I came in to ask to use the restroom because I had an emergency, at first one of the ladies was nice enough to let me in even though she said no customers are allowed at night. I took a bit because I also had my son with me. They kept banging on the door loudly for me to come out even though I told them I was not done. When I got out they were all belligerent and of course I responded by defending myself; the lady even called my 8 year old son a bad word. I'm disabled. I recently double checked and California vehicle code allows me to park in both public and private parking spaces. I parked here and read the parking signs. Every sign read "customer parking only", except the handicapped parking spot. There was a metered space across the street (where I'm also allowed to park) except I was intending to buy a few things when I returned, as I'm a Shell cardholder and needed a few things. I left the lot, it took longer to return for me than expected, however there was more than ample open parking spaces, equally close. When I returned, a woman came out with a note in her hand and told me that I couldn't park there and that her manager had told her to put a note on the windshield. I told her I was disabled and could. She said the signs state customer parking only. I told her that the other signs do, but not the handicapped one and that I read it first before leaving, but that I intended on making a purchase. She blocked me, stated that I wasn't a customer, since I had left the lot. I replied, fine then I won't buy anything. To leave without incident I peacefully said I was sorry and wouldn't do it again and started to leave as she stepped out of my way. That's when her Manager came out and they both started to block me again, bullying me with an angrier tone. I explained it again, reiterating my apology, but they wanted blood or perhaps a public flogging would have satisfied their thirst for revenge for parking there. Trying to avoid running over them I showed them my Shell card and told them that I I am a customer and now had to go to a different location that treats their customers better. They continued their harassment, so I then started screaming to leave me alone with targeted profanities (which shocked them into moving out of my way) and I was able to finally leave. I am a 73 year old male. With physical disability issues. Normally my son takes my car to fill up and check the oil. However he went out of town on a business trip so I decided to handle the car myself. I needed assistance filling up and asked the Lady on duty if she could help. This lady was so helpful and nice, not only did she pump the gas for me she even checked the oil, then she noticed one of my tires was low. She showed me where the air was and then put the air in the tire. WOW. Very helpful and nice. I decided to get a car wash and she showed me where to go. When I exited the car wash she was waiting on me and waved goodbye as I left. A special thanks to her, I think her name was Elaine or Alaine. Customer service done correctly. If you have a Ralphs card and shop their regularly and have a card (Ralphs store card), you can get cents off per gallon. I haven't reached any points that can make the gas prices lower than what I get at either Chevron down the way or 7-11 (my go to place). So for CARWASH - 5 stars. for gas 2 stars = 3 stars. Parked in front to run in for a few minutes...employee (Amelia, I believe) was washing her car off duty (out of uniform) immediately ran up to me shouting and waving her finger in my face "I work here! You need to move!" Which-I get it-but do you have to be so aggressive? Continued on, stomping up and down the parking lot. The man behind the register was placating her behavior-making excuses "she works here..." Her behavior was way beyond...like I was personally trying to ruin her day. Calm down. Very rude and indignant in her approach. Could have simply asked me to move (Even tho I was not blocking her exit). Something else must be going on in her life for her to be that upset...I'll pray for her. I am a RN, just driving home from 12 hr shift of caring for very sick people with frustrated family members and I still managed to keep my composure when dealing with this employee. to the owners of this establishment, if you've seen your numbers take a dip recently at night you have your overnight lady to blame! this lady is a real sack of horse dung! this is twice now where ive gone later at night wanting some snacks and goodies and twice now she cant even treat me or others like humans! she cannot even simply acknowledge others. the first time this happened i I tried to ask her when she's gonna open and she put her head down in her phone and kept text messaging or playing her game or whatever she was doing. CAR WASH only. So we all know how much I love the $5 wash. I bit the bullet and purchased the $10 wash. IMPRESSED! I uploaded a picture (not the best of circumstances: it was from inside my car at night) because the visibility had gotten so ridiculous, I couldn't wait another second to clean it, pause for proper photo ops etc. So, when you see the picture it is very important that you know that it was not raining, nor had it rained any time recently. I had just been low on funds and indecisive as far as which cleaning establishment to patron. So! I could BARELY see out of my car, I got the $10 wash and I swear that puppy was brand new. It got EVERYTHING. I mean we are talking months of bird yuck etc etc. Spotless. Hands down best drive thru wash I've been to in recent memory. I am told not all Shells have such great facilities, so only go to this one. Give it the challenge. Closest gas station near my pad/office, also the most expensive gas station in the area. What I did like about it was their awesome A/C in the summer....it was like walking into a freezer. Very clean and neat store with friendly staff. They sell all kinds of kitschy stuff, fun to look at when you are just using them for their A/C. Besides being seriously over priced for gasoline (about .$80 per gal) there are no window washing squeegees or any type of paper towels for protection, oil check, window wiping, etc. You'd think with such high gas prices they could at least provide what every other gas station provides, homeless population or not. read more

This Shell station appears to consistently be the highest priced gas station in Greater San Diego that I've witnessed over the last several years. And just down the hill (about a half a mile) on Washington there is both a Chevron and an Exxon/Mobil station (across the street from each other) with respective gas prices that are usually 50 to 75 cents less per gallon than this Shell station. So, I never buy gas here but - until last week - I would stop in periodically in the mornings on the way to work and pick up juice or milk. The store is spotlessly clean and well-stocked. My issue, however, is this: About a week ago, I stopped in early one morning on the way into my office before the sun came up. It was a chilly morning and I was the only customer in the store. At first, the older woman behind the counter seemed pleasant enough. Until a young - an obviously homeless - man came inside. "The owner don't want homeless in here. Now GET OUT!" she suddenly shouted at him. Both the young man and I jumped at this sudden, violent outburst from this sweet-looking "grandma" type who, up until a moment before, looked and acted as if she were right out of an old Norman Rockwell painting. Her face was now contorted and red with fury and she was nearly foaming at the mouth as she glared malevolently at him. "But it's cold outside," he pleaded. "And I have money." And with that he held up what looked like two or three dollars in his now-shaking hand. "I don't CARE," she snarled. "Get OUT! And don't come BACK!" she screamed with an eardrum shattering shriek. It's rare - fortunately - you get to see someone so filled with hatred and contempt for another human being. Especially so up close and personal. It was sickening. And I hope to God I never have to witness something like that again. read more

I came here since it's the closest Shell nearby. It's located on a busy street. For those of you who know me, I only gas up my car at Shell. I don't like going to other locations and switching up my gas. Some places only take cash or debit but this location takes credit cards. My car needed a car wash as well so once I got my receipt, it gives me a five digit code to punch in at the machine. I got the super wash which at the end showers your car with wax. The line wasn't too bad but again this location has lots of traffic coming in and out of here. Such a negative. My car was super clean and shiny and fully loaded with gasoline. It was running on almost empty. I'm glad there was a Shell here as I don't like driving too far out to find a Shell gas station. The positive is that they have snacks and drinks if you are on the go. Stopped into this place tonight. A nasty homeless type in her car had blocked the gas pump area and you couldn't pull out. Instead of parking in a parking spot, she hogged the gas pump and was parked too far out for anyone to go around her. When asked to move, she yelled she didn't care and she was going to stay there as long as she wanted. The attendant, says, "Well, I can't make people hurry with their gas." We asked, her, so someone can pretend to get gas for hours and block everyone? Nasty woman yelled at the other customers and kept saying, "I don't care" and "It's not my problem." The rest of the time she couldn't speak English, but apparently she could when she wanted to be hostile. I get that people in Downtown areas are not getting paid to control the vagrants, but the attendant actually got rude with the customers, and not with the nasty vagrant. The attendant was just a dead end that didn't care. She could have asked the woman to move in a parking space so people could get gas and get out. Whoever owns this place needs to get some security or some decent help and train them to actually care about the customers. Won't be going there any time soon. read more

Do not get a car wash here. I paid for an express wash and it left film and suds all over my car. I always pull in to a parking spot and dry off my car and wipe it down. I ended up spending 30 minutes more than I had time for. I used 10 microfiber cloths trying to get all the film off and it still wouldn't come off. Now I have streaks and film all over my car. I'd suggest not getting an express wash. read more

The lady who works days or afternoons with mask on and long Grey hair has the absolute worst people skills. She is always rude, short with customers even when you go out of your way to be nice to her, her attitude is still garbage. I go through the car wash weekly and because I had a power wheels in the back she yelled at me saying "I'm telling you no, I don't care what the owner says". She said this because I regularly go through the car wash. Often when the owner is there, and he lets me go through with power wheels or whatever as long as it's secured. She decided that she could care less and as usual was completely unprofessional. Just because she hates her life, she shouldn't treat customers like garbage. She should find a job in a corner somewhere away from the public. She will be happier and I know the customers at this shell will all have a better experience with her not gracing us with her presence! Too bad, because the owner is really great and accommodating. I would not recommend buying gas here. I believe I saw this place was charging around $3.50 a gallon for regular. My review was for the wash. Turning into the wash is a challenge as its tight getting into the entrance to the station and into the wash itself. I drive a compact car as it is. The true test to the wash was its lack of water pressure. My car was still fairly dirty after a $6 wash. I had tried to get a stain off my rims and paint after some a-hole spilled a bunch of beans near my tires causing a splash of it all over my rims. After running it through the wash the paint and rims were still caked in beans. No bueno on that. read more

I've never been much on these things as drive through car washes at gas stations go but, this one has to be one of the best with very minimal drying off afterwards. You gas up, you see your total, then push yes for car wash, pick the amount and drive through; something along the line of a kids ride at an amusement park if you will and, don't be blazed out or their brushes will have you thinking you are in a 3 D Movie! The machine was malfunctioning at the time Marty & I stopped by and charged me $10 instead for the car wash instead of $5 but, the attendant explained that they were waiting for the repair company to fix it automatically. So, he gave us 2 Shami cloth towels for free ( valued at $9.50 each ) which even more than compensated the error. Oh, did these Shami towels work? You bet and then some! We wiped the Jay Bird down in no time flat and after a good vacuuming, we flew off to dinner. Now, the gas prices ( even with 10 cents off per gallon with my Ralph's points ) were still ridiculous and on an error that a Valero employee would shout "Get out, you get out, we make no kind error!" The customer service in which this employee made up for it with more than just a smile, free items and apologies was greatly appreciated. Oh, I don't care what the price of their coffee is, the fact that they have no mechanic to make repairs ( who does that now days ? ), but I'll take this place over many other Shell stations in the area anytime. I don't know how clean I expected our car to be for $5 at a drive through car wash, but I did expect the water to at least rinse off the entire car. Instead, the back of the car was left covered in dirt and untouched by any water at all. Therefore, the pink and blue soap that was sprayed onto the car was also not rinsed off, leaving a pink and blue film on the white paint. That sucks! I understand it's not a nice hand car wash but this is just really crappy quality and the car seems actually dirtier than when we arrived due to all that soap residue. We will not be back! read more

To start I never bought gas here before or after the renovation. Besides the airport gas stations this is the most expensive gas station around. Primarily I only come here to get the car washed every three weeks. I've always bought the $10 all inclusive wash. The past couple of times I've noticed that less soap is now dispensed, there is no longer a pleasant scent associated with the soap and what used to take 5 minutes or so now takes 2 or 3 but is still the same price. To bad cause it really was convenient, but I'm not about to pay the same price and now get less..... Shell since you have no hesitation about charging double for your gas raise the price on the car wash too and bring it back to same quality as you had it when you reopened. read more

They have the rudest employee/manager I've ever encountered in about a three minute gas station stop the lady working the counter first off was was smacking on a lollipop in her mouth which was disgusting all while treating me disrespectfully and taking her personal time to ring me up while distracted by her phone.
