Great first experience here! I'm looking for a new dentist, and I think I'm going to stick with this one. The staff is small (maybe because I went during a less busy time) and personable which makes it a nice atmosphere when we need to do something that we all dread (the teeth work itself!). The ladies were very sweet and welcoming, making nice conversation while checking in and taking x-rays. Dr. Rana gave a great first impression, being very thorough in explaining, and including me in on, what she wanted to work on with my teeth. She was also very personable by asking me about myself and making cordial conversation with me--I didn't feel like she was rushing to get me in then out like I've felt in the past with other dentists. She only cleaned my teeth today, scraping off the build-up, and I already feel cleaner. I'm looking forward to my next appointments with her! read more

Great experience with helpful staff. Clean environment and nice people in the studio. Spoke with Dr. Skaf and she is prompt to check on my mother's injured front teeth and see if the nerves are still functioning. She is very knowledgeable to tell me that she just need to take Vitamin B is enough to address the numbing issue in the teeth. If we do root canal, she is honest to inform us that the teeth may get worse. Run and dont look back. The time I tried to give this place a shot it was by far worst experience. The female dentist (wife) provided worst care was late rude and snobby like she is better than all her patients sitting in chair i honestly dont know why she stays in dentistry she looks like she hate every moment probably money hungry! she tried to tell me my whole mouth was horribly damage (mind you I grind teeth and have tmj I alrdy get botox for) thankfully i never let her do any work i left after that and didnt look back i found best dentist in claremont who isnt out for you $$$$ to this date i havent even had cavity she focuses on preventive care not like this place who just wants to bill insurance. please dont go here the staff is nice but dentist are trash read more

But please listen to me STAY AWAY of this place, this people charge insurance for bad jobs, yes they have the nerve to collect on bad quality jobs, if you need a good denture this is not the place, the female called Dr, that is so unprofessional and rude mistreat my mother along with the woman on the front. When my mom asked them to fix her denture this woman Ashini told my mom that the denture was not good because her gums were not even, we filed a complaint with dental board and we had a call with a judge you know what her representative said , that my mom didn't need a denture in the first place according with this so called Dr. , do here is my question if my mom didn't need it then why they did it? Took them more than three months to deliver and when they did it was a piece of trash nobody would be able to use it. So this tells you what kind of people is this, just want to steal money out of people that really needs a service. After meeting with several dental offices I met with Dr. Ashini regarding a dental procedure I needed. She was the only one who asked me what I wanted. Based upon my wants she came up with the perfect plan for me. I am a 69 year old man and she introduced me to her husband Dr. Harsh. Dr. Harsh is the best dentist I've ever been to. The procedure was a lot of work and he was brilliant. I want to shout out the office manager Loreine who handled the financial end and scheduled all my appointments. I hope you take the time to read about my unpleasant experience I had last week. It was my first visit and last. I came in for a check-up and deep cleaning. The young lady that took my x-rays was helpful but I cannot say the same about Ashini Kalyani. While I was on the chair waiting for a dentist, Ashini was filling in cavities for another patient. She asked him if he wanted to take a break but pretty much forced him to wait halfway through the work while she came over to do the cleaning. She was very ABRUPT and performed my cleaning in UNDER A MINUTE! I then said "Can I ask why you went so fast?" She said that I didn't have much to clean and quickly brought up my dental insurance. I'm entitled to two deep cleanings a year but it seems that she only treats patients well if they bring her in money. I told her I wasn't happy with her work and then she walked away and went back to the other patient. This is NOT the service I expect to receive from a dentist. I don't know if this is the culture in this dental office but please stay away from Ashini Kalyani. Respectfully. read more

I cannot overstate the positive impact that Dr. Ashini and (Dental Asst) Jennofer, Lorreine + Maria have had on my life. Disclosure: I was forced to prematurely retire from my career as a Fortune 500 executive w/ Ernst & Young when I sustained significant injuries in a multiple car highway accident several yrs ago. The accident caused debilitating, permanent injuries that will vex me for the rest of my life. When I first visited Hillcrest in summer 2018, my (remaining) teeth were deeply worn down and damaged from a lifetime of grinding and 15+ yrs of prescription painkiller use that made my mouth dryer than the Mojave Desert in August. I had consulted with a half dozen other dentists re: the scope of possible treatments and my head was spinning from the array of (prohibitively expensive) treatments they wanted to do. Dr. Ashini and her husband/co-owner Dr. Kalyani were both extraordinarily gentle and patient w/ me as they assessed the extent of my damaged teeth and proposed a comprehensive solution that included extracting my remaining upper teeth, building me a set of exquisitely beautiful dentures and crowning seven of my lower teeth. While their estimate was not the cheapest...it certainly wasn't the most expensive. However, due to the caliber of the stellar SERVICE I received, every visit felt as if I was going to Nordstrom's or embarking on a cruise! I began treatment on a bleary, overcast day in December 2018 and culminated in mid February 2019. For the first time since I was an undergrad over three decades ago, I can now smile with great confidence! Functionally, I can now eat steak and corn on the cob effortlessly- two much beloved foods that I had to largely give up in the yrs before I sought treatment. But the biggest sign of my everlasting gratitude to Dr. Ashini and her staff? That now my entire family, two college students and a high schooler plus my beautiful wife, are also her patients. I encourage you to give the Hillcrest team a shot to earn your loyalty. Update: DEC 27, 2021- My family of five have entrusted these two wonderful doctors for all of our dental needs for 3+ yrs now + have consistently seen our needs/expectations met or surpassed. read more

I am updating my review in response to the dentist's updated comment on my review. The dentist had an opportunity to learn from this mistake but based on this updated comment it is clear that he did not. Therefore I even more strongly do not recommend this dentist. This comment left by the dentist is all lies--the only reason I brought my retainer in was to make sure it would not damage my new crown. The only reason the retainer was not fitting correctly is because I hadn't worn it for the 2 weeks of having a temporary crown. And yes,I explained all of this to the dentist. I was never advised to see an orthodontist. I never agreed to have my retainer "adjusted". He adjusted it without my consent. In my case the retainer does not move my teeth, it moves the palate bone of the roof of my mouth, so there is no damage to the roots of the teeth. Again, I explained all of this to the dentist & he still insisted he knew better than I & did what he wanted, instead of what I consented to. Stay far away from people like this. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST. In nursing school I was taught to never forget that the patient knows their body better than anyone else because they living in it/with it more than anyone else. This dentist should have been taught this lesson. I have worked hard to maintain my orthodontic work as I was instructed by my orthodontist. My mouth has never been perfect but it was comfortable & functional. This dentist refused to listen to me. He believed he knew better than I do or than my orthodontist did. This dentist destroyed my retainer (I still suspect it was actually done deliberately because he kept insisting I shouldn't be wearing it) & now I am forever stuck with a mouth that is both uncomfortable & not functional. I need to speak a lot in my line of work & I am a singer. Both of those are now very negatively impacted. I do not recommend this dentist. read more

I called in as a new patient back in September for a broken crown and a filling falling out of my other molar. Let me just say I was blown away by the service provided by Dr. Kalyani and staff. Very accommodating with my schedule EVEN THOUGH Dr. Kalyani and his wife had just had a baby in recent times, amazing. Also made sure that I was very comfortable in a dental office environment considering no one really enjoys going to the dentist. If I could give 10 stars I would. I'm so happy I found Dr Harsh Kalyani. My dentist of years retired and I had to find a new dentist. I came across Hillcrest Dental Studio and I was pleasantly surprised. From the time I walked in and was greeted with a big smile, I felt comfortable. I was seen pretty fast too. Not a long wait like some dentist. I'm always a little nervous when I go to the dentist though. When I went to the back and the lovely Dental assistant took my x-rays she too made me feel at ease. When the Dr came in to greet me he was so thorough. He explained in detail my dental history, and even pointed out that I was a teeth grinder, which is why I was experiencing discomfort. I was amazed, because for years my other dentist never told me that... I was given a custom night gaurd which has been a total game changer. When my teeth cleaning began, he was always concerned with how I was feeling, asking me if I was feeling any discomfort. That is important to me that my dentist is caring and personable. I had a decent sized cavity that could have easily needed a crown, it was missed over a few dental cleanings at another office between pregnancies as I declined the X-rays while pregnant. With HMO insurance it's hard to find an honest dentist, a dishonest dentist could have easily just told me I needed a full blown root canal and crown ( two other offices already did) - Dr Kalyani not only was honest through the entire process, she is an exceptional dentist as she was able to just fill the cavity. She took the time to make sure I was numb and made sure that I felt comfortable through out the entire process. Her entire staff is incredibly friendly, I'm not kidding, the front desk/scheduling manager held and baby sat my 6 month old son while I was in the chair. So happy I came across this gem, and such honest and kind people- I and my whole family will be coming to this dental office from here on out! read more

Rating for Hill Crest Dental Chino Hills 12-21-2022 I rated this dental office with a 1, after today's visit. It is a total wasting my time (about 1.4 hours) with minor teeth polishing instead of good faith teeth cleaning!! It was supposed to be regular teeth cleaning, but just ended up with a low-level polishing and using Minor dental flossing. Major of the time they are busy taking X-rays plus color photos and identifying a lot of unnecessary dental work which I do not need. I just have my teeth cleaned by my dentist (over 30 years), and no filling is required. But this dentist wants to sell me an expensive filling + 4 refills. 90% of my time is letting them create a business to bring in the income. The dentist has no intention to do the cleaning.
