Needed coffee bad today. Went to Kroger and saw this coffee shop on the way in, so I went in to get a nice cup of coffee. Place was buzzing with activity. Looks like a local hang out for locals working remotely. I got a regular cup of coffee which was hot and tasty. Only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because I thought it was a bit pricey. In Franklin for only a couple days, and we were sooooo happy to find High Brow! Nestled in a quaint shopping area just a couple minutes from downtown Franklin, it's everything you want your neighborhood coffee shop to be. Amazing pastries, home made (!) pop-tarts, and most importantly....incredible coffee! I had a latte and the shots were pulled to perfection. Along with the exquisitely steamed milk, it made the perfect morning pick me up. The baristas were so kind and the owner even sat down and chatted with us for a bit. He's fantastic! We picked up some beans to take back to Dallas with us and were so sad we couldn't take the whole shop with us. It will be our first stop next time we're in town! Thanks, High Brow! Me, my wife and son walked into HBB this past weekend and were thoroughly impressed! From the atmosphere to the employees and most importantly the drinks. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous and made some really helpful suggestions. I went with the matchless coffee soda and let me tell you - I haven't stoped thinking about it since. I could drink that coffee soda all day, I highly suggest it. Another cool aspect to the shop is that they carry pied piper ice cream - which if you haven't had any go get some asap, as well as carrying local honey which me and my wife are always in search for. I'm not monetarily wealthy by American standards, but I'm willing to pay a little more for a great cup of coffee from a local business, especially if a pleasant, inviting atmosphere is also provided. I always enjoy doing my office work in a comfortable coffee house. If that's what you're looking for, then this place is probably not for you. The layout and seating arrangement is awkward and uncomfortable - there is a giant table in the middle that was full of 2-3 groups of people conducting somewhat loud business type meetings. Then there is a stainless steel bar top and stools all around 3 sides of the square room, that are just too close for comfort. You feel as if you're constantly excusing yourself or bumping into the person next to you, or those behind you even at the huge board meeting table. I'm 5'7" and 185 lbs. I should be able to navigate freely through a room that is only filled to half capacity. So how about the house brew? Decent flavor, and friendly enough customer service. But warm at best. Coffee should be hot. Doesn't have to burn the skin off and cause a lawsuit, but should at least be very warm. This was lukewarm. It's on the business to serve it hot; no one likes to be the person asking them to dump it out and brew you another batch. The place isn't horrible, but not worth trying again for this coffee house lover. read more

I really hate to leave this updated review, but after visiting 5 times and only having two positive experiences, I am sad to say I will not be returning. Ahhh where to start? It should not take 10 minutes to make a latte when there is not a single other customer in the store. It should not come to you at normal temp if you ask for "extra extra hot". Repeatedly. A Dirty Chai should not taste undrinkably bitter and neither should it come with a nutmeg flavored spice topping (told after the fact that it was the "Chai spice" which was NOT on my first Dirty Chai and which was one of the two good experiences I'd had. Neither should your fresh biscuit sandwich come with an egg that looks like a yellow post-it pad (and probably tastes just as delicious). And finally, if you're going to charge me $11(!!) for a 12oz drink and small muffin, I think you should nail the drink, and your muffins should taste better than just OK. I am from Seattle where lattes are pretty much a daily must have, so you're seriously losing out on a good amount of money from me. I will absolutely travel from my home in Westhaven to Honest Coffee at The Factory every single day to get coffee. They may also charge a small fortune, but at least they do it right EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. read more

This place caught my eye from the car window- Rocking Chairs on the front porch over looking the lake, Mason Jars, a Water bowl out front for Pups, etc. The atmosphere is everything I've ever wanted in a coffee shop. High Brow Brew is a cool little coffee shop in the main strip of the Westhaven neighborhood. Although the location is a bit odd (although super convenient for the residents of the neighborhood) I really enjoyed my trip here. I ordered an Americano (my standard when trying new coffee shops) and it was smooth and well-balanced. The barista was very patient and helpful with my friend who does not like coffee or tea (she ended up with an iced chai latte after the Barista kindly gave her a sample). The decor is industrial modern, the standard go-to for newer "hip" places. Despite the hip feel, the entire building was very welcoming. I really liked the communal sitting (one giant table in the middle) as it made the small shop feel a lot more open. I will definitely stop back here on my next visit to Franklin. read more

Since Honest Coffee was closed, thought I'd rely on my car GPS to take me to a non-Starbucks est and so I ended up at a location I've never been to, contrary to one review I've read, the place was easy to find, parked next to the back entrance and was helped right away by a nice friendly lady. Ordered my mocha and it was just as heavenly in taste as my favorite place to go for my coffee fix. With that said, I will be coming back. read more

Was hoping for a better experience, but I'll give them another try next time I'm in the area because I prefer to support local coffee shops. I really want to like this place. First off, good luck finding the shop. I knew exactly where it was supposed to be based on GPS, but I overlooked the place twice due to poor signage and ended up driving around that same building twice and then wandered further around to a different section of Westhaven before finally seeing a sign for it! I feel the drink menu (coffee and espresso) is a little limited. They do have different food options including baked goods, biscuits, and even ice cream. It was after I had ordered and paid for my mocha that I found the muffins wrapped and stored on a centerpiece server on the middle of the big table where patrons were sitting. So I went back and grabbed one and paid separately. My mocha was on par. The muffin was just not very appetizing. The service was fine, but they didn't go out of their way to smile or make you feel welcomed. Oh yeah, my lid came off my drink twice, but fortunately it did not result in a major spill. I had trouble getting the lid to fit on my cup. They also have tea and coffee by the bag for sale, as well as gifts. The place is beautiful and rustic on the inside. I'm hoping next time I have a chance to stop in that I can upgrade my review. read more

I wouldn't recommend if you're in a hurry, on your way to the office, etc. Its more of a "gaze and chatter" kind of place, mostly affluent folk wasting time, but I must say that for the price, the actual product is disappointing. They recently changed to go cups to what is obviously a cheaper type; and I've had more than a few leakers (but it's supposed to be ok cause they're "made of recycled material") Twice I've used the creamer only to get a mile down the road and realize it was spoiled and made my whole coffee sour. I really only go for coffee, but I got a breakfast item once and was disappointed, as it was overpriced for what you get. This place is usually my go to. Great coffee & amazing granola. BUT. I walked in and 2 out of 3 employees were behind the bar maskless. The gal who took my order put hers up when she spoke to me but the other gal proceeded to make drinks, speak to people across the cafe, and work maskless. People like this is why tennessee has the highest rates of covid in the WORLD. (Yes the world, look it up.) I don't care if you are a conservative or a liberal, whatever, this virus is real and we need to all be good neighbors and friends to each other by protecting each other in any and all ways we can!! Especially if you are serving the community like this shop is. I wanted to ask her to put the mask up while she was making my drink, but i was genuinely so shocked and angry at the sheer disregard and disrespect for my as well as her coworkers health and safety. I've been here several times hoping to see improvement in the employee mask wearing, but there hasn't been any. The coffee and food is decent, but the employees are not good about wearing masks and their customer service is severely lacking especially considering how expensive the menu is. There is only one barista who I've had a pleasant experience with and unfortunately I don't know his name, but he wears clear glasses. Overall- I only go because it's in the neighborhood so it's convenient. It's overpriced and in general the employees are rude and aren't concerned with timeliness or health precautions. read more
