Read about this place on Yelp, and it didn't disappoint. Innocuous-looking storefront overshadowed by the pizza place two doors down, Hing Wang was exactly what we had been looking for. The food is fresh, flavorful and plentiful. We each got a combination dinner (1 chicken with garlic sauce, 1 General Tso's chicken) and shared a small Hot & Sour soup. We both ate plenty, and still had a substantial portion for lunch the next day. In fact, the spices seemed to "kick it up a notch" overnight. You could eat there, although the place is as cozy as a church meeting hall. Some other reviews said it was dirty, but we didn't see that. The store is located a block off the main road through Lewes, which makes it less subject to summer crowds. It is right next to Cape Henlopen High School, so keep that in mind if school is in session. Prices are good; we paid $16 for two, without the available Coke products. Parking is right out front, off the street. Hing Wang looks to be the good Chinese take-out we've been looking for. It's a little out of our way, but the food is worth it. We came here to pick up food from our campsite. I can honestly say this is the first Chinese food I've had where I became too physically and mentally tired to finish the meal. The taste was okay, but the difficulty in chewing my chicken (I think it was the breading on the Orange Chicken) made me not want anymore. I finished the rice, but only ate half the chicken. Another in our group got the Hunan Chicken and he said it was pretty good...but not as good as a similar, small Chinese place close by where we live in Ohio. So even though this was the worst Chinese food I've ever had, I still ate most of it (I'd give it 2/5 stars), and the Hunan Chicken received 4/5 stars. Very, Very Good-This was our 1st time to order from Hing Wang. They are located right next to Mr. P's in Lewes, DE. We loved our food. I had Cashew Shrimp & my husband had Kung Pao Jumbo Shrimp. Both dishes had many huge, sweet shrimp with perfectly cooked vegetables. We will be ordering again. My husband, who picked up the order, said that their covid check out set up was well thought out and as good as it gets (and he is in the medical field). I was in the area for business and decided to try this place because it was rated higher than some of the other local chinese restaurants. I was a little worried when I walked in the place. It could use updating as another Yelp user had suggested. However, local chinese restaurants can sometimes be that way and still dish out excellent food so I didn't worry too much. I ordered sezchuan chicken and hot & sour soup for carry out. The staff was very friendly and struck up conversation with every one who walked in. I have to say that was the only positive thing I can say. I was disappointed with the sezchuan chicken. It was almost sweet. The chicken tasted like it had been stir-fried in oil with shrimp. I hate it when stir fry that shouldn't taste like shrimp..tastes like....shrimp. The hot & sour soup is the kind of hot & sour soup that comes with mystery meat. I'm not sure. Is it pork? Seriously. Don't be fooled by the modest strip mall on Kings Highway which can be easily reached by several roads in the worst of tourist traffic in the summer. Reasonable prices and carefully seasoned Chinese food, and the old standards for the scaredy-cats are all here. Try the noodle dishes particularly the Singapore Noodle. The young man whose parents are owners chefs is delightfully shy but he can be a source of info about the dishes. I've been going to Hing Wang one or two times a month for the last year simply because its the best Chinese food in the area. The prices are very reasonable, portions are large, and the food is outstanding. I usually stick to a couple of things such as chicken lo mein and sesame chicken, but when I do try something different on the menu it's always delicious. Went there based on recommendation and reviews. Ribs were burned and overly fatty. I'm allergic to onion. Got pork fried rice. Told them no onion. What they gave me was a container of yellow rice. Not fried rice. No veggies. No eggs. Just a container of yellow rice with a few pieces of pork, much of that fat. Oh wait, there was a vegetable in it. Onion!!!!! And yes I ate a piece and immediately knew I had missed it. Found a few more too. I had to take benedryl and am hoping I don't get sick. My husband also got fried rice with chicken and shrimp. Having eaten at Hing Wang a number of times with no issue, today I had black bean sauce that tasted like vinegar. I took the dish back explained how it tasted and politely asked for a refund. While I reluctantly got a refund I also was told not to return and a suggestion that I had returned something before. I never had. False accusation and no apology. read more

This is a family run place on the way to the ferry or the town of Lewes. The people who work here are very nice and they recently brought in very nice new tables and chairs. The food is excellent. This is a great little place for carry out. The food is ALWAYS fresh and piping hot! I've never had a bad meal here. I like to stop here on my way back home from the beach as it's right on the way. I have eaten here off and on for 14 or so years without a problem or complaint. Last night that all changed. To skip to the point we had three people receive 3 meals that were not edible they were so salty ur tongue would shrivel up. I mistakenly called after the 3rd person said they couldn't eat it either. I was nice , the owner said bring food back in and I will give u refund. Sounds nice, okay! Well no apparently she wanted to scream at me accuse me of eating the food and trying to take her money. Screamed at me for a missing chicken wing. This turned into an awful mess. There WAS NO BAD INTENT IN MY PART. Even the woman's son was trying to calm her down and explain things to her in Chinese because her English is so broken. I thought I was supporting a local business. I am a Lewes resident and been going here for years! I wouldn't recommend it for its dine in ambiance, but for take out, it's terrific. Food is very good, we don't experiment too much with Chinese food. We know what we like and stick wit it. Husband gets the egg roll and we split a large Chicken and Brocolli. Vegetables are fresh and crunchy. Their chicken fried rice is excellent. This reminds me a little the adage about buying lobster in Maine. Stay away from the highly decorated tourist traps and find a run down looking lobster shack with boiler pots outside for the best lobster. Again, not fancy - but good and generous portions. There are much better Chinese places around Lewes, notably China Garden next to Food Lion, and the new Wu's Kitchen. Hing Wang isn't terrible, but most dishes are too heavy on the green peppers and other vegetables, skimping on shrimp or meat. Was looking for Chinese takeout and decided to try Hing Wang. Keep in mind that this is Chinese takeout and not an upscale restaurant. My wife picked the food up and told me that the place was very clean and the people were very friendly. For the seven to ten dollar meals, the portions were plentiful. We had left overs for two lunches. I ordered the large General Tsou's chicken. It wasn't too spicy hot. But the chicken was tender and the meal had some broccoli surrounding the chicken. The fried rice had a significant amount of barbecue pork in it. Overall we were very satisfied with the takeout and we will certainly order again in the future. The menu was exactly the same as a Chinese takeout back home and the food tasted identical. It reminded me of a chain where the food is predictable. So the open variables are the cleanliness and service. We always check the bathrooms. If the soap dispenser is empty then I assume the staff is not washing their hands. If the restroom is a mess, I assume the kitchen is filthy. Not the case here. read more

This place was surprisingly so amazing! I'm from Kent county but was down at the beach for a night and decided to get some Chinese last minute at this place. The boy who works the counter was so friendly and happy and talked to every single customer who walked in! I was sitting at a table waiting for my food to finish watching his customer service skills in awe! He would ask people about their day, about their job, and make small talk with everyone as if they were his friend! I had questions about the menu that I don't normally ask other Chinese restaurants because they don't make me feel welcome, but I felt completely comfortable asking this young man to explain some things to me. He even went to the back of the kitchen to grab things for me to show me what they looked like. Besides the customer service part, the food was also great. I got a combination meal thinking I could save most of it for another dinner, but ended up sitting there and finishing every single bite of it until I was so sick from eating so much!!
