I've seen recommendations of this place from Facebook and decided to try it. All I can say is wow. This is one of my boyfriend and I's favorite restaurant! We don't need no education....we had the shrimp and beef tacos....the shrimp was plump, juicy and perfectly cooked...the beef was overcooked with little seasoning...other than sauces...no other accompaniments...for these healthy prices, you would hope...for more? We don't need no thought control..the dessert of apple crumb cake and peanut butter ice cream (no ice given, to keep ice cream cold, on an 80 degree day)...was not pleasing. We came for our first visit after several glowing recommendations. This place was top notch! Our server, Emily , was the perfect amount of attentive and had a great sense of humor. We ordered the pork belly Mac which was a great portion with lots of pork belly. We also split the Buffalo chicken pizza and the steak with white sauce pizza. We were greeted when we walked in and told it was going to be a minute. It was. We could see that the waitstaff was running around trying to keep everyone happy. They were hustling! We did eventually get a table. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and very pleasant. It did take a bit to get our food. But not from lack of effort. This is the first time we have ever come to this restaurant. What caught our eye was the Cajun good. We only found one poor boy on the menu. A little discounted but we ordered a southwest cheese burger and a bacon and blue burger. We were wowed with the first bite. The fries were amazing. I added cheese and green chili to mine and my husband added some fries with hot sauce. Both were amazing. Our waitress was the best. Wow...wow....wow. So bummed. We've eaten here before and the food can be good but tonight? Wow...and not in a good way. Ordered a Starter right out of the gate and 50 minutes later, our server was apologizing because "the kitchen was really backed up with a 10 top and a 6 top"....seriously? A 10 top and a 6 top buried these guys??? What I saw was a line that had zero sense of urgency and a restaurant that was half full. Anyone ever try to wait 50 minutes with a hungry 2 1/2 year old? Lol. Not pretty. Lol. As we walked out / their had to have been 20-25 folks waiting to be seated. One table by us hadn't even ordered and they had been there for at least 25-30 minutes as well. I think they're weren't far behind us either... So what was the High Point? - Chick-Fil-A!! We got out there, sad to say and off to chick-fil-a we went. And as usual, fast service, tasty food with some healthy options...gracious service with a smile, a gratuitous "my pleasure" and vittles...all within about 3 minutes. Decided to update my review because this place has changed, for the worse unfortunately. A year later and they still haven't updated the website. However, they have updated the menu and got rid of all my favorite items No more fried artichoke appetizer, and no more teriyaki pork belly tacos. Figured I would try the teriyaki wings as a replacement but nope - they don't have those either. They've even taken pizza off the menu except for "Pizza Sundays" which seems pointless considering they close early afternoon on Sundays. It seems they want to focus on the burgers and macaroni and cheese. I rarely eat burgers and wasn't a fan of the mac so sadly, I won't be eating here nearly as often. read more

We've been here a couple times. We always forget about it because of the location. Anyway! We are here tonight! Trying the Pork Belly Carbonara and my hubby is having the Shrimp Po'boy with hand cut fries. The fries are to die for and the shrimp po'boy was tasty. The carbonara was ok. It needed more flavor. Lots of local beers on tap! I enjoyed Santa Fe Social Hour while my hubby enjoyed the Sierra Blanca Vanilla Milk Stout. We also had the ice cream flight. We went at 2pm on a Sunday had to wait about 20 minuets for a table and after we were seated we watched the one server in the area we were seated take care of all the tables around us and not give my wife, myself and two children a second look. We left after 15 minutes of not receiving so much as a "sorry you've been waiting, I'll be right with you". We're definitely not returning. read more

We have given this location several attempts and we really want to like it. The food tastes great and the staff is awesome but the management/owner has some areas of opportunity. We noted toward the end of last year to the beginning of 2024 that the front table and chair sets were replaced with second hand booths.The trouble is that they are cracked and covered in old serving napkins. At first and seconds glance they are at best, faded and look dilapidated. We have asked them several times, over the last 4 months, if they are planning on getting them reupholstered, and have been told several times it is in the works. Sadly, they are still really bad. Most recently, I went to lunch with 3 friends and had a terrible, "upsell" experience. Two of the party ordered burgers and were recommended, by the server, to upgrade to a side of mac and cheese, "for only $3." The server showed them all the Mac options and stated how well known they were for this item. What we weren't informed of, is that not all Mac were the same. Needless to say, at the end of the meal each were charged a $13 "up charge" rather than only $3. When we asked the manager they shared this was a, "common complaint and several people were upset by not knowing that not all macaroni dishes were the same cost." They explained the owner was aware of the issue and elected to not have their staff proactively share the cost discrepancy and the difference would not be waived. It feels as though, although this location has good food, they cut costs and offer some odd sales practices that will be keeping us from dining there any time again soon. Again, we really really wanted to like the place but with the high price points, outdated benches and now what felt like a lack of up front communication, I think we are going to take a break. Hopefully, the east side location is getting a little more attention. FYI, the manager and chef are epic, the issue lies with the waitress's positioning and the owner's policies. read more

My wife and I used to visit this restaurant back when it was called The Point Grill and it was located in Mariposa. They moved to this location (which used to be called Pi Brewing) after a drunk driver crashed his vehicle into a wall and closed it down. Unfortunately the owner didn't have insurance and wasn't able to afford to renovate and reopen. I liked the location better in Mariposa, even though it was a smaller facility. There are still a few waitresses and a hostess who made the move from the old location. I digress, on to the review. I ordered the double bacon mac and cheese with a Southwest burger, which won a 2019 State Fair award. I'm not sure what place it was awarded, but I will tell you if you like heat from your green chile (and I do) then order this burger! This burger features 2X hot NM green chile, a Chimayo red chile crusted patty, tomato, lettuce, and sharp cheddar on a toasted brioche bun. The chile flavor from the medium burger exploded and the meat dripped juices it had so much moisture. I must say, this burger instantly hit my top five list in NM. I paired it with a Caesar salad which was a bit small and lacked enough dressing. I also ordered a skillet of the double bacon, baked macaroni and cheese. This skillet overflowed with pasta shells, bacon, and cheesy goodness. My wife ordered the regular mac and cheese skillet and be warned. It is very filling. I almost tapped out halfway thru my skillet but I persevered and finished the skillet and the burger. Our waitress told us that Head Chef Mike White is rarely at High Point, instead devoting the lions share of his time to his new restaurant, Rustico Italian Kitchen. This restaurant features hand made pasta. She told us she tried it and it is wonderful. Rustico is located at 5200 Eubank NE, where the old Barley Room used to be. If Rustico is half as good as the High Point Grill we will be visiting. If you like large portions of good food for a medium high price, than visit High Point Grill. I came here for an early dinner and to try some beer. And it was alright! They have good local beer options with the possibility to build your own flight. So I got to try smaller samplings of several beers from the area without having to visit lots of separate spots or buy whole cans or bottles or pours. Huzzah! And they have a broad range of styles on tap too, so there is sure to be something for everyone and every palate. I got the nachos, with added guacamole and chicken. They were alright but not really anything spectacular or special. I have definitely had worse and certainly had better. But I would gladly eat these again, shared with a friend. Came in to watch an Opening day of March Madness Game. Game sucked but holy wow! Cheese fries. Then we got the Hamburger with an egg and the Jalapeno Popper pizza. I will start with the pizza. it was ok, could tell the effort that went into the fresh Japs and all the cream cheese was great. But, when you stack it up to that burger that we got Medium Rare. It really was not in the same league. The Burger at that level needs more of the old fashion cloth napkins. Because an egg and just over the line from rare meat are a sprinkler of flavor. Living on the "other side of the river" in Albuquerque, my friend and I ventured to "the other side." We found High Point Grill via Siri, and we truly wanted a local experience. Confession: The best pizza we have ever eaten ... thin crust with a pillow of crust on the outside. Served hot. Queso and chips were our starter. X Hot Hatch Green Chili was on the side. I'm originally from Michigan, so I'm leaning toward the spicy after 5 years. We did, however, have the chili on the side. In the end, we mixed it all in the queso. Delightful! Our young, sweet waitress was attentive and helpful. Plus, the Chardonnay was my favorite! I wasn't very impressed because I felt like the food was average and the prices were too high for what you get. I got a cheeseburger and couldn't decide between the veggie sticks or fries as a side so I got both. The portion of fries was quite large but the veggies was tiny. (3 tiny carrots and 3 tiny celery sticks which wouldn't even amount to one full carrot and one full celery). They charged me $3 for the extra side and I felt robbed. I was glad I hadn't chosen the veggies as my one side because it was such a small portion and especially in comparison to the fries. If they are both considered an equivalent side, they should be similar in value in my opinion. The burger was just ok (much fatter and smaller around than I like). My husband got the Philly cheesesteak and was also a bit disappointed. For a burger and cheesesteak and extra side of tiny veggies the bill was $40. To me that's too much for what we got. I was skeptical when we walked in on a Sunday afternoon and saw chairs in the back room where we were sat still flipped up sitting on top of tables - but truth be told I was blown away by the food! Just be warned the menu doesn't match the online version, but that didn't effect the food quality haha - I orders a burger in lettuce wrap (they offer gluten free buns, but wasn't in the mood lol) and wooooow sooooo good! Very juicy and flavorful! I'm kicking myself for not coming here sooner! It's been on my radar but never stopped in until last Saturday. I brought my bestie to lunch here and we both loved it. We had the nachos with chicken for an appetizer and I was really surprised at how good the chicken in there was. It must have been marinated or something because it was really flavorful. The chips and cheese were really good too. I ordered a Sandia Pineapple Cider which is on tap there. For some reason it always tastes better on tap. We both ordered the shrimp tacos and I seriously think I might go back tomorrow for them. I love shrimp and these were grilled to perfection and really nicely seasoned. They also came with Caesar salads and they must make the croutons in house because they were the highlight of the salad. They need to package those croutons up for sale! Our server was super nice and very attentive - actually everyone there was friendly and asking if we needed anything. We also didn't feel rushed to get out when we were done eating. Arrive early for parking. Could not find a current menu for this restaurant so I did my best to take photos for you. Party of three when we dined here. One ordered caesar salad no croutons, one ordered mac and cheese, and one ordered the Wagyu burger and fries. If you are not accustomed to wagyu beef know it has a unique flavor. The fries were crispy on the outside and moist inside. The mac and cheese was creamy and made perfectly. The caesar dressing had a nice flavor. After four visits I still plan to return the High Point, because Chef Mike White is so damned talented, but so far I haven't had any strong returns with this menu. Due to the higher price points, I've just anticipated better. Let me begin with the best, thus far: the burgers. Both the Sunrise and Campfire paired beautifully with some La Cumbre pints, they were ginormous, and delivered on the gourmet angle I anticipated -- which is what we paid for. Due to a bevy of dietary and, well, planetary reasons, lately, I've been ditching beef for fish and chicken. I'd really appreciate it if the burgers offered an alternative to red meat, but next time I'm going with the po' boy. Aside from that experience, I don't have much to report, but I cannot recommend the capellini or fusilli. I appreciate the fleshed out local beer selection and I've always enjoyed the attitude of staff members, from the moment I walk in the door to the Thank You upon exit. Bottom Line: Imaginative menu, quality ingredients well executed, served by friendly & conscientious staff. Top Line: I've grabbed a couple of midday lunches at High Point Grill. Each time I was greeted as I entered, quickly seated, menu'ed, and water brought to table. The chicken fajita mac-n-cheese proved to be a rich & flavorful choice. A dish strong & distinct enough in taste that it didn't lose its tasty punch down to the last bite. For me it was enough to feel like a meal. However, I'm a small guy. So if you're a good size individual, you may need more than this oversize ramekin of pasta & gooey goodness to fill you up. Not to worry, the menu at High Point is nicely diverse with full meal size options. Their "Build Your Own" burger option is nice in that it allows you to customize your sandwich according to your own tastes. But, as is typical with such menu items, the ala carte add-ons can quickly jack up the final price of the item by a fair percentage of the base price. I opted to eliminate the pickle/lettuce/tomato that comes standard on the $11 base burger (no discount for subtractions) and added grilled onions, avocado, garlic mushrooms, and provolone cheese at $1 each. So it wound up being a $15 burger, which is a bit high for a burger sandwich. But I must say that the very generous & moist patty with the add-ons giving it an elevated super umami taste justified the cost to me. I would order the same again in a heartbeat. Elegant dining has a certain characteristic of gravitas and weight about it. A pervasive sense of casual, yet seriousness, focus and attention. The dark subdued tones of High Point's interior, the high quality ingredients they've chosen & cooked with obvious care & attention, the restrained yet friendly attentiveness of the staff, and the quiet barely discernable music playing in the background have always given me the impression, in spite of a window wall flooding the space with plenty of light, that this is a fine dining establishment. This is a place you can bring guests when you want to eat a fine meal and converse without distraction or needing to raise your voices to be heard. High Point in my opinion would make a fine destination for a date night dinner. Check them out and see if you agree. read more

I really wanted to like this place. I read the reviews and was so hopeful! However, I was thoroughly disappointed. My friends and I ordered the trio off of the appetizers. It came with salsa, queso, and guacamole. The salsa and guacamole had absolutely no seasoning. And the queso was spicy but it was not to our tasting. Two of us ordered the Philly cheesecake sandwich and the other one ordered the chicken Philly with fries. The sandwiches were a large portion, however, it was mess and lacked flavor. The fries were not fresh and not seasoned well. The bill arrived and it was $85, I would expect this for seafood or steaks. The website says that the Philly sandwiches are $17.19. But we were charged $19 a sandwich. The appetizer was almost $15 and not worth it at all. I was not impressed with this place. I typically give a place a second chance but not for this price or for what I got. read more
