10+ mins later my hubby went into the restaurant to get it, then we were asked if we'd like anything else while Still awaiting our breakfasts, and i asked if i could 'share' my husbands coffee refills in my long ago empty latte -remember $5.50 served in the dbl espresso cup- and the waitress says, 'So add another coffee to the bill?' LOL?! WtF? Im like "Noooo thats ok...?!" Then i just grabbed my hubbys newly poured coffee and dumped it into my cup... Really?!! I dont think it was 'unreasonable' to expect some 'FREE' brewed coffee?!! We've already been waiting for our breakfasts FOREVER! Was charged $6 for an orange juice that I at least thought was going to be freshly squeezed or at least better tasting than the Minute Maid powdered orange juice I was served. The host and servers are not the friendliest I don't want to conclude that it was because of our race but they sure made it feel like it. They took a very long time to bring our drinks, they brought them after we got our food and they took a very long time to bring the food out. Definitely don't recommend. Got a chance to go into hidden cafe today. We have missed this place so much! We did order out a couple of times and it was great as usual, but we really missed the love we feel every time we go there. We were greeted with enthusiasm and excitement. This nice little Cafe has really friendly staff who make some of the best food. I heard their cinnamon rolls are amazing, so I had to try one. And let me tell you, it was THE MOST DELICIOUS CINNAMON ROLL I'VE EVER HAD - Texas style big enough for two people to share too. I have to mention our server, Chriistine, who was so happy to serve us, and you can tell she loves her job here with her big friendly smile. I had the Protein Plate (egg whites and chicken, brown rice and toast) and my daughter had pancakes and eggs, and both dishes were really yummy. Hidden Cafe is truly one of the best breakfast joints in VC, the location is hard to find, it's right in Camarillo springs, I don't mind the drive so I visit as often as I can. Food is great! Very fresh, tasty and the menu has everything you can think of, they make their own corn beef hash. Everything on the menu is great, homemade and Jessie (owner/Chef) makes everything from scratch, pancakes are very fluffy and delicious, I've had their French toast too and they are great as well. Service is always friendly, everyone in that place is family related to the owners, they really make you feel welcome. The place has plenty of parking and they have cute little patio. We stopped here while on a road trip after taking the first exit when our stomachs started grumbling. It was the closest highest rated place that was open. I was a bit perplexed that this highly rated place was in a strip mall. Service was great. We were seated quickly even when the place was pretty crowded. I ordered the seared ahi eggs benedict and my boyfriend ordered the salmon eggs benedict. We both really liked our food.
