The past few times, we have been greeted and had our order taken by a young man (Calvin), he is what prompted me to write this review. I would put this place a notch below other California-style burrito places like 360 Degree Burritos and Baja Fresh. The last few burritos I've had have been super-salty for some reason and difficult to finish. It's pretty busy, though, which may speak to the lack of other decent choices in the area. read more

My first time coming to a High Tech Burrito. My daughter ate at one in Alamo with our nanny and she kept asking me to take her again because she loved it. Once I saw the danville location(close to us) I was excited to try it. The food was great, we ordered a steak burrito with teriyaki sauce and a chicken burrito. These burritos are so big I couldn't finish mine. The salsa had a great flavor too. The reasoning for the 4 stars is the cleanliness of the place. No one was in there eating and all the tables were empty but dirty with old food from the past customers. I saw many opportunities where one of the employees could have cleaned them off. I recently returned to the Danville location and I'm pleased to say that my experience was a 180 from my last visit. The same two employees that were there the previous time helped me this time as well. They were both helpful, friendly and kind. I used to love this place when it was in downtown Pleasanton. I hadn't been for a long time so decided to go while in Blackhawk and was excited about going again. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The place has changed a lot. It used to be a great mexican place with delicious burritos (my favourite being the surf and turf), but they seem to have really rebranded as a sort of hipster burrito and salad place (they had avocado salads, sushi burritos, etc). I didn't try any of that stuff so I can't speak on that, but I did find my burrito was not as good as they used to be, with far less flavour and fewer spices. It's also got expensive and they even charge extra if you want salsa, which at most mexican places is free of charge with the purchase of a meal. My burrito was fine, just disappointing considering this place used to be my favourite. To add, the girl that served me was incredibly unfriendly and not particularly polite. read more

back in the day before the big boom of burrito shops this was a good bet for a good burrito but those day are long gone my friends! this place has become the worst of all places to get a burrito. the food is very overpriced and just tastes like crap! i love a good bbq chicken burrito but the high tech ya-yoo burrito made me feel like i was eating my own vomit. what in the hell kind of bbq sauce do they use? if you even want to call it that. it was pretty much ketchup and hickory smoke. oh it's so terrible. now i love food and i can usually finish something i may not enjoy but this burrito was like torture. take my advice and try chipotle or baja fresh if you want a much better option for a california style burrito. read more

I placed an order online for 6 items. The salad comes with guacamole. On one of the burritos I added guacamole and sour cream. My husband picked up the order on his lunch break while at work. I had our baby in the car. We met at a family member's house to eat lunch together. Upon inspecting the food we found that the salad was missing the standard guacamole and the burrito was missing the sour cream and guacamole that we paid for. All in all we are probably talking $3.50. Not a big deal. However, logistically it was not possible for us to go back to Hi Tech to request the guacamole and sour cream. So I called when I got home to see if they could refund the amount back to our credit card or email a voucher for a free burrito or something. The first time I called I was placed on hold by Vicki where I waited 10 minutes until I hung up and called again. Vicki answered again. I explained the situation and she didn't seem to care at all. I asked what she could do to make the situation right and she said she would have to call her supervisor. She took my number and said they would call me. This was on Monday 8/7/17. It is now Friday 8/11/17 and I have yet to receive a callback. Do not go here. Terrible service and the food isn't even that good. read more

This is hit or miss. I appreciate the opportunity to try interesting flavors, but I wish they had the fundamentals of a cohesive burrito down better. Rice isn't too good, beans are just okay, and grilled chicken lacks flavor. I understand wanting it to sometimes be more bland for the alternative flavors, like curry and Thai, but then you should have a sauce or spice for a straightforward burrito... so that it doesn't lack a basic flavor profile. read more

This location used to be pretty good. I always get the bean and cheese burrito. It's a pretty hard recipe to screw up I would think. After a while I noticed the cheese started getting a little sparse. I started ordering extra cheese thinking it was just me. However it seems that whenever I order extra I get none. Either their system has a glitch or someone doesn't speak enough English to recognize the word "extra". I even reported it to who I believe was the manager. My order that day had no cheese. I'm sorry, but what the hell? Last time it came out ok but about halfway through I got a bite that tasted like a cigarette butt. Not that I've ever tasted one but that's what came to mind. This time was the last straw. As usual barely any cheese when I asked for extra, and I had to spit out multiple grains of rice and beans because they were crunchy---as in not cooked crunchy. I have just moved from San Francisco to Dublin. I've been in search for a decent burrito place and so far nothing compares to SF's. This place had by far the worst burrito I have ever had. I had a steak burrito which had nothing but fillers (rice and beans) and the steak was tough as nails. I was expecting better since they were proud to name their Angus beef. First of all, when my husband tried to order two burritos, they asked " him whole wheat or a bowl? " He said he didn't want a bowl or whole wheat. They told him they were out of flour tortillas!!!! I like the freshness of the food and the fact that I can get a healthy conscious burrito bowl (grilled chicken, lettuce, black beans, brown rice and salsa) for 600 calories! The service is friendly and quick - although it seems like a bit of a revolving door with regards to staff. My only negative comment is that I have to be very specific about what I want and double check my order as I have had a couple of mishaps (hot salsa instead of mild. Sour cream when I said no sour cream.) Other than that it's a quick, hot and healthy lunch at an affordable price! I'm glad that we have that option here in Blackhawk. read more
