This place wasn't busy at all for 6:30pm on a Saturday night, the tables continued to fill up and by the time we left this place was popping! We asked for recommendations and the waitress said there wasn't a bad thing on the menu. We started with teriyaki wings as recommended by the waitress. The wing were a nice size and crispy, sweet, tangy perfection! I had the Pork Belly Mac and cheese and I was very pleased with the cheesy goodness. My husband had the High Point Mac, 2x hot Green Chile Mac and cheese topped with tenderloin steak, the Green Chile was HOT and kinda dry! They do have a great selection of NM craft beer on tap. read more

High Point Grill definitely gets the high mark in serving up an amazing burger! We tried the Southwest Burger & Bacon Blue. Fresh & seasoned to perfection..as well as their fries. My kiddos loved their grilled cheese & spaghetti & meatballs. Good service! P.S. Another unknown guest picked up the check for our table of seven! We were in tears! I'll start by saying that everything here is made from scratch. The mac and cheese is killer you must try it. I ordered the frutti di mare ravioli and it delivered on the promise of high quality crab-stuffed deliciousness. We also had the chicken marsala and those noodles paired very well with the chicken breast and mushrooms. We finished it with a dessert flight, which is the best possible choice for this category because you get 4 portions of a variety of, also made from scratch, goodies. From this flight our favorite was a bread that had the consistency of a cinnamon roll but better, the vanilla Russian ice cream, and the chocolate red chile ice cream. This place takes their products very seriously! My impression is that nothing is a packaged product, everything is from scratch - even the ketchup (pretty sure by how it looked as I had the garlic aioli with my fries). I had the Italian Po Boy which was outstanding along with the properly cooked fries. The AuJus sauce was the real deal being made with the drippings from the roast (my impression). This place serves meals prepared by chefs. No 'cooks' at this joint. That said, I was absolutely amazed the place wasn't packed for lunch. Maybe it's more of a night scene? read more

I bestowed the ABQTopTen Best Newcomer of 2015 award on Mike White's Point Grill (Rio Rancho/Mariposa.) Many of the excellent menu items from his first venture have made their way to High Point, along with some new offerings that are sure to blow o=your mind. With this writing, I am bestowing the Best Newcomer of 2018 on award Mike's new place, High Point Grill, which just opened its doors in the location that formerly housed Nicky V's. Nicky V's was one of my favorite hangouts, and High Point will occupy a place of honor on my regular lunch rotation. And it's only 12 minutes away from my Corrales home. The Dazzler and I walked through the doors and were instantly recognized by Mike and most of his staff. Yeah, we were in the right place, and it felt like home. We shared these two remarkable dishes: CAJUN CRAB HUSH PUPPIES Lump crab meat, peppers, and herbs in a panko-cornmeal; with Cajun remoulade and charred lemon. Mike understands blue crabs better than anyone else in this town. Perfectly seasoned--none of that fake Old Bay stuff, which has degenerated to a salt bomb. Mike rolls his own spices, and the result will tickle your palate. And his remoulade is simple and outstanding. I will probably order this dish every time I go there. FRUTTI DI MARE AI RAVIOLI ALFREDO House made ravioli filled with lump crab meat, peppers and herbs; seared shrimp and brown butter-sage alfredo. Crabmeat, pink shrimp, and homemade pork sausage pieces. The silky smooth sauce is not really Alfredo. It's better than that. This dish is a 17 on a scale of 1-10. DESSERT FLIGHT A gourmet sampling of handmade treats from the Chef. Five large spoonfuls on the most delightful and decadent sweetness you are likely to sample in this town. My favorites? The White Russian Ice Cream and the Cranberry/Jalapeño dessert. Everything from Mike's kitchen is scratch made except for the burger buns and the really high butterfat vanilla ice cream. Mike is a perfectionist, an experimentalist, and one of the very best chefs in The Duke city. Beer (18 taps) and wine (around 40 varieties) will be available in January. You don't want one of his exceptional burgers without a good craft beer, so wait. But go there today. And tomorrow. And call me -- I'll go with you. We went to High Point Grill for 1st time today for lunch. Wow our food was fantastic. I had the chicken philly and my wife had pork belly tacos. Our friend had a sunrise burger. Food was very delicious and filling. Service was great. Rarely these days when a waitress remembers the orders she took, but our waitress remember all the side dishes, remembered the chili on the side, and brought the chips before the entrees as requested. Meal was absolutely perfect and we will be back. Highly recommend. read more

I don't remember exactly how long the drive was to the old Mariposa location, but every time I sat down with that red chile crusted burger and green chile cheese fries, it felt worth it. I repeatedly told friends it was one of the best burgers available and they needed to experience it for themselves. When the new location opened up, I was excited that I'd be able to get such a delicious burger with a much more reasonable drive. Although the service was still speedy and friendly, everything but the pickles was underwhelming. That mysterious and delicious crust on the burger? Gone. The moist and flavorful patty? Gone. The perfectly balanced and crisp fries? Gone. I hope this is just growing pains associated with the new location opening up. I'll wait a few months and try again. As much as I want to see the restaurant succeed, I won't be recommending it to anyone in the near future. And yes, this is the sunrise burger but I substituted the red chile crusted patty. read more

The vibe was very comfortable and inviting. There was so much to choose from in the menu but my boyfriend and I ended up getting the wings and the trio dip for an appetizer. They were both so delicious!!! I ended up getting campfire burger and I loved the grilled onions on it so good. My boyfriend got the fillet Philly cheese sandwich and he liked it but since we got full off of the appetizers we had to take our meals home which was a treat. Our server was so nice and gracious and on top of it. Everyone there is pretty nice. I would definitely come back again. read more

Overall not a bad place, the food was subpar. Nothing special about it just simple american bar food. No big variety on the menu mostly burgers, wings, and sandwiches. They are seriously understaffed and this causes a long wait time for food. The restaurant could use a nice facelift, broken tables and chairs look tore up.....the staff is super nice and attentive even though they are slammed! I would return simply for the quality of service. read more

Come in for lunch for the first time and enjoyed my experience. My wife had a craving for a Burger and they didn't disappoint. The burger was so big my wife commented that it would be something Shaggy and Scooby would enjoy. Just a good burger cooked perfectly, and the fries were great. Probably some of the best I've had in a while. The service was also really good. I will be back! read more

Waitress Nikki. Didn't tell us about any specials until we overheard the specials from another waitress at another table and then asked Nikki about the specials. One of us ordered the special, a Reuben. Unfortunately, it was reported to be "stringy" and dry. It could have used sauce. Wouldn't order it again. I ordered the chicken avocado salad and an order of fries. The salad was amazingly tasty and the honey mustard was YUM! The smallest order of fries is HUGE! Could easily feed 3 people. The fries were delicious! Dessert was the lava cake. Definitely recommend! Moist, flavorful and worth every penny. Third person ordered a Philly Mac. When I asked what dish the picture was of on the menu, Nikki told us not was a stock photo and wasn't of any of their dishes. I have been into High Point three times now and am excited to write this. Each time I've been in I have ordered something different and all of them were delicious. The first time in I had one of the burgers which was large and cooked exactly how I asked. I did get a side salad which was a good portion but it did have a little too much dressing for my taste. The second time I was in I ordered the steak tacos, I was a bit nervous because I didn't know exactly what kind of taco style they might go for but they were large, more american style tacos and were quite good! I wouldn't order them though if you are looking for authentic street style tacos. The most recent time I was in I got the high point mac which was really good, the steak on top was cooked perfectly to my liking and had a great char flavor on the outside. The cheese on the mac is silky and rich and not at all artificial tasting. One thing that really sticks with me from this restaurant are their hot wings. My boyfriend and I have ordered them twice now, both times with their buffalo sauce which they called the bang sauce, and they have been great both times. Good wing size, crispy and super saucy. Two of the three nights I have been in were Fridays and they do get busy but the staff never seemed overwhelmed or inattentive. The only real qualm I have is that it is pretty pricy "bar" food but the quality is there and the portions are large so it doesn't bother me enough to lower my rating. Overall I will be returning and recommending to others. read more

I must admit- I tried High Point when they first opened and had a horrible experience. It took me a couple years of hearing good reviews to take a risk but I'm glad I did! The burgers are well seasoned and the Mac and cheese is delicious. But surprisingly I love their chicken Caesar salad the most! House made croutons, yummy dressing and good portion size... it's a great meal when you don't want the heavier meals they are most known for. Love this place! read more

We tried this place out and the food was pretty good, but the service was a different story. The hostess seemed like she was in a bad mood and had a scowl on her face even when we first walked in. She had a bad attitude when we had simple questions about the menu. There was alot of tension in the air in that place. And I noticed the employees there were talking bad about some of the customers in the restaurant and weren't very good at hiding it. It just seemed like a negative environment. While we were bummed that there was no dine in eating...we were pleasantly surprised with how well they packaged our to go order to keep it fresh. The woman working the front counter was great! The only negative was that our fries were definitely not fresh. They had for sure been sitting up on the line for awhile as we started eating them as soon as we got into the car and they were already soggy so it was not from being in a take out container :( Every else was really good. read more

Delicious! A hidden gem but worth the chance walking in. They seem to specialize in burgers and Mac and cheese and they do both really well. Let's talk about that Mac and cheese! I feel like I am always searching for the perfect Mac and cheese and I have finally found it. Deliciously mixed with spicy green Chile, this took it over the top with the tenderloin. I found myself wondering why I even got the email if this was true. Needless to say the food came out really fast. I thought well that's good at least. The presentation was better than the experience. The cheese on the queso fries was pretty skimpy. There were way more fries than cheese which was disappointing. The burger I wasn't a fan of either. It needed more cheese and the stackers sauce tasted strange like it a chipotle sauce it wasn't the same as I recalled. I'm sad to say this is the second location I've had a bad experience with. It's really disappointing because I really loved this place. I guess I'll have to stick to the central food hall because so far that's the only location that hasn't disappointed me like this yet.

I peruse the menu, another customer drops their shake. Gonna be longer. That's fine, go help them. "No, I can take your order REALLY FAST." Well, I was looking at the menu, but cool to be rushed. I remember when the young lady that used to work there was at the counter. 6-8 people in line, greeted with a smile and Hi! Welcome in! There was a longer wait, but it was ok, because the service was good, and so was the food. Today? I'll never return. I spent over $15.00 including a credit card surcharge (a business owner that wants to take credit cards but can't be bothered to be a business owner and pay their bills.) I left a $5 cash tip - I figured I'd the business owner can't pay the 3% on a bad merchant account, they most likely aren't paying the staff livable wages... I sat down and put my gear down, and waited... for about 15 minutes, before this garbage salad that was falsely advertised as having toppings and 3 sliced chick'n strips. The entire salad didn't fill the bowl.? On the bottom were less than a teaspoon of diced tomatoes. In the entire salad there was ONE "fried onion." The lettuce was chopped like slop, there was barely enough chick'n to call it 1.5 slices. Absolute trash. For 15$ I ate my salad, listening as Morticia Addams' understudy pleasantly said good bye, have a nice day, et cetera to the customers who were leaving. I got up, threw my trash, walked out. Silence: The whole time I was in there, a cheap speaker was streaming some crappy 90s "radio friendly hip hop." When my salad was brought to me, even after explaining it's very hard to eat, or carry , a salad on a motorcycle, it arrived in a to-go/carry out, lid is RIGHT THERE,.Morticia helpfully pointed it out, a subtle hint that I wasn't a welcome guest. If you've never been in an establishment where the grease smell and smoke is visibly accumulating in the air, you know it's quite distracting from a dining experience. It was so smoky inside. I actually caught myself blinking my eyes to see if it was just my vision being blurry or if it was the room. Our food was fine, the pork belly was a standout. Otherwise, I'm not sure I need to come here again. I wish that they would get a better handle on service timing, because that seems to be an ongoing issue.

I liked the meal, and it was enough to bring half of the sandwich home for lunch the next day. The other two ordered the Crispy Pork Belly & Tomato Jam flat bread. One liked it, the other was just okay with it. Two of us ordered sangria. It was white, which came as a surprise to us. It was less sweet than we prefer. Another in our group ordered a mocktail and quite liked it. Got a second one and I don't believe they charged for the refill. Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of it. It might sound like I have too many issues to give a 4-star rating, but I stand by it. The amience was nice. The wait staff was pleasant. The menu was creative. I'll definitely go back.
