This place is like walking through a time capsule. The store has incredible products with a wide variety of choices. Still made local and beautifully packaged like years ago it gives you that old time vibe of nostalgia. The staff is welcoming, ready to package you chocolate choices, very helpful and highly knowledgeable about their products. It's the perfect location to purchase a confectionery gift or to splurge and enjoy a piece of delicious candy yourself. Highly recommend.

Kid in a candy shop, heck yes!! Traveling from the Brockton VA. Siri went haywire and kept rerouting me in circles. Pulled into the nearest parking lot. Looked up and saw Chocolatiers.....this major sweet tooth gal said heck yes and jumped out of the car and ran into the building. WTG Siri, I love you!! So much to look at, chose from, select, and enjoy! Best part is that special Mom's day gift I've been searching for I GOT IT! Mom's sweet tooth is going to love the chocolate covered strawberries and varied truffles. Sent my adult child a message too....I'm hoping their Mom's day gift to me will be a trip to the ice cream shop. Loved this candy shop.

THE BEST CANDY STORE EVER! If you want to satisfy your sweet tooth with some homemade goodies, look no further than Hilliards! Growing up on the South Shore, we knew that Hilliards chocolates and candies would always be our favorite stocking stuffer on Christmas Morning, and that continues to this day. They have a variety of amazing confections, all made in their brand new kitchen / chocolate factory next door that would put Willy Wonka to shame! This addition comes on the heels of their Peppermint Bark's crowning achievement on Oprah's Favorite Things list, and rightfully so! You gotta get yourself some of their decadent cacao creations. From the simple milk or dark chocolate bars to the fancifully whimsical hand dipped and sprinkled Rice Crispy Treats, you'll find something for everyone! My family also adores the caramel-chocolate apples, which as another reviewer put it are "$10 of pure joy"! They make an awesome gift for a friend or for yourself! The shop is situated inside a quaint Victorian house that looks like a set piece from "The Music Man". You can walk around inside and gaze at all the wares, from jellybeans in every flavor imaginable to creative truffles (I love the Birthday Cake one!). In the spring and summer, you can't miss when the shop is transformed into a vintage ice cream parlor, scooping up favorite flavors topped with homemade sprinkles and hot fudge sauce! When we were in high school, my best friend and I always used to come here after a long day! It was our favorite way to escape the suburban drudgery and enjoy some amazing frozen treats in a warm and welcoming environment. We still love to visit during the summer for old time's sake! Hilliards is a staple of any South Shore MA childhood. Ask anyone you knew that grew up in the area, and they'll tell you stories of toting small cardboard boxes of Hilliards chocolate bars to school to fundraise for sports, and how they'd be sold out by second period (except for the dreaded peanut butter ones!). It's a slice of nostalgia that I simply adore!

I came here at 4pm. The staff was helpful and friendly. They were well informed on the selection on hand . I got the Cookies and cookie dough ice cream, cupcake Truffle, and Cookie n cream truffles. You can definitely taste the quality in every bite . The ice cream was rich and smooth . The chocolate definitely tasted handmade. It was rich and the texture was amazing. The price was decent for the Quality. Highly recommend , you try them out

I ordered a delivery of chocolate for Christmas. My parents live in CT and I'm in MA, so I wanted to support local, and bring them something they hadn't had before. The chocolate was delicious. The toffee and turtles were crowd favorites, and the truffles were impressive- big and substantial. The presentation of the gift wrapping was lovely, and the note I'd added for my parents was HAND written...! I mean- talk about old school attention to detail. Hilliard's will be our go-to for our special occasion chocolates from now on.

I mean just wow! I was in Easton just for the day last Friday. I was on my way to the historic Ames library, when I saw a sign for Hillards ice cream. I took note of it, then kept an eye out for the building as I continued on my way. It sits proudly on the corner at a busy intersection, you can't miss it, a neat white two story building with bold purple trim and a big box of chocolates mounted on the roof, facing the intersection. After I checked out the Ames library and walked around Easton a bit, I made my way back to Hillards. I goofed up and drive into the small parking lot facing the street, but to enter the building, you need to park in the lot behind it. You walk into the building and you're immediately greeted with an enormous amount of sweets beautifully packaged and laid out all over the shop. A very friendly employee came over and offered me a choice of one of two chocolates to sample. I went for the mocha latte piece that comes topped with coffee confetti. It tasted as good as it looked. As good as that piece was, and as good as everything else in the shop looked, I like to try home made ice cream wherever I go, so that's what I got. They have a great selection of some really fun sounding flavors, and you can even get frozen yogurt, or a sundae. I went for one scoop of Colombian Coffee and one of Cookies and Cookie Dough in a waffle cone. The waffle cones they use are nice and thick and they're also folded at the bottom so you don't have to worry about ice cream melting and coming out of the bottom as you eat. The scoops they give are generous, and the ice cream is incredibly flavorful. I sat down on one of the few benches they have outside the entrance, and I enjoyed every last bite of my ice cream. It took me a while to finish it too, with how big the portions are. I wasn't at all hungry afterwards, it was so filling. And, this incredible ice cream, plus a fun experience, was under $10! Next time I'm in the area, I will go out of my way to come back here. Tl;dr: Amazing home made ice cream in a aesthetically pleasing shop, at a reasonable price. Plus, friendly staff! A must try!

We love the selection here at the counter along with the numerous treats around the shop. They always do really well put together seasonal items in fact I picked up an Easter basket for my kid here today. The staff is always very friendly and patient this is an institution and should be a must see for anyone who hasn't popped in to satisfy their sweet tooth. read more

This is definitely my go-to place for when I need a last minute gift and it just so happens that I work around the corner. First of all, their chocolates are amazing. I always pick some up before the Christmas holidays and around Valentine's Day for my sweet. They have an a la carte menu/case in which you can purchase the truffles, fudge, and chocolate by the pound or they have the boxed items. Personally, I stick with the boxed items. The staff here is awesome. In every time I've been here, they have always been professional and courteous despite the sheer amount of customers in the store at any given time. I stopped in once to get chocolates for my mother-in-law who was in Brigham & Women's Hospital for routine surgery the day after the Marathon. I was a nervous wreck and it was apparent. The woman working the cash register that day cried with me over what happened. In a million years I would have never expected it, but she was so kind and helped put me at ease. So there you have it folks... great candy (just ask my waistline), kind and courteous staff (it was the makings of a Lifetime movie), and don't forget the ice cream in the summer! read more

This was my first time at Hillards Chocolates and probably my last. In order to receive 5 stars you need to consider more than quality. 5 stars should also include packaging, price, customer service, and Quality. I purchased a pound box of chocolates as a gift which i can not comment on quality however this box 0f 2 pounds of chocolates was $94.85. a .25 tray of fudge for $8.50 and card for $5.95. Total to Hillards was 109.67. purchase 1/7/23. Complaints. Packaging for fudge in rigid plastic containers disguesting plastic vs by the piece and in a paper box like most cand stores. fudge was good quality but I prefer chocolates sparrow in Orleans or Ye Old Pepermint in Andover Ma. Also I hand picked assortment of chocolates but I was not made aware I was being charged an additional price for chocolates for single sm truffels 45.50 on top of 49.35. Lady just kept filling box. I asked do you gift wrap with wrapping paper and girl said no there was a roll of wrapping paper on counter?? They placed a red ribbon on a plain gold box. only sign of Hillard name was plastic sheet inside. 2 women not personable just doing their job. Very 2 star exprience. I cannot rate chocolates as they are a gift however I do not see myself going out of my way to shop at Hillards again. I think there is more than just 1 factor that makes a 5 star rating and Hillards is clearly not 5 stars read more

I am writing from Pittsburgh PA to thank Terri, office manager at Hilliard's chocolates for going the extra mile for a customer. I purchased a Hilliard's Chocolates gift card online as an anniversary gift and was inadvertently charged a mailing fee. When Terri noticed this, she called from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania to correct the discrepancy. We had a talk about the history of Hilliard's candy company and was a wonderful story to hear about the longevity and commitment of Hilliard's. Terri was a true professional when taking care of my purchase and sent a small gift of chocolate to me along with my gift card. I took time to write this review for two reasons, the professional and courteous service I received and, of course, to say that Hilliard's chocolate is excellent! read more

My coworkers and I created our own summer tradition that we like to call 'ice cream lunch.' Pretty self-explanatory concept, but Hilliard's is the only destination for this summertime favorite. Good variety of flavors and several options for toppings. I usually stick just with the caramel sauce...yum. I also bought an assorted box of chocolates one time as a 'thank you' gift for a friend's family. It was really well-received, and Hilliard's sells all different sizes and assortments of chocolate. They also have cute themed chocolates...holidays, seasonal, etc. read more

Picking up my child from summer camp at nearby Wheaton College, we decided to have ice cream. Boy, we were treated to some good ice creams, and free candies (by checking in thru Yelp - thanks!!!) Staff was friendly. The only drawback - they have no bathroom. read more

Sadly my most favorite chocolate house has lost a step. I've stopped in two weeks in a row looking for the delicious and used to be ever present milk chocolate peanut butter cup to no avail. I wandered aimlessly for minutes after hearing, yet again, "we don't know when we'll make them". Hi I finally had to take consolation in a box of cashew milk chocolate turtles. Sad to see an old faithful standard falling off a bit. I may have to become a "pie guy" and give up chocolate altogether. read more

The quality of the ice cream and chocolates are superb. Just had a toffee ice cream come. Big chunks of delicious toffee mixed in with creamy vanilla ice cream. It was phenomenal. When I get chocolate caramels or nougats I get half dark chocolate and half milk chocolate. Best chocolates I've ever had. The quality is worth the price. read more

SO beautiful! Inside and out. All the Christmas decor and items were out already so it was just stunning. Prices are a smidge on the high side but there are lower priced items too. I purchased fudge (AMAZING) Truffles, and some Christmas decor. Such really cute, unique items. read more

Okay, Hilliard's has the best chocolate, hands down. If you dispute this fact, you are WRONG, and you should probably be evaluated. People always yap about how great the bling-chocolates like Godiva are, but Hilliard's would embarrass such posh confections in a blind taste test. But the real draw to this Hilliard's location is the ice cream. ajjjffffffffffffffffffffffffffffjgggggggggggg... oops. Sorry, I just passed out on my keyboard. Just the thought of Hilliard's ice cream makes me pass out with desire. Could it be the fact that they start off with a high-quality ice cream base that is higher in milk fat than most simpy ice cream joints? Maybe. Could it be the fact that they have unique flavors, some of which actually utilize the truffles they make on the premises? Probably. Could it be the fact that they CRAM their ice cream with good stuff - like if you order cookie dough ice cream, you're going to get a crap-load of cookie dough? Absolutely. Ice cream is a seasonal affair here, so pencil this trek into your summer ventures. This place is sooo worth it. And buy some candy for your loved ones before you leave. That's what Jesus would do if he returned to Earth and indulged at Hilliard's. read more

Interior was so cute like a vintage ice cream shoppe. The frozen yogurt was delicious. Scoopers we're very nice. Prices reasonable and great item choices. Big Plus you walk through the chocolate side in order to get to the ice cream area. read more

Sorry for the score. I really love the chocolate here and am even a fan of the home made ice cream. Yes, great products are expensive ($25 a pound for my favorite chocolates and $5 a scoop for my favorite ice cream) but they are so worth it for a monthly treat. My rating is reflective of the way I am treated when my orders are being filled. On more than one occasion, filling orders is simply chaos. For the money I pay, I expect a dedicated employee to engage me, fill my order and check me out. I don't think that's a lot to ask for (and I am honestly a very easy customer). Instead, I seem to get someone who takes my order (chaos behind the counter seems to occur), someone else fills my order with me correcting their mistakes along the way (chaos happens behind the counter), then I have to head over to the ice cream counter to check out. It is a stressful 5 minutes and it shouldn't be. Chaos events are typically related to someone who doesn't know how to do things at the register - like family discounts for family members at the counter. All I want is 5 minutes of dedicated service for my $25-$50 purchase. read more

The original location is the best because of the larger varieties of candies of all kinds. My favorite thing there is the peanut butter fudge as well as the chocolate almond bark. Haven't had the ice cream yet, looking forward too! read more

Growing up in Easton, Hilliards has always been a staple for me. The chocolate is really good, though after 15 years of being selling/buying those chocolate bars, I'm kind of over the bars. The truffles, fudge..and everything else though is great. The ice cream is OK, not great. I'd definitely rather go to Crescent Ridge for ice cream, sorry. It is a bit on the pricey side, though. You end up spending a lot of money, but I guess that's what you get when you want good chocolate. read more

Note that I only come here for the ice cream. I don't "do" candies or chocolates. So, I can't give any insight or experience in that department. The chocolate ice cream is truly out of this world good. Whenever I go in for a cone, I always take a pint or three home with me. I've eaten a lot of ice cream over the years, and this chocolate ice cream is #1 on my list. I don't know how anyone can get store bought ice cream when this is sitting here waiting. It makes no sense whatsoever. There is also a little seating section in the always nicely air conditioned store if you don't want to be baking in the heat. read more

If you've never had Hilliard's chocolate, you haven't lived yet. Hilliard's candy has filled my family's holidays since I was a kid. I actually sold Hilliard's chocolate bars for school/sports fundraisers...the caramel are my favorite. A couple of friends worked here in high school...it seems they always tend to employ many in that age group, which I think is nice. I enjoy going to Hilliard's for gifts or ice cream and walking in to the scrumptious aromas. So much to love at Hilliard's...their chocolates, jelly beans, peppermint patties, fudge, turtles, sugared gum drop type candies, milk chocolate jimmies & my father's favorite, peanut brittle. A one-stop shop, they even sell gift bags & greeting cards. Lindt, Godiva & even Hershey's don't hold a candle to Easton's own, Hilliard's House of Candy. read more

When I used to live in the South Shore I looked far and wide for good places to eat and tasty treats. Hillard's House of Candy is such a place if you have that desire for something sweet. They're known for numerous homemade confections but what I enjoyed most was their homemade ice cream. They have a variety of flavors and mix in their own candies. I enjoyed their apple crisp ice cream. They even have sugar-free flavors for those who are diabetic. If you're ever down by the IKEA off rt. 24 take a 15 minute ride to this location. Note that the Easton location is the only one that serves ice cream. read more

I have a different go to candy place but it was quicker and easier to get here before the Thanksgiving Holiday to pick up a few things. They do have a decent selection and the quality and price are about the same as my usual place. I do think they could work on the service a little more. I stopped in well before the holiday and middle of the day when it was not too busy. I picked a few things up from the displays in the shop and then wanted to do an assortment from in the counter. I had to flag someone down to help me and then it was very matter of fact to almost as though they didn't want to be inconvenienced. I knew just what I wanted and had only a few simple questions. But if a place doesn't give service with a smile, or seem to appreciate my business then I will go elsewhere. read more

This is the best Milk chocolate that I have had. Not too sweet and oh so creamy! Very fresh, stand outs were the Peanut Butter Cups. (Once you try theirs you will never eat a Reeces again!) Another stand out are the Toasted Coconut Clusters, the best I have ever had. I have not tried the ice cream but plan to go back this summer to try it. Service was friendly and helpful. This is my new to go to place. read more

The Oakes Ames Memorial Hall Board of Trustees just had our annual Friends of OAMH Cookout in the hall. I have to say, because we had Hilliard's Ice Cream, Sorbet and fudge to offer or guests for dessert, the cookout was a delightful success. Tamrah was so helpful and accommodating as we decided which flavors to offer our guests. Hilliard's ice cream, sorbet and fudge has to be the best anyone has ever eaten. If you haven't tried their many flavors, please do so. You won't be disappointed. In fact, you'll keep returning to get more. It's that good! Thank you Hilliard's for making our time the best ever. read more

Excellent products! Needed special holiday gifts for work and small give aways and found reasonably priced boxed chocolates as well as individual pieces for giving as stocking stuffers. Quality is excellent and throughly enjoyed the dark and milk chocolate "turtles" included as a special "to me" gift! Lots of parking and easy to find - a little hidden treasure! read more

Hilliards is the perfect place to go for ice cream and of course chocolate! I went to Hilliards on, 7/12/17, with my friends and it was the best decision we made! It was the perfect way to end the night! The staff there were very welcoming and friendly from when we walked in to when we left. The ice cream was also delicious. Sitting in the eating area was very nice with all the cute decorations, clean space, and overall peaceful atmosphere. I definitely recommend going to Hilliards to have a treat because it is worth it! read more

My mother and five year old son went to Hilliard's yesterday. We each had a small bowl of ice cream. The ice cream was delicious, and seating was very quaint and nostalgic. The store is spotless and decorated beautifully. I also purchased a few chocolates at the counter to bring home. The chocolates were delicious, some of the best I have ever had, especially the dark chocolate varieties. The reason for the three star review was because of the icy cold, borderline rude reception we received at the shop. I probably will not visit again, despite the delicious confections. I felt like we were putting the person who waited on us out by just being there and ordering items. Now I know everyone can have a bad day, and I do not know at all what the situation was that day, but I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. I am usually very forgiving of lukewarm or incompetent service, but this experience was so cold, I felt compelled to comment. read more

I have literally grown up with Hilliard's. Whether buying/selling their chocolate bars through fundraisers or enjoying their ice cream in the summer or indulging in a (huge!) caramel apple or even receiving Valentine's chocolates - I love this place! I recommend their truffles, fudge, and their dark chocolate covered espresso or mocha beans. The location in Easton is so quaint, they always have spirited decorations and the staff is always so friendly. read more

I've always loved coming here. The chocolate is made right there and simply tastes like perfection, and during the summer nothing beats their ice cream. This is always my go-to store whenever I have to do shopping for Mother's Day, etc. read more

We have been making fine chocolates and specialty candy items in New England since 1924! We have three locations North Easton (headquarters and kitchen), Norwell, and Mansfield. It's our goal to make you smile with our delicious confections and we're dedicated to providing a quality product. Whether you're being served in our shop or ordering a gift for a loved one, you will be able to tell our products apart with our love of tradition and pride in our creations. We now also provide nut-free candy that is produced in a facility that is completely nut free. Stop by to try our chocolates, candies, and seasonal treats such as caramel apples, and ice cream in our North Easton location.

History

Established in 1924.

In the early 1900s, Perley and Jessie Hilliard were introduced to the business of candy through Jessie's father. They opened their own store in 1924 and were passionate about making candy, closely studying recipes and creating their own. As the business grew, so did their family. In 1950, their son Alan and his wife Barbara opened Hilliards Kitch-In-Vue Candy. The store, located in a white with blue trimmed former house, with its signature giant candy box affixed to its facade, became a landmark for people in the region and beyond. In 1981, Alan's daughter, Judy, and husband, Charlie, bought the business and renamed it Hilliards House of Candy. Tradition, quality, excellence, and premium candy making did not miss a beat as they opened new stores and launched an online store. Now operating in the 21st Century, we are as proud and fully committed as ever to delighting customers and maintaining the uncompromising commitment to confection perfection that started so long ago.

Current owner, Judy Hilliard McCarthy, is a third generation member of the Hilliard family, proudly carrying on the legacy of high quality, delicious candy as started by her grandparents. Not only does she strive to provide unique products in a warm environment, Judy also emphasizes the importance of excellent customer service in all interactions at Hilliards Chocolates. My sister Connie and her husband Bobby had taken me and their granddaughter Aubrey out looking at Christmas lights and to show Aubrey a special Manger that Grandpa wanted Aubrey to see! It was raining out, I think Bobby wanted to try to save the night, even though Aubrey and I were already enjoying being all together so he pulled in to Hilliards!!! Aubrey got a big huge smile on her face, alright, so did I!!! It was like something I saw in a movie, beyond anything I'd ever imagined.
