There are several small tables and a few multi-person tables indoors and outdoors. SERVICE Staff checked up on patrons dining in, which I appreciated. DRINK 5/5 It's Clearly Ube - Clarified Milk Punch Cold brew concentrate, pineapple, orange, coconut, pandan, and ube over a large rock with a pandan leaf. Best enjoyed for here. I will gladly wait in a line out the door for Little While. The personal, friendly service and amazing drinks and bites make it worth it. There is ample indoor and outdoor patio seating. The cafe interior is tastefully decorated. Coming from the Bay Area, I admittedly have high expectations for matcha and pastries. I was very impressed with everything we ordered. The maple in the LW Matcha Latte added just the right amount of sweetness, and the coconut water lets the matcha shine. My husband enjoyed his Matcha Latte as well. Bonus points to Little While for NOT up-charging for dairy free milk alternatives! I was eyeing the Kaya Kouign Amann and Sweet Corn Concha; very glad we got both. Finally came to try this place! And what good timing, a very short line on a saturday AM. I want to come back and try all their things. Alas tried their clarified ube cold brew-- which looks , tastes and feels like a cocktail- complete with pandan garnish and a big ol ice cube. Little while's coffee is dialed in and so so good. I finally was able to come early on a weekday and sit in and enjoy the dope playlist and the lovely pour over. I got the Colombia carbonic honey peach pour over which was MP ($12) which was on the pricier side but it was just perfect. The cortado was also really delicious. The pastry favorite here for me is the Kaya kouign aman, don't sleep on it. Street parking only here and there's usually a line but the service is very friendly. read more

I went here at the crack of dawn (7am) on a Friday and tell me why there were already like 10 parties ahead of us!! It was when they were still newly opened so maybe that's why? Interior was absolutely stunning, but there isn't much seating, so don't bank on dining in. I got the LW matcha latte and it is a MUST TRY. Definitely the star of the show. Ngl I was so skeptical about coconut water and matcha but this changed my mind. I think it's actually one of my top matchas now mayhaps. Oh and the vanilla cold foam makes it even better. I also tried the everything pull apart and I thought it was unique but tbh I probably wouldn't get it again because it was pricey and tastes just alright. What a cute spot to hang out, read a book, catch up with friends, or get some work done! It was packed when I visited, but the service was still quick and friendly. I ordered the double matcha, which was creamy, sweet, and exactly what I was hoping for! The guava cream cheese croissant completely stole the show- it may honestly be one of the best I've had! The pastry was perfectly flaky and crisp, while the filling was rich without being overly sweet. Parking can be a little tricky since there's no dedicated lot, but street parking is available if you're patient. I went to little while around 1:30 on a Friday and unfortunately were all sold out of pastries. I tried their Matcha cloud seasonal drink, and it was delicious! The service was great and the vibes were 10/10. It is on the pricier side and after tip and tax it was $10.15. A bit steep for the size, it was filled mostly with ice (as you can see in the photo ice is popping out of the drink) but it was delicious. If you go, ask for light ice! I would check this place out if you're in the area and ok with spending $9-10 for a small but delicious drink. Parking is rough as to be expected with the area. Interior is pretty small as well, all the tables were full when I got there so I had to take my drink to go. I would like to rate this spot higher but I can't justify a $10 drink that was mostly ice and finished in 5 sips. If it was $8 this place would be 4 stars. read more

We were fortunate to grab one of the limited seats. We ordered: - Vanilla Latte Iced - Matcha Latte Iced - Honey Butter Pastry - Chocolate Croissant The coffees were high quality and smooth. The matcha was well whisked and balanced. The honey butter pastry was a knockout standout pastry, albeit a little stiffly priced at $9. As a bonus the aesthetic of the pastry was spot on. The quality makes this shop worth the wait, I would definitely come back to try some of the other drinks and pastries. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm and there was a line. It was busy and loud inside so it was pretty cool. Normally, I would've given this place 4 stars, but there was a fly in the pastry case. Usually when I walk in this area I expect the massive line to be for An's dry cleaning but I hadn't realized that this coffee shop was the reason so many new people were in line. After looking it over I decided to give it a shot to see what the hype was about. The shop is aesthetic with nice indoor lighting as well as seating which were all full when I got inside. I wasn't sure what to order but the cashier was nice enough to recommend me the pandan earl grey latte. They also serve matcha and had a variety of beautiful pastries that I wish I ordered but decided against. After trying the coffee outside I will say that the coffee taste is potent but unfortunately I feel like the pandan/earl grey flavor was extremely light. It was still a tasty coffee but the other flavors didn't come through for me. Maybe it was just an off order but I don't think I'd order that same drink again. Great flavor! The Pandan Earl Grey Latte was so good - strong coffee with a great flavor that wasn't too sweet. The pastries are unique and delicious, I always appreciate a unique/can't find it anywhere menu. We tried a variety: a Japanese Curry croissant, a French onion croissant, a banana cream concha and the Kaya Kouign Amman and none of them disappointed. Off the bat, I love that this place offers a slow bar. I'm huge on pourover and light roasted coffee so this is really up my alley. Wanted something a little stronger so I ordered the 1 and 1 with their house blend. Espresso was pulled right and tasted excellent in the cortado. The pull apart everything bagel bread was insanely good, and so was the apple treat. I've gone in here a few times to meet up with friends or just grab something on the go, and the service is always exceptional. The owner is extremely kind and always engages with the guests. There's a really cool modern and clean vibe of the place and there is plenty of seating room for solo workers. Terrific new coffee spot with great drinks and pastries, from the creator's of Stella Jean's and Pop Pie Co. I had this bookmarked for our latest SD visit and it was well worth the stop. There are a few seats outside with more inside. We got there before there was a long line. The menu offers up espresso drinks, pourovers, seasonal drinks, as well as matcha, Thai tea, and chai. The pastry selections looked delicious; I wanted one of everything. I had the Ube Leche Flan pastry (masarap!) and a Honey Cinnamon Latte. One of my favorite spots that I've been in recent memory and so good that I had to go twice in a 5 day trip. While we mourn the loss of Hawthorn Coffee, Little While has stepped up to take its place, and step up they did. The space is cute, warm, and welcoming (albeit a little small), and the quality is top-notch. COFFEE: We go out of our way to visit shops that also roast their own beans, and there are only a few shops in San Diego that we visit that don't roast, with the requirement being that they know how to properly dial in their shots. Little White hits both checkboxes: roaster, with well dialed shots. Aside from their espresso by itself, their lattes and other milk-based drinks are also delicious - creative flavors, and well balanced - not too sweet, but also the right amount of actual flavor, and great milk texture. PASTRIES: So far, we've tried the almond chocolate croissant (perfect amount of almond butter and perfectly crisp), and tomato and seaweed jam pain suisse (lovely tomato flavor, well balanced by the seaweed jam and the parm and furikake top). read more

Little While is now open in SD and is one of the most poppin cafes in the city right now for a good reason. This spot is located in the North Park neighborhood where street parking will be your best bet. Wifey and I arrived around 10am and there was a short line out the door. Inside, they have a clean and minimalist setup with a solid amount of seating. For their menu, they have a unique selection of coffee, matcha, and pastries to choose from. Little While is absolutely positively the most poppin' coffee shop in SD right now! Everyone is talking about it and their line is a reflection of that. Located in North Park (right next to An's Dry Cleaning!), there's tons of foot traffic and nearby sips and eats. We stopped by around 11am on a Friday and there was a little bit of a wait (15 minutes). They whip up the drinks pretty quickly though! We got the Salted Maple Latte (with a Little Cloud) and the LW Matcha Latte. If I could recommend you to get one thing, it would be the Salted Maple Latte. It was the perfect balance between salty and sweet! We also got it with a Little Cloud (Vanilla Cream Top) and it was perfection. It had a strong Vanilla Bean flavor and I couldn't stop myself from licking the little cup clean (TMI lol). The LW Matcha Latte features maple, coconut water, and milk. Finally came to the much shared new coffee place on social media. I decided to order a drink from the seasonal specials menu. Opted for the Cherry Yuzilla as it sounded different yet refreshing. It didn't taste how I had hoped for. Was hoping for a more present cherry flavor, but I feel it was more on the citrus side. The flavors didn't combine well with the cold brew in my opinion. Walking in on a late Wednesday morning, it was cute with a lot of merchandise set around the front counter and every table inside filled with people sitting and chatting, it's a promising for a new place to be so busy mid-morning and putting in so much effort into marketing. And that's when my wow stopped. I ordered a matcha coconut and a pandan earl grey latte, two promising drinks. I love pandan and try to try any drink that mentions pandan. Starting out, almost $16 for two drinks that were in 12 oz cups is insane even for San Diego, even if one is a matcha. Secondly, my espresso in the pandan earl grey latte was I assumed burnt as it left a deep unpleasant flavor that would be considered savory to some. I would assume this is not from the pandan or the earl which makes me assume the espresso was pulled improperly. Thirdly, the matcha coconut was made with boxed coconut water, something I would not have expected expect from a place unless they do not emphasize taste but cost margins. I was able to recognize the cardboard taste immediately. I want to want to try this place again especially with the promise of a corn concha or giving other drinks a chance but this was not a great first impression. read more

Whenever I pass by this block in University Heights, there is always a line on the sidewalk. I had assumed it was for the uber-popular gelato shop that has been getting nationwide acclaim. To my surprise, its new next door neighbor, Little While, has been generating its own long queue of customers. As noted by others, the cafe owners also operate a local ice cream and pie chain. Parking in this neighborhood is challenging because of a cluster of successful businesses. I visited on a weekday morning and found an open curbside spot not far away. The inside of the suite had limited seating with a row of small round tops along the right wall. There was also a table that could seat six in an alcove facing the front windows. Coffee and pastries were the main draw here, but matcha and specialty drinks were also offered. The display case next to the service counter was fully stocked with pastries while I was there. I selected a Ham & Cheese Croissant and a Kaya Kouign Amman for the food part of my order. My drink was a LW (Little While) Matcha Latte. The croissant was made up of rosemary ham, smoked cheddar, spice bomb, and sesame seeds. A pepperoncini was speared on top of the tasty, savory pastry. The kouign amman was a laminated pastry featuring coconut sugar and kaya (coconut) jam. This item was sticky and decadently sweet. The matcha latte contained a mix of maple, coconut water, and milk to go with the green tea powder. I liked how the coconut water made the drink taste lighter. There wasn't much space for a waiting area so the inside got rather tight with customers hanging out for their order. If possible, a few more tables should be added to the sidewalk patio in front of the suite. I have heard that the daily pastry inventory frequently sells out before the 2 pm closing time so show up early or risk missing out for the day. read more

The vibe is easily 5/5. The only things holding it back are the parts they really can't control, which makes it tough deciding if I should be a regular or not lol. The place gets packed, which is honestly a great sign for the business and totally deserved because they have an awesome selection and really great staff. The biggest downside is parking since street parking can be really hard to find. The waiting area also gets very tight, to the point where you're kind of hovering over other people's tables while they're chatting or working on their laptops. The baked goods aren't served warm and I don't think they reheat them, but they usually have a great selection. I love their Little While Matcha Latte, and the Pandan Earl Grey is an absolute must try!! Just a suggestion: One thing that could make the experience smoother would be some kind of text notification when your order is ready. That way people could wait outside instead of crowding the small space inside, and it might even help create more buzz from people passing by who haven't heard of the place yet. I was so excited to try Little While and see if it is worth the hype. I can gladly confirm that both the latte ams the pastry were AMAZING! I tried the iced early grey pandan and it was not too sweet, the flavors of early grey & pandan both stood out but blended well together. The Kaya kouign samman was probably the best pastry I've ever had! It was soft, fluffy, and the flavors just melted in your mouth. They did have a line out the door when i arrived on a Wednesday morning but i probably only wait 20 minutes total from the time i got in line, till the time i received my order. Every seat was packed inside as well but by the time my order was ready someone else was leaving so a table opened up. It wouldn't be the best place to work from home or sit comfortably to catch up with a friend, but it is definitely quality coffee and amazing unique pastries. read more

The creators of Stella Jean bring you Little While, a polished, sleek cafe serving specialty coffee and fresh baked pastries. The cafe will be a welcome one to the scene. Although many a coffee shop are located nearby, Little While will differentiate, and from their one-of-a-kind pastries alone. On the coffee front, espresso, specialty lattes and pour-overs are the main options. The pour-over offerings are one of intrigue, the lineup consisting of specialty, one-off brews from select regions and sometimes featuring unique processing and flavor profiles. The gadgetry present is to be noticed. For instance, each brew method features a dedicated coffee grinder. And they mean BUSINESS with that $$$ grinder dedicated to the pour-over station. Said station features poppy orange Origami ceramic drippers over Hario carafes. Clearly, the coffee know-how is present in many bits and pieces and especially in the sizing of drinks. You won't find anything bigger than a 12oz. In fact, their lattes come in 10 or 12 ounce cups. Lattes are crafted to perfection, the frothing creating a silky, soothing drink. The Pandan Earl Grey was a perfect ratio to really dull the earl grey some while offering that quirky pandan sweetness. The owners already possess the prestige and renown to make this shop successful and the crowds prove that they are known far and wide. Hopefully the buzz dies down to an extent because the cafe is otherwise not enjoyable to sit at... I also hope they have a more varied bean selection; the pickings were slim during my visit. This is a great little new spot on Adams Avenue. I went here during the soft opening and they were out of pastries. I am glad I went back because they were delicious. We had a banana cream concha and a chocolate almond croissant. The presentation was very pretty as well. There was a bit of line when I got there around 10:00 on a Saturday. It went pretty quickly and I felt like the pastries were worth it. They also have several creative coffee drinks. They don't charge extra for oat milk alternative. read more
