We visited Hideaways during our visit to the north shore. On arrival the chef (owner?) immediately let us know that they were backed up due to a huge amount of to-go orders. They were also staffed with just the chef and our intrepid waiter, Daniel (an island boy with a Polish accent - wild). A few points on this: (1) this is an island. Shit like this happens. It's no big deal because they serve beer and the beer took no time at all. (2) both the chef and Daniel busted their butts to get us served appropriately and were nothing but hospitable. While there was a wait, we had beer and wings and conversation, which was great, and when the pizza did come it was great. You should definitely give this place a go and support a local business. read more

The pizza was fabulous. We ordered the Kona (ham, sausage, pepperoni, bell pepper, black olive & mushroom). The crumb of the crust was perfectly chewy & the bottom was crispy the way only a brick oven can do. Cherry on top, the salad was fresh and all of their dressings are made in house. This place is going downhill. We were craving dessert while out on a date in Princeville, checked the menu, and it looked like they had a variety of things. Well we didn't realized that the menu was a few years old and now their dessert options are extremely limited with only a lava cake. We had a hard time finding the place since it is located within the Pale Ke Kua resort complex, and there is no dedicated parking. We saw a few people who got their pizzas to go and they warned us about the long wait times for the to go pizza orders. There are not too many pizza places nearby (they are the only place on Ka Haku Rd) unless you are driving to Kilauea or Hanalei and I think it shows. When we stepped inside, the place seemed dark and maybe, only maybe, because it was so dark, kinda old and dated. This is a shame since this place was more popping in the past (as evidenced by the more extensive dessert menu previously). read more

Visited Hideaways tonight as we are staying at the Westin just down the street. Ordered ahead online and pizza was ready when promised. It is a Hideaway, took a minute to find it HaHa! Staff was very friendly and the pizzas were delicious! We ordered a cheese pizza for the kids and they loved it. We tried The Rooster for the adults. The flavor and crust were amazing! The mozzarella sticks with ranch are also another winner! Don't miss out on this gem when you are visiting the North Shore. Wish we would have taken pics before we devoured it! My husband and I ordered a pepperoni pizza to be picked up. The vibes inside were cute, but there were a few uncleared tables. We were greeted by the bartender after standing around awkwardly for a few minutes. He took his time but got us our order. Honestly the service was underwhelming, but I REALLY enjoyed the pizza. We ordered the Kona and a bottle of Chianti- the crust was amazing, best I've had since Naples Italy. It had a nice crunch and was done perfectly. I could have used more of their homemade sauce. But- it did not take away from it much. Waiter was so attentive and accommodated any special requests we had, ie: extra salad dressing, no cheese on half etc. I would've added a pic, but we scarfed it down after a day at the beach. Sadly these guys have been understaffed for years. Maybe under financed too? as they had no champagne and no white wine to sell us when we arrived at 6pm/dinner time! The restaurant was fairly empty and the pizza actually came out quickly and was quite good. Crust would have benefited from some spices but the toppings were perfect. First night in Hawaii, only place that was open nearby our air bnb. We were greeted in a timely manner and we were definitely advised that it may take up to an hour or more, it was busy and they seemed a bit understaffed. No problem, i was accompanied with a patient bunch. If long wait times is a norm in this restaurant, i recommend anyone whose patience is not their virtue to stray away. Other than that, for me, the wait was well worth it. I really enjoyed the Pizza. We ordered Hawaiian pizza and Pepperoni. It was so good, we came a second time during our stay. Reading the reviews made me sad. This place is great. Went 2 years ago and just went again yesterday and it was amazing both times. The server we had was fun, friendly, and professional. Made it a very personal and enjoyable experience. All the servers we have had make the experience so much better. We ordered wings and pizza. The wings were not done with raw meat next to the bone. Our margarita pizza was supposed to be Neapolitan but the crust was very thick. It was also very bland. When we asked for a side of marinara we were brought a small cup of ice-cold sauce. When we asked the waiter to ask if it could be warmed up he brought it back cold and said the owner/cook said he would get to it when he could. This restaurant is a gem! The service was friendly and the view was excellent. Although the entire island is short staffed this summer, our server was friendly and attentive although she was running! The crust was perfectly cooked - not burned in the bottom or soggy - pizza perfection! I also had the beet salad and oh my gosh it was heavenly! One star, and that's only because zero isn't an option. We placed our order online at 7:15 PM and were told it would be ready by 8:15 PM. Fair enough. We arrived right on time, only to end up waiting an additional 30 minutes inside the restaurant. On top of that, at least 10 other equally frustrated customers were waiting for pick up as the staff scrambled to keep up with what seemed like a completely mismanaged kitchen. If you're going to offer specific pickup times, maybe start by trying to honor one of them. The place clearly has no system in place to manage online orders or communication in general. Save your time, save your money, and absolutely save your appetite. After that extended wait, we FINALLY got our food and somehow, that part was even worse than the delay. We ordered a house salad with Caesar dressing and got a sad, wilted pile of greens that looked like it had been sitting out since lunch. Honestly, it had the texture of regret. The croutons were the only thing with a pulse. Then came the cheese bread, which was supposed to include marinara sauce. Not only was there no marinara to be found, but we received a sad-looking box of greasy bread, hacked into random pieces like someone had a personal vendetta against presentation. Some pieces were barely separated, some were half-burned, and all of them screamed "we gave up." As for the buffalo wings? What we got were dry, heavily breaded wings with NO buffalo sauce and a sad cup of ranch tossed in like a consolation prize. If I wanted plain fried chicken with an identity crisis, I wouldn't have ordered BUFFALO wings. We stayed in Kauai for 8 days and mostly ate in the Princeville area. This is the one place I'd avoid if I went back again. Service was super slow....... They forgot drinks we ordered, and we basically had to flag them down to order a beer. When the pizza did arrive, they didn't bring plates or anything, so we got up and grabbed them ourselves. Pizza was average, beer was good and would have had about 4-5 instead we had one because our server was never around to ask. There are plenty of better options close by. If I can give this place zero stars for service I would. We walked in at 8pm and the guy at the front said it would take 2 hours to get food out to our table. How is this possible if they close at 10pm ? He didn't care and started emptying dishwasher. Several parties were complaining that the restaurant was empty but they couldn't offer a table for us walk ins. Server also said takeout was not an option and that they were short staff. Being told there would be a 2-hour wait in a mostly empty restaurant, after being assured earlier on the phone that a reservation wasn't needed, was disappointing -- especially when we were turned away without explanation or options. I didn't write this review to be unfair during a crisis, but to share my experience as a customer who had no context for what was happening. Been to princeville a number of times but first time here. I know we were there in the slower part of the season, but this place was struggling. Pizza - meh. Nothing wrong with it, nothing great. They were out of a lot of stuff. Only 3 beers from their list of 8 or so available. Had a lot of wine listed, but only had one of their whites available. Gave us the happy hour menu, but didn't have some of the drinks. The tables were sticky like they have been wiped repeatedly with dirty rags. The two people running the show were vey nice. Gave my wife prosecco because house white not available and then told us later that's not on happy hour menu. read more

I called last week ( August 2025) to order pizzas and salad for 3 of us. They recommended 3 pizzas and two salads, as we were staying 2 minutes away I walked over to pick it up. Service was very slow, over 45 minutes from my call until it was ready. Pizzas were huge and very poor quality, and we ended up throwing most of it away. Our bill was $175!!! I never bother with reviews generally but this place was so atrocious I feel obliged to warn others.Kauai is often expensive but this place is ridiculous. If you're going to charge $50 for a 14", 3 topping pizza, how about not throwing raw toppings on top of a pizza that was already made incorrectly and "reheating" it in the oven. Sorry this was not great. Service was nice but the pizza was not pizza. We got the Italian job and a pepperoni and white sauce mix. The uncut roasted garlic was everywhere and too much. Huge chunks/cloves of it. The crust looked great but ended up flavorless. I love mozzarella as much as the next guy. But too much can make a pizza swim in cheese water, and our pizza was drowning. Our server was an adult woman who was off-putting to say the least, as she decided to immediately trauma dump on our table about her personal life's issues. Our table went along and feigned interest as we suffered through 2 separate unsolicited rounds of it. It was truly terrible service. I regret not calling it out or leaving. Food; very expensive prices for cheap ingredients. Pupus were better than the pizza- and even those were forgettable. As for the pizza- just bad. The dough was undercooked (pale and mushy). Another reviewer mentioned buying a frozen pizza instead of coming here- I couldn't agree more. Literally any frozen pizza would've been better, and much cheaper. read more

And during that 30 min wait i witnessed the only 3 tables with customers get up and leave and one of those people tried to talk to the only idiot working and he was one on the most unfriendly people I have ever seen, he proceeded to ignore everyone and not care at all that the whole restaurant was upset. There were people trying to order carry out that he would just laugh at and say he had no clue how long it would take. If I had any extra whip cream pies I would have thrown them all in his face. Came here because it was one of the last places in the area still open and thought the pizza looked good. Ended up waiting over an hour for the buffalo wings and our pizza was done 20 minutes prior. The waiters were rude to our party and checked on us once the entire time we sat there. The pizza came out fine but the wings were terrible. Also they charge $3 for a single tiny cup of ranch. Stating that the price has risen because they're on an island. $3 ranch is crazy in my opinion. Wouldn't recommend unless you're getting the pizza to go. Even then it's a risk. read more

We were a party of 7 adults, and three toddlers. We walked in and were sat (approximately 5-6 mins) no water was given. Four seperate guests came in after us and were immediately sat and served water within 2 mins of sitting. We asked if we can have waters and were told I think they just poured them , let me check. Another couple came in and received water before us as well. We searched for other restaurants in the area, pizza. We found one at Hannah Lake Bay resort and call them to see if we can be seated. They said definitely come on in. When the water was finally brought out, we had decided that was enough and told the waiter that we were going to leave. He gave us a dirty look and said Enjoy your night and picked up the waters and tossed them rudely into the dirty dishes bucket next to the table. I am a chef in a restaurant, our policy is always take care of customers in order. Normally waiters always make sure to take care of the bigger parties with extra care, to hopefully receive a bigger tip. What a horrible experience. We went to Wiki Pizza down the road and were sat at a much nicer atmosphere. We're given water immediately upon sitting down. Served with urgency and pizza was amazing. Ordered online, arrived and went to bar to wait for order, server never once even acknowledged us for over 10 min (looked right at us and not a peep). Finally when he did come to us, we let him know we had an online order. After waiting politely another 30 min, I finally went into the kitchen myself and asked if our pizza was ready. Turns out it had been ready for quite some time. Tons of apologies for being "short staffed". We always go there at least once when in Princeville, after this time never again.
