    Lalo Margarita!

The food was delish! Started with the shareable tomato pie and the fresh ingredients and homemade crust was out of this world. I could have just had that as my entire meal! Also shared the artichoke dip and spinach sandwich which used Abby Jane sourdough ...it was a huge sandwich and sharing is recommended! It was so savory and presentation was wonderful. The margarita with Lalo tequila was outstanding! The service was spot on! We had such a patient server who was thoughtful and great recommendations. He was attentive and made sure we always had our water glass full. What a beautiful restaurant...cool and swanky vibe. Comfortable seating and I loved the wall paper. Also had beautiful outdoor seating. Comfortable atmosphere!

If you want a very fancy meal in Wimberley at stratosphere prices, this is your place. I had the chicken fried bison which was tasty and the margarita on the rocks which was brilliant. But I was highly disappointed with my date's scallops. Basically two that were filleted in half after cooking so it appeared to be four. I don't regret trying it, but I'm likely not going to be a regular unless someone else chooses spots. I'll willingly go, but there are better spots in town.

The first thing I loved was the parking. We didn't have to look far or walk a long distance. The lot was big enough for several cars. Upon entering I was a little shocked at how chic and elegant this tiny place was. It appears the place use to be a bank or something the lock boxes at the front hall are eye catching and add an artistic touch. While waiting for a table we were able to sit in the bar/lounge area and order drinks. We were seated shortly after in a small dining area. The seating is tight so I wouldn't recommend a large party, it got very loud. We were dining for brunch so it was busy. The food came out hot and fresh. The drinks were A+ and while the waitstaff was young, they were all well trained and gave wonderful service. I'd recommend coming for a girls day or a romantic weekend getaway.

The staff was great ; the drinks were great and the food was really good. I wish we would have come back for brunch but dinner was definitely a good idea. Highly recommended.

So...I can only give a review based on what happened to us. We went in for a table on a Sunday (we being myself, boyfriend, and our dog). I was told by greeter they would check for available tables. She came back and said there was something outside and the table was being cleared. She came back several minutes later and then advised it would be a 40 minute wait. I asked why and she said there were no outdoor tables open. I reminded her that she said one was being cleared and she kind of ignored me. What made it worse was that she assumed we should be outside. We have a service dog, and are allowed to dine indoors. She didn't even bother. I know I could have spoken up but I was so annoyed and flabbergasted that I just walked away. No organization or regard for customers. Perhaps we weren't deemed good enough? That's the feeling this kid's vibe was throwing off. Come to find out it's not even locally owned (based out of Houston). Boo.

Wonderful experience and food. The service was prompt and knowledgeable. The food was delicious. The oysters and fish are my top rated items. Cocktails are great as well. I'll be back.

Wow. I have no words to really describe how delicious everything was! Danielle was our server and she was the sweetest and very attentive. We came in wanting espresso martinis and she recommended the Power Nap martini which was basically the espresso martini but with cold brew instead of espresso. We just came for a little snack and were not disappointed. Everything was so delicious. Prices were a little intimidating but worth every penny after tasting. We had a really great view outside of the hustle and bustle of the square.

Seriously you need to stop by and go for early dinner. The cuisine is elevated southern and amazing!!! The drinks were out of bounds. Our server and mixologist was Paul, y'all have to meet him, he made the experience fabulous! They have happy hour specials and a fall menu update coming out today. We have to go back soon.

Great little spot. The wait staff was amazing and understanding of small children. They have a bar and drinks. They are delicious. The Cesar salad fresh was soo delicious and overall everything tasted great.

Note the house made chip on the menu... doesn't say sonic grade tater tots.

The food was ok but overpriced. The value just isn't there for lunch or brunch. The staff was friendly and sweet though.

Our server Keyoni was great, there were some hiccups with missed drinks a couple times, but overall he did great and the best that he could handling our big group. The views were super nice and they even had little seating areas in the turf area, which was perfect for our kids to play around after they ate. The food was amazing here, and I didn't have one bad bite! The queso and the guacamole in the Creek House chip trio was so good. The truffle parmesan fries were nice and crispy, and I loved the garlic aioli on the side. Even our kids' macaroni and cheese was delicious, I was eating the leftovers as a side with my own meal! I picked the smoked and shaved beef sandwich, which had really good flavor and very tender meat. I really liked the cucumber salad on the side because it was different than your typical side of fries or regular salad. It was light and refreshing! I had bites of the redfish and the pork chop also, which are two dishes that I wouldn't normally order myself but they were both amazing bites! It was the juiciest pork chop I had ever eaten before. I paired my meal with a house blackberry soda, which was refreshing. My only regret is that I didn't have room for dessert! Overall it was a great pick for a Friday night family dinner!

Live music in the background set the perfect ambience for the evening. Our server, Matt, made the whole experience -- no AI could have crafted a more perfect waiter. From start to finish, he was spot-on: his wine suggestions, his appetizer recommendation, and the wine pairing he chose for our main course were all perfect. It was disappointing to learn that the next day would be his last with the restaurant -- he was truly an asset. We'll be back next month, though whoever serves us next has a lot to live up to. The food itself was outstanding too -- perfectly seared shrimp and grits with sweet corn and blistered tomatoes, fried green tomatoes topped with crab and avocado, and a hearty steak sandwich with crispy fries. Every dish was as memorable as the service.

The room was cozy and thoughtfully set up with a mini fridge (perfect for storing leftovers), a coffee and tea station, and an incredibly comfortable bed that made it hard to leave in the mornings. We also ordered the tostadas, biscuits and gravy, and avocado toast, and every dish was full of flavor and beautifully done. The mimosas were just as impressive; I tried the guava mimosa for the first time and it was so refreshing and delicious. To top it all off, the atmosphere is absolutely perfect. Sometimes they have live music, and you can also head out back to relax by the fire, which really adds to the overall experience. It's peaceful, charming, and feels like the perfect escape. When we were poking around looking for breweries in the area on Yelp we came across The Shady Llama! This place doesn't make their own beer but they have lots of guest taps for breweries in the surrounding area. It's a good variety of beers to choose from and it looks like there is at least one food truck available sometimes in case you get hungry. The main draw for why we came here was to see the llamas and indeed we dis see some. One of them gave us some attitude and then sauntered off down a hill, taking it's less moody companion with it. They were funny and with the attitude I got and the name of the place I posted the Eminem song "My Name Is" where the lyrics "Slim Shady" get mentioned on Instagram because I thought it was all quite fitting. In addition to seeing the llamas we saw a great view of Hill Country. There was a lot of seating when we were here and could pick pretty much anywhere we wanted to sit. But I'm sure the place can get busy... the location and those llamas are reason enough. Cold beer, moody llamas and beautiful Hill Country... definitely worth the stop!

I am so…read moredisappointed in myself for not coming all the time before this, because Shady Llama is EXCELLENT! First, the staff members are very friendly and know everything there is to know about their available wine and brews. I love that almost all (if not all) are local sips - it's really great to see all of these different places in Wimberley/Dripping Springs/Spicewood support each other. Just another reason why I love Hill Country! When I saw Lazarus Rice Lager and St. Elmo, my gluten free heart skipped a beat, because both of those brews have been treated with the enzyme that makes the brews (normally) OK for those who are gluten sensitive but not for those with celiacs. I don't miss beer, but those two brews are too delicious to pass up when I see them on tap! We also tried the Spicewood wine flight, which was one of the best wine flights I've ever had, and I cannot wait to go buy bottles of each to bring home. All 3 were delicious, crisp, robust, and beautifully paired with each other in the flight. The views were beautiful. Beautiful is honestly an understatement. I love that so much of this area is still undeveloped. I'm sure it was less developed even 5 years ago, but the views from Shady Llama while sitting in a wooden porch Adirondack chair sipping some wine is perfection. I can only imagine how beautiful it is at sunset. I do wish they had a couple more tables by those chairs so I can rest my drink, but it's uneven and probably hard to do so, so I happily will sit with my brew in hand and relax. There's also plenty of seating but not overly crowded with chairs and benches which is love, and I loved the hammocks too! This place is GREAT for families. Playgrounds, slides, almost all kids areas gated so you don't have to worry about them running into the woods with critters. Fun for all ages, and they're just far enough from the seating to minimize the noise that this kiddos love to make! I loved the llamas. Some of them were so spicy and truly just wanted the food, and I feel that. No pets, just food, and I applaud it. Some of them would let you pet them, and the personalities on some of them were REAL, but give them some food and they may let you take a picture. So much fun having them there! Add on some delicious brisket in the back (I am so sad I missed the burnt ends), and all in all, the Shady Llama is GREAT! You are also able to bring outside food, but no outside beverages! Great place and cannot wait to come back!
