We live in LA but were in Long Beach for a concert and were very happy we landed at Higher Taste. The Ahimsa burger was incredibly delicious! We also shared the Thai Temple Bowl which was also delicious. I don't know how they make that tofu but we loved it. That was plenty of food for 2 people, but then we got a raw cinnamon roll and it was very strange but very tasty. The ordering was lengthy as each of us had to order from the one digital pad and people were waiting to get to the one pad which is a little.....annoying, I hate to say. We rang the bell and yelled to get a person out in front to answer questions and she was super nice, and delivered our food timely and nicely. I get that they need to keep overhead down, but ordering from a real person is so much more engaging and enjoyable and everybody knows that the experience counts a lot.

Higher Taste is 100% Vegan! I got the Ahimsa Burger and my parents and I shared a peanut butter cookie. The cookie stole the show- I could not believe how GOOD it was. The burger was good too, and I was impressed by the quality bread! Some part of the burger tasted like it had mint in it, which was odd, and unique, but it worked! So food was definitely a 5/5!!!! The one worker we saw was doing a great job helping everyone out. It is also self-order on an iPad, but she was able to come out and answer an ingredient question we had. I'm not sure why, but despite ordering "for here" (eating in) we were still served single use plates/bowls/cups/utensils/napkins. That was a bummer because it's so wasteful! It was extremely hot inside too, I honestly thought I was getting a fever until I commented on the temperature and my family said it was really hot too. As soon as we stepped outside, the outside temperature was much cooler! I wish the decorative plants were real, they were very obviously fake. Good and service were great, but there are some spots for room for improvement in the dining experience (mode of serving, indoor temperature, decorations/look).

Really bright and charming spot for a laidback meal. We had the spicy ranch chikn burger which was very filling, but i would recommend getting it with no cheese as it is a bit overpowering (this coming from someone who loves cheese). The crunchwrap supreme was so crispy and textural, bursting with flavor. The tortilla chips were fresh and cripsy and the accompanying sauce was spicy like chipotle, but thicker. FYI there is a 2.9% gratuity charge on all orders.

Their food is really good. Their cheesecake is simply scrumptious. (Don't compare to the dairy version of cheesecake, come on we are vegans for a reason!) Hemp Kale Bowl was also very tasty, loved the tempeh too. Their staff is always amazing and friendly. The only disappointment was mindless usage of plastics everywhere including throw away water cups. They have done nothing to reduce plastic waste nor do they have recycling bins!

Got the 'Purple Dragon' to-go and was disappointed it didn't have goji berries as mentioned in the menu, which was the primary reason I ordered it. Toppings were light for the price. Seemed more like a 16 oz than a 24 oz. Probably will just make one myself next time. The guy working there seemed like he really didn't want to be there.

A delicious vegan restaurant with lots of seating inside. Self-serve water station and easy to order electronic system at the counter. Of course you can always ask one of the employees if you have any questions about the menu. The food is (still) great and the Vietnamese Spring Rolls are still my fav! Crunchy and fresh. I just love the freshness of the vegetables. The Thai peanut sauce is a great accompaniment. In addition to ordering our favorite bowls we also ordered an Ahisma burger and an oh-so-delicious protein power shake! I am definitely going to order that again and again!

Five stars for the amazing message the owner sent me!!! I truly look forward to trying another crunch wrap and chicken tenders. We all have our off days, however it's so super duper rare nowadays to have people that actually take responsibility for it. Truth be known I wasn't having the greatest day either and after reading the owners private message I felt bad about my review. I don't want to hurt anyone's business. The customer service and love I felt thru his message uplifted me more than any meal ever could have. So support this business please...because owners like this are rare and a gem to the community. Especially in this horrible trying times where it seems we are all so angry and disconnected. Peace and blessings to anyone that reads this...

Açaí Bowl , soooo delicious 10/10

Tried their Açaí Bowl and it was delicious, the base was so thick and creamy , topping are also fresh and crisp.

I came here randomly and decided to try it out although I am not vegetarian and vegan. I ordered the Thai Temple Bowl which was amazing. The sauce that comes with it is delicious. Great location. Parking might be difficult to find depending on the time your are coming.

I got the curry bowl on CSULB campus. It was that good that I had to buy 2! It was only $7.95. So blown away and so healthy! The staff were so friendly. I loved how there were three different tents were aligned together and you choose between açaí bowls, vegan bowls, and coffee options.

This is one of my favorite places in Long Beach! I was feeling really lethargic and wanted a good pick me up for the evening. The employee working there was really sweet and helpful. She recommended the Hemp Kale Bowl and I'm so glad I got it! It was definitely hearty and filled with some great plant powered protein. I particularly loved the combination of the hemp and tempeh. The sauce was so creamy and had a lovely taste coming from the ginger. I'm honestly not the biggest veggies fan, but I liked how well everything was seasoned and cooked. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance and I particularly loved the comfy seating with pillows. I felt so calm and relaxed there, it was a great break from a busy day!

First time in here and won't be my last if I'm in there area and looking for some vegan food however it won't be my GO TO option. The environment was very colorful, zen and welcoming. I enjoyed that. The employees all had smiles and were really friendly. The place was fairly clean and organized. As far as the food goes, I didn't get any pictures because after waiting all that time to receive it my son and I were too hungry to stop for a photo lol We ended up buying a Ahisma burger, fries, and the hot tenders. The tenders were honestly some of my favorite vegan tenders, they were crispy on the outside but super soft on the inside and didn't taste like beyond or impossible meat. It's the best I've ever had and when we're talking about the barbecue sauce. It is on another level. The burger was lackluster, very grainy, drying and lacked flavor. My son didn't wanna eat it and after I took a bite of it I understood why. Although I love how it came with mushrooms and the gluten-free bread was so fluffy and yummy so it's not all too bad. Would def not order it again. The fries were pretty good, but extremely thin they reminded me of Shake shack fries. A little oily. No, the star of the show are the desserts because they deserving of a mention. We grabbed the strawberry cheesecake and a cacao and peanut butter that reminded me of Reese's pieces. 10 out of 10 would recommend to everybody. We ended up getting their cookies too and again 10/10! Not too sweet which I love and all made from scratch! If you don't come in for anything, the least you can do is buy a desert they're that good! Mentioned earlier, but the wait times are the main reason why I rated it at four and really wanted it to be a three, but I understand things happen and they did look a little short staffed at the moment. For a burger and fries and desserts that were already made in the fridge. It took us about 35-40 minutes to get our food. I'm a patient man but not everybody else so keep that in mind when you are ordering here it sounds like it's best to order ahead of time then to just walk in and order like we did also be mindful if you have smaller children who aren't as patient. Overall, it was a smooth experience minus the wait time they have plenty of options so I will explore the different burgers and their desserts are rich in flavor.

    Avocado Jalapeno Cheeseburger with coleslaw

avocado jalapeno cheeseburger is sooo good omg! their homemade veggie patty is super flavorful, and the mayo & cheese make it even better. the interior is really cute and kinda hippie vibes, very calm to sit in there and take ur time eating. i dont love the completely self service ordering, but the food did come out very fast and my server was very nice! they also had some raw & cooked desserts that looked delicious

Firstly, since it's all plant-based, I was able to eat literally anything off the menu, which is always delightful. Started the meal with a Tricolore Salad and the Pizza Montanara for appetizers. The Salad was good, best when you can get a bit of every ingredient in each bite. The Pizza Montanara was hotter than magma when we received it, but once it cooled and we were able to tear it into pieces, it was very, very good. These two items themselves would be a great light meal. We had glasses of red wine with the main course, which paired well with the pastas we chose. One Vesuvio, which was really tasty with a little chili heat (not so much so that it made eating it a rough job,) and another pasta dish that I can't recall the name of that was very lemony and cooling. We both shared these dishes and the alternating between the two very different flavor profiles was really fun. The online menu doesn't have these pastas listed in the "Dinner" section, but the in-store menu did. The only thing that was kind of a bummer was that they were out of things like meatballs, olives, and a couple other items, but we were still able to choose dishes that were delicious. The restaurant's vibe is very laidback and like, elevated casual, if that makes sense. They have great little water glasses and everything has a modern feel, from the green decor accents to the fancy pasta forks, which are the first of their kind I've ever seen. The bathroom had a bidet, which was my first experience with the same, and it was cool and fun. Thorough! I laughed at the sticker on the bidet saying it WILL spray you in the face. All in all, this was a fantastic experience. Definitely be patient with finding parking, as we all know how 4th Street is. This will likely become a favorite celebration meal destination.

Visually, the burger was impressive and looked exactly like something you'd want to dig into. However, the salt level was overwhelming to the point where I genuinely could not finish it. What made matters worse was that our server was not attentive with refilling our waters, and when you're working through an extremely salty dish, hydration isn't optional. I left the meal feeling dehydrated and honestly a little frustrated. The bright spot of the visit was the Brussels sprouts, which were genuinely well done and showed some real kitchen care. If I were to return, I'd probably stick to the vegetable sides. For a restaurant with a 4 PM lull and minimal table traffic, there's no excuse for that level of inattentiveness. A simple water refill and a quick check in would have saved the experience. As it stands, the combination of an over salted entrée and absent service made for a tough sell on the value. If you're in the area craving a burger, you might want to save your money and head down the street to Louis Burger instead. Ellie's may shine in other areas; I've heard good things about the pasta, but this particular visit missed the mark.

THIS PLACE RIGHT HERE!!! All surrounding brunch spots... meet your match…read more This family-owned gem is about to take over the downtown brunch scene. My family and I stopped in on a Saturday around 10 a.m. The place was already packed with a line out the door, but don't let that scare you. The wait moved fast, and the staff ran that dining room like a well-oiled machine while somehow making you feel like you were a guest in their home. You order at the front, grab your number, then impatiently wait for greatness. Right away, the baristas were brewing, shaking, and stirring up some of the best drinks I've had in a long time. Matcha, mochas... Starbucks could NEVER. I ordered the banana strawberry matcha and an iced mocha. While I was at the counter, I obviously had to grab pastries because... self-control wasn't invited. The display alone had me ready to order 14 of 'em. I went with the tiramisu cookie, guava croissant, and strawberry cream croissant. Now for the main event. There were four of us, so naturally we ordered enough food for a small village. Savory pancakes, a bulgogi breakfast burrito with fries, steak and eggs, another breakfast burrito, and the Thai pizza. Yep. We came to eat. While we waited, I took in the atmosphere. The entire place felt warm and inviting. Sunlight poured through the windows, giving it the feeling of eating breakfast on your family's back patio. Just laughter, clinking forks, happy conversations, and those little "mmm" moments happening at every table. That's always a good sign. The Thai pizza hit the table first. Fresh out of the oven and straight to Flavor Town. The crust had to be handmade because there was no way something that good came from a freezer. The basil, sausage, and everything working together made this anything but your average pizza. It was different--in the best way possible. Five minutes later... Gone. Next up were the savory pancakes. At first glance, they looked simple. Then I took a bite. That little stack of fluffy pancakes topped with berry butter didn't even need syrup. THANK YOU for understanding that pancakes don't need to cover an entire plate to be memorable. These were soft, flavorful, perfectly sweet, and somehow disappeared before I could fully appreciate everything else on the plate. Speaking of everything else... The steamed eggs were light and fluffy. The hash browns? Listen... Whatever they're doing to those potatoes back there needs to be studied. They had the perfect golden crunch with this buttery goodness that made me question every hash brown I've ever eaten. Fried in beef tallow? Magic? I don't know. I just know I wanted another order immediately. The bacon deserved its own shoutout too. Fresh, crispy, and full of flavor--not bacon that was cooked at 5 a.m. and has been sitting around waiting for someone's Grand Slam order. This bacon had integrity. Then came the steak and eggs. The steak was tender, juicy, and seasoned perfectly. I had absolutely no interest in sharing. But somehow the potatoes still managed to steal part of the spotlight. Again... Those potatoes. Give me 14 of those babies to go. The breakfast burritos were packed with flavor, but those crispy potatoes inside gave them the texture that took them from good to unforgettable. And that green aioli? Bottle that stuff up. Immediately. This place just gets it. They understand that quality matters. Every ingredient tasted intentional, every dish felt like someone actually cared before it hit the table. Too many restaurants are cutting corners these days, and I will happily support businesses that refuse to compromise. Worth every penny. This is hands down one of the best brunch spots I've been to in a long time, and I already can't wait to come back. Do yourself a favor and go. Just don't blame me when there's a line.

Of course it was rain delayed so more time to enjoy food and drinks. Also it was happy hour and taco Tuesday all at the same time. As the game was happening, one of the tequila sponsors was there offering deals. Shot and a jersey. Tony took care of us that night and he was amazing. Made sure that we got everything we needed. Very sweet as well. Happy hour menu offered a good amount of items for a great deal. As well as draft beer and cocktails. Regular menu is great as well which we've had before. Food, an order of the tostada both with shrimp and aguachili. Served with two small tostada and handful of crevice on top. Both were quite tasty and very well flavored in the juice. Also two of the street tacos with birria. They were quite small but did have a major punch of flavor to it. And well priced at 2.50 a piece. Of course the crinkle cut loaded fries with added carne asada. Seemed like it was a popular item as every table had it. It was good but a little skimpy with the topping. Lastly the chicken wings, lemon pepper flavor. Six piece tossed in the sauce. It was good but way too salty for my liking. We still enjoyed everything we had. As we got the shot with the jersey earlier, the person who was affiliated with the sponsor brand was walking around with more shot. I must say, it does hit the spot big time...lol... The crowd was lively with everyone all there for the same reason. The game and good company. First time for happy hour and it was nice. We had a great time and everyone working was the sweetest. And Tony was amazing. Took very good care of us.

Popular eatery/ bar located on 4th street in Long Beach - which I think is the downtown area? Or at…read moreleast a very popular area (as evidenced by the extremely hard to find parking) I came here specifically for potato tacos, but there's a pretty extensive menu along with the full service bar. I came here. Also a little later in the evening in the middle of early season Dodgers game. So I sat down at bar table with the some other folks. Nothing brings Angelenos together like a Dodgers game! I had a few beers with my tacos, and the tacos were crispy and delicious. By the end of the game, I was high-fiving with people that I considered strangers to me when the day started. Just a fun, lively vibe here on the weekend evenings with delicious food and beverages.
