I had visited the restaurant 5-7 years ago with my wife and we had remembered the breakfast being great. We were in the area again. This weekend and decided to go back. It wasn't as good as we'd remembered. I got the same thing as I had on my first trip, the cat heads and gravy. The cat heads have shrunk and are now no bigger than a regular biscuit. The eggs were just regular old eggs without any other flavor added. The wait time was great given the usual standard of 45 min - 1 hr minimum you get in and around Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We were able to walk right in and be seated when arriving around 8:30 though a line had formed by the time we left. They do have a breakfast buffet now but we didn't sit close enough to get a view of the options available. Friendly folks working on site and great service give the otherwise 3 star rating a 4. All things considered I'd go back for another visit but may try one if their French toast options that look great in the Yelp photos and when carried out to the other patrons tables over gravy and biscuits with eggs. read more

We were renting out in a cabin in this city for about a week. This was the closest restaurant and I figured we would give it a try. I am so glad we did! We ended up coming here 3 times during the week. I tried something different each time and was always satisfied. You can't really go wrong with any of the menu options. Our family made the long trip to the Pancake Pantry but I was eyeing Hillbilly's since we got here so we opted to take the baby there instead of going with them. It was amazing, the food was delicious and there was plenty of it. I ordered two eggs scrambled with cheese, bacon, taters, and a sweet potato pancake. Ordered their bananas foster French toast which says it's caramelized bananas and basically they just cut up a half a banana and threw the pieces on top of their regular French toast and waited forever for a refill on my coffee. Took my wife and 10 year old son. Be sure to get there at least an hour before show time. There are some good picture props around the building. The show is a little on the cheesy side but it was entertaining especially for kids. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I went here twice during my 4 days break in Gatlinburg. The people there are awesome.. and the food was amazing. Day 1 - 3 egg cheese omelette with bacon, taters and grits. It was amazing. The ingredients were fresh and out waitress was so sweet. Day 2 - cheese burger with fries. This is a must try!! It's delicious. The guy at the front door was so kind. I was feeling a little ill before I got there.. so my BF ran to he store to grab something. He came over and checked on me the entire time. This place is great!! Just finished breakfast at this wonderful establishment. Our waitress was delightful and the service was great. Easily some of the best blueberry pancakes I have ever had the pleasure to grace my tastebuds with. The French toast, bacon, and sausage were all well crafted and tasty. If I could give less than a star I would. My husband and I are vacationing in the area from New York and there are very few choices to eat in the area, Hillbilly's had decent reviews so we stopped in for breakfast today. Upon entering the hostess didn't acknowledge us, we waited and finally she came up to the front desk saying "I hate cleaning up puke." We don't know if she said it deliberately to get us to leave so she had one less table to serve.. or she was serious. Either way, who wants to eat somewhere after hearing that. Fun decor filled the restaurant. The food was good, but it took a while to arrive at our table. The service was lacking. There was no line when we arrived but we still had to wait ten minutes to be sat at one of the several empty tables. Our waitress was mostly nice until a rude moment toward the end of our meal. we have passed by this place so many times but it was always after they were closed. their hours are 8 am to 2 pm. today we went with some friends of ours who were visiting us. I ordered the black angus country fried steak sandwich, my husband ordered the hog something blt and one of the other people ordered the bologna sandwich. it was called something else but that is what it was. the slaw was the best I had ever tasted, the onion rings were delicious. my sandwich was out of this world good. would absolutely get it again. my husband loved his blt and she liked her bologna sandwich too. good food, great service and wonderful atmosphere. little local hole in the wall but those are the best kind. we can't wait to go back. read more

Hillbilly's was a great stop, they serve breakfast till 2:00 PM however they have other options too. They have great omelets and pancakes. So happy we stopped here on our way into Gatlinburg! The parking lot was almost full, so that's always a good sign. We were seated right away with no problem though. The waitress described the bananas foster French toast as "heaven on a plate" and she was not lying. The corn beef hash, sausage gravy, and sweet potato pancakes were among the favorites but the bananas foster French toast was the winner. My family is camping nearby this summer and I was hopeful this restaurant would serve as one of our go to sources for a quick meal. I was not disappointed. While we all ate things that would be hard to mess up (pancakes, veggie omelet, etc...), I was pleased with everything. The service was quick and friendly. Our cabin rental agent recommended Hillbilly's over Grandma's where we were planning to go. We waited 15 mins for a table which wasn't too bad, however, the wait for our breakfast was EXTREME! It was an hour. Apparently they were short-staffed in the kitchen and training a new cook. The food was ok. On the whole, average but nothing to write home about. The bacon was very good though. Eggs were cooked correctly, but biscuits didn't taste homemade, country potatoes were frozen, and gravy was just ok. Our server, Kim, was wonderful though. Very happy and personable. We even saw her skipping! This was our one day to splurge on a restaurant breakfast instead of eating in the cabin. I am disappointed as I was expecting more. Was hoping for homemade cathead biscuits and gravy. Oh well, not the end of the world. I've had worse breakfasts. It probably would have been better without the wait. Breakfast just dragged on and on. I give Kim 5 stars though without her happy disposition I would have left. read more

After an initial wait to be acknowledged and seated, we were concerned that the good reviews here on Yelp had misled us. Soon after being seated though, were greeted by a young and very friendly waitress. We ordered quickly (meat lovers omelette and 2 eggs with corned beef hash). Our food was delivered soon after we ordered. It was delicious. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and golden brown. The omelette was huge and stuffed with sausage, bacon, ham and cheese. The hash was good as well. With a name like Hillbilly Restaurant you light expect a bit more hillbilly theming, but it's just enough to get the idea. The food is the star here. Good for breakfast, get there early so you don't have to wait a really long time to get seated. I got the buffet it was pretty good, I had sausage, bacon, pancakes and eggs. I'd love to give you a review of this place, but we were never seated. As a family of four, we waited at the front door for at least 10 minutes to be seated at a table. The restaurant was about half full and there were lots of servers running around and even looking at us, yet no one greeted us in the 10 mins we waited. We were the only ones waiting. Nice quaint place. They bring out complimentary cinnamon biscuits to your table that were really good. I ordered the pancakes with sausage which were good. They tasted like they were homemade, which is always a plus because I can make pancake batter out of a box at home anytime I want.
