I placed an order with this restaurant through GrubHub and was really unhappy with the delivery experience. I live less than three miles away. After waiting 90 minutes, I called to check the status of my order and the person who answered didn't seem to know what I was talking about at first. I ended up waiting a total of 2 hours for my food to arrive and the food was barely room temp when it finally showed up. I called to let the manager know about my experience, but was told the manager was out and I could speak to the person who answered my call. When I told him about my order, he said "Yes, I see your order here. Our driver is on the way. He will be there in 5 minutes." I told him my food was already delivered and I was unhappy because my food was late and cold. He then said he'd received my order 30 minutes ago....Basic knowledge of how food prep and driving times work makes this impossible. I told him I'd be glad to forward the multiple methods of confirmation I received from GrubHub indicating the restaurant received my order at 5pm (it was now past 7pm) and suggested this was a problem between them and GH. He offered a discount on my next order, but I wasn't interested in ordering with them again. I just wanted the manager to know about my experience so it doesn't happen with future customers. After asking multiple times when I could call back to speak with a manager, I was finally told they'd be back in 30 minutes. I was able to speak to the MOD, who said he'd have the restaurant manager call me tomorrow. Hopefully, he does. The food in my order was correct and the flavor was delicious, which is not to be discounted. But other than that, the experience was really unsatisfactory. read more

The quality of the naan bread is usually a good indicator for an excellent curry restaurant what ever the style of origin, however, in this case the naan far exceeded the rest of the meal and I struggle to see how this ended up with 4 stars. Mediocre is my opinion for what it's worth! read more

Very good place. My son is in love with the chicken momos. They are pretty good and they give a lot of them! The last time we had the AYCE lunch buffet and there was a decent selection of food. The vegetable korma was so good, though the diced carrots and peas screamed frozen. Flavor of the dish was yummy, though--I'm craving it just writing about it. Ordered food for delivery. The food arrived within 40 min nicely packed. When I opened the bags I saw tiny containers with small portions inside. At first, I thought the portions were super small for the amount we paid. Surprisingly the food was filling and the taste was average. I did however like the homemade lemonade! Ordered mutton curry for pick up. Quantity was quite good and also they gave 2 box of rice along with that. Taste was good and spicy and number of pieces were also good. However none of the pieces were chewable. While placing order i requested to cook it properly and they didn't even cook it. That completely ruined my dinner. On the price point it was more than $16. I was satisfied with all the things but what's the deal when it is not cooked at all. I very well know how a mutton tastes. It was very disappointing experience. Excellent food and service! We had singada (like a samosa), which was big and very flavorful. The lamb masala and saag aloo were really tasty and if you ask for mild it's flavorful but not spicy. The Hayward premium was light and tasty and reminded me of a staple French beer - the yeti was different and definitely worth tasting! read more

I have a friend who's mom makes amazingly spicy, authentic Indian food. They live out in Riverside though so I've been searching for something close by that can satisfy my craving. This little place is spectacular! Everything is made fresh, the naan comes out piping hot, and the service is extremely attentive. The owner was there too and seemed to really care that we had a great dining experience. I had the chicken curry and spinach with cheese, and both were excellent. NOT SO at the Himalayan Cafe in Old Town Pasadena! Kay had the garlicky Chicken Sekura, from the tandoor oven, and it was smokin' and delish. I had the Chicken Vindaloo - equally lip-smackin' and because we ordered it spicy, we were both sweatin' and grinnin' by the end of the meal. Friend and I decided to give this place a try. We both recently moved our offices a block away. We both ordered diet cokes. Food was slow to be delivered and the owner was clearly growing increasingly aggravated as we asked for refills on our Diet Coke. The glass held very little liquid, especially when filled with ice. As the food was finally delivered, we asked for a refill. After the server/owner goes to refill the small glass, my friend says to me, "I think he's mad cuz I'm asking for refills." Seconds later the server returns to the table and advises my friend that this is the last time he can refill his drink. Server explains to my friend that he has a "limited refill policy." It's Diet Coke dude...it costs less than a penny to fill the glass. My friend inquired as to the definition of a "limited refill policy." Owner just shrugged and was unable to really answer. Meanwhile, the menu states nothing of this subjective policy. As far as the food goes, we both enjoyed our entree but this was after I sent the Tandoori chicken back for being undercooked and a little too pink for my comfort. It arrived covered with onions, but the onions were raw, which is a weird choice. I love onions of all kinds, so I didn't care, but imagine most would find this to be a problem. Also, the cheese naan was bizarre and the cheese was very weird. I've had a fair amount of naan in my life--and never a naan like this. They basically just sprinkled raw cheese inside a piece of pita--not the same thing at all! Food took forever to be delivered, but the offensiveness of the "limited refill policy" is a deal breaker. Owner may have saved himself a few pennies in soda, but lost two professionals new to the area with offices a block away. Stupid business decision! read more

The momo at this place is a must try, I'm talking double down on it if you like dumplings. Then relax and dip your momo in the pickle sauce and enjoy. Sure it sounds dirty but its pretty fantastic. If you like to vege, then the vegetable roll is delish with a little dab of chutney on top. Or, if you like it spicy like me, then some of their hot sauce will light you up. What a welcome surprise in Pasadena. Came here for a impromptu date night and ordered the chicken moo which is a Nepalese potsticker for our appetizer and they were amazing. For our meal we shared the saag paneer, tandoori mixed grill and garlic naan. Perfect for two with leftovers. The part that was really nice was the chef came out and talked to us and made it really feel special. You can tell when a chef is proud of his food...nothing but good vibes here.
