I stopped in for a Brooklyn quality bagel and that is exactly what I received. The selection of spreads was limited to about a few more than a dozen. I was satisfied with my plain bagel with vegetable cream cheese. I noticed that Highway Bagel had a large selection of ready-made sandwiches and wraps making it a very convenient location to pick-up lunch from. There was also an extensive selection of refrigerated drinks with teas and coffees available as well. Highway Bagel is certainly more worthy of three and half stars than just three. read more

We had catered an office party for 50 people. Breakfast and Lunch. HIGHWAY BAGELS provided all the food and we got more than we expected. Food was great. For breakfast we had every kind of fresh bagels with all sorts of toppings for the guests to choose from.. lox, cream cheeses etc, plus home made muffins, pastries, more coffee than we could drink. I really like the bagels at this place, & I really want to give Highway Bagels more stars, but unfortunately I cant because of the customer service. Before I get to the biggest issue, a minor issue that I have is that recently they changed the card purchase minimum from $5 to $10. Realistically, alot of people , like myself go to Highway Bagels for a quick breakfast in the morning, a bagel and a coffee or something along those lines, which is less than $10. No one wants to go there and buy more than they need to to support the card minimum. Its kind of ridiculous. Now to the bigger issue, the customer service. There is one girl that works as a cashier that is super sweet and I wish I knew her name to give her credit but I dont. Im pretty sure there are 2 girls that work as a cashier and the nice one that I am mentioning is the taller one. The other girl however (the shorter one) is extremely rude. She has a very bad attitude and isnt afraid to show that to the customers. Every single time I come on a day that she is working, I have seen her give attitudes to me & other customers for no reason and its very disturbing. Disturbing enough for me to have stopped going to Highway Bagels. I have considered going back but I will only go if she isnt there. I hate walking into an establishment where the employees are miserable & take it out on others. Food quality is important, but customer service is just as important and should be taken considerably !! read more

Counting down the days for this place to go out of business. Food is old, stale or lackluster almost every time. It has progressively become worse over the last 3-4 years and the prices have only gone up. If you can't keep up with rent...Kings Highway will push you out very soon. I have been a customer for a few years and always enjoyed your bagels, but the last few times I have purchased your bagels, they were very different. I don't know if you changed your recipe or your chef, but the bagels got a lot worse. They used to be chewier and just denser on the inside. The bagels here are good, I like their cream cheese selection. Location is very convenient, I stop in here often throughout the day working. I've had their panini and it was really lacking in meat/cheese, I felt like I was eating mostly bread, for the price you pay I was disappointed. I like that they have a variety of items to choose from though (bagels, sandwiches, shakes, salads). Their staff don't seem like the most friendly folks but I'm not going to judge them on that. My biggest grip is their added fees and tax to most items. $2.30 for a medium coffee which is $1.25 from most places in the area. I ordered a BLT on a bagel and the price jumps from $3.90 to $5.25. Most places charge $3.50/$4 for a BLT on a bagel. I feel like most hot foods there are like this, a crazy fee and/or tax gets added on to to everything. I get it, they have rent to pay and probably pay more for running a kosher place. But I feel like there's a lot of price gouging going on here, to squeeze an extra buck here and there from customers. read more

I had started to dislike this place a couple years ago after some bad experiences. However, I am not sure if it's new management or what, but they've figured it out! Wait times are much shorter, they've got seating and the restaurant is generally clean. They have also got a larger selection of cream cheeses and other bagel assortments as well. Will never go there again. I went there once and the person who helped me was extremely rude, but the food was ok (albeit, overpriced) and its in close proximity to where I lived, so I went again, although I was completely turned off after my first visit. Then, a completely different person was extremely rude, enough that I will never go there again. He didn't listen to anything I said, then started arguing and accusing me of not correctly telling him my order. Which, even if that were true, still a completely inappropriate reaction. But,I did tell him, and he was not listening. The food is standard deli food, but extremely overpriced. I got one sandwich and a soda for 11 dollars. They charge close to a dollar for every completely normal sandwich item, you expect come with a sandwich on top of their already inflated price. I don't understand this place at all, I worked in the food industry from 16 to 23... I know how to run a store. But every time I come into this store I tip them even though the service is ass. Normally i place my order on grubhub for pick up and go in. These people could never find the bag that says Kendell in bold letters that is printed on a receipt. I end up waiting 22 fucking minutes for an order placed and ready but cant read kendell. The final straw was when I placed an order for three egg and cheese bagels. I waited 38minutes for that. Now I understand they are busy but how the fuck do 5 people order behind me (except the person that ordered the blt on a everything bagel...that takes 3 mins to make) get their complicated breakfast orders before me? How the fuck do i wait 38 minutes for three fucking sandwiches? Seriously 3 sandwiches 38 minutes? To top it off everyone is getting their sandwiches and i ask are those three things in foil mine by chance, they tell me it is not. But as i keep staring at the three sandwiches it just so happens to magically become mine. No system at all in that store no sanitary standards are in place in that store. I love highway bagel. The workers are the sweetest always running to help you as best as they can. They have a large selection of fresh made bagels, tons of variety, love it! They have coffee, its not the best, but i like it as much as i like Dunkin Donuts coffee. They have a huge freezer filled with paninnis, wraps, heroes, etc. But you can also make you're own. They have another large freezer filled with loads of soft drinks and juices. They have some seating in the back, like 3 tables. But this is a more of a run in and out kind of place. It's a little uncomfortable to be smushed sitting in the back there. The wraps were fresh and delicious. We had an assorrment of them and the broccoli rabe in the veggie wrap was delicious... not to mention the chicken ceasar wrap had great flavor also. One of the slowest delis I've ever been to. It's the only one in years I've had to leave with my order still being made 15 mins later. Justa a wrap too. I was one of two people in line. I placed my order within one two minutes of entering. Then one of the gentleman who took my order went to the back and then came out. Coffee is generally fresh, you get to make it yourself which to me is always a plus. Bagels are always delicious as is the cream cheese, I occasionally get a salad which is also very good a bit small but good price. Nice selection of baked goods ranging from cookies, muffin croissants and more. Open 24/7. I worked in the city for a long time so the prices here to me are just fine. Only issues I have with this place is customer service, very rarely does anyone smile. Sometimes when I order I feel like I'm a bother to the staff. I don't go into Highway Bagels often and when I do, I'm immediately reminded why I don't frequent this place even though it's right by my house. Everyone is crowded around the counter ordering or waiting for an order. A sign that says "ORDER HERE" (that's not in front of the door) and "PICK UP HERE" would be great. Because it seems like no matter how patiently you're standing there, if someone else walks in and chats up the (ONE) guy who's working behind the counter (while the rest are kind of idling around or sauntering in and out of doors), they'll get their order in before you. I have to be pushy and aggressive for things like parking and seats on the train and everything else is this city, I don't need the headache just to get a bagel. I just wish I knew the magic place to stand to have my order taken so I don't have to feed the meter like I'm about to sit down for a meal just to get a bagel. read more

GENERALLY consistent service. The only thing inconsistent is the amount of cream cheese they put on the bagel. Some give you a ton, some spread it on like butter on toast. I've been ordering here for more than a year and honestly, I'm never 100% satisfied with my food. I keep ordering here because I haven't found a bodega to order a bacon, egg, and cheese which is not supposed to be more than $5. There have been multiple times at my job that we've placed orders to be delivered and there is always something missing. The omelettes look like they only contain one egg. Yes it's a bagel place but if you're going to provide other foods on the menu, at least make sure they are being done right! My co-workers and I are not ordering from here anymore. I really like Highway Bagels and try to come by whenever I am in the neighborhood. The place is very clean, and the pastries, salads, foods etc are always well stocked and neatly organized in their displays. When I came here with my husband it was a bit late and we were very tired. The two young guys working the counter were patient, helpful and friendly which we really appreciated, especially at that time of night. They are probably why we remember the place when were around. I had a pizza bagel which wasn't all that, and my husband had some roast beef sandwich which he really enjoyed, except that his order was suppose to come with caramelized onions and they gave him raw onions. He didn't complain because the service was pleasant otherwise, but that oversight was a little frustrating since he confirmed with them when ordering that the onions would be cooked. We also ordered a red velvet cupcake which was really good! The frosting was yummy! I just had a horrible experience at your establishment on Kings Highway. The young man he's I don't even know his name but he is tall he's young he has a mustache and quite frankly he was a very rude. I called to place a pickup order was left on hold for 8 minutes when I walked into the establishment it was empty I addressed the gentleman at the front desk his name was Jesus. He said that he does not pick up the phone he said that the person that does pick up the phone might have went to lunch or went home or some horrible excuse. While I was making this complaint the gentleman that I referenced prior told me that if I don't like it being on hold I can place the order online, granted that's possible but it's just good customer service to pick up the line and say I'm sorry for the hold do you mind continuing to hold...I will get back with you shortly. In the end I did not order here I will never order here again. I have ordered here and have had experiences but this is one of this one takes the win and unfortunately I won't be returning. I hope the owner read this message and takes heed to my experience and I could only imagine it hasn't happened to me it has happened to other people.
