The food is really good Tavern Burger is the best burger I've ever had but is a bit pricey. Oyster are always good at $1.50 each during happy hour or all day on Tuesday. Devils on horseback is tasty app as well. Drinks are good as well but maybe a bit small. The bar is beautiful and the atmosphere is really nice. My only issue was the bartender, he was mixing more drinks for himself (Titos and Titos with red bull) than he was making for me. He had 4 drinks to my two. I felt like I had to ask to order food or drinks rather than being waited on. read more

Very nice place inside but also very expensive drinks. Special margarita is $15 and it came in a rocks glass with a huge ice cube. I lifted the ice cube out of the glass and the drink was maybe 3 or 4 oz. at best. I paid $15 for an ice cube. read more

I am new to the area and decided to go in for a few drinks with some girlfriends after work. We sat at a high top table next to the bar and were greeted right away. Cocktails were good but the music was very loud and we had to tell to talk to each other at the same table, other than that everything was good I will be coming back for the food menu it was too late to order food by the time we got there. read more

Came in for a quick dinner bc I was so hungry! Took a seat at the bar and the bartenders were immediately attentive. Ordered a drink and decided on the mushroom risotto. Holy smokes, absolutely delicious. Enjoyed a complimentary Prosecco as I was asked to move over a seat to accommodate an older couple. Very strange service tonight. Been many times and have had an ok experience but tonight was shotty to say the least. New staff amost everytime I come in but not only that the new bartender shook my bourbon drink like vigorously shook it like a cosmopolitan. Staff was on their cell phones looking flustered. It was a Monday so they advertise lobster specials and I've been seeing online they take pictures and want people to come for it but no where-anywhere did it say what was offered. I had to ask. I had high hopes for this place but it just seems like another place that will die off in westerly from awful service and bad location. Food has been consistent but the vibe in there tonight was terrible. Management-it starts at the top--ps this is from someone who has worked over 40 years in food and beverage. Idk what to say about this place. Accidentally stumbled on it while looking for dinner places. Every single thing we had was delicious and cooked perfectly . My only issue was that shrimp wasn't all cleaned consistently very well but whatever, sh*t shrimp happens. Steak was perfectly medium rare and potatoes that came with it were so good that I was force feeding myself towards the end because I couldn't stop eating them they were so good. Desserts were also something else. That butterscotch pudding with whipped crème fraîche made my night and I don't normally eat desserts at all. Also, service is excellent and very attentive. Oysters were cold and fresh with out chards of shells. Excellent. Fried fish was crispy and perfectly seasoned. My partner had the pork chop which he reported as ok. The Ambiance was amazing. High Hope has quickly established itself as perhaps *the* place to eat in Westerly. I have visited the restaurant for date night with my wife as well as with a group of friends, and both experiences were top notch. The food, service and ambiance are all excellent. The raw bar is a hit and the cocktail menu features creative concoctions (one request: blue cheese olives!). Both the tuna and steak tartare are excellent, as is the grilled asparagus appetizer. The burger is exceptional and the fish & chips were breaded & fried to perfection (legitimately up there with the best fish & chips I've had). The wait staff is attentive without being intrusive, and took care of my group(s) very well. I'm not typically the type of eater that wants to go back to the same restaurant vs. trying new places, but High Hope is firmly on the top of the list for repeat visits. If I had one night to show friends around Westerly, High Hope is where I would bring them. read more

I went for happy hour and got the oysters, while they were fresh, whoever shucked them did a really poor job. They were dirty and full of shells. High Hope Tavern has a lot of potential and is a great spot in Westerly. The food was very good, but the menu was limited. The people working there were very friendly, but not always on point. It felt like the place is finding it's way. It looks very nice on the inside, but the emphasis definitely seems to be the bar. read more

By far my favorite restaurant in Westerly. After my first visit, they remembered my name (and even my dog's name, which came up in conversation) and what I like to drink. The staff is just phenomenal, and the food and cocktails are excellent (best caesar salad I've had anywhere- I love when a restaurant can elevate such a basic dish and make it transcendent). The atmosphere is great- it has a rustic elegance to it. Brass fixtures, lots of varnished wood and a massive 50-ish-foot oil painting above the bar give it a timeless appeal. High Hope Tavern kind of lives up to its name. We went there on a Wednesday night with high hopes , having heard a lot about it from friends. We were not disappointed. In its present configuration there is a big emphasis on the bar so I guess the tavern part works as well and on this Wednesday night the bar was hopping and there were only a few diners. The decor is casual, the music was a bit loud (our waitress fixed that) and the service was decent. The menu is not super extensive having about ten appetizers, a half dozen main courses, and two deserts. We started off with the fried smelt. I'm picky. I don't think they were smelt!, probably they were the smaller whitebaits. With the smaller size munching on them was like having a plate of peanuts. A bit dry but tasty little morsels. I had been warned that the burger was expensive and at twenty five bucks it ain't McDonalds. What that price gets you is a simple, very good burger and a pile of excellent fries. The burger was enrobed with American cheese, had a slice of onion, and was served on a soft sesame seed bun. No fancy brioche or pretzel bun, no load of mushrooms and onions. Just meat, cheese, onion and bun. It was one of the best burgers that I've had in a while , and believe me, I've been on the quest for the perfect burger. MK had the mussels, nice sized in a coconut broth with a pile of herbs on the side. It could have used a side of fries but luckily my serving was more than enough to share. The drinks menu was fairly extensive on the cocktails and adequate on the wine. I thought the wine pours were on the light side, but that seems to be the trend. All in all it was a pleasant evening and not inordinately expensive. . I'll be back. read more

Great new addition to downtown Westerly. Bartenders and waitstaff are exceptional. Beautiful space with a lively, fun vibe. Very creative cocktails. I had a perfect Espresso Martini. The fried smelts appetizer is not something you find on very many menus, so I gave it a try. Fantastic! Just the right amount of batter, not at all greasy, perfect dipping sauce. The mushroom risotto is one of the best risottos I've ever had. Cooked to the right level of "chew" with a variety of delicious mushrooms. We will surely be back! Just one caveat, if you seek a cheap meal or a bargain, this is not your joint. It will cost you, but we thought it was well worth it. Lastly, note to parents: there's no kids menu and this is not a place to bring your kids and let them yell, scream, play games on their phones with the volume all the way up, run around, torture the staff... jus' sayin'. read more

I love this place. It's what downtown westerly needed. The food is always fresh and organic. They freshly squeeze all their juices that they use in their drinks daily. I have tried everything on their menu and it's amazing! The burger and the fries are the best I've ever had. The service is always outstanding! The fireplace and the sage green booths make it cozy and warm. Their bar is huge but you never have to wait long for a drink. The drinks are amazing . It's my go to place.
