Visited Hidden Manna with a party of nine and was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly the seating process went. We used the waitlist option and were seated promptly -- a huge plus when dining with a larger group. The staff was friendly and attentive, and you could tell they were working hard to make sure everyone had a good experience. The atmosphere gives off a warm, family-style vibe -- very laid-back and welcoming. It feels like a local spot where folks gather to enjoy a meal and good company. As for the food, it's advertised as Creole, but it leans more toward traditional soul food. The dishes were edible and satisfying, but not necessarily standout or rave-worthy. Everything we ordered was decent, but we've definitely had more memorable meals elsewhere. Still, it's a solid spot for comfort food if you're in the area. There's parking available, which is always a plus in the south suburbs. Can get crowded and looks like a local favorite--if you consider yourself a foodie that cooks and loves good cooks or from a family of good cooks maybe visited New Orleans on a food tour please lower the expectations and just go eat!! All in all, Hidden Manna is a nice place with great service and a chill atmosphere. While the food didn't blow us away, the hospitality and convenience made for a pleasant outing.

I found out about this place on social media and decided to stop by while I was in the area. There was a minimal wait. You can scan the QR code at the door or near the entrance to add yourself to the waitlist. The food we entered was really good. The waitress was fantastic. She was the only waitress on staff this day and she handled the room with such grace.

I was craving Fish & Grits with homestyle pancakes. I remembered Hidden Manna and realized I haven't been in years. So I went one afternoon and was 100% satisfied! The servicers were friendly and got our orders right. Since it was a weekday it wasn't crowded like the weekends lol. The pancakes were different than I remember, but were delicious like my grandma used to make with buttery fried crispy edges. The fish was clean, tender, crispy and well seasoned. The creamy grits with the spicy cajan gravy couldn't have hit the spot more. I got perch because I don't trust everyone's catfish lol. But next time I'll get the catfish because I trust them now. Best Arnold Palmer too. 10/10 definitely recommend.

Visited the restaurant on a Sunday for brunch with a party of 5. We were greeted and sat right away. This restaurant is on the smaller side but it gives you a hometown feel during your visit which is cozy. All the staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered the seafood omelet that comes with shrimp and crab meat along with grits or hashbrowns and pancakes. The eggs were fluffy and the seafood was cooked well. As a personal preference, I would of preferred a bit more seasoning but it was well executed. The grits were cooked properly and complemented the omelet. The pancakes were a good size and golden brown.

This food was bland but was at a good price point. I wouldn't come back here. Our service was pretty good too! Loved the mimosas but the food missed the mark

This place is a great little gem. I was here last weekend for a funeral. My cousin picked this place when I said I was some shrimp and grits. Their shrimp and grits were very good with some spice. We had fried green tomatoes with a remoulade sauce. I loved my lunch. A few other meals were a shrimp omelette with hollandaise sauce, and a traditional breakfast. We had mimosas, we ordered a bottle with cranberry & orange juice. The waitress staff & hostess were so nice and polite. The waitress had 4 different tables by us but you wouldn't known it cuz she catered to everyone. I will be back when I go back to visit my old home town.

    Do they take reservations?

I love me some Hidden Manna Café, I had my birthday brunch there last year in July. It is a front runner for this year for my birthday dinner. I remember seeing a bar there do you serve drinks also?

    Yes they do!

To be clear, the food is still great and the cooks continue to do an amazing job. The issue lately has been the service and overall experience, which unfortunately hasn't been the same over the last couple of months. The only consistency on the service side has been the Hispanic gentleman shucking the oysters ,he's always friendly, hardworking, and deserves recognition. I'm hoping things can get back to the way they used to be because this really was one of our favorite places.

The fried chicken wings were also delicious: crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Our servers, Jordan and Ashton, were spot on the entire time -- timely, professional, polite, and accommodating given the circumstances. Now for the rest. The brunch menu and pricing were a bit ridiculous. When our group first arrived, we were told there were no fried options available, yet later during the meal we noticed other tables receiving fried food -- which is ultimately how we ended up getting the chicken wings ourselves. The food came out sporadically, and some people in our party never even received what they ordered. The restaurant was not particularly busy, so it honestly felt more like poor execution than being overwhelmed. The music was nice in the background, and the drinks were great, but overall the experience was disappointing -- especially for a table celebrating three generations of mothers on Mother's Day. When we addressed the issues, the restaurant manager, Rashaun, seemed more inconvenienced than concerned. Meanwhile, we watched him moving around the restaurant the entire time while our table continued having a poor experience. Definitely expected much better.

They were highly attentive and responded to all of our needs quickly and happily in a very friendly, courteous way, Daisy and her team of bus support were unbelievably attentive. If you go on a day that she is there, ask to be seated in her section. Good service with good food has a tendency to take your experience to atmospheric levels! The bread baskets were filled with rustic Italian bread that was so delicious I thought I was at a trattoria in the rolling hills of Tuscany. Instead of butter, the upscale olive oil dip was very authentic. The menu offers a wide variety of choices for everyone that appeals to carnivores and vegetarians alike. Pastas, beef, pork, lamb and seafood. I asked to substitute one starch for another and the chef made it happen! The food was incredibly fresh. My dining companions has the Maple glazed salmon. The other had the lamb chops. Both raved about the freshness of their meals as well as the perfection to which their dishes were cooked! I had the scallops and substituted the starch with Truffle Fries. The theatrics associated with the presentation of my scallops was breathtaking. It was au flambé! They were so fresh and slightly crusted, i'd never tasted anything that delicious before. Even popular and legendary EAST COAST seafood restaurants could learn a lot about the preparation and presentation of scallops. My meal appropriately mixed textures, tangy tartness and sweetness in the veggie dish consisting of chopped zucchini sweet potatoes and spinach. The way that our meals were plated and presented was sheer "ART," worthy of a museum display. It's a bit pricey, but worth every penny! If I were to recommend an enhancement, I'd recommend some soft background music/jazz or a singer and pianist. It's that type of place. We were celebrating a friend's birthday. The presentation was spectacular! I can't wait to dine al fresco when the weather permits!

I also understand that servers sometimes make assumptions about guests. However, every customer deserves the same level of attention and service, regardless of what a server thinks the tip may be. According to the receipt provided by the manager, I believe our server's name was Jaden. Unfortunately, she never introduced herself and only checked on our table once throughout the meal. Most of the service we received actually came from the manager on duty. I found myself repeatedly getting up to ask for things until I finally asked Jaden, if she was our server. I hoped that would prompt a little more attention to our table, but it didn't. Instead, she remained focused on another table that had arrived before us and was still there after we left. I watched her check on them four or five times while our table was largely ignored. Whether intentionally or not, it certainly felt as though she had decided our table wasn't worth her time. If that was her assumption, then in this particular case she was correct about one thing: my husband and I will not tip for bad service. I have no problem rewarding excellent service, but I also believe tips should reflect the quality of the experience provided. Rather than leaving money for poor service, I chose to give the cash I had to the busboys, who were attentive and helpful throughout the evening. The reason I'm sharing this review is because I don't want one bad experience to overshadow what has otherwise been a good restaurant. I've dined here several times before, live nearby, and have always enjoyed my visits. That's why this experience stood out so much. I'm willing to give the restaurant another chance because I know the level of service they're capable of providing. My hope is that when I return, every guest will receive the same level of attention and hospitality, regardless of assumptions about who they are or what they may tip. Great service should be consistent, and that's what keeps customers coming back. One final thought: tipping culture only works when both sides do their part. GUESTS should recognize and reward good service, and SERVERS should provide quality service to every table. When assumptions are made on either side, EVERYONE loses.
