Decided to give this place a try. Ordered by phone for pick up. The restaurant has outdoor seating and it is large enough inside to socially distance. Staff was pleasant. I had the Aloha burger and sweet potato fries. My daughter had one of the bowls. Both were large enough portion sizes The pictures do not do it justice. Will definitely go back. read more

When walking into the establishment, the cashier created me with a smile and was courteous. Yet, when I had asked her if she had more water, she mentioned that there was and she would fill it up momentarily. Several minutes passed by, and the container still was not filled. Then, when I asked her co-worker about it who seemed to be her manager, she brushed me off like she had a problem with my question. Then, I see her coworker giving me an awkward look from behind the counter. At this point, I don't even want the water because the level of compassion and rude non-verbal gestures turned me away. read more

I basically order the same thing everytime Im here--spicy ranch burger with sweet potato fries. Idk what they put in that ranch but it's no joke the best vegan ranch on the planet!!! Last time tho I tried the ahimsa burger because the girl at the front suggested it--i think her name was sarah--anyways she told me that was there most popular thing on the menu and DAMN girl! that thing was also fire. really great service and i'm excited to try more things on the menu when i return. thanks sarah!!! read more

Amazing vibe. Smells so good when you walk in, even without the AC hehe. Natural scents and hardworking people. Minor tech issue with card/cash payment, nothing they could not handle. All smiles and HEALTHY food that HELPS the ENVIRONMENT and SAVES ANIMALS. Amazing experience. TL;DR - Amazing food and service. Their entrées and desserts are fantastic! Their employees are super nice. The decor is really beautiful and spiritual. This place has earned me as a loyal customer. I went here for the first time (not my last, that's for sure!) on my birthday this past weekend with my family. There was a little mix up with ordering takeout, where the order didn't go through properly, so when we arrived, it wasn't made yet. So, instead, we ate in their outdoor seating. They did an amazing job with the setup outside. Rather than just an orange plastic barrier with chairs, they constructed a deck in the parking spaces with a beautifully decorated wooden wall. Our food arrived in short order and it was awesome! I ordered the banana flower fish and chips. Since going vegan, fish and chips were one of the few dishes that I still craved and had never found a good substitute for, until now! These were amazing! The batter was perfectly crispy with the texture and flavor that I expect from good fish and chips. And the flower itself was wayyy better than expected. I thought a flower would be weird to eat, but this was a really good substitute for fish. It had a slightly stringy texture but was soft and meaty. It came together to be super nice! The tartar sauce and lemon really brought it all together. The chips were not the main attraction for me, but they held their own, crispy and plentiful! They did what they needed to do. Admittedly the could have been warmer, but that didn't sully the meal one bit. The house made ketchup was super good too! Slightly sweet, thicker than store-bought, it was the perfect companion to the fries. I also got a cookie dough milkshake. To be fair, it is more of a smoothie than a milkshake, since it seems to be made from blended almond milk and ice, rather than ice cream. But with that in mind, it was super tasty. They make their own cookie dough, and boy is it good! Now I want to try their cookies. On the topic of desert, when they heard that it was my birthday, they came out with a slice of raw strawberry chocolate cheesecake and sang me happy birthday! The sentiment and the cake were super sweet. The cheesecake had a decadent crust, luscious strawberry filing, topped with delicious chocolate, nuts and strawberries. It was a perfect birthday gift. If you're near Long Beach or even if you're not so close, it's worth a trip. If you're looking for a vegan restaurant restaurant with beautiful artwork, great employees, tasty food, and as cruelty free as possible, look no further. Ahimsa is the place for you. read more

Be prepared to wait and wait and wait. Ordered on phone, was told it would be 30 min. It has now been 40 min and we are still waiting. We only ever order one thing here, which we really like, but the wait combined with the portion size getting smaller makes me want to find a new place for veggie fried chicken. Btw, it's not crowded here. One table with 6 people, me, and another person waiting. And now we are going on 45min!!! read more

So, I came here with a friend yesterday (Sunday, 7/16/18) and did not have the most friendliest guy working behind the counter taking my order. He never smiled at us and was very lifeless, but nonetheless, took my order. I tipped him $3 off of a $23 total. I found this place to be quite pricey honestly. I ordered a Ahimsa burger (which comes with side tortilla chips & salsa) and a strawberry cheesecake milkshake. I feel like $9 for milkshake was steep! Anyways, we received our food in a timely matter, although it took a little long to receive our shakes. The lady who brought our food over was nice though. I did enjoy my burger, and found it to be fresh & tasty. My shake was pretty good considering I have never had a vegan milkshake (they use soy apparently). Not too sweet, but just right. My meal was decent though; stole some vegan nachos from my friend and they were better! The new guy who switched shifts with the guy who took our order was so much nicer though! He walked by our table and asked how everything was tasting and overall just seemed so much more lively and ready to already some happiness! LOL. Also, the bathrooms needed some cleaning and restocking though for sure! Will be back :) read more

I walk and ordered ... the people was nice. So,I try to sit at a table but, four of the tables was dirty.I went to sit down and four of the tables was Dirty. I asked could you clean the table please. I get my food cauliflower appetizer I receive 5 to 6 pieces of cauliflower for 9$ and meatless hot wings. No seasoning on either dish. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. I like the food at this place, but the service here is always terrible and the food takes a very, very long time to be ready, just a good one. And there goes more than 40 minutes. Update to prior review: Service and food were all fabulous. The Nashville hot chik'n strios, the regular chik'n strios, and the mozzarella sticks were all fresh and crispy with a good amount of sauce to accompany. The nachos are always good. New item chickpea tuna on a bagel was good, and a welcome addition to the menu. Curry bowl was tasty and the curry was delicious with a crispy flatbread. The chilled açaí bowl was a welcome addition on a hot evening and highly recommend. The restroom has a new seat (hurray), was clean, and the restaurant was immaculate. Service was en pointe and Sunny really took care of us. Also, if the cookies are there, don't pass them up. The cookies are a good size and hefty indeed. Thank you, Radhi, for welcoming us back and sharing the fabulous vegan meals. I'll be back again in a few weeks to celebrate a friend's birthday and she is excited to for the experience of healthy vegan food options. Higher Taste is back on my YES! list of go to vegan options. I alao like to have the food delivered when I have a lot of work and can't get away, but I will definitely be coming back again in person. This place is very hit and miss. they are one of the only vegan places that delivers in Long Beach so I guess they have that going for them. Horrible hosts ! Horrible hygiene! Below par food. They did not have utensils and still served soup. I guess they expected us to gulp soup straight out of the bowl. By no utensils I mean literally zero utensils. How long does it take for one of the hosts to run to the nearest Walmart or grocery store to get a few? I ordered ahmisa vegan cafe vía Uber eats. Maybe that was its downfall, probably not tho. I am not one to be too picky with my food, I will always eat my food, that's how I was raised. But the burger I ordered was not good. It had a weird smell that I'd rather not say what it reminded my roommate and I of. I also ordered the cheesecake. The Ubereats app was misleading because I thought it was just going to be regular cheesecake, but it was Pumpkin! I hate pumpkin. So that was also a let down. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but it just wasn't good. If people can recommend a different dish maybe I will try it again. read more

The food here is good, which is why I continued to order, even given the mess ups. My partner has never had a problem and loves their food. So, we folks with food allergies need to be extra mindful when ordering. read more

First time here. Ordered takeout. Received notification that order was ready for pickup (after waiting 45minutes), showed up and turns out order is not ready AND they ran out if ingredients. So, they make me wait 15 minutes. I go up to the counter again and guess what? They gave my order to someone else. Frustrating!! Over 1hour from the time I made the order till this! I asked for a refund and left. The clerk at the front was nice and helpful. I won't come back. Waste of time! Update: I contacted grubhub on 6/28/2019 to confirm my refund. The rep called the restaurant and mentioned refund was processed. To expect it back in my account within 3-5 business days. It's been over a week, and NO REFUND ! I contacted GrubHub again and the restaurant NEVER ISSUED THE REFUND! Wow! Can they mess this up even more?! read more

Came here off a friend's recommendation. The teriyaki bowl had just the right flavor - & still fresh tasting which I love... I also got the date shake. Sooo creamy & just the right amount of sweet. 10/10 hands down. Taylor, the young woman who helped me, was super kind and accommodating. Food is always flavorful, creatively-made,thoughtful in presentation BUT a 20-min.wait for a salad is a long time.It actually is more than 20 min.The lovely cashier was apologetic because it iis just her -cashier,server ..and she makes the acai bowls too and I feel her.Tables were waiting to be cleared-4 of the said tables when I checked the place and oh there are stacks of plate behind the cashier/counter too!.The cashier/server is doing her best but she looked overwhelmed (she was so sweet though,poor thing).There is only 1 person making food in the kitchen. This place is SUCH a find!!!!! I literally drive down from Los Angeles for the Ahimsa Burger and fresh cut french fries!!!! WOW! Not to mention the Ketchup they make in house- SOOOOO YUMMY! Pro tip - make the Ahimsa burger without thousand island and add BBQ sauce instead to the burger....mmmm....my mouth is watering just writing this review. I have been "good" on occasion and skipped the fries (as hard as that is) and had the side salad with house (sesame ginger?) dressing and that is also delish! Usually when I make this healthier choice, then I cannot resist ordering a homebaked large vegan chocolate chip cookie, chocolate brownie cookie or peanut butter cookie - all 3 are really great. Overall this place is 5 stars! Super yummy vegan food with really fresh ingredients that you can definitely taste and made with care & love - just a really satisfying experience. read more

Visiting on vacation, we stumbled upon Ahimsa Vegan Cafe. It seemed slow and it was a quiet cafe but the food was phenomenal. I got the southern fried chick'n bbq burger and it was really great! The chicken was crispy and tasty, as I type this out I'm craving another. My girlfriend got the bacon chick'n club and fell in love with the sandwich. Between the two, she HIGHLY recommends her sandwich and encourages others to try it!!! Side note: the BEST thousand island sauce!!! Ahimsa vegan cafe is a must if you are around!!!! read more

Addiction? HEAVILY. Mind blown, kahPOW! Wait, wait...wait. Let me start from the beginning. I visited this little tribal looking food joint a few times when it was called, Zephyr. The food was OK (back then), I tried the jalapeño avocado burger and it was alright, it came with a side of fresh pickles and carrots but it was nothing to write home about. Zephyr was ahead of its time with the whole vegan food revolution. It wasn't as popular back then, definitely not as it is now. Anyhow. I'll be honest... I NEVER started frequenting this place until it became Ahimsa. Boy I'm glad I DID! At first, I was a bit hesitant because I didn't know if the change was for better or worse. I ended up at Ahimsa "by chance" or by a perfectly designed twist of fate, perhaps. ;) Either way I'm proud to say one of the BEST VEGAN restaurants is a hidden gem located in Long Beach! ALL food here is immensely flavorful, nutritional and I don't recommend only vegans try it. This place is a must try for ANY foodie! Rainbow Wrap- 110% fan of this! Filling, healthy, refreshing. Delicious! Avocado Jalapeño Burger- Mouth watering good! Can't beat this! Every non vegetarian I have brought this to has instantly fallen in love! Avocado Jalapeño Sandwich (on pumpernickel bread)- Personal favorite! Got it tempeh instead of the veggie patty. Equally as delicious as the burger if not better! Lemon Herb Burger- Filling and enjoyable but not my favorite thing on the menu as its less flavorful up against the other items on the menu. Still, I encourage you to try it for yourself and form an opinion. Try a bowl, wrap, burger or sandwich here. Blindfold yourself and point at anything on the menu, CANT go wrong here! read more

Came across this joint, after moving to Long Beach two months ago on 1/10/2 around 3:20ish Best Vegan spot I have been to so far. Customer service was excellent, the cashier was very pleasant and patient with me. Immediately greeted me and gave me a welcoming vibe when walking into the establishment. Being my first time at this establishment, my cashier was very informative and friendly while helping me through the menu. I did not feel rushed and I was able to pick out the items of my choosing and got to be completely satisfied with my choices. My food was amazingly, hot and fresh. I ordered: Cauliflower Wings $8.95 Ahimsa Side Salad$4.95 Avocado Jalapeño Cheeseburger $12.95 Ahimsa Burger $12.95 (Wait time 30 minutes) The patties are house made on the spot. One Vesuvio, which was really tasty with a little chili heat (not so much so that it made eating it a rough job,) and another pasta dish that I can't recall the name of that was very lemony and cooling. We both shared these dishes and the alternating between the two very different flavor profiles was really fun. The online menu doesn't have these pastas listed in the "Dinner" section, but the in-store menu did. The only thing that was kind of a bummer was that they were out of things like meatballs, olives, and a couple other items, but we were still able to choose dishes that were delicious. The restaurant's vibe is very laidback and like, elevated casual, if that makes sense. They have great little water glasses and everything has a modern feel, from the green decor accents to the fancy pasta forks, which are the first of their kind I've ever seen. The bathroom had a bidet, which was my first experience with the same, and it was cool and fun. Thorough! I laughed at the sticker on the bidet saying it WILL spray you in the face. All in all, this was a fantastic experience. Definitely be patient with finding parking, as we all know how 4th Street is. This will likely become a favorite celebration meal destination.

The display alone had me ready to order 14 of 'em. I went with the tiramisu cookie, guava croissant, and strawberry cream croissant. Now for the main event. There were four of us, so naturally we ordered enough food for a small village. Savory pancakes, a bulgogi breakfast burrito with fries, steak and eggs, another breakfast burrito, and the Thai pizza. The menu itself is a bit on the higher end, but it's a great spot to split and share. Cesar salad and sourdough are a must! The pizza looked intriguing but we opted for three pasta dishes instead. Fusilli was my favorite, followed by the Cacio e Pepe, and then lemon pasta. I liked the unique noodle options and was satisfied with the dishes. It wasn't the best pasta I've ever had, you're definitely paying for ambiance and the experience. They serve tap water, so we ordered soft drinks and many tables had wine. Since they're so busy, they're constantly bussing your table to encourage you to leave. I don't think this is the best place to catch up with friends. Overall a unique spot in LB!

The staff was incredibly friendly, and the service was excellent from start to finish. We started with the meatball appetizer and the homemade focaccia bread served with their house made butter, both were absolutely delicious! The focaccia was fresh, warm, and so good that we couldn't stop eating it. We also shared the Tavern Burger, a flavorful smash burger cooked perfectly and served with seasoned fries that were crispy and tasty. To top it off, our table shared a large Supreme pizza, which was loaded with toppings and didn't disappoint. Overall, we had a fantastic experience. Great food, outstanding service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It's always nice to support a small, family-owned business that's doing things right. We'll definitely be back! Highly recommend!
