Have been going for a while and tried enough dishes. Need to know what to order to enjoy your experience. Let's share a few. Our favorites are: fried naan - unexpectedly good. Sliced Naan are soaked with cumin and beef flavors. Please don't bring home though, you can only rescue a dried naan once. Goshnaan - juicy yet crispy pastry. It's well balanced. Big plate chicken is good and and authentic to uyghur. Noodles are must and add side order for the sauce. Lamb items (if you don't eat lamb anddidn't order, please don't even comment, fellows) - Skewers are hardly consistent though. Boiled and roasted are good. Disclaimer: I've never ordered the tower, looks too gimmicky. Noodles are all fine. That's their diet so can't be bad. I've had better polo elsewhere. Special tea: during and after meal. Great smell and flavor to carry through your meal. Service is great. They have a unique culture in hosting. The owners/partners are nice but servers turnover may occasionally affect your experience a bit. Tell the owners and they'll fix it for you. read more

Been on my list for a while, finally made the detour to try it out. Eating by myself so didn't get to try as many dishes as I would have liked. The naan was quite plain, great for mopping up sauce but underwhelming by itself. Wish I had tried the Goshnaan. The special noodles were really tasty. Wish there was a little more meat but the overall serving was generous so can't complain. Good sauce at the end to soak the naan. Not spicy but full of flavor and spices. And finally the special tea. I was blown away. $10 for tea for one is a lot but I am so glad I tried it. The aroma is intoxicating and it tastes just as good. I bought a little tub to take home as I saw someone else recommend. Maybe I had high expectations of this place but being one of high rated restaurants i was super excited to try this place. Having lived in Alhambra, I have gone to the previous place in the same place. They had great noodles ans wonton. Boy do I miss that place. Circling back here, we ordered mapo tofu, chicken kababs,, a uyghur naan, and a pulled noodle dish. The spice levels here is nice and the portions are okay. I didn't think the map tofu was a must get. It tastes different than your traditional Chinese version and yet it has heat like the szechuan peppercorns. It came lukewarm like the rest of the dishes. The only server in the restaurant never came back to check on us the whole hour we were there. So we never had refills on water. The best things here were the naan and the hand pulled noodles. For the two of us, we ordered 3 of their most popular items. + Big Plate Chicken - the small is BIG haha. We chose the bone-in and the chicken was juicy. Came with a bunch of friends and got a little bit of everything. The dishes at this place are so big so everything is very shareable. Service was nice and friendly and there is parking in the lot or in the neighborhood streets. If you park in the neighborhood streets you can also enter through the back entrance. Their spice level is pretty spicy so would recommend mild or medium. The noodle plate is always a favorite of ours. Even if you can't finish, the orders are just as good the next day as well. Dolan is a good choice for lunch or dinner. Their menu features beef, lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes. I liked the decor with art displayed throughout the main dining room. It gives the restaurant a classy look. The table and chairs were made of mahogany, they use linen tablecloths which is an added touch of elegance. I ordered the beef hand-pulled noodles, which was flavorful and had a spicy kick. It was delicious and filling. I was dining solo, but recommend coming with a group to try a variety of food. I really was interested in the Kebab and soups, but it was too much food for one person. The entree prices range from $15 to $20 for lunch and $30-50 for dinner. We came here because we enjoyed the Rowland Heights location and wanted to give the Alhambra one a try. First off, it's a simply beautiful restaurant, very stylish overall. In terms of service, it was just okay. We never had our water refilled, nor did we get any check-ins after the food was ordered and dropped off. The food itself was also just alright at best; it didn't hit the same as the other location. Here's what I tried: Fried Naan with Beef - Interesting dish, almost like a fried baguette loaded with cumin. The beef was good, but the flavors quickly became overbearing and too strong for my taste. Very carb-heavy. (3.5/5) Spicy Fried Rice Noodle - Looked great at first but also became overwhelming. The sauce was extremely salty, and I usually love salty food, but this was too much. The noodles themselves were good, though. (3.5/5) Lamb Kebab - My favorite dish of the night. I didn't love that you have to order a minimum of three skewers, but the flavor was great. Be warned: the metal skewers are hot. (4.5/5) Overall, we were disappointed with what we got. Some of the best quality noodles in SGV can be found here. The big plate chicken dish here is just decent as the chicken was okay, sauce was okay, and the potatoes didn't have that stir-fried flavor and I've had better renditions of this dish in Chinatown Manhattan/Flushing. However, the wide firm noodles in this had the perfect texture and are some of the best noodles I've ever had. I also loved the noodles in the Special Laghman Noodles and the flavor in this reminded me of that of a liang pi dish. Visited: December 2025. Monday ~6:30pm. Setting: Spacious. Traditional decor and looks classier than your average restaurant. The tables are covered with disposable paper to protect the cloth underneath. They play Uyghur music at a reasonable volume so you can still have a conversation while listening. Wait Time: None. A few tables were taken when I arrived, but I was seated immediately. Food/Drink: This was my first time trying Uyghur cuisine. I cheated by picking things sort of familiar to me. The portions were generous. - Mapo Tofu ($13.95): Served HOT and with the right amount of numbing spice. It was just what I expected! - Tomato Eggs Laghman ($14.95): My first time having laghman. It had quite a chewy texture which I grew to like. The tomato egg sauce was perfectly sweet and tangy and the tomato and egg pieces were conveniently cut into bite sizes. - Plain Rice ($2.75): A bowl of long-grain rice. Pretty big scoop! Service: Awesome! The waiter was so polite and quick despite being the only one manning the front. I noticed after ordering with him that you can also order by scanning a QR code. That might come in handy when it's crowded. Also, my 2 to-go containers toppled over in the car and not a drop of sauce spilled out. Nice and sturdy. Parking: There are parking lots to the left and right of the restaurant. There were ample spots in the bigger lot (left) at dinner time. Parking is super easy with a lot available in the back, which is always a plus. We tried a variety of dishes, and overall the food was delicious. The lamb soup was a standout: incredibly flavorful yet still light, the kind of dish you could happily finish to the last drop. The Uyghur polo, a braised fried rice dish, was another hit -- rich, aromatic, and cooked perfectly. We also ordered the lamb and chicken kabobs. Who knew this delicious food existed? We had the small version of the Big plate chicken and every piece of chicken was deeply flavorful. The surprising thing is I could not identify the spices at all. The broad noodle was delightfully springy. The next course was the Goshnaan which was a stuffed flat bread which was very crispy. The meat stuffing was super tasty. I loved the Uyghur salad. It was the most garlicky dressing I have ever had so be warned. The Uyghur Polo is a flavored rice with lamb paired very well with the salad. Come and give this food a try, you will love it. What a great find on Yelp! If you are into Chinese/turkish cuisine, you must visit Dolan. Came here on a Saturday and it was busy but didn't need reservations. Service is very friendly and attentive and I especially loved that no one rushes you out of the restaurant. My friend and I sat for over 2.5 hours just talking and loved that they don't get the check till you ask. Loved the tea, they do fill the pot up (twice for us during our dinner). We ordered the garlic cucumber appetizer and it was delicious! My friend, who is polish, doesn't like spicy food but ended loving the small plate chicken. It has a perfect level of spice and it was a big hit for the night. We also ordered the lamb and chicken kababs and they were ok, nothing to rave about. I finally got to try this spot after passing it so many times! We ordered the big plate chicken, uyghur goshnaan, spicy noodles beef manti, and the pearl noodles. Everything was very extremely flavorful, but too salty for our tastes. The big plate chicken was our favorite, but it was pretty spicy. My kids couldn't eat any of the dishes we got and complained they were spicy (even the ones labeled as non-spicy). However, everything was very unique in flavor for us today, but too salty. We had to order additional white rice to eat with the food to balance the saltiness. Overall, still a pretty good experience. The noodles were chewy, and the beef and chicken were soft and not dry. Hiding in plain sight. Wedged in between a Sushi joint and a Boba Shop with a line snaking around the building. For Boba? Okay, out of the corner of your eye you will see Dolan's with a large sign that faces an inner courtyard. The Hostee/Server eventually noticed me after stalking her for 10 minutes. (Reminds of the girl I sat next to in 20th Century English Literature in College). The Hostee nodded at an empty table and then wandered back to her station with the speed of a home loving snail. Dining at Dolan's was a Yin Yang moment. The server moved at glacial speed but the food comes out of the kitchen like a Gatling Gun. While you wait you can enjoy the loop of Middle Eastern Music which made me want to call the Midwife as the singer sounded like she was going to give birth to a Shetland Pony without anesthesia. No matter, somehow the music helps set the mood for the food. Who's here? No one except the couple who thought they were in the Boba Shop. Staff: One beleaguered Uyghur. Traditional Laghman "An original Beef experience (sounds like an OnlyFans misadventure). The Beef Experience lay on top a tangle of hand pulled noodles each one at least two feet long. These required a sharp knife to sever them. No knife? Just hail the Server, and then hail again. Bell Pepper pieces and quartered Onions dotted the dish. "A classic dish bursting with goodness," implored the menu. (That described the chubby best friend of the girl I sat next to in 20th Century English Literature). How to describe the Beef Experience? Stringy and chewy swimming in the same sauce that the other dishes were swimming in. The economy of scale makes sense, so I get a 55 gallon drum of sauce. It freezes well. The Uyghur Gooshnaan was a skinny meat pie with a schmear of stringy chewy Beef inside a thin pastry. Now, it did look pretty with it's edges nicely braided, but then pretty is as pretty eats. Four wedges to an order. I ate one. How bout some Boneless Small Plate Chicken knobs with tender Potatoes, (read over cooked), vibrant Bell Peppers, aromatic Leeks, all atop Hand Pulled Knife Cut Flat Noodles that stood their ground against the side of my fork. "A savory adventure in every bite." Give that 20th Century English Literature drop out ample praise for the prose. I just just wish the food could keep up. Would I return? Sure. I had never had Uyghur food in my life, and I was curious. We went by the recommendation of the staff since we weren't sure about some dishes. We had a spicy chicken dish that was slightly on the spicy side (for mild) and good with rice. I would say their food is chinese with a middle eastern twist . Their lamb skewers were the highlight! Dolan's can even roast a whole lamb that serves around 25 people if you let them know ahead of time. Their desserts include baklava, honey yogurt and a honey cake which we were delicious. tl;dr skip the underwhelming appetizers; the signature Uyghur-style noodles, rich green beans, and dessert yogurt together constitute a delicious meal with leftovers Like many of Dolan's Uyghur Cuisine first-timers, I was unfamiliar with the Central Asian-style culture and cuisine. As owner Bugra Arkin informatively explains, the Uyghurs are a Turkic ethnic group within the Xinjiang region of China, and "Dolan" refers to the people within this area. When he opened Dolan's in 2019, Arkin intentionally chose the Chinese-centric city of Alhambra. Besides sharing his unique culture and cuisine, Arkin also uses his restaurant as a platform to bring attention to the cultural genocide happening in Xinjiang. Nowadays, Dolan's is routinely ranked among must-try Alhambra eats. Dolan's occupies its own lot on a busy industrial block of Valley. Climbing ivy and the logo of a mustachioed man in a doppa (a traditional Uyghur headdress) pop against the tan plaster exterior. Inside, the whitewashed walls are decorated with Turkish tiles and Uyghur artwork. Red and blue stained-glass lamps alternate along the length of the room. Ornate wooden chairs are pressed up to sophisticated white-linened tables. The low din of chatter mixes with traditional Uyghur music. I have visited Dolan's twice for dinner, and on neither occasion did I face any wait to be seated. I enjoyed kicking off my meal with the Uyghur Milk Tea, a traditional mixture of black tea, milk, and salt served in a glass mug. The creamy beverage was uniquely salty, almost like a stock or broth. I sipped it gingerly, while my partner couldn't get enough. The pie-like appetizers (the Ughur Goshnaan and the Quyash Qatlima) were burning hot but otherwise less-than-memorable. The former quickly fell apart when picked up, and the filling tasted overwhelmingly like peppers and onion rather than meat; I admittedly only ate the filling and the flaky top crust, as the bottom layer quickly became gummy. The latter was similarly bland, and the sliced meat erred on the grizzly side. The Kava Manta were stuffed with slightly sweet shredded pumpkin, diced onion, and peppers; however, the resultant dumplings didn't have much additional flavor, and they were sorely in need of a dipping sauce or another source of salinity. The diced Cucumber with Garlic was light and refreshing, if not forgettable. While the appetizers all underwhelmed, a few main dishes delighted. The "small" Boneless Big Plate Chicken was formidably large, and the hefty chicken chunks were braised in a fragrant sauce of cinnamon, star anise, and Sichuan peppercorns; albeit, I was surprised to find the chicken slightly dry. You must get an extra side of noodles; the broad, al dente-style noodles were the ideal conduit to soak up more delicious sauce. The Laghman noodles were similarly highlighted by al dente noodles, with a slightly thinner (and less flavorful) sauce; the few slices of meat failed to stand out. Of the sides, I was most impressed by the crispy Stir Fried Green Beans tossed in a deliciously rich garlic-soy sauce. The sweet and spicy Braised Eggplant sported a thick, aromatic sauce, but the eggplant itself lost any semblance of texture. Of the desserts, the clear winner was the Homemade Yogurt. Topped with raisins, nuts, and a thick layer of honey, the bowl achieved the ideal balance of sweet and tart. In contrast, the dry, muted Honey Cake was a major disappointment. Service was friendly but occasionally spotty, and our bill worked out to ~$100 (after tax and tip) for 3-4 guests. Only the green beans were a home run, but the collective meal proved to be approachable, tasty, and filling. While I can see Dolan's as an ideal dinner destination for a larger party, my partner and I would gladly split the chicken and a veggie in the future. read more

All I can say is go here! If you are familiar with Uyghur cuisine, then you will love this place. If you are not familiar, you are in for a treat! The food here is delicious, plentiful and well prepared. Great flavors and well seasoned food. The service is good and the staff is attentive. We wanted for nothing on any of our many visits to Dolan's. The restaurant is clean and well kept. We are comfortable in the space and they can accommodate larger parties with a bit of notice. I cannot speak highly enough about this place if you want authentic Uyghur cuisine served by genuine people. read more

Came here on a Monday with a party of 5 and was seated right away. Shared a family style of Laghman, Korma Chop, Big Plate Chicken, Uyghur Polo, and Samsa. The Uyghur Polo was my favorite. It didn't taste like the normal Chinese fried rice I'm used to since it has such unique spices and ingredients added to it. On top of that, I loved how they chopped up the lamb into tiny pieces since lamb can have such a strong flavor. The lamb was very soft and cooked perfectly. The rice wasn't soft but more al dente. Other than that, I would highly recommend ordering this. The chicken was very soft and super flavorful; however, I felt like it reminded me too much of just chicken with soy sauce. Also, the pieces were a bit too big for my liking. The Laghman had a whole bunch of ingredients added to it, quite delicious and with a tiny little kick of spice. The Korma Chop tasted like an udon dish but more of a hardened texture noodle and fried base. Lastly, the Samsa was so good. It had such a great crispy outer layer with a generous portion of ground beef inside. I did wish the ground beef would stick together a bit more since it tended to fall apart into tiny pieces when bitten into. Other than that, I'm not familiar with Turkish food, but after coming here, I am glad I got to try it since it was quite an experience and definitely unique and different. This is an unusual establishment by Asian restaurant standards (as this is an Uygur restaurant) but many dishes are exceptionally very good. I'm a connoisseur of Central Asian cuisine and locally the best chefs were Uyghurs and their food preparation was considered the very best. Of course how it is prepared largerly dependent on ingredients and while they don't taste the same in the US, this place is still very authentic. I never ate at the restaurant in person but I ordered DoorDash plenty of times. I highly recommend their pumpkin dumplings called kava manta. Their beef samosa is very flavorful. Their handmade noodles are delicious and their honey cake is a labor of love. Their service is also great whenever I called I got promt service. I highly recommend trying this local and very authentic place, you will be pleasantly surprised. read more

What is Uyghur??? you may ask ... what a great question. I asked the same when I first heard of this place. The Uyghurs are a Turkic ethnic group that is culturally affiliated with Central and East Asia. Hence, they have a fusion of Turkish-Chinese in their cuisine. Service is always prompt, efficient, and polite. I love their restaurant interior decor as well. Items and instruments from their culture. Food here is unique and amazingly delicious!!! If you like savory, rich spices, their dishes are exactly that. 1. Big Plate Chicken (5/5) You can choose between small "Big Plate" (can easily serve 4) or large "Big Plate." Regardless, it's a big, flat, plate with filled generously with tender, spicy, stir-fried chicken, potatoes, leek and flat hand-pulled noodles. The sauce is super savory with notes of capsicum ... it's addicting and I seriously can't get enough of this. 2. Dolan's Tower Kebab (5/5) A tower with spikes that hold slices of marinated roasted lamb. The lamb is not super gamey and is cooked/prepped well. It takes about 20 minutes for them to prep this, which is not an issue as you indulge in their other mouth-watering dishes. 3. Uyghur Goshnaan (5/5) This is pastry dish that reminds me of like a naan bread that's filled with a savory blend of ground beef, lamb, onions and their special black pepper spice. Super delicious, but also super filling. It's a bit oily, so it can induce heartburn/acid-reflux if you are prone to it like my brother. 4. Quyash Qatlima (4.5/5) I have never seen this baked pastry before. It's so pretty in its design. It's almost like a baked pie filled with ground beef, tomato, and lots of mozzarella cheese. The outer pie shell is a bit hard, but the inside is full of rich flavor. It's hard to describe. Just try it! 5. Samsa (5/5) Oven baked flaky puff pastry stuffed with beef and onions 6. Manta (4/5) Not sure what this is, but it reminds me of a large dumpling that's filled with beef and onion 7. Diced Noodles (5/5) Stir fried noodled with beef and bell pepper, carrots and green onions. The noodles are super QQ and diced into little macaroni-sized bites. Super savory and full of flavor that just punches your taste buds in every direction. 8. Homemade Yogurt (5/5) I love their in-house made creamy, smooth and rich yogurt. You get that tartness of a greek-style yogurt, but yet it is not too thick. It is also slightly sweet from the honey and raisin they add in. I love the crushed walnuts, which adds a bit of extra texture 9. Uyghur Milk Tea (3/5) Not my favorite unfortunately. I tried this because I am typically a milk tea lover. Their version is more on the milky side without a lot of tea flavor. I would opt for the Dolan's Specialty tea instead 10. Dolan's Specialty Tea (5/5) Wow, amazing home-brewed tea with a combination of herbs that I cannot even begin to describe what it consists of. *** Los Angeles Times 101 Best Restaurants (2024): #44 *** Located on Valley Blvd in Alhambra, Dolan's Uyghur Cuisine FAR exceeded expectations. The two of us came here today for lunch and left completely satisfied. Featuring huge portions, delicious food, quick service, and a nice ambiance, this is a place I'd love to come back to. To eat, the two of us split the Traditional Laghman ($15.95), Big Plate Chicken (small order/boneless: $23.95), and Uyghur Naan ($5.50). I'll note that the menu price for the "small" Big Plate Chicken was actually a dollar cheaper than what we were charged ($22.95). No big deal. Everything that we ordered was cooked to perfection. The noodles, in particular, were outstanding in both the Laghman and Big Plate Chicken. While the Laghman dish was my definite favorite, I was quite impressed by how tender and flavorful the chicken was. I would highly recommend both of these items. If looking for a top notch restaurant in the Alhambra area, Dolan's Uyghur Cuisine is an excellent option. The chewy texture of the hand-pulled noodles is unrivaled, and the flavor is on point. I ordered the Uyghur Goshnaan. It was juicy, delicious, and authentic. I liked that the server asked if I wanted my water with or without ice. Definitely need to come back to try other dishes. There's plenty of seating inside and outside the restaurant. There's one stall for men and one stall for women. The parking lot is not big but there were spots available. read more
