Located right on Main Street, Hill City Grille offers great food with a tasteful atmosphere. I ordered the burger with feta cheese, a unique yet delicious option. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had, which came to no surprise because the restaurant is owned by the same owner as Toscana ( the best italian restaurant in Oneonta if you have not tried it). Hill City Grill's menu had a wide range of flatbreads that sounded enticing along with gyro and a vegetable panini to name a few. This place is dynamite. Affordable and absolutely delicious, it's difficult to decide what to get solely because everything sounds so good. Last night we ate at this fine restaurant for the first time and oh what a treat! We don't eat out much in Oneonta- as we travel some and eat out then- but it was my husband's birthday and we wanted to do something different. We arrived late for o town - 8:30 and we were pleased to see they were serving until 9:30- yay! We were seated and greeted by Lisa who also was our server, who was very pleasant and professional. She knew their tap beer selections - all interesting, and then we ordered one appetizer-although there were many that were unusual fare that we both would have chosen. Anyway, it was sashimi served on a wonton cracker and it was unusual and excellent! Then we ordered crab cakes and a chicken special- chicken cordon I think- anyway- we both loved them! The chef came out and spoke to us and it was all just a perfect dining experience- very much like our NYC dining events- thank you to the Hill city grill for a all around excellent meal- we will be back! read more

Very beautiful casual restaurant in downtown oneonta. It is a beautiful restaurant with nice lighting and exposed brick walls. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. They have a very tasteful menu and very good food. My only suggestion is that they should change they menu more often. The specials are frequently the same. The food is really good I just wish they offered a more varying menu. Perhaps seasonal changes to the menu would be appropriate. It is a very good place to visit when you are in the area. read more

Classy place to dine in Oneonta. Have been there a few times now, and each experience has been very good. Sometimes they have more "specials" than items on the actual menu, so listen closely! The chef does a good job with the presentation as well as the quality of food. Love the padded bar, and the couple of weird beers on tap. If you come here, stick to appetizers and sandwiches, they are always good especially the steamed buns (app) and the gyro. The entrees and specials always seem to be an epic disappointment. You pay double (or more) for an entree or special and the food isn't anything exciting and the portions are so small. I've been here on several occasions because I do enjoy the ambiance and I'm always hoping they'll redeem themselves, but I always wait forever for the food even the appetizers to come out and then I get a crappy/overly priced entree while my boyfriend has a decent burger and massive helping of fries and I'm eating off his plate. read more

Despite the restaurant being pretty busy, the hostess quickly made us a table to seat the four of us and we were seated within five minutes. The menu was varied and they had some vegan options, as well as a reasonably priced kids' menu. The waitress was friendly and efficient. We didn't wait long for our food (again, the restaurant was busy with a few large parties), and it was very good once it arrived. My only complaint/suggestion would be to change the veggie burger patty to something a little firmer. It seemed to be a Dr. Praeger burger or something similar, so it was a little mushy and didn't stand up to the roll it was served on. (Mine was really good. Our family came here on Friday night with another family. Our service was very good, the ambiance is nice, but we agree the coldness factor is a problem. The food is of a high quality, but kind of a burger and fries oriented menu. Think of Friendly's with higher quality burgers, but no sundae. The spinach and artichoke dip was great, but short on bread to eat it with. The bill felt high to me. I froze to death while eating our dinner. Yes it was cold out but the outside door didn't shut all the way and the second door was always open allowing the cold air to come in. We said something to the waitress but they shut the door once. We shut the door a few times but that got old. The people next to us were cold as well. It is not fun eating with your coat on.:(. New Main St. Oneonta restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised to be seated fairly quickly on a Friday night without reservations when the place was clearly busy. Unfortunately, the subsequent service and speed were pretty poor. The BAD: Our waitress did not bring bread and only refilled our drinks when I flagged her down after 30 minutes of waiting. She never checked on us or apologized for the slow kitchen. It was clearly busy, so we expected a slow paced meal, but we also expected that we would be cared for during the wait. Looking around, this problem didn't seem limited to our table/waitress. Our appetizer came out quickly enough, but we were not given small plates so we had to share from the serving dish. Dinner took OVER AN HOUR to reach our table. I actually had to ask for our bill when our dinner was dropped off so we would have enough time to pay and make it to our show. The GOOD: the food was fantastic. I had Mahi-Mahi that was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. My wife enjoyed her creamy curried coconut shrimp. The appetizer was also tasty and unexpected; the havarti falafel fritters were well complimented by arugala and tzatziki. The prices were reasonable and everything tasted great. The food was good enough that it pushed this review from a 2-star to a 3-star rating. We hope that after a few weeks they get the kinks worked out and we can enjoy the great food without the irritation. read more
