Cool, pie/dessert place located at the top gun house. I've lived in Oceanside before and I know that it's been here, but for some reason I never bothered to come by and check it out. I got a whoopie and it was nice and soft and not too sweet. Service was ok. The lady in the front didn't look like she wanted to be in there, but it's cool. I walked by this shop when I dined nearby, but it was closed. The next time I was in Oceanside, I came to check it out. If you're a fan of Top Gun, definitely check this place out because they have some memorabilia here- it is also the actual house used in the set of the original movie. They sell these cute little hand-held pies, as well as coffee and kombucha. I chose a high-pie a la mode and a pack of 3 pies. You pay at the counter and then they'll let you know when your order is read on the other side of the counter. The pie on a stick was so stinking cute! I finally got around to seeing the Top Gun House. The shop itself is adorable..it has that cozy, small-town charm that makes you want to stay awhile. The decor is inviting, and the staff was friendly, which made me even more excited to try their pies. Unfortunately, the pies didn't quite live up to my expectations. They were pretty pricey, which I wouldn't have minded if it tasted good. The crust was a bit dry, and the filling tasted like it might have been from an older batch. Cue the "Top Gun Anthem"! It's Memorial Day weekend and I was trying to see if I could make it a Top Gun weekend. Top Gun Maverick movie night on the USS Midway - tickets sold out. Tour of Miramar? Not available. But I was able to hit up the Top Gun house in Oceanside on the way down to San Diego! Located smack dab in the center of the Mission Pacific Hotel across the pier, it's a cute blue house, restored to its original Victorian beauty, that is now High-Pie and sells fruit pies with Top Gun decor around every corner, including a replica motorcycle on the front lawn for photo ops. Yes it's a tourist trap, and the pies are expensive for what you get (3"x3" pies @ 3 for $9), but they're actually quite good. Flaky crust and yummy flavors. My family sat in the porch and enjoyed our pies and the view of the ocean. Service is quick and friendly. I tried every flavor available today. Seasonal flavors today were lemon and peach (my favorite). Cherry, blueberry, and apple are the regular flavors. The shop is wheelchair accessible with the wheelchair entrance at the back of the shop (look for the red door). No restroom on site but you can use the restroom at the hotel next door. read more

Tourist attraction across the street from Oceanside Pier. It's the house where Top Gun was filmed. They moved it here from its original location. They sell hand pies and ice cream. The pies were very small and not very filling, but they were allright. Good thing is that they heat it up for you. But the staff was forgetful and inattentive and my pies sat out and they forgot to tell me my pies were ready so they got cold. They saw me sitting right there by the counter waiting but they just didn't give a care. The food and customer service alone would be a 3 rating, but it is still a cute location to visit. Been wanting to try this place for so long! Went on a Saturday morning but unfortunately an hour before they opened so my boyfriend and I just hung around the area for awhile. It's placed right across the beach and pier and next to another cafe/restaurant. About 10 min before they opened, people were already waiting in line to take photos and wait for the doors to open. The outside is a cool photo spot given the significance of this house (top gun). The inside is also super adorable but nothing too special in my opinion. The staff was friendly and I got my mini pies in just about 10 min. They had several classic flavors plus a few seasonal ones like pumpkin, peach and cherry. I ordered pumpkin, apple and peach. All were great, but I think the pumpkin was a bit too runny for me like it could have been more firm. The other reviews saying they fall apart - it's trueeeee but I ended up picking it up super slowly to prevent it from crumbling. The addition of the chocolate spread was good. I have always heard about High Pie and follow them on social media and when I found out we had a parking space and were in the area of course we had to go check it out! The house itself is iconic and there are a few landmark signs around. As soon as you walk up towards the front door you see a replica of the cycle Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis famously ride along the Oceanside beach to the house. Lots of photo ops and interesting info around. Loved the pic of Goose and Ice Man inside where you pick up your pies. Pies are $3 each and flavors available today we're cherry, blueberry, and seasonal (lemon and peach). There are even dipping sauces and an ala mode option. We opted for a dozen pies which was about $34 and two sides of lemon curd ($2/each). We got a variety of apple, lemon, and peach pies. The apple pie was tasty when warm, the peach was so good (even cold) and the lemon was super tart and refreshing. At first it seemed a bit pricey but well worth the price. The crust is buttery and flaky and the hand held mini pies are stuffed with filling. The atmosphere is neat, there are a few seats indoors and plenty of seating outside. The staff was friendly enough and the wait time from ordering to getting pies and coffee was fairly quick. I would for sure stop by if in the area, it's a great local piece of San Diego history for sure. read more

The house itself is really cool. It was nice to see how the area has changed so much since this house was featured in Top Gun. The outside is classically Victorian and has a plaque outside about how it was in Top Gun. There's even a replica of the motorcycle Tom Cruise used to ride to Kelly's house in the film. The inside of the house is really decorated well and funky. Taking pictures of the outside and inside of the house is the best part of the experience! The service is super friendly. Unfortunately, the lowest part of the experience are the pies itself. They only have mini pies that are like mini hot pockets. They reminded me of the Apple pies from McDonald's, yet smaller and triple the price. Granted, they tasted a little better than McDonalds pies, but it wasn't as delicious as I hoped. They don't have pie in the traditional sense, only the mini pie pockets. I got the 3-pack with one of each: Apple, cherry and blueberry. I did take them out and ate them a few hours after purchasing. The server recommended putting them in the air fryer for 3 minutes. This worked well making the pie fresh and crispy. I just wished they were a bit more flavorful. Imagine my delight when my friend declared that we should go to the Top Gun house which happened to be right next door to where we were having brunch. I rushed to pull up the bucket list that I had created a decade or more ago that included the Top Gun house! I clapped with delight like I was a seven year old girl. I was *so* giddy! I knew that it had semi-recently become High-Pie from star Oceanside Yelpers, Elle and Vin. When Vin had posted photos of the exterior of High-Pie, I IMMEDIATELY recognized it as the Top Gun house, even though they had painted it *interesting* colors. I only wish that they had stayed a little truer to its original appearance. Anyway, I loved the visit, I loved the cute hand pies. The young man behind the counter was super friendly and passionate and reverent of his workplace. I was into it. If you're a Top Gun aficionado like I am, it's a must visit! Pie Pro: pretty, cool set up, I personally think they are the perfect size. Two were PLENTY. Apple was like the canned stuff but I'd get it again. They had blueberry but we didn't get one, but I like they had options. Con: they fall apart getting them out of the display. Treat them as super duper delicate. My suggestion is to break the cardboard a bit to get them out, that's how mine stayed in one piece. The others crumbled. So 4 out of 6 crumbled. Cherry was more like jam with less flavor. Service Pro: long line and lady was patient. The workers seemed to be working efficiently. Was a wait but not business's fault, lots of ppl equals wait. Plenty decor to look at while you wait. Con: no change. So we had to use our card because we lacked one penny of the total. We could have lost the penny but I had my card so went that route. Don't think rude of the business not letting the penny go, I wouldn't even ask or expect that, price is the price. We didn't ask, they didn't suggest, as soon as I saw I was a penny off, I got my card out. (Spelling it all out because I know some ppl might assume too much lol). Ambiance: Hubby and i TRIED to watch Top Gun but neither of us enjoyed it at all. I'm not a Cruise fan. Never have been. Just not a fan of any of his movies. Hubby does likes some of his movies. I am however a huge Val Kilmer fan since day one. Even with that, we didn't like Top Gun. Might attempt watching the second one someday. But this is why I've yet to check this place out. Very sad... there was a time the pie here was soo good. Now it is very disappointing. Each time I go in and ask for the pie with the ice cream in it they say the machine is broken. Been saying that for months. The pie now is flat, greasy, very little filling. I brought two of them home because I didn't eat them and the next morning their hard is a rock. So this place has a couple polar opposites working in its favor.. Firstly the Top Gun link drew me in, secondly pie?? Yes please. It's actually really small inside and so are the pies. Ordered a couple with the ice cream. I didn't understand it is a process to make them and get the ice cream inside. This can produce some degree of waiting you should expect; I think you can order ahead. The pies are small but really tasty, can't knock them. It seems that what makes this place so popular is because of its affiliation with Top Gun. This house was featured in Top Gun as the house of Kelly from the movie. It has since converted into a pie shop. There are pictures inside as a nod to the movie. There's a replica of Tom Cruise's motorcycle in the front. The packaging is really adorable. The pies are just okay. I got two of the high pie-- apple and cherry for $3.50 each. A bit expensive for something so small. It's like a poptart but not as sweet or flavorful. It was a little bland even though the pies were dusted with granulated sugar. The apple tasted like an apple pie and was my favorite out of the two. It's a good place for coffee though for only $1. I went on a weekday and there were no lines; it wouldn't have been worth it to wait in line. There is a cute little patio with outdoor seating. Great place to check out for an avid Top Gun fan. Saw this place on tiktok and we had to try it. The whole place is so cute from the outside to the inside decor, it feels like youre at disneyland or something. They have some patio seating and a side yard with plenty of tables. We ordered the cherry, blueberry and apple pies. We also ordered some cherry soda. The cherry soda is sooo good and refreshing. Not too sweet. The pies were really good and warm. Cherry and apple were my personal favorites. The prices are little high for the size. They are pretty small. The cottage was then featured in the 1986 Top Gun movie and has been a landmark in Oceanside, CA, ever since. Up until the 2022 release of the Top Gun Maverick movie, the house was decrepit as it originally sat on 102 N Pacific St. It has been fully restored and moved a couple blocks down to 250 N Pacific St. A landmark and bakery shop nestled within the Mission Pacific Hotel, directly across from the Oceanside Pier! Grab your date. Grab your phone/camera. Bring $5 (less than a gallon of gas BTW!). And enjoy a palm-sized apple pie wrapped in an Air Mail envelope (remember those?) under the patio umbrella or while you stroll to the beach. read more

Once a vacation rental, the hotel purchased the Top Gun house (one of the oldest homes in San Diego) and rehabilitated it and made it a tourist attraction. Fitted with the identical Yamaha Kawasaki bike Tom Cruise drove in the first movie, this place has the perfect photo op for your IG or TikTok. Once you go inside on the highway to the danger zone and transported into 1980's Top Gun land with some memorabilia and a great redesign of the interior, which was done by the great Nicolò G. Bini (designer of Cara Delevingne's home). What you have to eat is from the mind of the amazing Chef Tara Lazar, the High-Pie, which is a handheld pie. Two main flavors, cherry and apple. Small, but perfectly flavorful. Get a 3 pack, minimum. You can also try it a'la mode, which is the High-Pie on a stick with ice cream. 100% worth it. Obviously the appeal here is to see the famous house from Top Gun. It's nestled into a nice little area across from the beach, so it's a great destination. For the pie's they are pretty good. They are about two bites, maybe three but are pretty tasty. They are a bit hard to take out of the holder, so be careful otherwise they fall apart a little bit. Which is what added to a 3 star. We had half of them fall apart as we are taking them out. Otherwise, would have been a 4. We had the Cherry and Apple and they were good. I was finally able to make a stop at the Top Gun house (aka High Pie) in Oceanside. It is a cute little house nestled in front of a hotel and right across from the water. It was definitely recognizable from the movie and has a nice outdoor patio seating area. The inside is quite interesting in its decor, it was like Victorian meets top gun aviator. While there were some pictures of the movie, it would have liked to see a picture of the actual scene filmed at the house. On to the pies...I guess I should've read reviews and looked at pictures before because I was thinking of was a whole pie. Instead they are mini pies about 2x2 squares. They are a bit pricey in my opinion ($5 for 1 or $9 for 3). We went with the 3-pack and got the apple, berry and pumpkin. It comes in a cute 3-pack flight and while the crust was nice and flakey and the inside was pretty good, not the best pie I've ever had. I also would have liked to try their POG (passion orange guava) but they were out. Definitely come here for the nostalgia, see part of cinematic history and enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean. read more
