Excellent food and attentive service - the Brussels sprouts were amazing and the tikka masala sauce was also delicious.

I am no expert on Nepalese food. I hoped to have an enjoyable meal and learn something about this cuisine while visiting the SF Peninsula for a meeting. The restaurant had a nice informal atmosphere. The waitstaff was cordial and explained the items on the menu and, as we requested, identified those that were typically Nepalese, rather than Indian. We had Momos, similar to a Chinese steamed dumplings but with unique spices, and a lamb curry. We also had garlic naan and a manga lassi. Every item was well prepared, nicely presented and absolutely delicious. My wife, who is generally not of fan of South Asian cuisines, really enjoyed the lamb curry, to her surprise. There are a few Himalayan restaurants on the Peninsula. This is the best Himalayan meal we have eaten. The Chicken Momos have the best skin being light, thin with a great filling. If you've had Naan it wasn't as good as this one. The Naan again is light, thin and flavorful. We will be going back. read more

TL;DR - first time eating here, fairly new restaurant, great experience, will definitely go back. Just had a really enjoyable lunch here with my fiancée. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and had helpful suggestions on the menu. The menu is a fusion, and we were interested in trying dishes that we had not tried in other restaurants or cuisines. After listening to recommendations and asking a couple questions, we decided on a lentil soup, a type of pancakes with egg, tandoori prawns, and a lamb curry with a side of butter naan. For drinks, we went with Mango Lassi. Spice level is customizable, so we decided to go medium for everything to calibrate. Nothing was too mild or too spicy, so pretty accurate with the spice levels. The flavors were excellent (nothing was boring), presentation/garnishes were great, and we quickly got full and ended up taking half of the pancakes and most of the lamb curry and naan home. For pacing, the dishes were brought one at a time, and the staff sort of checked with us as each came out to confirm that they'd let us enjoy the current dish, then bring the next one. We thought this made for a leisurely pace without being slow, and I am sure they would have accommodated if we wanted everything brought out at once. Since we didn't want to rush, this was great. This was our first time at Himali after hearing lots of praise from a good friend. Upon entering, we were pleased to see the dining room near capacity with well dressed patrons and a bustling semi-open kitchen with "all hands on deck" creating some amazing spiced aromas. We were promptly greeted by a kind Nepalese man who I'm assuming is the owner. He genuinely showed interest in sharing his culture with us, as this was our first time at a Himalayan restaurant. We ordered some traditional dishes (bara, gobi manchurian, Nepalese chow mein and Breda Ko Masu). All were fantastic! At mild spice level, it had a gentle kick that my wife enjoyed and with a side of traditional chili sauce, my palate was satisfied. All dishes paired well with a Chardonnay but in hindsight, a slightly sweeter white like a Moscato would have been better. At the end of our meal, we decided that Himali Bistro is a fantastic new addition to the Peninsula and we definitely plan to revisit! read more

Me and my wife had great time with Nepalese taste. It was our first time and Mr. Rob and Bob were very attentive to us. We had chicken momo, chicken chilli, tandoori shrimp, Nepalese style chicken curry with rice, and some salads and deserts. Spice level and taste were as we expected (specially my wife). They also gave us a window table, that was relaxing and good view spot. We enjoyed food and had good time. It was not that crowded but to have a peaceful dinner and some chatting, we liked it. We tried Himali Bistro tonight on Broadway in Burlingame. Wow what a refreshing new restaurant! Honestly, everything we tried was spiced, seasoned, and cooked perfectly. Not that we are vegan, but the Naan bread is vegan... and fantastic (light and crispy). For apps, we tried the chicken Momo dumplings which our 10 year old loved. Also, we tried the crab cakes and fried chicken which were both awesome. For entrees, we got the shrimp, chicken, and salmon from the tandoor oven -- all with excellent flavors. The real surprise was the lamb stew -- it was not gamey at all, and the stew itself was excellent. We will definitely be returning to Himali Bistro soon to try more dishes! read more

My friends and I had dinner here tonight and loved the chicken special as well as the chicken tikka masala and the sag paneer and the naan - everything was superb including the service We're definitely coming back. Our only criticism is they need a large clear sign! We keep looking for a sign for "Himali Bistro" on Broadway and then stumbled upon after walking past it, thinking it was a Japanese beef place which is the other sign. read more

My colleague and I were in Burlingame for a conference, and came here for dinner. The food was absolutely fantastic, and the menu has a wide variety of items. My colleague ordered Chow Mein, and they made it vegan for her, and I had the Tandoor salmon. We also shared an order of Gobi Manchurian for an appetizer. The flavors were perfect, and the service was impeccable. Although I am not often in Burlingame, I have no doubt that I will return to Himali Bistro the next time a conference brings me here. read more

We found this restaurant thanks to Yelp. Although it is billed as Nepalese, Indian, and Chinese, we asked Deepak the waiter what would be true Nepalese. He suggested Dal Bhat-lentil soup, potatoes, cauliflowers, and basmatic rice-among others. We both added the chicken curry, mild (plenty spicy, though). Also had the plain Naan. The rice was a bit lumpy, but did not detract from an overall outstanding meal. We can't wait to go back and try the other dishes, lamb shank particularly. Himali Chicken Chili - the chicken was tender, flavorful and had a delicious sauce. The 4 of in our group thought this dish was the best. Bara - The lentil pancakes - not spicy and a nice accompaniment to the chicken. Lamb Vindaloo - the lamb was marinated in a curry. Delicious. Excellent flavors and served over rice. It was my first time at this restaurant and I was greeted by Deepak Nepal who was friendly and courteous. He helped me with my selections which turned out to be very good. The crab cakes were presented beautifully and were outstanding. My main entree was lamb curry and I asked for it not to be too spicy and it was perfect. We had the fries (excellent), the chicken momos (excellent), the Bara with egg (excellent), the paneer tikka masala (also excellent). My friend had something that isn't listed on the menu online, and I don't remember what it was called, but she had a chicken curry with another vegetable curry served with a side of a lentil soup and some other sauces. With also had a the garlic naan. This was one of the best meals I have had in a while and a welcome addition to the Broadway area. Our server was the sweetest and he was super helpful and attentive. I will definitely be back. For the price, we got TONS of food, and it was a great deal. I can't wait to try everything else on the menu. read more
