There were no customers, just the two guys that worked there. They were bullshitting in the back, talking and catching up while we sat waiting. Then when the guy, David, finally brought my daughter back @910....he told me that he no longer had time to get to me because he had to lock up by 10pm. He repositioned my daughters tattoo twice and then just stopped responding to her at all. He never checked in to see if she needed a break or to ask how she was doing. He was a complete dick. Her tattoos look like they are ten years old at two weeks. We took her to another shop to just talk to someone about how they were looking and they said whoever did it went way to deep and she would be lucky if they healed better than they are currently looking. Completely shitty experience with a guy that I would never recommend to anyone. The shop itself seems ok. Clean. Well put together. I went to Ever True to get my tattoos two days later. I was seated in the waiting room for 5 minutes before I was on the table. Out the door within an hour, with the cleanest lined tattoos and a sweetheart of an artist. He will definitely be my go to from now on. I paid the same price that the other shop was charging and a way better experience. I would give David at Grizzly 0 stars if it was possible. It was a trash experience.

(Cleanliness/procedure for example) I wasn't really sure what to expect. It's really just regular tattoo shop but with less big ego. Refreshing. I got a great new piece here from Dereck. I'm very pleased. He was very precise & made sure I was good with every step. Of course things move a little slower, just plan for that. There were instructors observing and available if needed. I was sent to Ms. Mikki at Fortune Tattoo by a good friend, whose judgment I trust. I came in with…read moresort of a vague idea of how to commemorate my cat on my arm, sending Mikki a short description and an image off the Internet. After a quick consult and more emails exchanged - Mikki was very responsive, and it was lots of fun to bounce ideas around - I went in for the first tattoo session a month later to watch her create a half sleeve with my cat as Legolas from the Lord of the Rings. You may notice that this is a somewhat nerdy idea, which perhaps some would scoff at. Not so Mikki. She got it immediately, and when I came in what she had drawn up exceeded my highest expectations. During the session, I discovered that Mikki is not only absolutely meticulous, clean, and well-prepared, she also has a light touch (which is good because I can be a bit of a wimp). In addition, Mikki is a very kind, interesting, and spiritual human being, which made talking to her a true joy. I felt all around well taken care of and was beyond excited about the process. In the upcoming sessions, she finished the colors on my tattoo, and while it took a bit of a leap of trust to let her choose them, I do not regret it. The shading is amazing, and the kitty really looks like my cat! She also was able to incorporate little requests I made easily if they made sense and was very kind in explaining when she thought something wouldn't work. I knew I could trust her, and I'm happy that I did. Spoiler alert: The finished tattoo is fantastic. Every time I look at it, I'm beyond happy with it, and even my mom (who does not like this whole tattoo thing) had to grudgingly admit that it is "impressive" and "beautiful". In a nutshell, my experience at Fortune Tattoo was all around in every way wonderful. So much so that I intend to come back for a tattoo of my second cat done in the same style on the other arm. And then Max was awesome with my kids asking them what they want their annual tattoo to be. My daughter wanted to watch the entire process (she's 11 1/2,) and she was intrigued. Max tolerated ALL of her questions and all of her talking. My son was very direct and asked for his specific star and didn't want to watch or comment. He ended up talking to Max's wife about Pokemon. I have said that Max is my guy as long as he'll have me and as long as he stays in Portland!

One was done back in 2017 and still looks amazing, no touch-ups needed, which says a lot about his work. He's great at taking your idea and giving honest, helpful feedback to make it even better. Two of my tattoos were fairly standard, and he totally nailed them. The one we're working on now is something I came up with, and we built it from the ground up together. It's a little different than what he usually does, but he's been totally open to it, had great ideas, and has been awesome to work with throughout the process. He's always on time, prepared, thoughtful, detail-oriented, and just really solid to work with. Honest and fair too. I truly can't recommend him enough.
