This place is such a gem! When you walk up it looks like a modernized barn, very country chic! The decor is amazing! I love how the bar area especially is decorated, so much detail! We set a 1:30 RSVP but arrived about 20 minutes early. The hostess showed us over to the bar while the prepared our table. I ordered the "Amaretto by Morning" because that is the best play on words ever! And the drink was great! We opted for outdoor dining which had a great setup, covered patio, lots of TV's with sports playing, booth and table options. At 1:30 almost the entire shareable menu was sold out so we ordered the lemon Caesar salad and it was delicious!!! It had cornbread croutons!! I got the McHildee breakfast sandwich which was an English muffin with wagu beef, ham, egg, cheese, and a hash brown with a tomato bacon jam! #Drool I did take the hash brown off and ate it separate to be able to eat it. It was fabulous! My husband got the burger and skillet potatoes. The potatoes were so good!! So are the homemade chips! The burger was just a good old fashion classic cheeseburger, with fresh buns from a local bakery in Dripping Springs. We got into town on a Sunday and were totally bummed that they weren't open for dinner but we'll be back for sure to try the dinner menu. We recently met my family here for a Sunday brunch. We sat outside on their adorable, covered patio. The food was good. The waitress was friendly. The food was slow. It was fine as we were catching up. However, if you're on a schedule, this might not be the best place. Three of us got the breakfast plate. Which was two eggs any way you want them, bacon or sausage, potatoes, and either toast or a biscuit. Of course, you have to get the biscuit to get the jam! The other person at the table got the burger with tater tots. The price for the breakfast plate was $17. Also note if you get a soda, it is canned, not fountain. They actually have a parking lot even though it is small but we were able to find a parking space. I would come back if back in the area. read more

Service was attentive; food-lamb ball appetizer could have been entree for me, beet and burrata salad was pitiful- beets were mush over unappealing burrata topped with arugula. The food was delish! Started with the shareable tomato pie and the fresh ingredients and homemade crust was out of this world. I could have just had that as my entire meal! Also shared the artichoke dip and spinach sandwich which used Abby Jane sourdough ...it was a huge sandwich and sharing is recommended! It was so savory and presentation was wonderful. The margarita with Lalo tequila was outstanding! The service was spot on! We had such a patient server who was thoughtful and great recommendations. He was attentive and made sure we always had our water glass full. What a beautiful restaurant...cool and swanky vibe. Comfortable seating and I loved the wall paper. If you want a very fancy meal in Wimberley at stratosphere prices, this is your place. I had the chicken fried bison which was tasty and the margarita on the rocks which was brilliant. But I was highly disappointed with my date's scallops. Basically two that were filleted in half after cooking so it appeared to be four. I don't regret trying it, but I'm likely not going to be a regular unless someone else chooses spots. I'll willingly go, but there are better spots in town. read more

The first thing I loved was the parking. We didn't have to look far or walk a long distance. The lot was big enough for several cars. Upon entering I was a little shocked at how chic and elegant this tiny place was. It appears the place use to be a bank or something the lock boxes at the front hall are eye catching and add an artistic touch. While waiting for a table we were able to sit in the bar/lounge area and order drinks. We were seated shortly after in a small dining area. The seating is tight so I wouldn't recommend a large party, it got very loud. We were dining for brunch so it was busy. The food came out hot and fresh. The drinks were A+ and while the waitstaff was young, they were all well trained and gave wonderful service. I'd recommend coming for a girls day or a romantic weekend getaway. read more

So...I can only give a review based on what happened to us. We went in for a table on a Sunday (we being myself, boyfriend, and our dog). I was told by greeter they would check for available tables. She came back and said there was something outside and the table was being cleared. She came back several minutes later and then advised it would be a 40 minute wait. I asked why and she said there were no outdoor tables open. I reminded her that she said one was being cleared and she kind of ignored me. What made it worse was that she assumed we should be outside. We have a service dog, and are allowed to dine indoors. She didn't even bother. I know I could have spoken up but I was so annoyed and flabbergasted that I just walked away. No organization or regard for customers. Perhaps we weren't deemed good enough? That's the feeling this kid's vibe was throwing off. Come to find out it's not even locally owned (based out of Houston). Boo. read more

This place was superb! Paul was our waiter and he was friendly, knowledgeable on the menu, made great drinks recommendations, and asked the chef about changing part of the meal. I had the poke bowl with salmon and it was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect meal to eat outside on a warm Texas day. The old fashioned was beautifully crafted and had a wonderful taste and a nice smoky aftertaste. Overall the experience here was 10/10 and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal or a wonderful atmosphere to sit and enjoy a drink or two in downtown Wimberly! Wow. I have no words to really describe how delicious everything was! Danielle was our server and she was the sweetest and very attentive. We came in wanting espresso martinis and she recommended the Power Nap martini which was basically the espresso martini but with cold brew instead of espresso. We just came for a little snack and were not disappointed. Everything was so delicious. Prices were a little intimidating but worth every penny after tasting. Hildee's was our birthday celebration dinner spot for a weekend trip to Wimberley. We sat outside on their lovely porch. Seating was comfortable minus the insane amount of pillows along the booth side that had you shoved to the edge of your seat. Service was prompt, informative, and friendly. We ordered an insane amount of food and here are my favorites- the tomato pie, short ribs, and chicken friend bison. The red fish plate had some pluses and minuses. The main plus- perfectly crisp red fish skin! The main minus- the flavors did not mingle well. Too much sweet, not enough acidity or savory. Overall, great spot that I would eat at again! read more

REALLY wonderful! We celebrated our 5th anniversary with a staycation in Wimberly, and couldn't have picked a better place for a special dinner. The pimento dutch baby was out of this world (already trying to recreate at home in Austin), as was the salmon with corn milk + zucchini, and the bavette with salsa macha + heirloom carrots. But the STAR was truly the peach crumble cheesecake omg!!! So fantastic. We both remarked that this place could do well in Austin, though they'd have to charge more -- these are Wimberly prices! It's for sure going on our list of places we'll make the drive for. Also special shoutout to our server, Ayla, who took really great care of us as she knew we were celebrating! Wow, just wow! The Autumn ceviche is probably the best I've ever had. The breakfast plate is amazing as well. I started to ask for ketchup until I took a bite of the breakfast potatoes & that changed my mind pretty quickly. No ketchup needed. The homemade biscuit w/homemade jam is amazing as well. The food was ok but overpriced. The value just isn't there for lunch or brunch. The staff was friendly and sweet though.

Service is what is really lacking here. We ordered a bottle of wine and the waiter started to pour it without us even tasting it. Ordered a second bottle of wine well before the food came but did not get it until after we finished our dinner so we asked them to cancel it. The food is delicious. The four of us enjoyed all of our dinners: redfish, scallops, bavette, and briskette bolognese. The lamb meatballs appetizer was also very good. The atmosphere inside is also lacking. The indoor dining room is really loud and does not provide the appropriate experience for the prices being charged. All of the the staff is young and inexperienced for a fine dining experience. They lack the knowledge of the menu and how an experience should go for food and pricing of this calibre. If this restaurant can get the service issue fixed and upgrade their staff this could be a really nice dining experience. read more

Let me start off by saying that this place is super cute. Vibes on 100. However, the first thing we saw upon entering was a big palmetto bug/giant roach right in front of the host stand, followed by a watery walkway. Our booth was cute and the service was OUTSTANDING. With that said, the food was not good. It wasn't all the way nasty, but it WAS NOT good. We ordered the sweet potato biscuits, the meatball mushroom stroganoff and the chicken fricassee.... The biscuits had almost no taste of sweet potato and the bottom halves of the biscuits were salty and oily. The Stroganoff was completely void of any flavor. The fricassee was okay, but needed a fair amount of salt and pepper. read more

Meh. We stopped by for lunch yesterday - we hadn't been since they moved from their nicer location in Wimberley. We were seated in a back room and it felt very closed off and uninviting. It kinda makes you feel like not talking. The service was maybe a little slow and we weren't checked on very often. I ordered the burger because nothing else on the menu really appealed to me. A $21 burger mind you. I expect great things for a burger that expensive. Alas, no. It was a good burger but it's not as good as Chill's burger just across the street and Chill's is "only" $14. We also ordered a few drinks and apps and while solid, there was nothing that made us feel like we wanted to go back. We much preferred the menu and drinks at the previous location. VERY DISAPPOINTED! My boyfriend made plans for us to have dinner at Hildee's for New Year's Eve. He spoke to them twice on the phone and was never told that it was a set menu at $120 per person! Since we drove 45 mins to get there, we decided to stay even though we weren't happy with the cost. To start things off, they were out of Pinot Grigio and Coke. IT'S NEW YEAR'S EVE! You should have popular drinks like this available. Secondly, the portions were SO small it didn't fill either of us up. Everything was sliver size, including the dessert. We had Christmas dinner at a beautiful five-star resort in San Antonio, which was an explosive buffet including all the crab, shrimp, salads, meats, sides, desserts, etc., you could eat, and that was only $75 per person. This was price gouging at it's worse. The food was just okay, certainly not worth the money. We won't be going back again. Major fail, Hildee's. read more

We blew in from Austin to try one of these fine restaurants we have been reading about! We were in the mood for a burger, and Hildee's did not disappoint! My husband commented "that was terrific-everything you want in a burger!" The meat was good quality and generous portion, real cheddar was used on it, a delicious sauce (we debated on if it was tomato based or mustard based; we couldn't figure it out, but it was good!!), plenty of veggies- a gorgeous deep green lettuce, many tomato slices and just thick enough cuts of purple onion. The best part was the bacon jam- you don't want to miss a drop of that. Or maybe the best part was the homemade potato chips- absolutely delicious. Iced tea was very nice, too. We had an attentive wait staff, enjoyed the well decorated spaces- including the bathrooms. We give it two thumbs up!! read more
