From the first interaction with Eli on the phone, we felt welcomed and at ease. We weren't sure if we could find a shop that could accommodate a last minute request on a Sunday night; after reaching out to a few shops we found Eli who gave us time to finishing drawing our design and then come in for our (2) tattoos. When we arrived at the shop we felt welcome by all members of the team and the vibe felt like a safe space for us. Eli gave us a sense of calm, like there was no rush. Eli communicated well about the preparation process, and took our design and made it something even better than we had originally imagined. After we left, we both agreed that both his friendliness and professionalism made the session and interactions all positive. So we came away with, both, tattoos as well as a positive experience and memory. After 25 years of friendship (since junior high) this is our third tattoo together, and it was a single line tattoo of four instruments that Eli, brought to reality in the best way possible. She was fantastic and put a few different of my pictures I had into 1 tattoo/drawing and it came out better than expected. So disappointed!!! I got a tattoo here in July of 2022, everything seemed very legit, typical paperwork etc etc... today, 9 months later i went to donate plasma (for $ to help pay rent) and I was denied because turns out this place's license expired in September of 2021! They are illegally tattooing people... they may have gotten it renewed recently but MY tattoo and others done from sep 2021 - July 2022 were not legal. read more

If Constantine is your artist, leave. I wanted a simple EKG reading and he drew it wrong 5 times. I even drew it for him and gave him reference photos. I am an EKG tech, so it was very important he got this right and I made this very clear, and he still managed to mess it up. At one point he even stopped drawing the 3 beat rhythm we talked about a just drew a dick. I couldn't believe this guy thought that was okay. Watch out for him translating the tattoo incorrectly onto your skin too. The first time he put the transfer ink on me, it was upside down. I asked him to fix it and he did make it right side up, but I didn't realize until after he was done that it was backwards. Honestly this guy made so many mistakes at every turn I have trouble believing it wasn't intentional. I mentioned this to the shop owner Leo who kindly offered to do a coverup for free, but he doesn't give refunds and also defended Constantine's work and I really don't believe it can be defended. This was my first tattoo, which I made very clear to both of them, and it was a horrifying experience. Be careful out there friends. read more

Finding an artist for a last minute booking in the times of COVID proved a little difficult but I'm so glad the universe guided us to Hidden Rose. The shop itself was immaculate and the COVID precautions were both reassuring and not overly intrusive. I loved the whole vibe of the shop, from the art on the walls to the music. Dan was our artist and he was kind, funny, and listened to our ideas and really nailed the art that we asked for. My niece needed a little extra TLC and Dan's entire demeanor and tableside manner was impeccable for the situation. I went to Hidden Rose Tattoo today as a walk in client around 6:00pm. Tattoo artist, Douglas Lamb, greeted me as I walked in. He asked what he could help me with. I told him that I was interested in getting a tattoo on my forearm. I showed him two pictures on my phone and he asked me to send it to the email, hiddenrosepdx@gmail.com. He gave me an iPad to fill out some electronic documents. While I was doing this, he was drawing my tattoo. About 10 minutes later, he showed me my tattoo design. It was better than I expected! As he was tattooing me, he was very easy to talk to, very engaged, welcoming, etc! Took about 20 minutes total (from when I walked in to when he was finished). Such a great price too! This is a newer shop that opened about a month or two ago. I did my research, walked into many shops, called all of them that were in a radius of 10 miles, and this was the best. It was the best in terms of cleanliness, artwork, and overall just positive vibes. I'm no stranger to tattoos, but regardless this shop made me feel secure in my choices. As an out of towner, Leo made me feel confident about what he was putting on me. I fumbled around with no direct idea, as I just wanted a keepsake from my time in Portland. This shop specializes in black and grey, color, and traditional (American). I even saw a good amount of different script work. It took me a long time to pick what I wanted and Leo was so patient and helpful. He gave me amazing advice on placement and gave me a lot of options on what I wanted. Don't waste your time getting into other shops. This shop charges on size, then to hourly. For future appointments, the deposit is $50. I had been here twice before and gotten excellent tats by both Leo and Todd. Then I went in the third time...I made my appointment in person and told Leo exactly what size I wanted it and he agreed, on the day of my appt he told me he just couldn't make it work that small & it needed to be 3× bigger than I wanted. Because I have 2 different medical conditions that at times can impair my cognitive abilities & decision making I just accepted it. Also this was to be my 4th tat so I really don't know that much about it but I found out later from other artists that he totally lied! Then I specifically told him to tilt Betty Boops head so she didn't look like she was being choked out by the anchor she was sitting on & he didn't, he also didn't put a line in her mouth so it looks like a tongue therefore furthering the image of her being choked out. He also colored part of her outfit wrong. Just like another person said on here - I totally think he did it all on purpose. When I called to talk to him about this I was totally chill & he was completely combative but did say he could fix the shade of the outfit. I couldn't make my appt for that because I had covid and he never responded to reschedule. Now I am stuck with a HUGE tattoo that he f*cked up, didn't give a sh*t and couldn't be bothered to reschedule or even offer money back ect. They are all rude, except the receptionist, there's an air of " we're so much f*cking cooler than you" in there. Just look at the complaints here - one of their staff has hit " thinks it's funny" on all. They are careless with people's body art something that one should NEVER be careless about and they charge too much. Basically liars, thieves and snobs. Additionally, I went back and saw Leo Darlin a week later to get a 2nd piece because I had so much trust in him and their team! I wanted to get a tattoo recently and really had my mind set on a few words placed in a specific spot on my arm. It was for me to see on my arm, more personal than for others. I went to a different shop in NW and it was horrible; guy didn't want to shake my hand, place was a sauna, and the artist instantly wanted me to move my tattoo so that "it was easier for people to see". Keep in mind this is not a huge nature scene on my ribs or something crazy (Leo knocked it out in 20 minutes)... So I figured I'd try one more spot in NW that took walk-ins before giving up... AND TO MY DELIGHT I found Hidden Rose. From the moment they answered my call, I knew it was where I was going to go. The young lady who answered the phone was polite, helpful, and professional. She put me on the list and let me know the cross streets to walk right over. Once I was there Leo was as helpful as you could ask for in an artist; polite, respectful of my design, location (even moved the outline twice to make sure I was 100% happy with it), and was able to make me feel at home while getting something permanently put on my body. Leo is the man - talk about professionalism and understanding his industry and business. In addition he did not have a heavy hand and the tattoo was very minimal when it came to pain (my previous tattoo was done by a very heavy handed artist...). I cannot say enough about Leo and the staff there; all the staff members acknowledged me and were polite, the shop is conveniently located, the shop is very clean, they are very reasonably priced, take cash and card,... list goes one; this spot exceeded my expectations.
