I found out about this place on social media and decided to stop by while I was in the area. There was a minimal wait. You can scan the QR code at the door or near the entrance to add yourself to the waitlist. The food we entered was really good. The waitress was fantastic. She was the only waitress on staff this day and she handled the room with such grace.

I was craving Fish & Grits with homestyle pancakes. I remembered Hidden Manna and realized I haven't been in years. So I went one afternoon and was 100% satisfied! The servicers were friendly and got our orders right. Since it was a weekday it wasn't crowded like the weekends lol. The pancakes were different than I remember, but were delicious like my grandma used to make with buttery fried crispy edges. The fish was clean, tender, crispy and well seasoned. The creamy grits with the spicy cajan gravy couldn't have hit the spot more. I got perch because I don't trust everyone's catfish lol. But next time I'll get the catfish because I trust them now. Best Arnold Palmer too. 10/10 definitely recommend.

Visited the restaurant on a Sunday for brunch with a party of 5. We were greeted and sat right away. This restaurant is on the smaller side but it gives you a hometown feel during your visit which is cozy. All the staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered the seafood omelet that comes with shrimp and crab meat along with grits or hashbrowns and pancakes. The eggs were fluffy and the seafood was cooked well. As a personal preference, I would of preferred a bit more seasoning but it was well executed. The grits were cooked properly and complemented the omelet. The pancakes were a good size and golden brown.

This food was bland but was at a good price point. I wouldn't come back here. Our service was pretty good too! Loved the mimosas but the food missed the mark

This place is a great little gem. I was here last weekend for a funeral. My cousin picked this place when I said I was some shrimp and grits. Their shrimp and grits were very good with some spice. We had fried green tomatoes with a remoulade sauce. I loved my lunch. A few other meals were a shrimp omelette with hollandaise sauce, and a traditional breakfast. We had mimosas, we ordered a bottle with cranberry & orange juice. The waitress staff & hostess were so nice and polite. The waitress had 4 different tables by us but you wouldn't known it cuz she catered to everyone. I will be back when I go back to visit my old home town.

    Do they take reservations?

I love me some Hidden Manna Café, I had my birthday brunch there last year in July. It is a front runner for this year for my birthday dinner. I remember seeing a bar there do you serve drinks also?

    Yes they do!

My niece and I couldn't believe this was our first visit, especially after hearing so many great things. This place is incredibly popular, so I definitely recommend making reservations. After checking in, we waited less than five minutes and struck up a fun conversation with two lovely ladies who were also first-timers. It was the perfect start to the evening. The atmosphere is warm, lively, and inviting, with Mardi Gras beads and colorful carnival masks throughout the restaurant that give it so much character. Our server was fantastic. Unfortunately, I didn't catch his name, but he was friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. His recommendations made choosing from so many tempting options much easier. Now let's talk about the food... EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious! To kick things off, I ordered the Creole Voodoo Zombie, and my niece had the Hurricane. Both cocktails were fantastic and set the tone for an amazing meal. My niece is an excellent cook herself and has dietary restrictions, so dining out can often be disappointing. That's what made this experience even more special--she genuinely loved every bite. We started with the crab cake appetizer and the BBQ shrimp appetizer, and both were packed with incredible flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the blackened ribeye, swapping the broccolini for the collard greens (worth the $3 upcharge!). The steak was perfectly cooked, and those collard greens were phenomenal. My niece chose the blackened red snapper étouffée, and she couldn't stop raving about it. Even though we were completely full, we couldn't leave without dessert. We shared the Mississippi Mud Turtle Brownie topped with marshmallow fluff and the strawberry shortcake. Our server suggested pairing the brownie with a butterscotch liqueur, and I'm so glad I took his recommendation--it was the perfect finishing touch and complemented the dessert beautifully. We've been talking about this meal ever since we left...and that's probably the biggest compliment I can give. In fact, we were so impressed that we made reservations for next weekend before we even left--and we're bringing two friends with us! Perfect for: Date nights, celebrations, or anytime you want a memorable meal that's worth planning ahead for. Maple Tree Inn absolutely lived up to the hype. 10/10--highly recommend!

Our waitress, Cindy, was polite and attentive. The restaurant is spacious and cozy. We sat in a booth that didn't feel tight. The cushion was also very comfortable. The menu is extensive, and you can order lunch even during the morning hours. I ordered bone-in ham, eggs, hash browns, and toast. Everything was excellent. The portion size is huge too! My sister had the corned beef hash, eggs, and toast. She loved her food as well. My brother had a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich and our godmother had waffles with a side of bacon. My godmother said the bacon wasn't crispy enough for her liking. Overall, we all enjoyed our food immensely. My brother added the grits for $1 to his sandwich. The grits were the only thing that was awful. They had no flavor whatsoever, which was disappointing. My godmother had coffee, waffles, & bacon. She wanted the bacon to be crisper, but other than that she was happy. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. The restaurant was cozy and clean. It was packed but it was still reasonably quiet. It's in Flossmoor, IL. I'm so happy to do this review on them. We went on a Tuesday and although I had in mind what I wanted to order from the regular menu, we arrived while their Happy Hour was still going on so we decided to take advantage of their tacos for Taco Tuesday and their guacamole. The guac and chips came out first. It looked so fresh and when I tasted it, the angels were singing! Delicious. Then came the tacos - I was surprised how big they were, filled up with good stuff. I had the steak and the chicken. Both were good but I liked the steak best. I had had a challenging workday so I treated myself to the Lemondrop Flight as I love lemondrop martinis. You can pick three from the flavors of original, passion fruit, watermelon, mango and strawberry. The presentation is beautiful in what they bring it in. Toya, one of the owners made it herself and she is definitely a good at making drinks. I enjoyed them immensely. This place is a total VIBE - small, intimate and cozy. They play R&B that takes you back to the 80s and 90s - we were thoroughly enjoying it. Many come in and sit at the bar where there are two large screen TVs. They also have a small outdoor seating when the weather is nice. We were really enjoying our time there. We had the best wait staff - Chris was super cool, engaging and just plain nice. He was informing us of all the events they have there which piqued my interest. Toya also came over and talked with us and I complimented her on the restaurant and promised her that I would definitely be back and would bring others. I have already posted about them on social media and many of my friends are planning on seeing what they offer. For dessert, I ordered the Turtle Cheesecake. I'm kind of a cheesecake snob because my late Mother made the best cheesecake. The presentation of their cheesecake was gorgeous. The caramel drizzle and nuts on it was inviting. One bite and I was SOLD! I was too full to eat the entire big slice they gave me so I worked on it some more when I got home. This place opened in 2023. I wish them the best because they definitely have something there. I can't wait to come back there, it's a place to come, relax, eat good food and enjoy the positive environment that there. Check out their weekly events, brunch and live entertainment on Saturdays. Thank you Poppin' Corks, A+!!

She recommended Poppin Corks Bistro. I passed by several time, and being solo, I was looking to get a seat at the bar rather than in the main dining area. There has never been a time that I passed that there was a seat open at the bar, so I sat in the main dining area this one time. I ordered blackened catfish with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. This was a hit. It was full of flavor without going overboard with seasoning. And I appreciate that it was cooked to order. It made up for the cranberry juice being water with a "hint" of cranberry juice, an indication that it probably came from a tap. Service was top and one of the owners made rounds to check on customers. I may stop by again at some point in the future. It would certainly be a welcomed break when I am taking respite from cooking at home.
