Pleasantly surprised how delicious Himalayan's dishes were. We felt that everything we ate was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Their mango dressing on its salad was so light and refreshing. The vegetarian simosas were filled with a generous amount of filling - again perfectly seasoned. And their tofu, kale, potato curry was so tasty and not heavily doused with coconut milk. My friends and I just enjoyed an absolutely DELICIOUS dinner here tonight. We all ordered a different dish and shared. The Chicken Tikka Masala was creamy and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The organic mixed salad had a really flavorful home made mango dressing on it. We ordered the Fried Noodles and the Chicken Tikka Tandoori for the first time and wow, they were both so delicious!! Three of us went there for dinner one evening. The service was excellent. The ambience on the outside patio was most enjoyable. The food had its high points, with two small disappointments. Overall, the food preparation was excellent, with a most tasty accommodation of a special bread request, a delicious and puffy puri. The two disappointments were the pakoras, which were dense and mealy, and the ras malai, which appeared to contain farina rather than just being cheese curds. They were very dense and unfortunately, also very dry. Nevertheless, a most enjoyable meal, and we will definitely return! read more

Neither my husband or I had ever tried Himalayan food before, so this was new for us. It's not too different from Indian cuisine. The food we ordered was excellent but I will warn you that we asked for medium spicy and it was on the verge of being difficult to eat. We asked for 2.5 on a scale of 1-10 because we both like spicy food. I'd probably have been happier with mild. Anyway, i ordered chicken vindaloo and husband ordered Himalayan curried goat. I liked both equally. Very delicious. We also ordered butter naan and it was great. The house wine is Murphy-Goode, so unless you're picky about your wine, I'd stick with that as it is pretty decent. Only wish we weren't traveling so we could have taken home the leftovers. read more

Just b/c we had never been there - we took a side trip to Windsor, CA on Sept. 1, 2018. We walked about the little town and saw some cute shops, businesses and parks. We all have to keep Yelp current, don't cha' know?! ;-) Found an Indian Himalayan restaurant. We did a walk by to see the menu and peaked inside. It looked delightful inside and staffed Indian peoples. Always a good sign when you visit a place that knows it's own business. Their culinary trends are influenced by their Heritage. We ordered the Lunch Daily special; comes with cup of soup, salad and your choice of meat or vegetarian, rice & naan. Soup comes out first. Mulligatawny soup, okay taste. It could have used more substance, seemed watery. Just sayin'. My chicken tikka came with salad, rice and naan. All fresh tasting and was enjoyed. I felt the portions were small. Lovely day, pleasant staff, flavorful lunch. Lost a point b/c of water-downed soup and small portions. We closed the restaurant lunch hour. The staff sat down nearby, to eat their meal. Perfectly Executed. Vegan Options Galore. Fresh. Flavorful. Unique. Satisfying. This was our second time dining here, both times following a wrestling tournament in Windsor with our son. The first time we came, Yelp drew us here for the vegan options. We made sure to come back this year when the tournament wrapped up because we were so impressed last time. First off, to summarize this place in terms easy to understand: think Indian food, but fresher, healthier and more flavorful. This place is impeccable. The decor is modern, the staff is great and the food is worth coming back for. We dined tonight on the Lentil Soup, some vegan rotti bread, fried noodles and fried rice. All dishes were immaculate. The Lentil Soup is so damn good. It's light, packed with flavor, and doesn't seem oil laden. Not much 'filling' in the soup, but it doesn't matter; really. It's worth coming back all by itself. Even better, it's served in the cup portion size for free with entrees. Don't settle for that, though; get yourself a full bowl portion. And yes, it's 100% vegan. The vegan Rotti was also spot on. Soft, dense, piping hot on delivery. The perfect dipping apparatus for the soup. While not 'Naan' bread, it's a perfect vegan substitute. The Fried Noodles and Fried Rice were so unorthodox that it's hard to fathom. Fried rice and fried noodles without an oily feel or residue? Yup. Not sure how they pull it off, but they do. We've been here several times - Surprised we didn't yelp prior. Having said that in the past it's been one of our favorite spots for "Indian" food. The past two visits have been a let down. Not sure if it's how we ordered. This time we did mild - and it had zero heat and flavor. I'll take responsibility and say we should've ordered medium. We did vegetarian samosas - again, lacked flavor. Even the side sauces fell flat this time. These must've been made ahead of time. They came out to us within minutes and were Luke warm. This is a normal staple- we will pass next time. Chicken tiki masala - without the heat not that exciting - chicken was tender. Our bad for ordering mild. Would do this (lamb) medium heat next time. Sag paneer - this is one of our favorites - again we screwed up and ordered mild- but the texture was off tonight. The cheese was broken and it was like "cottage cheese" mixed in the spinach. This restaurant is a blissful retreat into some sumptuous Himalayan cuisine for these Pandemic Times. The staff are always so kind, responsive, and helpful. My all time favorite dishes: Keema Matar: ground lamb in a delicious curry. So mouth watering delicious that I'm reluctant to share with the rest of our family...I get dibs! Their Dal soup enriches the soul. So warm, nourishing, and tasty. I always order the biggest container...leftover soup is great on rice or as a healthy snack. Samosa Chaat: sinfully creative combo of onions, cilantro-mint chutney, tamarind chutney, tangy yogurt, onions and apple on a split potato samosa. So mouth watering! We stopped in here on the Saturday night before Easter for a quiet dinner among whatever other heathens were using the holiday for a wine country weekend. Surprisingly, it was pretty crowded given how deserted the rest of Windsor seemed to be. We were immediately seated near a window-side table - no reservations needed! The service is friendly, the decor is cozy and gorgeous, and there's ample space so you don't feel crammed into your seat. You can expect some of your Indian food favorites (palak paneer, bangain bharta, etc.), along with more Nepalese grub like momo. I ordered their Chai ($2), and it was honestly one of the best cups of chai I've ever had. Sweet and incredibly well-balanced with spices. They'd run out of eggplant right after we ordered the Eggplant Bharta, which was a bummer, but we replaced it with the Spinach Paneer immediately. We also ordered the Chicken Tikka, Raita ($3) and a side of Garlic/Cilantro Naan. Although we ordered "medium" spiciness (having been burned in the past), we found our entrees surprisingly bland. They were fine and we enjoyed our meal, but in the future we'll definitely go with "spicy". The raita was kind of underutilized due to the overall mildness of our meal, but delicious. I ended up eating it plain and it was great! I'm not rushing back here anytime in the future, but I wouldn't be unhappy about another visit. Had lunch here yesterday with a friend, the lunch specials are well priced and generous. I had the pumpkin chicken curry, my friend had the tandori tofu and veggies. This place reminds me, in both flavor and menu items, of Himalayan Grill in Santa Rosa--and since HG happens to be is one of my favorite restaurants, I was not at all upset by this. I'd almost venture to guess that they're owned/run by the same people, but who knows? I was there on the 4th of July. Most tables were full, but our servers were both so quick and observant that we were never left waiting; food arrived promptly and our waters were refilled before they were empty... So 5 stars for service! I had the vegetable korma, butter naan, samosas, and a free lentil soup (with Yelp check-in). My dining companion got the mixed vegetables. I asked for medium spicy; she asked for spicy, and we were both pleased with our respective heat levels. Everything seemed fresh and well executed. The curry was rich and fragrant, the naan was soft and moist, and there was plenty of rice. My only gripe was with the samosas--not actually bad, just not quite what I was used to. The wrappings weren't flaky at all and the filling was sort over blended... like a paste. Not enough salt either. That said, the chutneys that came with them were absolutely top notch--particularly the mango--and I wished there had been more. Overall, a satisfying meal, and a good, solid place--worth a try, especially if you live in the area. Lots of veggie options, and it looks like they run a nice lunch special as well. read more

I haven't eaten at a good Indian restaurant back home in a long time. My favorite one closed down years ago and the rest aren't worth the drive. I came across Himalayan on yelp and we gave it a try. Absolutely delicious!!! Parking was easy, food came out quickly, service was outstanding. If you love Tibetan / Himalayan cuisine, you will enjoy this place. The chef has great skill with spices, the ingredients are wholesome, the preparation is competent, portion sizes are generous and the food pleasure factor is high. My lovely spouse who normally does not enjoy Indian / Pakistani / Afgani cuisine really likes the food here. Dining room ambience is causal. Servers are happily pleasant. I ate 4 different dishes. All had distinctive flavors, there was no muddle. Lowest item on my score sheet was the plain naan. It was a little leathery, but the garlic naan was damn near perfect (probably was made from a different dough batch). Prices are quite reasonable, even for cheapskates like me. The lamb keema matar combo lunch (4 items) costs a whopping $10.99. If it's a cold, wet winter day and you need some warming, belly filling carbohydrates this place is an excellent choice. read more

So delicious!! My boyfriend and I tried this place while we were in Windsor looking for vegan options. We started with the vegetable pakoras that were so good. Perfectly crunchy and the chutneys were all fabulous. For entrees we shared the fried noodles and the aloo gobi curry with a side of brown rice and rotti bread. The lunch portions are perfect! The last time I came here I ended up getting one of the special, which was chicken and spinach (medium hot), and it came with a side of brown rice and a salad that had fruit in it (which was tasty) and of course some naan. The main entree was super flavorful, and I loved the amount of heat along side it. I've also gotten the lamb vindaloo, which again was large chucks of lamb in a thick spicy gravy. So far I haven't been disappointed. I have taken so many people to the Himalayan and every one of them loved it from my young grandchildren who always ask for the yummy soup to my friends in their 80's who always find a dish they love. I personally go several times a month, almost always for the lamb which is always so succulent. Lamb Korma is my absolute favorite but the lamb shanks are wonderful as well. Their bread, the Nan, and the mango chutney are loved by all of us. The yogurt drink, Mango Lassi and the mango salad dressing are outstanding too.
