Small, local joint with two buddies running it and the vibe is 110% Spokane! They have just a few taps but a larger selection of beers/ciders in their cooler and all the food is homemade. Went in again last night and tried another one of their sandwiches, The C.B.G.B. It was absolutely delicious. They have a garlic mayo that they use on the sandwich and it was amazing! This place is a National Treasure. Full stop. In my fifteen years on yelp, I've searched thousands of places all over North America, and I've only reviewed a place maybe 3 times. Only when it really meant something to me. This place is what a true public house should aspire to be. These dudes care about people who visit and they care about what they serve. We don't drink but since the reviews were so good for the food we tried it while passing through town. We went late afternoon so we were basically there by ourselves on our 37th anniversary. These guys know what they're doing when it comes to food. The strawberry crostini was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Seriously! The tomato bacon soup had a major punch of flavor without the acidiness tomatoes can have. So delicious! The French dip was good, just plain after the crostini and soup. Stopped by on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. The employees (which I believe were the owners) were quick to help us find a seat and offer us a menu. We decided to start with the Caprese appetizer with mozzarella, sun-dried, tomato, and pesto with crostini. So delicious! The beer was good and the Coke was bottled. For main courses we chose the Reuben and the Aji salad. The salad had a beautiful presentation but lacked a lot of flavor. The Ruben was incredible! It practically melted in my mouth, which seems unusual for a bunch of meat and bread but trust me when I say it's one of the best Reubens I've ever had. When we complemented the staff on the Ruben, they noted that it is one of their top sellers and it makes sense! Overall, the setting was really nice and it was clean inside. It was also nice to have cloth napkins and real silverware in a bar setting. Even the chef came out to ask how we liked our meal. I'd go back anytime and I'm so glad it's close to where I live. read more

It was out of this world good! It was the best BLT I have ever had. Honestly, I order BLTs all the time, and this was the best one ever! My husband had a lamb sandwich, which he said was excellent. He also had a couple of mushroom soups, and I had a cup of the house special soup, Bacon Tomato Gorgonzola. Both soups were fantastic! Even stuffed we had to try the homemade bread pudding. For starters, this place doesn't have a huge storefront; you may miss it if you're not watching, but make sure you're watching! You don't want to miss this place! The place is narrow and long with brick veneer walls and a comfortable atmosphere. They have a great bar with numerous choices, whether it's beer, wine or ciders. The wifey and I came for a late lunch: she ordered the grilled cheese, I ordered the French dip. We both ordered a huckleberry hard cider, on tap. Everything was presented well; like you were in an upscale restaurant. My sandwich was one of the best French dips I've had...ever! I looked up from my plate and saw that the wifey and already finished her sandwich, so had to be good! The waiter was super cool and on top of his game. The chef even came out to see how thing were; a wonderful personal touch! If you're in the area, make sure to stop by, you won't regret it! A QUICK UPDATE: So, we went downtown Spokane looking for a place to eat. I wish we had someone familiar with the foodie scene here, we would have loved to try something out. But, as it was, we were hungry and we choose to come back to Jake and Clays. These are two really cool guys that run the whole show! We tried different items from the menu, and it was fabulous! The location was unassuming but the food and service were incredible. I ordered the Wheatherford sandwich with a side salad. The salad was simple but had fresh crunchy vegetables with a delicious tangy sweet vinaigrette. The sandwich was the perfect mix of salty, sweet, and hot. My best description is "charcuterie board in sandwich form." That description is a reflection of my lack of words and not the lack of flavor this sandwich delivered. It was just different enough to be interesting, but also felt comforting and familiar. The front man was attentive and friendly. To top the experience off, they had late 90s hip hop/rap music playing and a huge selection of wine (I'm sure beer too but I'm a wine gal). Definitely will be returning. read more

We live in a town about 45 minutes away but when we are in Spokane Valley we ALWAYS stop to eat at Jake & Clays! Today we had * SESAME AHI SASHIMI SALAD Rare Seared Yellow Fin Tuna, Arugula, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Green Onions, Roasted Sesame Dressing, Sesame Seeds. With a glass of Malbec. Very Very good! Slow service, very tasty food! It appears this small restaurant is run by a husband and wife team. They were very friendly and stated up front that it was going to take a while for our food. We stopped in for lunch on a weekday about 1:30pm. The place was about 80% full but we found a table right away. Our food took about 15 minutes, which we did not mind. While waiting, we enjoyed a pint of tap IPA beer and a glass of wine recommended by our server. I was surprised when the bill arrived and I noticed that single glass of wine was $11.50! To there credit, it was clearly posted on the wall and I failed to ask upon the recommendation. It's clear they need additional help but I appreciate their passion and I do recommend this establishment. read more

This was a lucky find for us. My wife, daughter and I were looking for a late lunch and happened across this place. The food was fantastic. The French Dip sandwich and cheesy potato soup was really top notch as was the Smashed Joe and Bacon, Tomato and Gorgonzola that my wife and daughter got. The staff is just the two owners as they have had a rough time after COVID. Both were very nice and courteous. It looks to offer a number of craft beers though we didn't have any this time around. Inside is clean and somewhat of a bar atmosphere but probably fine for families of older kids. Great place! read more
