Shrimp and grits

I visited this location and I must say the food and service was good and you won't be disappointed. I tried the grits w shrimp, pork chops, greens and yams. Those are my go to meals.

Yams and collards

10/10 recommend! Picked up Hills on my way home today, order was ready on time, and staff were very friendly and attentive! The chicken was well seasoned and juicy, the red velvet waffles were the perfect texture and tasted amazing, the collards were well seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the yams were so yummy and tasted like fall! Thank you Hills!!!! Hope to be back soon to eat in-house!

Look at the size of these chicken legs! With candied yams and greens.

I have been seeing the posts and reviews for Hill's and decided I was having lunch Saturday. My husband had a waffle. It was golden brown and looked delicious. (No, he didn't offer me a bite) I had fried chicken legs with two sides. I chose the candied yams and greens. Every single thing was definitely worth the wait. Fresh fried chicken, made to order. Service was great and refills were plenty. From now on, this is going to be my go to for chicken. Do yourself a favor and give them a try. You won't be disappointed. If you like family restaurants, they have you covered. Decorated so cute with family pictures and comfortable seating. I don't drink sweet tea, but heard two customers tell their server their sweet tea was the beast they ever had!

What a gem in the neighborhood, this warm and welcoming restaurant is a must try if you love delicious home cooking. The family and staff are so welcoming, the interior is warm and inviting and you'll totally feel at home. I think I had a good sampling of what's coming hot out of the kitchen during my first visit but I can't wait to come back and try more. We tried the fried chicken and the fried pork-chop and let me tell you both were amazing and the sides of black-eye peas and cornbread dressing (cornbread dressing is only offered on Friday and Saturdays) tasted like I was dining at my mom's table, I am convinced all the sides will be just as good, I asked our server what sides I should try and after a moment she came back with definitely the black-eye peas and she was right. Now on to the waffles - thick fluffy and light as a feather, honestly I don't remember ever ever ever having a better waffle. The prices here are very reasonable and the portions make this place a great value and everything is served with love...

My socks were immediately knocked off by the warm welcome and impeccable customer service! What a treat to feel like I was dining amongst genuine people who cared about my dining experience! The owners greeted us and chatted a bit about the family-style restaurant established in loving memory of the matriarch of the family. While we were there, several people from the community came to dine. Everyone seemed as if they were at ease. This is clearly a favorite local establishment! I'm reminded of the theme song for a show from the 80's called "Cheers".... "sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name & they're always glad you came". That's the feeling that I enjoyed! Now onto the delicious food! Wooo! You won't be disappointed with their fried chicken or fried pork chop! Everything was seasoned and prepared perfectly! Crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Now, if your palate favors bland, unseasoned foods, this may not be for you. The seasoning was just right, balanced, and not overpowering! Yum! You'll enjoy the variety of waffles available, southern style sides such as greens, candied yams, Mac and cheese, tasty beverages such as watermelon, mint lemonade, and more. They're is something for everyone! Portion sizes were very decent! We can't wait to visit again just so we can try the oxtails!

Do not walk, run to eat here! It won't be long before this place is featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. The chicken is so flaky, so juicy, so perfect you'll think they got your grandmama in the back cooking. You will be full to the gills and still trying to eat one more bite. The waffles are perfect fluffy heaven...and we haven't even gotten to the sides. Blackeyed peas and collard greens so good you'll dance in your seat. I can't wait to come back and try the Ox Tails...and the Sweet Potato Waffle and everything else!!!

Great find in Edgewater! Came in for a touch of soul and got so much more. Walking in the door you can feel the story and after speaking with Chris the owner I learned all about his family and the restaurant being a tribute to his mother which their recipes have come from. Has a waffle, fried chicken thigh and collards. Chicken had just the right amount of seasoning, crispy and fresh. Greens delicious adding in some pepper vinegar to my liking. Looking forward to going back for more soul. Please introduce yourself and tell your story on how you came to dine there. Just over a year opened and need all the help they can get for this deserving family and restaurant.

Rolled in to the covered part of the outdoor patio with the pup in tow and were seated at a table in the corner. It was chilly outside and the heated towers and window covers were a welcome sight. We were greeted and welcomed by nearly everyone there (the pup is a cutie but still) and got a bucket of water for her and drinks for the humans. Service was friendly and personable and our waitress knew the menu well We had the turtle mound platter, steamed oysters, clams, shrimp (rock and pinks) and snow crab served with cocktail, horseradish, drawn butter and their version of old bay which was all delicious. We also had the steamed veggies with blue crab and cheese, we were kinda skeptical but it was awesome. The crab cake was also good, little filler and mostly crab and the dirty rice was well seasoned. It's a drive for us, but I think we will be back!

Are you kidding me?! This turned out to be one of the biggest surprise eateries of the year for me…read more This little spot, beachside New Smyrna Beach, has quietly been winning hearts and if a place lasts more than a year, that's usually a very good sign. One morning, out with friends enjoying ocean walks and ocean views we were all hit by those mid-morning hunger pangs, someone asked if we'd ever tried it. I'll admit, I was skeptical. I didn't know a thing about the place. But I trusted the company I was with, and I'm so glad I did. Breakfast here is pure comfort food--the kind that reminds you of lazy mornings by the shore, shared laughs, and time spent with people you actually enjoy. The food is genuinely delicious, the waffles are a must, and the coffee? Top notch--always a win. The menu has plenty of choices without feeling overwhelming, perfect for a casual morning out near the beach. It's not fancy, it's not trying to be, and it's not forgettable. It's just right. A true surprise and absolutely worth coming back to. If you're near the beach in New Smyrna Beach and craving a breakfast that hits all the right notes, check this place out. You won't be disappointed.

Friends, I must confess: I should not have waited this long. Just like Uncle Chicken's across the way, everything here is prepared with love and care. I had the meatloaf. It's prepared with big cubes of white cheddar, bacon, and ground meat, then pressed together into a juicy, almost cubed steak consistency, then finished off in a cast iron skillet with a sweet red sauce and sliced fresh jalapeños on top. I kid you not when I say I had to look my mother in the eyes and say this was better. The sweet, spicy, and savory flavors all melded together in my mouth in a jubilee of taste, and the skillet serving style ensured the food stayed piping hot and fresh throughout my meal. I had it with asparagus (very yummy and cooked alongside in the skillet) and au gratin potatoes (consistency and flavor of a wonderful, creamy macaroni and cheese). My parents shared the pork souvlaki. They report that it was wonderful. The pork was perfectly juicy (I hate dried out pork), and this place has the best tzatziki you'll find this side of the Mediterranean. We finished off our meal with a southern comfort classic: peach cobbler. Just like everything else, it was delicious. Ever since Cracker Barrel replaced their blackberry cobbler with the current travesty of a dessert they pretend is cobbler, I've been looking for a replacement. This hit the spot. The location is perfect for the food, too. It feels like you've just been invited into someone's house for a potluck dinner. Staggered lighting across the ceiling (with some red, green and blue lights) complete the dive look, while guitars, a Centipede arcade cabinet, and tons of chicken figurines line the room. You'll feel like you've traveled to the mountains of Appalachia as the soft bluegrass plays in the background and the smells of the kitchen caress your nostrils. Guy Fieri should have come here when he came through town a while back.
