Food was delicious and customer service was great only reason why this restaurant did not get a 5 was the wait was comparable to MVD. Don't know if there was lack of servers or something but the wait was almost walking out long. The food kept me in my seat and didn't want to leave. I'd like to preface this review with the fact that we really wanted to like this place and heard great things about it. First let's start with the wait time. We were told that we would be seated within 20 minutes. Perfect, we didn't mind as we were excited to dine here. At 35 minutes of wait time I went up to the front and asked if we would be able to be seated soon. I was told that we would be seated in another 15-30 minutes and that the previous estimate was simply incorrect (flag 1). We (wife and child) agree to sit and wait, I asked to see a menu so that we may expedite the process once seated. After another 20 minutes of wait time (55 total) we are seated and told our server will be with us shortly. 15 minutes after being seated (1:10)we are met by our server who seems pleasant. She takes our order and the tables next to our and across from ours. At this time we have placed our entires food and drink order and wait. Our waitress was quick to bring our drink order to us and it was perfect. After 30 minutes of waiting we start to see tables who ordered after us receive their foods. No big deal ours should be coming up shortly as we are excited to dig in. After another 20 (120 total) minutes of waiting our food finally arrives. Yay. We have our full order come out and it was exactly as we ordered. As we start digging in we see our daughter not touching her entree, after asking what could be wrong she explains that her MacNCheese tastes "funny". We reassured her that her food was good and at this point we try it we come to the conclusion that we can get her something else. As quick as possible we get our servers attention and relay that our daughter would like something else after having 1 bite of her food. Our server ordered her a replacement off the kids menu and our daughter would have some of our French fries in the meantime. About 10 minutes after this took place a replacement order came to our table. Perfect. Our server didn't not refill my wife's water our entire time, normally fine but we both had ordered green chili and it was hot. We finish our food and decide to ask for a menu to see about desert. (145 minutes into service) we look at the menu but our daughter is completely done with how long everything took. Understandably I felt she did remarkable all things considered with the length of this experience (she's 4). We ask for our server check and she promptly brings it out to us. She informs us that she had to charge us for the replacement order from our daughter and that it was not considered a replacement. Understandably not happy about this we agree and pay the bill in full with tip. After she brings out some to go boxes we were told that our daughter's first order was thrown away. We questioned why this happened. Either of us adults could have eaten it and the fact that we payed for both of the entrees did not sit well with me. I informed the front about my displeasure about our dining experience and will not be returning here. I hope that others have better experiences but we will not have any further experiences here. read more

The BEST service I have EVER received! I was meeting my sisters for lunch and one of them was going through a major storm in her life. I had bought her a water globe with a real rainbow rose in it as a reminder of God's promises. When I was being seated I slipped and the globe went flying and shattered everywhere. I was devastated and near tears because of the special meaning and story behind it. As we were finishing our lunch and getting ready to leave, Keith had come over and placed another one exactly like it on the table.... WOW!! This time in tears of joy. So we have been supporting our local restaurants because we love them and want them to be here when life goes back to normalcy. We have been disappointed a lot, but working in the service industry, I know how hard it is to get food to be as delicious in house as well as at your house. These guys nailed it! My husbands burger had the bun in a separate container so it didn't get soggy, my pasta was not dry nor overly watery, and the fries really were what another reviewer said they were (good even cold although they didn't make it long enough to get cold) I have not been this happy since planting my butt in a chair and getting the smiling service I miss so much! High Point Grill is on point! Upon walking in we were greeted immediately by the host and was sat right away. There is room for improvement with the ambiance other wise it's ok. The restaurant is very clean and everyone contributes to bussing tables and running food which I love to see. The menu is very different compare to other Italian restaurants in the ABQ. They have classic Italian dishes with their own unique twist. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and had the best suggestions. For my starter I ordered the Cajun Crab Hush Puppies. First of all everything is made from scratch and the Crab Hush Puppies were absolutely delicious. This masterpiece has generous lumps of crab meat, peppers, herbs in a Panko cornmeal with a Cajun remoulade and charred lemon. The Crab Hush puppies got me revved up for the main course. I like to order stuff that I can't make at home. So, the Crab Mac attracted my interest. This dish was so good it brought a tear to my eye! They are not shy with the portion sizes. The dish had lumps of crab meat, creamy Brie, and a touch of green chile. It was deliciously savory. I must add these guys make there own pasta! Thank you guys for the awesome experience! This place has really kept up the quality, even through the pandemic. The menu has had to change, of course, and the mussels are no longer on it, but everything is still so good! I'm currently a big fan of the 6 ounce filet. It's absolutely delicious. Even the side dish vegetables are amazing. I had broccoli the other day with the taste of butter, shallots, and white wine. It was delicate, so that the flavors didn't overwhelm the dish. I can't believe I'm raving about broccoli, but there it is. There is a little pat of herb butter on the filet... omg I could lick the plate after it melts! And if you think Dion's has the best ranch, well, you're not far off, but this is better. Absolutely the best french fries dipped in ranch I have ever had in my life. Front of the house and back of the house all seem to be working together as a team. Wow! I just stumbled upon this place because I was on the West Side... what a gem! The restaurant is clean with an open kitchen. You see fresh hanging pasta when you walk in and your mouth starts watering! I ordered the high point Mac and it was awesome. The steak was cooked perfectly, the green chile could be hotter but I I ALWAYS say that! If they were in the NE I would be a regular, looks like I'll be coming this way more often. We never had the chance to visit the Point Grill when they were located in Rio Rancho, but have visited High Point Grill three times since they reopened in Albuquerque close to where we live and have tried a few different menu items. On our first visit, I tried the pappardelle and meatballs and my husband ordered the Southwest burger. First of all, I love that the pasta is made fresh in house. The meatballs, while not bad, didn't have much seasoning and I had to add some salt to them (I rarely add extra salt to anything unless I feel something needs it). Despite being described as a "meatball marinara" sauce, it didn't taste like the meatballs were simmered in the marinara, which may have enhanced their flavor, but rather added on afterwards. The marinara itself was good but not fantastic, and a little thin for my personal taste. My husband said the burger was great and he loved the hand cut fries. The next time, I decided to get a burger but wanted something simple, so I ordered the Old School burger cooked well done (because that's my preference) and added some provolone, and my husband had the filet cheesesteak panini. My burger was excellent, cooked just the way I liked it, flavored well and was exactly what I was craving, simple but delicious. I did not need to add any seasonings or condiments whatsoever. The hand cut fries were awesome as well. My husband's sandwhich was also excellent, and the quality of the steak was great, nice and tender. On our last and most recent visit, I ordered the Mushroom Bacon Mozz burger (cooked well done), and my husband ordered the Double Bacon Mac. We also ordered the Garlic Romano fries as an appetizer. The Garlic Romano fries were good as they are the hand cut ones, but are quite salty compared to the regular fries that come with the burgers and sandwiches. I would have liked it if they were topped with fresh minced garlic, but I'm Italian and I love garlic so others may not feel the same way. The burger itself was excellent again, cooked perfectly and seasoned well, but I was a little disappointed in the significant lack of mushrooms on my burger. At first I thought the mushrooms had been forgotten altogether as I didn't notice or taste any, but as I was eating I noticed a few thin slivers of mushrooms hiding in the cheese. I love a good mushroom burger and that was the main reason I ordered this burger so it was a little bit of a letdown, but the other toppings (mozzarella and bacon) paired well with the burger. My husband's Mac and cheese was very good, also. The service overall has been very friendly and attentive. The food tends to be a bit slow coming out of the kitchen, but nothing too terrible (I think the most we waited for entrees was about 30 minutes), and I get the impression that everything is made to order, which is great. My main criticism is that the price points seem a bit on the high side for the type of food being served. I'm not opposed to paying a bit more for quality, but some of the prices border on fine dining prices without the atmosphere to match. I don't mind paying in the range of $12.00 for an excellent burger (which these are excellent burgers), but to pay the same price for a plate of seasoned fries is a bit much. With that being said, though, there are enough options on the menu that won't totally break the bank and enough good food to keep us coming back. read more

Looking around it appears that there is only one combination hostess/server for a full restaurant. Plenty of kitchen staff just nobody working the front of the house. I would have loved to give this restaurant a five star rating because the food, once we finally got it, was amazingly delicious. My husband and I arrived here at an early hour (4:00 pm'ish). The restaurant was empty except for the over-abundance of staff. Our waiter, Kieran, was attentive and got our order correct. He was friendly and checked on us frequently (and it was his birthday). The food (I had the artichoke chicken and my husband had a panini) was over the top worth going back for. So why did I knock off a star? Simple. It took almost thirty minutes from the time of ordering to the time of receiving the food in a very well staffed kitchen. If you are going to have customers wait this long for food, then a bread basket or some other tasty treat should be offered gratis. There was absolutely no reason for the wait. I would hate to see what would have happened had there been other patrons in the restaurant. My other reason for knocking off the star was that the chef was served his food before us while sitting at the end of the bar and maintaining his social life there. I found this to be wholly inappropriate. A chef who wants to build business should have come by the table to see if all was well. All that being said, it is worth trying this location if for nothing else but the artichoke chicken. Delicious!!!!!!!!! P.S. Soo disappointed in the service here. We wanted to try something new with some local friends. We chose High Point Grill because of the yelp rating and the location. We were greeted right away when we came in, however, as soon as we mentioned that there were 6 of us, the smile dropped from the hostesses face and she said we would have to sit at the "counter" or wait 40 minutes for a big table to open up. I assumed that "counter" meant bar since this isn't a diner and Since we had teenagers in our party, I didn't feel like this was appropriate. Very confused about the seating issue since there were many open tables in the restaurant. Either all the tables are nailed down and can't be pushed together, or the hostess just couldn't be bothered. Either way we won't be back and neither will our friends. read more
